The Papaya Home is lovely! The grounds are beautiful, staff is warm, hospitable, and super friendly. Florence and Jennifer are wonderful cooks! Our best meals in Kampala were at the Papaya Home. We would definitely stay here again.

Papaya Holiday Home Award winning B and B

PedroRating, 5 stars120 months ago
I stayed at Papaya Home for a weekend. Florence is an extraordinary host, always helpful and kind, having provided very useful tips and contacts. Florence's is at a safe and calm neighborhood (except for a mosque nearby and its inopportune call to prayer at 5.30 in the morning). Rooms are spacious and comfortable, private bathrooms are clean, as well as the common spaces. Florence cooks terrifically. There is a pleasant balcony on the first floor and a porch for sitting and relax. Certainly not a 5 star hotel, but much better than most hostels and guest houses in Europe. Cozy and familiar environment. Fantastic value for money. Highly recommend when visiting Kampala

Quiet Twin room

Staying with Alison and David was a delight from beginning to end. We were very well taken care of in every way, from the wonderful fruit salads for breakfast to lovely evenings on the terrace with a stunning view of the sun setting over Victoria Lake. As birders we were also thrilled by the wealth of birds in their garden, or easily seen from it, getting some seventy species during our stay - a perfect introduction for us to African birds before going on a round-trip. David also arranged a great trip to Mabamba swamp for us, dropping us off and picking us up from the boat taking us to the swamp, where we then switched to a smaller canoe for navigating the swamp. Overall, Alison and David are the friendliest people imaginable, always going the extra mile for their guests. We couldn't recommend them more - this is the perfect place to stay in Entebbe, excellent value for money.

We are very grateful for the hospitality of Bernard, Regina, Alex, Allan and the family. We felt very welcome. We enjoyed the delicious food and it was nice to chat with everyone in the living room. Bernard took us to show us the tea fields and Alex helped us plan the Sabyinyo hike. Highly recommend staying here!

ELITE BACKPACKERS SERVICES MASAKA

Nice place. Excellent staff interaction, friendly and helpful. They went beyond work duty to be helpful, and to provide a good experience for us, as well as give a good name to the Ugandan hospitality. Wonderful breakfast. The cook puts a lot of effort to make the breakfast from scratch, including fresh tortillas for their breakfast rolls. Great value for the money. Great experience, Lea good memories of the local hospitality. Be aware that neither Google nor Apple Map take you to exact location. We had to ask locals to realize that we needed go further down the road before we see the hostel sign. Also, note when booking individual beds for a few people in your group for a rooms shared with others, the total price does not reflect the sum total for the number of people, but only reflect the price for one individual. Make sure to clarify total price with host in order to avoid confusion.

R&R Gardens Hotel

SimonRating, 5 stars18 months ago
We had a lovely stay at Rosemary's, so much so that we ended up coming back twice more! The exterior is painted a delightful shade of pink. Rooms are simple and clean, with hot showers. There's a great view of the Wanale ridge from the back of the hotel. All the staff were lovely and Rosemary herself is an absolute angel. Breakfast was superb and very generous. We thought it was good value and look forward to coming again! It is quite close to a nightclub that sometimes plays quite loud music, so bear that in mind if you want an early night and bring earplugs. In our experience though it wasn't pumping every night and when it was it didn't go on much later than midnight.

Cosy En-Suite room in quiet townhouse

The description in the profile accurately describes the premises. Quiet, green environment and a real rustic experience. I like the fact that the owner made every effort to make the residence as private as possible for guests. I am a lover of all things wood and the place does not disappoint. There is a fully stocked book library to cater for different tastes, you can indulge in board games in your free time (chess, omweso and dominoes). The breakfast was a suprise for me and so generous and tasty that I did not need to have lunch for the 2 days we stayed there. The house keeping is very good, on time and are polite. The extra touch of juice being available is highly appreciated. My wife and I recommend with 5 stars. With a place like this, there is really no need to spend on an expensive hotel in Kampala.
