Family-friendly vacation rentals in DeSoto County

Stayed 4 nights at Lisa and Roberts place. Home was clean and had all necessary amenities plus bonus things like spices, cooking oils/sprays and coffee. Not to mention the beach items like ice chest, chairs and umbrellas. We did not utilize, but there were also kayaks and bikes in the garage. Hosts were quick to respond and were always friendly. For example, when we arrived the lockbox was missing and there was no key, but we were still able to enter using the provided garage door code. Within about 20 minutes after notifying them about the lockbox, Robert arrived to replace it. By then we had found the key sitting in a bowl at the kitchen desk, so we were able to place the key in the lockbox upon check out. A/C was nice and cool, hot tub and showers were nice and warm, pool was refreshing. So happy for the screened in Lanai to keep the bugs out of the pool area. The neighborhood and very quiet. My family just spent a week at Turtle Landing and we liked it so much we booked for 2026 before we left. Although we arrived late at night, we were able to find the property easily as it was well marked and lit. The property is spacious and comfortable with a wrap around terrace which is tremendous and adds an additional room for gathering. The pool gets sun nearly all day, so we enjoyed finishing up our trips to the beach with some time around the pool. My niece and I made use of the kayaks, and there is plenty of areas to explore. This was a key attraction for us and a real differentiator when comparing properties. Turtle Landing has it all….beach nearby, kayaks for the bay, and a pool and hot tub! Scott was a lovely host and extremely responsive to inquiries. We did rent a golf cart from Barb and I recommend this as it gives you a chance to really explore the island….and allows you to quickly get to the beach, or the local water hole (Rum Bay) with ease. What a beautiful place to stay! It was so comfortable and quiet. The pool and Jacuzzi were awesome! We were 10 minutes from anything we needed. Great location and pleasant owners. They quickly responded to any of our questions. Would definitely reserve again.

Safe feeling in neighborhood. Close to many lakes from 10 min to 1 hour or two away if taking a boat. Our guys took a boat and fished all week while the girls laid by the pool at the house. It was fabulous. You will need to take chairs to layout in if you’re not in the pool. The only downside was it was 40-60 min from any major restaurants and Walmart. Juanita is great host and communicates quickly and very friendly.

We had an amazing stay during March 2025, with sunny weather every day. Doug and Moe were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The accommodations were clean and quiet. Perfect location. Highly recommend for a memorable experience. We had our kids and grandkids stay with us for a week and the home was able to accommodate all of us for a wonderful spring vacation. Will be back to stay again in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Paul and Nanci’s place! The space was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, making it feel like a home away from home. Paul and Nanci were excellent host, providing clear instructions and thoughtful touches throughout our stay. The highlight was definitely the breathtaking view from the observation deck – it was absolutely stunning, especially at sunset! And as for the fishing, the fish definitely bite – we had a great time casting a line and even caught a few! The location was perfect, with easy access to local attractions and restaurants. I highly recommend staying here and would definitely return on my next trip! Thank you, Paul and Nanci, for such a great experience!

This is an incredible house. The location is perfect and private. We had our little pug with us and it was exactly what we needed. The pool is warm and clean and very enjoyable as the sun goes down. The bed was super comfy and the kitchen well appointed. I’ve stayed at a lot of rentals and this is one of the best. If you’re looking for a rental just book this one. You won’t be disappointed.

The Duplex was very, very clean. The Charging Station located on the leather sofa was a wonderful extra benefit! Doris was quick to respond to the beeping smoke alarm at the time we checked into the Duplex. Another unexpected plus included the LED lighting on the King Bed headboard! The duplex is on a quiet street but also quick & easy access to a main highway. We were very pleased with our stay and will consider staying here next time.

Great location with lovely views. Home is very comfortable and super clean with perfect location with all the amenities you need. The host is very kind and she has excellent communication.

Great host! Very communicative. Wonderful, easy going condo. We enjoyed losing track of time while sitting on the screened-in porch watching the bay/waterfront.

After seeing all of the beautiful pictures & glowing reviews, we went to The Palms on Shamrock with high expectations. We were NOT disappointed!! It really felt as if we were guests in Greg & Tracy’s home instead of renters. That same courtesy extended to our fur baby as well. I was a flight attendant for 25 years so our family has traveled a lot. This vacation was special. None of us wanted to leave. It’s easy to see why they have so many return guests. The Bradley family will definitely be back 🤗

Amazing stay! Very private, gorgeous property. Our local contact was very responsive. It’s worth the stay just being next to the water and watching the wildlife! Would 100% stay again!

We felt at home, the place was warm and cozy. The instructions were all laid out about everything. The kitchen had everything! We spent most of our time in the pool. It was a great vacation. Pam did an awesome job in communicating and was very responsive. Highly recommend, we would stay again if we have family in town!! Kudos to Pamela and George for extra linens for all the beds, lots of bath towels and everything you need to go to the beach, including towels!

This home was perfect. It was very clean, and had lots of room for our family to spread out. We had both of my kids on virtual school, I had a few zoom calls for work and we took our breaks in the pool! We never ate indoors. The lanai was perfect, the beds were comfortable, and the bathtub was relaxing! Loved every minute in this house while visiting family.

We are snowbirds who stayed two months. Place is exactly as described. Clean and very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped, bed comfortable and location perfect. A very quiet neighborhood with very nice neighbors. Host and property manager were both always very responsive when I contacted either of them. The pool was lovely and maintained well. I would definitely stay again if we come back to this area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at William's place! It was peaceful and spacious, and the pool was a huge hit for our three teenagers! They have a beautiful home and shared many amenities with us to use during our stay. Public beaches weren't too far, and they provided recommendations in nearby areas. We will definitely be staying here again!
