A great stay in a very comfortable cottage. We especially appreciated the large dining kitchen, the pretty back yard, the comfy living room with plenty of seating, good WiFi, and walkable location. Loads to do. Highly recommend the Scran Van on the harbour for delicious fish and chips

I had a fantastic stay at this holiday home in Dumfries. Nestled in a beautiful natural setting, the location was both peaceful and scenic—ideal for a relaxing getaway. Surrounded by greenery and fresh air, it truly felt like a retreat into nature while still being close to local attractions and essentials. The property was spotless and very well-maintained. Everything inside was comfortable, from the cozy beds to the thoughtfully furnished living spaces. The amenities were great too, including fast Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, and convenient parking. The host was warm, helpful, and very responsive, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, nature-filled escape in Dumfries.

Lovely quaint cottage, both beds extremely comfortable, shower pressure great! Quiet rural location. Unfortunately the weather didn’t favour our planned hiking in the area but it means we will return.

Lovely countryside cottage. Enclosed garden

JessicaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Carmen is a super host, we absolutely loved the home from home home feel. My little boy who is 2 years of age settled to sleep well in the childrens room (this tells me he felt safe in the cottage). The roku stick was available to use and worked easily. The trail at the side if the house has beautiful waterfalls to view and a few stopping spots for those who need to go a little slower/steady or have children. We experienced no issues at all with our stay. Thank you Carmen we will definitely be back again.

The Blue House, Kirkcudbright

JoanRating, 5 stars1 day ago
Fabulous house. Less than three minutes to harbour. And right on river. Perfect location. Ian’s instructions and recommendations were very helpful. Check out the photographs on walls. I believe these photos are taken by Hazel. Sadly the Bistro in Castle St is no longer trading. Best to book restaurants. Some only open a few days in the week. Also several shops/attractions close at 4.00pm. Lots to do in Kirkcudbright.

Queensberry Terrace - spacious & cosy

HannahRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Went to a friend's wedding at Kinmont House and Haylie's property is super nearby and perfect for catching up with other wedding guests. I was designated driver and it was close enough for me to easily do a couple of runs saving us any hassle with taxis. It's a spacious property with board games and a large kitchen - great for a bigger group. Plus there were two irons and a handheld steamer - so everyone was able to arrive at the wedding crease-free! The views from the front-facing rooms are just lovely and I would definitely consider going back to explore the local area.

Solway Holiday Villa

ElizabethRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Mark the host gave us super easy and clear instructions to get to, and get in the caravan which made things super easy. The caravan is absolutely stunning, so clean inside with absolutely everything you need, from plates, cleaning products, even a slow cooker and dishwasher. Everything was left for our one year old including a cot and blankets, and they even had bubbles, loads of games and books for all ages. The WiFi worked really well and honestly we couldn’t fault it. The site was lovely, although there wasn’t loads to do for the kids, they made use of the golf, football pitches and pool. The entertainment was decent and we even won £500 at bingo! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Cruggleton Lodge, Galloway House Estate

ChrisRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Our 1st time at Cruggleton Lodge - though we have stayed at the relatively adjacent High Lodge several times. As at HL before, we had an idyllic week - which the facilities at CL provided an excellent foundation for. CL is secluded, set in the edge of woodlands, with breath-taking views out to sea. The walk through the woods down to Garlieston starts literally outside the door. Woods containing deer, hares and a wide variety of bird species. Have already booked again!

Such great value for money! This is EXACTLY what we needed. We were looking at booking a house, but stumbled across this accommodation. It was a great location for what we needed on the way up to Scotland. The caravan was so homely and clean - it had everything we needed. The site had much to offer with the parks, bar and restaurant etc - we didn’t get chance to utilise them all as our stay was only 2 nights. We will definitely stay again and recommend to family members who also visit Scotland from the U.K. Thank you!

Escape by the Sea

MaryRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
absolutely amazing time away. beautiful caravan . It looks lovely in the photos but I was amazed at how stunning the views are and how beautiful the caravan is. So many touches to it ....plus so many extras too. Tea,Coffee biscuits, fudge and a bottle of Prosecco was also left. New doggy bed to use and treats also. We really felt looked after and alot of care and attention was put into us enjoying are stay. My doggie loved it as did we. Waking up and having a morning coffee on the balcony looking out to sea was fantastic. We just loved every day of it. The site and surroundings is so clean and well kept. The beach is a 2 minute walk away. There are lots to do on site or many walks to do and explore the area. Also a good base to visit surrounding areas and towns. I've stayed at several Air BnB and this is on my top 3 . Highly recommend a stay here. We will DEFINITELY be back . 10/10.

Just back from a fab stay here. The Chalet has every comfort you could think of and made our time at the site very enjoyable. Another shout out for the air fryer and dish washer plus generous supplies were in stock for our arrival. The whole place was lovely and clean with a surprising amount of space. There is a lot to do in the area, the Ayr farm park was a massive hit for our kiddo. Highly recommend!

The Cottage Workshop

RachaelRating, 5 stars1 day ago
Rachel and Michael went out of their way to be kind and helpful. The space is beautifully proportioned and laid out with just about everything you could want for a trip away. It is up a long lane from the road, (a well maintained lane) but that is fine and part of the charm. It would be ideal for a romantic weekend away, though as a female on my own I felt safe and reassured that the owners were close by but never intrusive. My young spaniel enjoyed our walks with Rachel and her dogs down the lane. The Workshop Cottage even has it's designated parking spot, and small garden area, and a bench in the sunshine to admire the view. This is a stunning, unique and slightly quirky bit of paradise at a very reasonable price. I would book again in a flash if I needed to visit the Lakes again.

Roseneath Cottage

RuthieRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
What a lovely, idyllic cottage in a quiet village, at the foot of beautiful hills. Elizabeth was very friendly and fast to respond to any queries I had. We had a slight issue in the bathroom and Elizabeth was over and had it repaired in less than 30 minutes of reporting it. If you like gardens, it may be small, but this cottage has an absolutely beautiful one, if only it had been a bit warmer I would have been out in it every spare minute I was there, also it is just round the corner to Threave Gardens. I would happily stay here again when visiting family locally. Thank you Elizabeth.
