Big Aframe Hut for 4 guests

We had a fun stay at Suzanna's. You will have to take a taxi out to her place, but Suzanna will coordinate the taxi for you ~ $20 which I highly recommend. The beds are pretty comfortable, but if you are a sensitive sleeper you may want ear plugs for the roosters who like to crow in the middle of the night. The temperature in the room is super comfortable with the overhead fan. Suzanna made us a delicious breakfast. It is an additional charge, but well worth it. She helped coordinate a fabulous night tour in the area and a tour down to the peninsula. Make sure you have cash to pay for the tour as there aren't any ATMs in Dos Brazos. You will see LOTs of incredible wildlife, but make sure you know Spanish or someone in your group can translate for you so you can understand all the great history/details. Our children just did a great job practicing their Spanish and we had a fabulous tour(s)!

Ocean View cabin in Finca Exotica ecolodge

OscarRating, 5 stars11 months ago
Words will never do this place justice. Both the lodge itself and the surroundings are stunningly beautiful. The pictures give a slight impression, but the place must be experienced to really understand the beauty of this place. The cabins are placed up on a hill with an amazing view over the jungle and the ocean. Macaws are flying over you all day. Coatis, tapirs, agutis and monkeys cross the grounds and nature trails are plentiful. We did a trek into Corcovado through la Leona gateway which was well worth it. Way less crowded than la Sirena and the scenery is incredible. I also took some yoga classes while I was there. The yoga itself was great and the cherry on the top was 8 macaws settling into a tree right in front of the yoga platform during class. We were also really pampered with delicious food and smoothies. We got there by cab which took something like 1 h 45 m each way. On the way there the driver spotted loads of animals for us. I’m so grateful for the whole experience.

Great place to stay in Drake Bay! Super peaceful - perfect if you want to relax and enjoy the nature around. The cabin is surrounded by trees, and we spotted toucans, iguanas, even some macaws right from the terrace, which was amazing. The host is really kind and takes great care of the guests. You’ve got everything you need here. There's even a washing machine and a spin dryer, which is super useful in this humid part of Costa Rica. If you're coming to Drake, this place is a great choice.
A tranquil river view showcases the calm water reflecting soft sunset colors, with a wooden dock extending into the river. Lush green foliage lines the riverbank, creating a serene backdrop as clouds drift across the sky.

Vista Drake Bungalow with AC and Ocean View

PegRating, 5 stars14 months ago
We used Vistadrakelodge to stay in Drake Bay on our way to and from an overnight trip to Corcovado Preserve. We stayed a relaxed extra day after, swinging in the hammocks on the deck overlooking the sea. It had lovely views of the sea, birds and monkeys in its gardens and trees. And much enjoyed air conditioning! Emilio was great, met us at the boat from Sierpe to take us up the short hill from the beach, even though it would have been an easy 5 minute walk. He offered to take us to his farm to walk in nature but we were too tired to take the offer. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. He can also help arrange local boat tours and arranged our return trip back to Sierpe. Easy walk to several restaurants in town and the beach.

#16 Jade Mar Cabana Privada Vista Al Mar

EmilieRating, 5 stars17 months ago
Loved our stay at Hennar place! She was super friendly and always available to answer our questions. So was Pascal for that matter! We were grateful to get insider tips from him. Our cabana was perfect! Better than what I had expected. Big, large windows, cleaned everyday, close to everything. Loved the view of the ocean-we even saw monkeys right in front a few times. We stayed 5 nights total which was good amount of time to explore Drake bay. We did 2 guided activities: Jungle tour and snorkelling tour And 2 days exploring on our own. Our favorite was definitely exploring on our own. We simply adored walking up the river to the waterfall:) Wow! And also enjoyed the walk to playa Caletas. Drake bay is really a magical place and Hennar’s cabana is convientely located to allow you to discover it!

Hotel Margarita is located about a 5 minute walk up a hill from the main beach in Drake Bay. It was a great value for a stay in Drake Bay if you are looking for a modern clean hotel with good amenities -- it has a pool, A/C, and a great restaurant. All meals and drinks were really good -- I'd say the best in Drake Bay -- and they were very accommodating to serve early morning breakfast for those who had booked early tours. During check-in Mauricio was able to book two tours for us -- Cano Island and the 1-day hike to Sirena Station in Corcovado Park -- and coordinate to have us picked up by the tour company, which was very convenient and saved us reaching out to them directly. Overall I recommend Hotel Margarita for your Drake Bay stay, I think it would be especially good for travelers with kids given the pool, A/C, and convenient restaurant.

Sabalo Lodge - Tours & Cabins - Forest Shop

AlonRating, 5 stars38 months ago
We came to Sabalo Lodge through a recommendation of a friend, and we enjoyed our stay. We arrived in the pouring rain but thankfully Philippe was there to pick us up and make the whole transfer and check-in process smooth. The tents are basic but very comfortable, though the wildlife surrounding the tents and the lodge is just astounding. Every morning we woke up to monkeys in the trees next to us, tons of birds, and the obligatory friendly lodge dog (plus neighbourhood dogs :)). The price included breakfast, which was lovely and freshly prepared, and overall the staff was very friendly. We did some fun walking in the jungle and went to the nearby waterfalls, as well as heading out to Cano Island for snorkelling. They will assist with all the bookings. Another amazing surprise was dinner at "la Colombiana" next door, who cooked the most delicious meal for us in the evening. The lodge is off the beaten track, and unlike Drake's Bay there is no entertainment nearby, so be prepared for early nights.
Aerial view captures a lush green landscape surrounding a tranquil plunge pool. Tall trees and tropical foliage frame the pool area, creating a secluded oasis. The vibrant greenery hints at the abundant wildlife in the nearby rainforest.

