Each Mateo has a queen size bed, private bath, ac/heat, and a kitchenette with a Keurig coffeemaker, 4.4 cu. ft. refrigerator with freezer, air fryer, microwave, tableware, and glassware for two people. The Mateos are not handicap-accessible. Pets are never allowed – this is a pet-free space ($200 penalty).

The sunsets from the porch are gorgeous. It is not only impressive that this home was built in just the perfect spot to catch an amazing sunset, but also nestled in the middle of Fontana Lake with a great view of the lake. I can’t say enough about this location! I’ve grown up coming to the Carolina’s and never knew about Fontana Lake. This cabin feels incredibly secluded and luxurious, but close enough to all the best adventure spots—Nantahala, Deep Creek, Smoky National Park, Fontana Lake access points, Appalachian Trail—you name it. There is even a great trailhead walking distance from the cabin that has great views of the lake, creeks, and challenging and diverse enough to walk 2-3x. We saw deer and wild turkey almost everyday and the wildflowers were in bloom all over. Additionally, the master bedroom has an amazing view from the bed. When I opened my eyes each morning, I had a view of the smokies that was mesmerizing. We all want to rent this cabin again!

We had the most amazing mountain getaway at this beautiful bothy in Robbinsville, NC. Tucked away on 28 private acres, the setting was incredibly peaceful and surrounded by nature—exactly what we needed to unplug and relax. The cabin itself was spotless, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with huge windows that let in so much natural light and gave us stunning views of the nature around. It was stocked with absolutely everything we could possibly need, from kitchen essentials to cozy touches that made it feel like home. You can tell a lot of care went into making this space special. Our host was outstanding—so friendly, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. You don’t always find that level of hospitality, and we really appreciated it. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape in the mountains, this is the place. We’re already dreaming of coming back!

Amazing view from this house. stepping out onto the veranda you find yourself in a fairy tale. It's impossible to stop once you start taking pictures. The house is very unusual both inside and out. This is definitely one of the most interesting options in the area. I won’t go into details, it’s better to come there and see everything for yourself. It's worth it. Special thanks to the owners for such prompt responses and responsiveness!
