Nicky is a fantastic host. First of all, he created a beautiful, characteristic, refined, welcoming, modern house, with attention to every detail. Independent entrance and delightful garden... ❤️ Then he even accommodated a special request😍. The village doesn't have much to offer, but a few minutes away there are beautiful beaches (Luz Burgau and Salema). 20 minutes away there is Lagos, where you can find everything, a town with no flaws, with the most famous beaches in the Algarve! And 25/30 minutes in the opposite direction there is SAGRES, a natural paradise where we saw the most beautiful sunset of our lives. If I were to return to the Algarve, I would choose to stay here again, a perfect 😍 location for a stay with less tourist crowds and more authentic. Thank you Nicky for this opportunity. I just point out that the bedroom and the bathtub are not easily accessible for those with serious mobility difficulties, but for everyone else they are a romantic plus. 🥰

We absolutely fell in love with Portha Velha. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt completely at home. The charming house is spacious and full of thoughtful touches. Set in a traditional village with a serene atmosphere, it’s the perfect escape from the busy world. There’s one little store and a cozy coffee place nearby that features traditional live music every Friday! The fully equipped kitchen made cooking a joy, and the orange juicer quickly became one of my favorite parts of the stay. The attic space is perfect for yoga or meditation as it can get quite warm upstairs. Despite that, the house stays pleasantly cool thanks to its thick brick walls. Portha Velha is also perfectly located for discovering the beautiful Algarve region—whether you’re heading to the coast, exploring local villages, or enjoying the countryside, everything is within easy reach. Nicki, the co-host, was fantastic—very responsive and easy to reach.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay in this charming little wooden wagon. It’s been beautifully converted into a cozy tiny home, with everything you need for a comfortable getaway. The atmosphere inside is incredibly warm and inviting, we felt at home right away. What made it special was the stunning view from the porch. Surrounded by nature, it felt like a peaceful escape from the world. Whether enjoying our morning coffee or just sitting outside in the evening, the scenery was very beautiful. Overall, we had a very good time and left feeling completely recharged. Highly recommend this unique spot for anyone looking to slow down and enjoy some quiet time in nature!

We had a really good time at Majas place. The landscape is just beautiful and perfect for hiking. There are also multiple beaches nearby (around 20 min by car). Maya kindly invited us to a small local celebration in the village, where she performed in a choir together with some of the eldest members of the community. It gave us a wonderful glimpse into the village life and Portuguese culture — truly one of the highlights of our stay! We would definitely come back :)
