Tree House ~ Whidbey Island, WA

We invite you to experience a relaxing and rejuvenating 'Retreat' or Get-A-Way in our Tree Home Suite on Whidbey Island WA...just 1 hour north of Seattle. You'll surely transend the bustle of busy life and be transformed as you immerse yourselves in this incredibly peaceful and healing environment. Enjoy 'full-circle' views of rich woods in our 250 Sq ft Octagon Tree Home with a gorgeous cedar tree going straight up through the center of the living space! A solid stairway travels 13 ft above the ground, leading to the 10' x 12' covered deck and your doorway to heavenly rest and retreat! Surround windows and skylights in the roof peak allow you to feel what it's like to be completely immersed in a beautiful, serene, healing forest of cedar, fir, hemlock, maple, alders, varieties of fern...and oh...enjoy watching and listening to our 'resident' deer, owls, ravens, eagles and many other birds. Look up through the skylight roof peak to behold a seemingly unending kaleidoscope view of tree limbs circling their trunks as they reach high in the sky. Be sure to see all the photos posted above including views of the beach, water and stunning sunsets over the Olympic Mountains.....easily accessible, less than 1/2 mile away. This gem is best suitable for adults, but we do allow children 12 and older too. Three adults can manage better than 4 because the hide-a-bed is a 'half-way-between-twin-and-double' size. However it has slats and an excellent quality foam mattress so it does not have the typical hide-a-bed 'bars' to contend with, nor does it sink in the middle. We provide single-sized, thick and dense foam pads and linens when needed for extra people. Please feel free to ask us how we can best meet your unique needs. Accommodations in the Tree House include: Queen Bed, "Sort of" Double Hide-a-bed Sofa (see paragraph above), Desk, Dining Table, Free Wi-Fi, Smart TV and DVD player. Duckless heatpump for heating and air. The electric 'Fireplace' adds warmth and ambiance. We provide a fridge (with freezer), microwave, dishes and silverware for prep and eating simple meals, warmed up left-overs, etc. We just don't allow 'cooking', using hot plates or fry pans, etc.... The fire pit may be used to enjoy a campfire and grill or roast hamburgers, hotdogs and marshmallows. Substantial cooking here with your own cooking equipment is not encouraged because that would require more extensive 'clean-up' than just a few dishes and utensils Our drain field is small and we want to keep the flow of gray water into it 'frugal' and biodegradable as much as possible. Your own private (and VERY cute) Shower House just a few footsteps away provides a shower, sink and state-of-the-art, no-odor composting toilet. We do have a porta-potty (marine type) on the deck of the Tree House for the middle-of-the-night needs so you don't have to trudge down in the dark to the composting toilet in the Shower House. Please read the house rules before you reserve to see if this type of accommodation is right for you.

All about Whidbey Island

This seahorse-shaped island in Puget Sound forms an idyllic sanctuary 35 miles northwest of Seattle. Nature features prominently here with six state parks, including Washington’s most-visited one, Deception Pass. Explore the pass’s cliffs and coves, as well as its iconic bridge soaring 18 stories above a current-swept saltwater channel prized by divers and kayakers. Hikes and beach walks abound across Whidbey Island, along with wildlife viewing (common critters include bald eagles, river otters, and Steller sea lions).

Cultural attractions are a big pull here, too. For great dining, head to Langley in the south, and Coupeville and Oak Harbor to the north; don’t miss the local mussels and Kumamoto oysters. Meanwhile art buffs can tour murals, galleries, studios, and two sculpture parks. With its mellow, artsy vibe, Whidbey Island makes for a dreamy getaway that’s still close to Washington’s biggest city.

What are the top things to do in Whidbey Island?

Boeing Future of Flight

Immerse yourself in aviation history and innovations at this exhibition space, three miles south of the mainland’s Mukilteo ferry dock. Boeing Future of Flight includes a drone gallery and a mock-up of the lab that helped prepare the United States’ payloads for the International Space Station. The Sky Deck offers views of Paine Field Airport, an aviation factory that’s the world’s largest building by volume, and the snow-capped North Cascade Mountains.

Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve

Trace the area’s cultural and agricultural traditions in three stunning state parks located within Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve: Fort Casey, Fort Ebey, and Ebey’s Landing. Highlights from Fort Casey include the 1903 Admiralty Head Lighthouse, a point in the “Triangle of Fire” harbor defenses to ward off potential attacks during World War II. The 5.6-mile Ebey’s Landing hike is another standout. You’ll cross prairielands and old farming fields before emerging onto the coastal bluffs with their jaw-dropping views of the Cascades and Olympic Mountains.

Price Sculpture Forest

A more-than-a-century-old forest harbors an art space that opened in fall 2020 near downtown Coupeville. This free attraction encourages visitors to “wander in wonder” — as its signature cherrywood arch declares — discovering installations such as a steel eagle and a T. rex sculpted from bark. Need another meditative moment marrying art and nature? Try Earth Sanctuary, 20 miles to the south.
