Welcome to my cottage in the picturesque village of St John's Town of Dalry. It is a traditional Scottish cottage located on the village's second street, meaning peace and quiet are the order of the day. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and well equipped with all the essentials required for a self catering holiday.
“Norman's cottage is an absolute gem - thoroughly recommended! It is a delightful place, very well cared for and equipped with all the essentials and then some for a great get-away. We found the village is a beautiful place and the local pub excellent. Thank you Norman for your great advice and the wonderful stay!”
The Old Post Office is a cosy little cottage on the High street of Scotland's smallest Royal Burgh. It was built in 1835 and was one of the many homes the local Post office has enjoyed over the centuries. There are steps up to the entrance and the staircase is quite steep and narrow so not suitable for all. The bedroom and bathroom are snug with low ceilings. The kitchen diner has a log burner for keeping the cottage toastie.
“Really cosy wee cottage. Adrian was a great host, quick to respond to messages and met us at the cottage. Lovely cheery chap and made us very welcome! Very kindly left us milk biscuits tea coffee etc... Kitchen was also well equipped for cooking. Overall great value for money and would recommend. Thanks Adrian.”
We are offering a private, self contained bothy room which is attached to our cottage. The small kitchen area has a microwave, small oven, kettle, toaster, fridge, crockery and cutlery. The bothy has its own private entrance and small balcony space overlooking the Glenkens hills.
“The Bothy was small and cosy. Comfy beds, hot shower, basic cooking and efficient heating facilities - everything that we needed. Carlyanne was a welcoming and helpful host. We visited and enjoyed the Dark Sky Observatory and found this to be a beautiful part of the country.”
