Vacation rentals with a kayak in Cape Charles

We liked Charlie’s spot so much we came back again this year! Family loves the space, outdoor water sports, and crabbing off the dock (which has been nicely upgraded). I recommend paddling out to the recommended sandbars. Great views, peaceful, and a nice mix of outdoor activity without having to drive anywhere. Highly recommended and we’ll likely be back.

We decided to take this trip to celebrate our anniversary and the kids last day of school. From the moment we stepped inside we were taken aback about how beautiful the home is and the views! The little touches around the home did not go unnoticed, from a sweet welcome present, having paper for a seafood boil, to water on the night stands. Game room, kids LOVED it (as well as the parents) and had anything you could think of and put our minds at ease if it rained we knew the kids will be off electronics and not be bored! We went kayaking and relaxed on the dock and we even caught some crabs. Overall you cannot go wrong with Gillian’s home. Anything and everything you need is there! Bring yourself and some food and enjoy an incredible place! You won’t want to leave!

Oyster Haven, that it is! Our hosts thought of everything. The house was well stocked and had upgraded appliances. Everything was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hosts were very responsive to every question we had. The area is very quiet with beautiful water views. The back screened in porch was perfect for lounging out of the sun. We loved watching the Osprey build their nest and the bunnies hop around the yard. It was the perfect place for our Easter egg hunt. The mini private beach had beautiful sand and oyster shells galore. Lots of restaurants were close by with dine in or take out options. Some had water views. The food was fresh and delicious. Our favorite was White Dog Bistro. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Oyster Haven. Thank you, Kelly & Ben, for being such wonderful hosts.

My wife is a bit of a planner so scheduling a last-minute getaway is not something I do often, but I'm so glad I did. This was exactly what we needed, A few days away from the stresses of life and family. This home met all of those needs. It was quiet, secluded and overall a very beautiful location and home. It had everything we needed and more. The small towns of White Stone and Kilmarnock offered many fantastic food options which we definitely took advantage of. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. We have already started looking to see if we can plan a trip here with the whole family. Thanks again to our host who was very responsive and helped answer all of our questions.

This was was a great spot for us to relax on our way home from OBX. The house is big and comfortable and we felt right at home. We managed to get to the Bethel Beach Nature Preserve (nearby and on the bay), Haven Beach (recommended for swimming), and we went to the farmer's market. We met a number of locals who were all friendly. We wish we had more time to try out the kayaks.

So glad we found this gem of a location and grateful to our hosts for sharing it with us! Was the perfect quiet weekend getaway for the two families that stayed, and plenty for our tweens and teens to do. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing from the dock and appreciate the generosity of the hosts allowing us to use the SUP, kayak, etc. Laura was very helpful in all communications, before and during our stay. Would definitely stay again!

My family had the pleasure of renting this wonderful home, and I must say it exceeded all our expectations. The location was ideal, with both private and public beach access a short drive away. This home is located on a peaceful street, allowing for a good night’s rest. The house itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made it feel like a second home. The attention to detail in terms of amenities and extras was impressive. What truly made our experience stand out was the exceptional communication and hospitality provided by the host. Their instructions were clear, concise, and extremely helpful, making it easy for us to settle in and make the most of our short stay. Cape Charles is a charming town, with its quaint shops, restaurants, and theater all conveniently located on Mason Avenue, making it easy to explore and find everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay at this peaceful waterfront house on Church Creek. Communication with the hosts was great. The house was clean and very well equipped and organized. We appreciated having access to kayaks and life jackets. If you're looking for a quiet retreat with easy access to points of interest on the Eastern Shore of Virginia we would highly recommend this rental.

Took my adult siblings and parents to Taryn’s property & everyone has already asked “can we go back next year?” The seclusion, water views, and acreage to explore was incredible. We were excited to take our dogs who loved running through the marsh out to the beach. Yes, there’s a lot of flies and ticks due to the marshy area, but we brought plenty of bug spray and checked the dogs each evening for ticks. Definitely recommend catching a sunset on the beach. No frills, no fuss..lots of fun & no-phone-service family bonding time.

What a perfect cottage! Beautifully (but comfortably) furnished, right on the water, incredibly well-stocked. Arranged so families can spread out, or gather together. Everything you could possibly require or desire for a vacation or getaway was there. And the area is full of things to do--walks, birdwatching, antiquing, or, if you're an architecture geek like me, historic sites and buildings. You're also a 3-minute walk from the best restaurant on the Northern Neck, Merroir Tasting Room. Can't wait to come back.

