Family-friendly vacation rentals in Ester

We had a great time and loved the space. We saw a moose nearly every day just a few hundred yards west of the property.

Hot tub was amazing! Definitely would recommend having AWD or 4 wheel drive if you are visiting in winter. The roads up to the house are not cleared. We managed to make it in & out multiple times in a minivan, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Definitely take note of the hosts average response time. They were great, but didn’t respond to messages between approximately 7pm-10am local time. We experienced some issues with the heat during our visit but host did what they could to make our stay comfortable. Not too many tasks to do when checking out which was great! Very nice home. Seems to be well equipped for families.

Amazing stay, out of the world Hospitality and completely felt like a home away from home. One of my favorite stays ever. It was a very spacious cottage with very cozy vibes. Colleen wasn't around but had her friend Stacey to help us with all we need. They're both incredibly helpful (yes even Colleen although she wasn't around). It was a remarkable stay and I thought twice if I wanted to leave a good review and be selfish by gate keeping this gem but honestly.. They deserve every single star available. If there's a reason I ever come back, this place would be one huge one! Oh.. Not to mention, I caught a spectacular Aurora right outside the door on the very night I arrived. This place is a lucky spot!! ❤️❤️

The yurt was amazing! So cozy and clean and had awesome views! Colleen was incredibly responsive and even alerted me when the Northern Lights were expected to appear! The description of the yurt is incredibly accurate and the directions to the address were clear. The location is great for aurora viewing and for getting to some of the recommended viewing sites. It was so cool to stay in a yurt and I would highly recommend Colleen's place to anyone visiting the Fairbanks area.

This BnB is in a beautiful location on the Chena River and the rooms and amenities were very comfortable.

We loved Colleen’s yurts and really appreciate all that she does to keep them in great condition for guests. The view to the mountains was clear our first night. It was a bit cloudier the second night, but we still had a great time cozy inside. The drive up is definitely challenging in the winter, so if you can minimize that you’ll likely have a better stay.

Loved staying at Patty’s place! It was quiet and peaceful. Loved taking walks around the property. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Patty left lots of snacks, coffee, tea, cream, and sugar. This was so appreciated since we got in late and didn’t have a chance to get to the market our first night. I can’t wait to come back and I will definitely stay here again!

The view from the cabin is incredible and watching the northern lights at the cabin was perfect. Truly, a wilderness getaway that was restful. The winter roads were handled well with our all wheel drive. Plug in available for the vehicle. The hosts made sure we had firewood and that the winter trail was packed down and accessible. Beautiful walk through the property. The automatic hot water dispenser was our favorite bonus when needing to warm up from watching the northern lights.

We had a wonderful stay at Huffman Manor! There was so much space to spread out. Host provided little extra touches like chargers on the bedside tables and a full supply of spices and condiments to cook with. The house served as a peaceful retreat for our vacation. And we were lucky enough to get a little glance of the Northern Lights right from the property. If we find ourselves in Fairbanks again, we would certainly try to stay at Huffman Manor!

Lily is a wonderful host! This was our second stay with them. Their house is warm and welcoming, and easily accommodated our group of 8. The unit is very clean and has all the furnishings and amenities you need, including a full kitchen and washer/dryer. The beds are very comfortable, so it's easy to get a good night's sleep (unless you're looking at the aurora!). Lily greets you upon arrival and gives you a tour of the unit. She's always available via text to answer any questions, and she provides great insights and recommendations into local activities, such as dog sledding, snowshoeing, etc. If you're here during aurora season, there's no better place for viewing—all you have to do is walk out the front door! The house even has a webcam so you can check for aurora before going outside. The location is great, right in Fairbanks, a short drive to the airport. Shopping, restaurants, and activities are also within easy drives. You simply won't find a better place to stay in Fairbanks!

This is one of those places you can't have enough. It's a little piece of heaven. Really peaceful, with all that you need. Confortable, clean, private, with all that you need. Nancy is a great host. she gave us all the advices we needed and her recommendations were priceless, communication with her was always good. The cabin is near several interesting places and a 20 min drive to all the stores you need. I'll keep it as one of my favorites and I'm definitely coming back.

Stayed here March 2025 with my parents and Anna’s place was the perfect location for our needs! It was easy to get to, close to town but also far away enough to see the northern lights right from the driveway! Saw them almost every night of our stay with one strong show that was truly magnificent. Anna’s hospitality was also on point. After a long day of travel, arrived to find snacks waiting and other super nice amenities that added just that extra touch. And her response time to messages was superb. I do want to mention though, the faucet water smelled and tasted a bit like metal. It wasn’t discolored or anything so felt safe enough and I also read somewhere that that is a common issue in that area. We just bought some jugs of water from the store around the corner for drinking which was no big deal. Would definitely stay at this location again-especially when trying to comfortably chase the auroras! :)

Danny’s place had everything we needed, it was like walking into your own home. He was very responsive too. No complaints. If you’re looking for a great, quiet, town location - Danny’s is the place to be.

My favorite airbnb so far, I wish it were a rental!

I like this simple little place, out of town but not too far out. I’m a simple man and I like a basic no frills place to stay. It’s a good spot for single persons to stay. Moses is my go to when I come up to Fairbanks.
