Farmstay vacation rentals in Central Otago District

Photos don’t do the view justice. Jeremy was a great host. This is a cabin type experience. We stayed in the winter and used the cottage as a home base for skiing and other activities which was great. Quick ride over to Arrowtown and Queenstown but far away enough to feel private and peaceful. Some important points regarding previous reviews I read about the place being “cold”…the ground floor is all slate stone…as Jeremy recommended, just bring some sandals or slippers to wear around. There is a large heat pump, a lovely pot belly stove, and space heaters and all the beds have blanket heaters which we actually didn’t use because they were too hot…so it’s easy to stay warm and the view and coziness are well worth it, but if you’re expecting a thermostat in a hotel room that you set and leave…this wouldn’t be the place for you. We loved our stay and the host was very responsive.

A true bed and breakfast in a sea of stale air bnbs! Sharon met me upon arrival and showed me to my private abode in the center of a working cherry (and other things!) farm. The fridge was stocked with eggs, milk, butter and bread, and there was a nespresso machine + a selection of teas. She also gave me a book of local wineries and their backgrounds which I greatly appreciated and used throughout my stay. Would stay here again if I’m ever back in the area!

Beautiful home, so lovely to have the fire set. Ready to be lit on arrival . Ideal location for my daughter’s wedding. The host was fantastic, easy to deal with. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend the Vulcan hotel for meals and drinks.

Great spot! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The views were beautiful and we loved saying hello to Beau the dog everyday. We enjoyed the location as was peaceful, was a comfortable stay.

This was our second stay with Lynne, we had a wonderful time. A warm, cozy home with stunning views. Love the outdoor fire. Lynne thought of everything! Definitely recommend.

Lisa's place is highly recommended. What a beautiful cottage, many things that make this stay special. Lisa and Matt are wonderful hosts and we wish we could of stayed longer but NZ has so much to see.

Anyone wanting to stay in Cromwell do not look anywhere else but this cottage. Spacious, fantastic cottage garden complete with rabbits, hedgehogs, quails and many other birds. The scenery of lake Dunston and the mountains from the patio is to die for. Lucie is a wonderful host replying within minutes to any queries. While staying at the accommodation one tour which we highly recommend is the Clyde Dam Tour.

Lovely old cottage with a beautiful garden. Very peaceful and remote. Alice was super helpful. We loved it and would stay again if in the area.

We cannot say enough good things about this fantastic Lavender Farm home. It is beautifully decorated, was spotlessly clean, incredibly well-equipped, the location was very handy and the grounds just lovely. We were impressed with how warm the house stayed overnight, even on very crisp mornings—the quality of build is imminently evident. Our family extended our stay as we couldn’t bear to leave, and we wish we could live there forever. Thank you as well to Jane for being a responsive host, and we highly rate this experience to future guests.

This is the best AIRBNB we have EVER stayed in (and we've stayed in loads all over the world). Emilie's place is idyllic - even better than the pictures. There are epic mountain views out every window, the space is light, bright and very welcoming with lots of exposed wood and calming decor. Every corner of this house has been thought about - it is a master class in hosting. There are multiple social spaces outside the house to make the most of the sun and views at every time of the day. Our 2 kids had the time of their lives racing around the property, jumping on the tramp and enjoying the hot tub. Emilie was extremely accommodating with our sleeping requirements and on arrival there were thoughtful complimentary extras including local sparkling wine, chocolates and coffee. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with basic ingredients and every appliance you could wish for. The surrounding area is stunning, lake Hawea being the most stunning lake we saw. Highly recommend a stay here.

We checked out a day earlier because of a water issue at the property due to external reasons. Karen refunded the entire amount. That said, the property is beautiful with amazing views. it's done up very tastefully with modern and high quality amenities. Very serene, private surroundings. Great for exploring the Wanaka region.

A lovely peaceful spot surrounded by farm life. A wonderful bonus being able to bring the family dog with us too. A home away from home.

We had a beautiful stay in Otematata, very peaceful and clean - exactly as described in the listing! Nice touches too; a selection of teas, plenty of extra blankets, and a well equipped kitchen. This place is such great value, and I’d love to come back! Thanks Robyn and Ross :)

Our stay at Letti and Hamish's was amazing. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We hung out on the farm for many days and soaked up the mountain sun -- playing with the animals, jumping on the trampoline, sitting in the spa. It was very near to Arrowtown - a beautiful small town with some great restaurants and neat things for our family to do. It wasn't far from Queenstown where there is loads to do if you want more action. Biking the area was a blast, too. We were sad to go! We will look for a repeat stay if we find ourselves back in southern New Zealand!

We were lucky to be the first to stay in this modern cosy apartment. Everything is new and clean and so we had everything we needed for a busy social holiday. The location is fantastic as you can walk into town. Katherine was really fast to respond. Definitely will stay again. Also book the studio behind for bigger families or friends.

Our stay was great, we were a family of four adults and it suited us perfectly. The cottage was just as described and Jackie was a welcoming, friendly host. Everything was clean and tidy, and in great working order. The surroundings were peaceful and just a short drive from Cromwell itself. It was a great base from which to explore Arrowtown and Queenstown as well. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This is one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed in. The hosts are so generous and the Cottage is so nicely situated and appointed that we felt privileged to stay here. Provided breakfast items, snacks, fruits, and beverages were much appreciated, too. So close to many wonderful wineries, and the nearby Bannockburn Hotel is not to be missed for dinner. Chris and Jules (and friendly Lenny underfoot) made us feel so welcome in this peaceful and restful setting, with excellent views in all directions. Highly recommended!

It was so nice to be welcomed to the cottage by Peter who lit the fire before our arrival. He showed us around and offered suggestions for places to visit. The homemade bread was delicious and the other breakfast treats were abundant. The large kitchen table enabled us to have convivial conversations over meals. There were plenty of towels and extra linen, the shower/toilet area was clean and the beds were comfortable. We will definitely book a weekend here again.

Irwin Cottage is gorgeous! It was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. We will be back.

Mags's place was beautiful. The space is well and carefully curated and very comfortable, beautiful sunset views and lovely birdsong in the mornings. The lack of kitchen sink can make it slightly difficult, but the addition of the dishwasher alongside the bathroom sink make it workable. Bed is very comfortable and had great linens and a nice warm duvet. Would definitely stay again if we come back to Wanaka.
