We stayed there for 4 nights to explore the area and have some rests after a long driving journey. We have 2 adults and a baby and everything is good. 13 mins walk to JR station and 15 mins to a Lawson. Another supermarket is just 15 mins walk but we did not go. We use washing machine there and cook all our meals. All good. Beds are ok for few nights. Tatami is clean enough and our baby can play there.

Authentic Minimalistic Japanese House in Koyasan

EvelynRating, 5 stars3 days ago
My only regret on our trip to Japan is not staying longer in Koyasan; we only had one night to spend there. The house itself is very peaceful and clean. We really enjoyed experiencing a stay in a traditional Japanese home. It was raining overnight and the rain on the rooftop sounded so beautiful. The home is perfectly located. It’s within walkable distance to Okunoin Cemetery, so I was able to wake up really early and walk through the Cemetery in the early morning light. The host was very helpful with every communication and provided many recommendations for what to do in Koyasan. I really hope we’ll be back one day to visit, for a longer stay.

Time travel to the Meiji era. Nature and historic buildings.

MalteRating, 5 stars1 month ago
I don’t even know how to start – this place is so magical that I almost didn’t want to write a review, just to keep it to myself. Staying here was everything I dreamed of: a traditional Japanese house, nestled deep in the forest on a mountain, surrounded by stunning nature. It’s simple in the most beautiful way – grounding, peaceful, and full of atmosphere. We stayed in two separate houses, both spacious, clean, and incredibly cozy. Sleeping on tatami mats, cooking in the rustic kitchen, grilling at the fire pit – every moment felt special. Our host was warm and welcoming, and even checked in to see if we needed anything. A small note: don’t come with a large car. The narrow mountain road and the steep driveway are a bit of an adventure themselves – but they are absolutely worth it. This place touched us deeply and has become a true place of longing. We’ll definitely come back and stay longer next time. Thank you for sharing this gem with the world.
