Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Charente

This is a beautiful place to stay on the banks of the Charente which we enjoyed from the canoe but just loved seeing it flowing along edging the grounds. We came on the train which is a very easy journey from Paris to Jarnac. It is then less than an hours walk along the cycle path or quicker along the very quiet road. The market in Jarnac is excellent and there’s some nice cafes and bars. In Bourg Charente itself the bar tabac sells morning baguette and croissants, especially good to put an order in the day before. Also in the village La Ribaudiere restaurant was absolutely amazing and an experience not to be missed. So this is a great place to stay if you are car free like us but bicycles really help too especially with direct access to the 400 km path La Flow Velo. Lots of fun! Thanks to Andrea and Dominic.

Merci à Mélanie pour son accueil très agréable. Le rez de chaussée du logement est petit mais il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour un court séjour. Chambre spacieuse. Quartier très calme. Le logement est en retrait de la rue. Joli village avec des balades sans avoir besoin de prendre la voiture. Je recommande sans hésitation !🙂 Berthe

très bel hébergement dans la campagne Charentaise, très récent, très propre, au calme, tout en pouvant regagner Angoulême rapidement. hôte très accueillant et disponible.

Nous n’avons pas eu l’honneur de rencontrer Annie mais merci pour l’accueil ! Les instructions étaient claires et notre séjour très rapide. Le logement était adapté à notre besoin.

WE de mariage au Château de Brie (si vous faites du tourisme dans la région , ce beau domaine se visite) nous avons apprécié nos quelques heures de repos dans la très paisible petite maison de Jeannette. Nous n'avons pas pû nous rencontrer mais nous avons eu de très bons échanges avec Jeannette pour préparer notre arrivée.

Nous avons apprécié notre halte au petit mas. Endroit calme, belles balades à proximité. Jean-Marie est accueillant et discret. Le logement est fidèle à la description, belle déco, petite salle de bain très fonctionnelle et lit confortable. Le petit déjeuner proposé est délicieux. Idéal sur la route des vacances ou pour une halte de quelques jours. En bref, une très bonne adresse, nous y reviendrons certainement !

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad in dit authentieke Franse huis op het platteland! In alle rust, midden in de natuur. Vrijwel geen menselijke geluiden te horen, zó heerlijk. Een fijn zwembad tot onze beschikking om af te koelen. Tuin is volledig omheind, dus onze hond kon veilig los. Extra (klap)bedden zijn niet geschikt voor volwassenen ;-) Het plaatsje Civray heeft meerder grote supermarkten, waarvan wij de Super- U het fijnste vonden. Het plaatsje Condac (kanoën/sup/zwem gebied), Nateuile-en-Vallée (leuk parkje Jardin de I’Argentor én sfeervol koffietentje Lolly’s), Ruffec (idyllisch dorpje) vonden wij erg leuk; allen in de buurt! O en het gerestaureerde beekje Fontaine et Lavoir de Cornac is ook leuk om even te gaan bekijken (Saint- Gaudent). Ze hebben daar de stroming terug gebracht om te zorgen dat biodiversiteit (insecten, waterplanten en vissen) weer wordt bevorderd. Vergeet niet om ook aan de andere kant van de weg te gaan kijken! :-)

We really liked Thomas’ place. The pool is much better than the photos look and the pool was very clean. A great little seating area under a canopy and plenty of sun loungers. Rarely used by anyone else! Good location for road cycling (road cyclists from UK will find the roads undulating and open). Really nice peaceful setting. Really quiet. WiFi good enough to do video calls to work from the house.

Sophie and Craig were the perfect hosts, they were so friendly and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. There was a welcoming (and much appreciated) basket of goodies waiting for us on our arrival and a bottle of wine in the fridge. The gite was just as described and the perfect place to unwind. Lovely views throughout the meadow and surrounding area, the natural pool was a delight. The chickens provided fresh eggs for breakfast and the dogs, Roo and Ted are adorable. We would totally recommend this place and we will definitely return. Kim and Carol

Nous avons séjourné dans un cadre enchanteur. La maison est spacieuse, confortable et bien équipée avec la sensation d’être comme chez soi ! La piscine était propre et agréable bien que nécessitant un rafraîchissement. Nous avons pu profiter d’un magnifique paysage et d’une vue sur les champs de vignes avec un accès direct pour la promenade. Terrain clos pratique avec un chien.

Nous avions choisi ‘Le Manoir’ pour son cadre et la décoration ‘So British’ Nous n’avons pas été déçu! Au contraire on s’est tout de suite bien senti dans notre logement de vacances. Grace notamment aux détails (lits anciens mais excellentes literies) cuisine très bien équipée et que dire de la salle de bain grandiose!!!! Nous avons un seul petit bémol : la vaisselle pour 6 personnes est un peu juste. L’ accueil et la réactivité de Scottie ainsi que de Kerstie sont à la hauteur des lieux.

Magalie et Pascal sont des hôtes très accueillants et forts sympathiques. Le logement est au calme, fonctionnel, avec une très bonne literie et idéalement situés dans le Périgord vert. Je recommande ce havre de paix ...

Prachtige chalet op een rustige en geweldig mooie locatie. Zeer behulpzame host! Wij hebben er maar kort verbleven omdat wij op doorreis waren maar ik zou er zo een hele vakantie kunnen boeken. De omgeving is ook geweldig mooi.

très beau séjour entre amis dans un environnement verdoyant. la maison très propre et décorée avec soin est très confortable. la piscine chauffée est indispensable pour des journée ensoleillées.

Idéal pour des retrouvailles en famille et entre amis. le logement est spacieux, tout le monde y trouve sa place. l'extérieur est superbe, calme, parfait pour les enfants. La maison est très bien équipée. Nous reviendrons !

A gem of a place ! It is not easy to find places in the region that are not exorbitantly expensive or furnished from grandma's leftovers; this hits a perfect note with a mixture of stylish antiques and comfort, everything has been thought of down to the Savon de Marseille in the bathrooms! Clearly lots of love has been poured into the house and it shows, from a well stocked larder with everyday essentials (including coffee pods for the machine) to the lovely welcome hamper. The garden at the back overlooking the old monastery is perfect and very secluded and even though it was only April I managed to eat outside each morning and evening (there are 3 other terraces too). The host is on hand easily for tips on where to eat or visit if needed. Tusson is a great village with a good places to eat including the wonderful Gateaux for amazing cakes.

Notre séjour s’est très bien passé dans la Maison Benaise. Nous n’avons manqué de rien et avons pu cuisiner comme à la maison. Le terrain, bien clôturé, a permis à nos chiennes de se dépenser à leur guise, avec en prime une vue sur les chevaux ! La météo n’était pas avec nous mais la proximité des sentiers nous a permis de découvrir les alentours entre deux averses. Beaucoup de sentiers à découvrir à proximité!
