Exactly as advertised it was quiet and peaceful. It was beautiful and clean and a short drive to town and the local wineries. Truly a perfect getaway location.

Ranch Retreat on 27- acres

MikeRating, 5 stars32 months ago
We had a great time staying at Heidi’s place. She was very quick and thorough with her responses to my questions and made it very easy for check in when we arrived. Her and her husband are very nice and did a great job showing us around the house to make sure we were completely comfortable before they left. The house and the property are beautiful and has everything you need for an amazing weekend in the mountains. Jacuzzi was perfect for a night under the stars and the bbq worked well for dinners. The beds were comfy and each room has an AC unit to adjust as needed. Will definitely be coming back to stay again

Kern River Cottage and Camping-2.5 acres of oasis

BrookeRating, 5 stars1 month ago
My family and I had a wonderful experience at this property. Every part of this property is well thought out and impeccablably maintained. Upon arrival we were able to easily access the home. The gated entrance made us feel safe and secure the entire time. Our girls loved the freedom they had riding their scooters across the giant driveway and we loved knowing they were safe from street traffic. The house is immaculate and cozy. The garage opened up to be a bonus room that we spent hours playing in. The backyard is magical. The Kern River is right at your back door. We enjoyed many meals on the patio. Some notes: The neighbors can be a little sensitive to noise, which is understandable, so keep outdoor music low. The nearest grocery store is 20 a minute drive so come prepared. We loved the on-site chicken coop and really enjoyed the farm-fresh eggs provided upon arrival. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodate our requests. We hope to visit again.

The Isabella Lakehouse

JeremiahRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This house is in the absolute perfect location to experience much of what Kernville has to offer. It's walking distance to great restaurants, bars, and river rafting HQ's. The house has ample parking for multiple vehicles, although any tall van or truck is going to be a little more limited by low hanging trees. The house was cozy and comfortable with lots of sleeping options for a party of 5 or 6 people. Directions getting to the house were a little tricky, so double check where you are going before you get there.

Garrett’s Lookout

TraciRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This was a very serene and welcoming environment. I felt close enough to get to our daughter’s wedding, yet far away enough to feel like we were in a different state. Everything exceeded our expectations . We were disappointed we didn’t see any wild boar or elk, but we did see a prowling bob cat and barn owl singing his nighttime song afar with a flashlight ,as well as listening to the frogs sweet sounds. We loved everything about this wonderful retreat and will be back soon! Looking forward to it!!! Thank you for such hospitality and blessings to you!!!

Kern River's Sirretta St Cottage - Hear the River!

JenniferRating, 5 stars1 month ago
What a gem! Pictures were true and spot on. Very clean and tidy. Host was thorough with instructions. We loved the back patio and enjoyed ourselves BBQing and relaxing. Weather was amazing. Very short drive down to the Kern River. Host was amazing and responded very quickly to any questions. Final note: loved walking outside with my morning cup of coffee hearing the Kern River. We are looking forward to returning soon.

Off Grid, 10 Acre Estate in the Mountains!

PamelaRating, 5 stars33 months ago
This is a great off-grid location in the mountains of Tehachapi. The temp is at least 10 degrees cooler than at lower elevations. If you are high maintenance, this is not the place for you. Think of this as a place to chill and relax and/or as a central rooting spot for your outdoor adventures! Tom and Kristen are great hosts and very responsive. The house is rustic and there is a chance the power could go off in the middle of the night as it is run by both solar and generator although Tom is great about getting it up and running again if it goes out. The road to get to the house is twisty and unpaved as you get higher up the mountain. I def recommend 4WD but FWD will get you there if no snow! The inside is clean and there are great books upstairs on the wall to wall bookcase. There is a nice deck with beautiful views. The area is heavily forested but sunset and moonrise can be seen from the deck - sometimes at the same time. There is great hiking both around the house and if you drive to Tehachapi Mountain State Park, a great 2.5 mile hike to the top with incredible views. The house is dog friendly and also gets visits from local dogs especially gigantic but super sweet Alaskan Malamute dogs Ghost and Koda. They were fascinated with my little dogs and desperately wanted to play with them. They also accompanied me on hikes/walks on the unpaved roads. If you walk up Grimsel, there are incredible views and walking with 2 huge dogs at sunset made me feel safe from any possible bears or mountain lions - not that I saw any but you’re in the mountains so a possibility! Besides Tom and Kristen, I want to say that everyone I met in town were the nicest people. And if you want a great bakery, then a trip to Kohnens Country Bakery is not to be missed. Also Carlos’Donuts and the Burrito and Coffee stand next to Carlos’! The burritos are HUGE and can easily be split. Wildrose has the cheapest gas by more than $1 anywhere else in town. So upshot, if you’re an outdoor person or just looking to unplug (I had almost no cell reception - 1 bar or 2 on the deck!) this is the place to go. I did a lot of driving around both on the mountain and in the flats just exploring. I’m sure in the fall and winter that it’s beautiful, and I am looking forward to coming back!

Debra was such an amazing host!! She took my friends and I in during the fire evacuations in LA and was so helpful during our entire stay. She brought us fresh eggs from her friend's farm and gave us great recommendations for places to explore in the area. The cabin was so cute and cozy, we all felt so at home! Thank you Debra!!
