In addition to the breathtaking night sky and its incomprable display of stars, we often have an unobstructed view of sunrises and sunsets. You'll see our Amish neighbors farming their land or heading to town in their buggies. You are also likely to see deer and wild turkeys in the fields. Family Friendly? For the interest of children, there is a neat playhouse, as well as a 3-level tree house to explore. In the spring and summer, the children can also enjoy the baby ducks, baby goats, and baby rabbits.For the toddlers, there is an enclosed play area with a sandbox and swings. Fun Things to Do at Plumfield Stable Canoe on the Kickapoo River. Bike on the Sparta/Elroy bike trail or on the La Crosse River Bike Trail. Both are within 15 miles. Hike and Horseback Ride on trails in the beautiful Wildcat Mountain State Park. For the fishing enthusiasts, there are several rivers and streams within 20 miles. Golf on any of the three, public courses within 15 miles of our stable. Shop the large, Amish community nearby. There are bakeries and candy shops to explore and quilts, crafts, and other Amish goods for sale. Tours are available. Boat or take a cruise on the Mighty Mississippi River!

Maple Ridge Guest Apartment

This apartment was added to the back of our detached garage about 5 years ago. Low or no VOC products were used throughout construction. Brand new appliances installed with an oven big enough to cook the biggest turkey I’ve ever dreamed of. Spectacular ridge top views and beautiful starry nights. Hiking and cross country ski trails on the property of about 75 acres. Pick hazelnuts in the fall, collect and boil your own maple sap in the spring and pick blueberries in the summer.

Olde Wisconsin Hearth Cabin

Our Cabin is located in the Heart of Amish Country on 44 Acres. (maps for Amish tours located in the cupboard) We have Wild Cat Mountain State Park, 5 miles away for horseback riding, hiking trails, and a scenic overlook. As well as the Kickapoo Wild Life Reserve in Lafarge. There is Canoe, Kayak and tubing rentals at the Kickapoo River 3 miles away. Elroy-Sparta Bike trail is about 15 miles away. We are located off of Highway 33 between Cashton and Ontario WI.

This cabin getaway just outside of La Crosse was exactly what I was looking for—secluded, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful woods. The setting felt like something out of a storybook, with nature trails, birdsong, and total quiet at night. It was the perfect escape from the busyness of everyday life. The cabin itself was clean, cozy, and well-equipped, with thoughtful touches throughout. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat in nature!

Cozy Log Cabin

Enjoyed our stay. We visited quite a few Amish businesses and their produce auction. The beds were comfortable and the birds were amazing. Loved sitting on the porch in the morning listening to the birds. Also had a doe and fawn come walking right by. We had almost perfect weather so were able to have the windows open. Nice hot shower and plenty of space. I preferred the outhouse over the incinerator toilet but that was just my preference. We did have rain one morning and couldn't cook outside. A hot plate or electric griddle would be a great addition. Other than that the stay was great. We would definitely stay again. Check in was easy and a nice note with local suggestions was so nice. We did travel to Fennimore and I would recommend the train museum if you are looking for things to do.

It is one of the loveliest Air BnB places I have stayed in. Barb is a great host and very helpful and friendly. The cabin was beautifully decorated and the grounds are so beautiful and well tended. Absolutely Lovely. The only issue we had was with phone service (no Verizon coverage) and no WiFi available. Recommend downloading your maps and Barb’s directions before you get to Ontario. None of this was the host’s fault and does not detract from the overall beauty and charm of the place. We loved it. Will be back!

Little Yellow House

I had a great stay at the Little Yellow House. Communication was great and check in was easy. The house was very clean and comfortable. I slept great in the bed and the big couch was great for lounging. I did spend a great deal of time on the porch. The neighborhood is very walkable - I took several long walks around the town. The location of the house is great for chasing trout streams and places to hike. I even picked up a couple of books at the giant bookstore a block away. Thanks, Amy!
