The Art House

Welcome to the Art House - a petite, quirky space up a steep driveway. Strategic location - 4 minute drive down to Petone Station where there is free parking, jump on a train for a 12 minute trip to Wellington. Jackson Street (6 minute drive) has more than than 60 restaurants, bars and cafés. From here it is a 15 - 20 minute drive to ferry terminals and CBD. There is no kitchen, just a microwave, kettle/jug and bar fridge. We live above the unit so there is noise from time to time.

Right in the thick of restaurants and everything we wanted and needed to do in Wellington. We went for a graduation and could not have had a better location. Had a fabulous time!

What a perfect spot. So central yet quiet and beautifully fitted out. The little touches like bathrobes, marshmallows for the hot chocolate and a bikkie for a cuppa were lovely. The added discovery of a cool whiskey bar downstairs (not that you would have known!) was a treat. Would definitely recommend.

A friend came to visit for the long weekend. As a local Wellingtonion I knew that this location was vibrant for restaurants and cafes etc. But just the right distance to be outside of the hustle and bussle of the city. A walk to the beach on a sunny Sunday is perfect! The apartment is cosy, clean and comfortable, host was more than welcoming and responsive in communication. Highly recommended stay! Thank you again

I booked at the very last minute at 6:30pm on the night and the host responded so quickly. I am so grateful because this old house is very unique with plenty of history. Awesome views that you never get tired of. Walking distance to every where. Be aware there are a lot of stairs to get to the property and bedrooms rooms up on 2nd level so if you have old or bad legs this could be a problem. Not a problem for me at all though & I am nearly 60. Thanks for a great stay and sharing your family home with me.

Our son daughter-in-law and grandson loved the home from home experience. Great for location being near our daughter and shops in Newtown. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it will be available for our next NZ visit probably 2027. We will use it for ourselves as it was so much better than the place we stayed in. All the facilities we needed. Big enough for the family to get together and enjoy a family meal. The garden was a bonus. Just keep doing what you are doing.
