Vacation rentals with breakfast in Matamata-Piako District

I really enjoyed my stay inside Dorothy and Patrick’s home, the room is comfortable and has everything one would require. I talked alot to Patrick and it’s very nice chatting about his family and previous travellers! This airbnb is most enjoyable for guests who like talking to their hosts. Patrick and Dorothy are always home. Thank-you for the warm and wonderful stay!

Briony was a very welcoming host, she left us fresh eggs, juice, bread and milk. Her partner (apologies I have forgotten his name) provided tools to tighten up the wing mirror on my bike. The property is loverly and really conveniently placed if you are planning on visiting the Hobbiton movie set.

Absolutely loved staying at starlight Valley. Used it as a base for our wedding prep and family gathering before and after the event. Was greeted with roses of 2 varieties and a lovely card on entry into the accommodation. Left to get on with what we needed to do but I could've just used it as a peaceful getaway as well. Make sure to come when the strawberries are ripening as they were ginormous. Close enough to town to nip in and get supplies before returning to relaxing.

Overall great stay, well kitted out kitchen with lots of supplies for breakfast as described. I’d recommend it for any families needing a peaceful spot to stay around Cambridge. The only issue we had in our stay was the laundry machine had trouble completing a cycle and kept turning off. Hosts were responsive and I’m sure will fix it, but were not able to resolve issue in the short timeframe we had left at the house.

It is a lovely place to stay, new, clean and tidy. The place has everything we hope for an accommodation. We had a wonderful stay there! Dee is very welcoming host as well.

Staying here was so convenient to get to Hobbiton with my rental car. But the best bit was the temporary inclusion in Judith's lovely home and family. I was included in dinner and breakfast, and there was no rush for the bathroom as there were two toilets. I stayed at a time when there was fresh fruit and salad from her own garden to sample - absolutely amazing. She was so helpful and brilliant with messages. I felt so safe, and everything was clean. One day I hope to come back!!

I had a fantastic stay at Charlie's in Matamata, NZ! The house is new, very cozy, and exceptionally well maintained. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living and dining area, and a beautiful yard that's perfect for relaxing. The host was incredibly helpful and made everything easy and welcoming. The location is terrific if planning to visit Hobbiton the movie set which was a great experience as well and also a short trip from Rotorua. Highly recommend this place for a comfortable and enjoyable stay and exploring the beautiful surroundings!

Lovely, caring hosts, who very kindly left us some breakfast, homemade lemonade and cookies! Great location for a family with kids, with a small, beautiful, self-contained garden a 2min walk to a park with a playground. Supermarket cafe and pub a 10-min walk away.

We enjoyed this spot for our family of 4, very comfortable. The hot water bottles were a welcome bonus. Conveniently close to Hobbitton.

Kate’s place is a hidden gem. It was an awesome place to spend a few nights. Close to Cambridge township and cafes.

I feel so lucky, that I found this place. Great and cozy accommodation, excellent breakfast, beautiful garden and an unforgettable lesson in archery. The best choice in Matamata for sure! ❤️

The place is awesome and perfect if you like a very quiet and close to nature ambiance. The host was very lovely too and accommodating with their adorable dog. They even prepared complimentary foods for the guests. All in all we highly recommend this place.👌

Chris & Jenny’s home was immaculate, warm and very homely. Chris communicated throughout the entire process, checking in with me & keeping me notified of what to expect closer to our stay. Prior to arrival he gave detailed instructions on how to get to the property leaving his number just incase. Chris was friendly and polite, warm and helpful. On arrival we were welcomed with a token of their appreciation in the form of a delicious jam & marmalade- to which I had on toast the following morning. Overall, I would highly recommend staying at their place. They are wonderful hosts, & should I need accomodation in the area, I would happily return.

Gavin and Petra were extremely welcoming and attentive hosts. They made us feel very comfortable at their home, which is beautiful, clean and tidy. The home grown fresh fruit, freshly brewed coffee and homemade museli for breakfast was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely house, lovely cats, lovely couple.

Definitely recommend……. well appointed and comfortable with many extras. Great location and quiet bedroom for a good nights sleep. Exceptionally clean. Owners make an impressive effort. Thank you.

Such a wonderful stay. Only negative is that we couldn’t stay longer! If you’re looking for a home stay away from home, this is your place! We felt like we had checked into an old friend’s place. It’s a lovely home on a gorgeous setting. It ended up raining but Jen was so clever and gave us some alternative ideas which were amazingly fun (and we would never have found them if it hadn’t been for her suggestion). This is a hidden gem for sure!!

Steve provided a great accommodation. We arrived late from Auckland and they had already turned on the heating. Very warm. The house is very green and environmentally friendly. It was a very good stay

Great place for a quick stopover on our way through Cambridge. Yakin’s hut is spacious and spotless. The bed is comfy and had plenty of blankets for the frosty night. Didn’t get to hang out with the alpacas as we left before their breakfast time but the turkeys waved us off!

Judith’s home is unique in its architecture in a lovely, safe, friendly, and convenient neighborhood. I didn’t use my car at all during my 3 day stay, choosing instead to walk to a great Saturday Farmers Market,; a good choice of restaurants and shops; scenic hiking/walking options. The nearby iSite provides many brochures related to the history of Cambridge, and I found the town to be very pleasant and friendly! Judith has many years’ experience hosting, and she is the Ultimate Hostess, wanting to make your stay as pleasant and memorable as possible! I highly recommend!

Belinda was a wonderful Host. Helpful in every way without being intrusive. Many little personal touches that made me feel so very comfortable in her home. Everything was spotless, very comfortable bed with electric blanket, heat pump, shower had excellent pressure, outlook onto Belinda's lovely garden from dining room windows at breakfast table was very special. Belinda helped me with directions to local eateries and made my stay perfect inn every way. Loved the home baked Date Loaf left in my room for a late night supper. I had access to the house at any time of my stay for Cambridge Scottish Country Dance Club's 70th Anniversary during King's Birthday Weekend 2025 at Cambridge Town Hall - a very short drive of 4 minutes away in middle of town. Stephanie and her family were so welcoming, we felt right at home. It was a pleasure to stay with them and we got the best coffee the next morning + the opportunity to feed their lambs.