I really loved the house we had a nice time and i most definitely will get it again and Tammy is wonderful. We you get there you will feel like home and the house have EVERYTHING that you would need the view is beautiful thumbs up for this house!!!

We loved out time at this Bayside home. My boys spent outside upon hours at the little private beach, where the water doesn't really get deep for quite a ways and the waves were never very rough. it was perfect for them. we all enjoyed the hot tub, kayaks, comfortable beds. My personal favorite was the hammock right by the water, listening to nothing but the waves and the calls of the ospreys that made the area their home. Forget the overly built up touristy areas and give this place a try. You will not regret it.

Had an amazing getaway weekend on Smith Island staying at Janet’s Cottage. Came by private boat from Pocomoke and stayed 2 nights. VERY easy boat access . Well protected and safe. Enjoyed the weekend walking around and exploring everything Smith Island has to offer. Highly recommend for a peaceful weekend getaway

Very secluded but I don't mind that all. The home is beautiful and the host is very attentive.

Mystic Is a quaint, clean and welcoming houae. All details from pictures to knick knacks create a complete theme. Instructions were easy and thoughtful. Communications were prompt and thorough. This home and its owners create a perfect sanctuary.

Karen’s place was a perfect weekend getaway for a couple. The place had everything we needed and the location was peaceful and beautiful. Karen was very helpful and responsive with recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay here. Very quiet area, nice comfortable space. The gravel road leading in (maybe a half-mile long) and driveway gave us a good area for morning and evening dog walks. We did not end up doing any fishing but the pond looked like a great place for kayak fishing. Not specific to the house but in the area: Rita's Cafe in Weems was great (food truck on a small road)--Chef Craige usually has a special and some regular menu items. Leadbellys (at Fairport Marina) had good oysters and hush puppies and was convenient for our first night. River Market in White Stone has good food to be ordered at the rear counter and prepared items in the coolers. Out of the Oven Bakery (White Stone) had great bread Miss Mary's seafood, also in White Stone had great fresh fish and prepared items. The three places in White Stone are very close to each other so convenient when running out.

I am running a program out of this home all year long and we have 4 retreats at the property which I'll write a review for each time we stay. We got to experience the season of winter in January complete with a beautiful snowfall the last day of our trip. This time, we got to experience the spring...the season of rebirth. I am grateful for everything the home and land provided to us during this last experience. The home feels like our home while we are there and it has everything we need. Thank you so much!

We piled 5 adults and a toddler into the house on Kelley Neck Drive, and it worked just fine! Bathrooms, AC, kitchen, appliances, etc, all worked perfectly, the furniture was comfortable and in good shape, and the house was spacious. The yard was perfect for us, but might have been small for older kids, and I wish there had been more than one kayak (but even one kayak was a bonus!) The heron was fishing at the mouth of the our private lagoon every morning, and an osprey and eagle visited as well. We barely heard any neighbors, and the nights were quiet and peaceful. Thank you!

We loved staying here, especially the bug-proof patio area for bird watching and the kayaks that we used to explore the river.

We stayed for an annual ladies' trip. I loved the peaceful views from the porch and kayaking by herons. My friends got a kick out of catching and cooking crabs for the first time. When I asked about a crab pot for cooking their hoped-for haul, the hosts ordered one for delivery right away. Great place to hang with friends, but I'm sure my kids would also love the firepit, the dock, and the kayaks. Thank you!

Our experience at Ted and Jen's house by the beach was amazing. We enjoyed it so much! The house was clean and comfortable, with all the little touches like a basket of snacks and a can of bug spray. Ted and Jen were amazing hosts. From meeting us at the ferry, to showing us a little tour of the island on the way to the house, to giving us pointers on how to enjoy the area, Ted and Jen gave us the full Tangier Island experience. We expect to make this a yearly summer tradition!

This cabin was the perfect getaway for my family. The waterfront location is absolutely stunning, and my sons had a fantastic time playing in the water. The cabin is exceptionally well-equipped, providing everything we could possibly need. It's a true escape from civilization, offering a profound sense of peace and tranquility. We're grateful to Justin for sharing his beautiful cabin with us. We're already looking forward to returning in the near future!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

This place was as described. Very peaceful get away for my family and totally worth the price we paid. Teresa was quick to respond and recommended some place to eat. We will be back to experience the fall weather.
