The quintessential kiwi bach, simple and functional, set in complete privacy within our farm on a stunning site high above all else. Originally hunting huts, this unique holiday home is actually four separate buildings that are linked by a large outdoor deck. We replaced roofing, renewed the decking and renovated the insides to create a unique holiday home that has a special character all its own. The front two pods are the living spaces: kitchen/dining and lounge each with stacker doors which open up onto the central deck. The two rear pods are identical in configuration, each split into a double room and a bunk room with internal access to each other, perfect for one family per pod. The bathroom adjoins the lounge and has a shower over a bath, a toilet and a double vanity. The utility room has washer, dryer and laundry tub and a second toilet. The outdoor shower on the northern deck is a completely open showering experience! Both double bedrooms enjoy the unequalled lake views and you'll wake to see the sun rising over Mount Tarawera. A genuine Stoked Hot Tub sits under a pohutukawa on the edge of the front lawn and is a perfect way to relax and enjoy the vista by day and the famous starfilled lake Tarawera sky by night. The lake bach is ideally suited for... Loved our stay!! Kerry and David are lovely hosts and very helpful. Super cozy and looked exactly like the photos. Had everything we needed and we felt right at home; especially with the welcome board and snacks :) My nephew really enjoyed the toys and games too. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

It was a very good place to stay. Graham and Sarah are very friendly, easy to talk and helpful couple. They have thought of everything for a comfortable stay. They have horses, cows, sheep and pigs that we could feed - the kid loved it. The bunk beds were a big hit for my kid. I would stay here again next time I go to Rotorua and I wouldn't need to go anywhere,I could stay the whole day at this house. There is so much to do games, BBQ, table tennis etc etc.

Mark was an amazing host! This vacation home was spotless and would be great for large and small families. Our family appreciated his thoughtfulness in leaving us muesli squares at check in and then the next morning homemade bread which we enjoyed with our breakfast. His home is close to many attractions in Rotorua that made it super easy to enjoy them and be back to relax quickly. Would highly recommend his home to other travelers headed for a holiday in Rotorua. We loved our stay there.

The Starling Box is definitely the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in! Janina is an exceptional host - she gave us a lovely, warm welcome and showed us all around her beautiful, modern home. The home itself is clean, well appointed and has all the comforts of home. We appreciated the extra touches that are evident throughout the house that make everything cozy and comfy - from warm blankets to a well kitchen stocked with delicious breakfast items, coffee, tea and snacks. The space is peaceful and inviting, and you can feel the love that went into every detail of this fantastic Airbnb. My family and I really enjoyed staying at Ricky & Kylie's place. This home was an ideal base to explore Rotorua from, and also to curl up on the couch when the rain was out of hand. We stayed for two nights, and if anything it'd have been nice to book for an extra day or three to thoroughly explore the area and to make use of the kayaks & the other amenities. Definite recommend.

Kristin has been great with communication, offering early check in as soon as the place is available. Location is excellent, lake front, next to many restaurants and most importantly, 3 min walk to Wai Ariki hot spring which is the main reason for our visit to Rotorua. Note though because of the proximity to Eat Street - Friday night particularly can be very noisy , music well into 1am . The pull out couch at the study does sleep the 5th guest, but the study is more a recess from the kitchen area, so whoever sleeps there bring eye mask and ear plugs.

Barbara was an absolutely wonderful host. The only hiccup involved a communication issue with the cleaner but she resolved it so incredibly quickly that it did not affect our stay in the least. She was generous and very easy to work with during our stay. Should we venture back to this side of the world from the states again one day we would love to stay at her accommodation again.

The checkin instructions were very clear and it was extremely easy to get in and get settled. The place had almost everything we need. It’s very spacious and the sofa was comfortable as a bed. The lake is very close by and serene. The places is very close to the redwoods. Definitely recommend this place.

Sussan was a fantastic host, welcoming and friendly. Her home was clean and tidy. Comfortable bed and yummy breakfast. I had everything I needed and more. I was walking distance from the conference and places to eat. Great if you're tired from a big day! We had lovely chats and I left with a gift feijoa's, which made my day. Thank you for a wonderful and easy stay, with a 'home away from home' feeling.