Our stay at Laguna Vista Villas was the highlight of my birthday trip to Costa Rica. Keiko is so friendly and was helpful with putting us in touch with local tour guides. The Villas are beautiful and the views are spectacular. The beds are comfortable, the water pressure is great, the food was amazing. Everything about the location and staff was just wonderful, I cannot say enough good things about this place. Keiko and Greg made us feel right at home, I recommend this to anyone looking for a remote and unforgettable experience.

An excellent choice in Drake Bay. The rooms are very spacious, with large beds and a super comfortable bathroom. They also have a refrigerator, which is a big plus. The location is ideal: just 200 meters from the sea and steps away from all the restaurants and markets in the area. In addition, the hotel has a perfect pool to cool off and a space with hanging sun loungers where you can rest and enjoy the surroundings. Although breakfast is not included, it can be booked at the hotel bar. It is plentiful, accessible and really delicious. Highly recommended for a comfortable, relaxed and conveniently located stay. Ideal for families looking for tranquility and comfort close to everything.

Andre’s place is definitely stunning! We came from Drake bay, the boat drop us close by, Andre and his uncle picked us up by car. The wooden cabin hides among the palm trees and flowers, parrots jumping on top of the almond trees. In the back of the cabin we have a beautiful open meditation room. Facing the wild. We even observed Tucan during dinner time! The hotel also offers free kayak, you can paddle all the way to the ocean... a paradise waterfall is also near by. Everything here reminds us how free and beautiful life is. Last but not least, Andre and his family are wonderful. Thank you so much!

Sabalo Lodge-Casa Lapa - Tours & Cabins

This place was an absolute gem. Set back in the Jungle near the Sierpe river we felt like we were on another planet. Phillipe was an incredibly welcoming host and made ever part of our stay fantastic. Make sure you set up tours though him as they were able to pick us yo right on the river instead of having to drive to town. You do probably need 4 wheel drive to get the the lodge, but the drive was beautiful. Taking the ferry across the river really added to the experience. Take the time to go eat dinner at the neighbors place, she made food that was delicious and so filling.

Private bungalow with bathroom and balcony

KevinRating, 5 stars27 months ago
This place was beyond my wildest dreams. After having traveled all around the world, I have never stayed at a place so unfathomably beautiful, so seamlessly connected to the natural world around, and so ready to welcome anyone and everyone into the loving, easy care of Costa Rica's pura vida. Literally next door to Corcovado National Park, easily within reach of Caño Island, and far enough from Drake Bay to feel like you're off the beaten tourist path. Even *getting* to Ocean Forest is an adventure worth having, whether by boat through old mangrove forests and along rugged coastline, or by 4x4 across two rivers and dense jungle. And upon arriving, the remoteness creates a sense of oneness with other travelers and the staff alike. Everyone feels like they are in on a really, really good secret. Where we stayed was elegant, simple, and in touch with the nature around: fresh sheets, delicious and accommodating meals, and beautiful places to reflect, swim, surf, wander, or practice yoga.

Ocean Forest Ecolodge Matrimonial Beach Bungalow

NikkiRating, 5 stars27 months ago
The cabin is in a small and laidback resort. There is a yoga shala, and the staff can help with booking tours and more. The location is very remote (twenty minute walk on the beach), so it's adviced to pack light. It's also a beautiful place, with a big private beach but also in the jungle. We observed all kinds of animals, including macaws and monkeys. There are no nearby restaurants, but there are meals in the resort at extra cost. All in all a great place, and we would have loved to stay longer if we could.

We had a great time at Terrazas del Golfo and Playa blanca. The hotel is just in front of the sea, and the sunset. You can find sloths and parrot in the trees around, and there are many restaurants close to the place. Vencini was very nice and kind with, she speaks perfect english and knows a lot of things about the area and all costa rica. And her gallo pinto is remarkable. I recommend it +++

Lagunavista Lodge is a fascinating place with the private deck for our bungalow overlooking the natural lagoon. From there we could see crocodiles surface and then disappear - ominously...But in actuality our favorite parts of our stay were our guided trips led by Freddie kayaking on the lagoon while birding, and fishing, and searching for crocodiles after dark! Greg and Keiko are friendly and helpful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinners spent with them and the other guests. Highly recommended!

Look no further!!! This place was absolutely amazing. The communication with the host was quick, clear and efficient. Upon arriving the check in is located at the restaurant (behind the rooms) there’s a little office off of the main restaurant. Hemi, the lady who works in the office is the nicest lady ever, she explained everything to us upon arrival. I highly recommend reserving your breakfast at the restaurant for the next morning. Not only is it absolutely delicious, they also have your table set upon arrival with hot coffee waiting for you and your meal out in literally minutes. This was great for the mornings we had tours and had to be up and out early. They open at 5am. The location is steps to the beach. The room was immaculately clean. They come in and clean your room every day. Which is welcomed after sandy beach days. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and the room over all was perfect! Highly recommend, this place is a vibe! Pura Vida!
