Absolutely amazing. Beautiful view of the beach and surrounding area. We got lucky and saw the northern lights! The place was super cozy. Loved the extra effort the hosts put in to make sure we had everything we needed, which included a dog bed, doggy treats and board games. The Christmas tree and bottle of Prosecco were a much appreciated bonus. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends.

New: Cantick Head Lighthouse Cottage

AnnaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This is a really unique stay and I spent a good part of my time there looking out at sea wondering when I would next be able to come back. So that should tell you how much I liked it! It’s at a lighthouse, so as you would expect, it’s at the end of a long road (which is very bumpy in places!). Then you get to the cosy house, with a wood fire, and well stocked kitchen with welcome treats. Alan is very friendly as are the dogs and the chickens! My child loved feeding them every morning. The fresh farm eggs were such a treat. Cantick Head itself is stunning and we loved being in the hot tub and sauna. Note to other guests- all these are wood powered so stock up on firewood before you arrive (you can buy bags at the shop next to the Lyness ferry). My mum took one of the bikes out and we all enjoyed walking the coastline. This is a special stay, don’t hesitate to book!

Absolutely fantastic location, with fantastic scenery nearby. Had some wonderful walks, literally behind the property. The BBQ area was fantastic like the hot tub. I can’t say much more, but I will be looking to return ASAP Matthew is a fantastic host and nothing seems to be too much of a problem. Loved the place, oh and the Highland cows are awesome.
A spacious wooden deck surrounds the lodge, featuring green seating and potted plants. Scenic views of the coastline and the sea are visible in the background, with grassy areas and distant land visible across the water under a blue sky dotted with clouds.

Sluice Keeper's Cottage

We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage. The place is super cozy, with a lovely fireplace that made evenings feel extra special. The kitchen was fully equipped and really great for cooking, and having a proper dining room added a nice touch — we could actually sit and enjoy our meals together. Everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. We slept well, the beds were comfy, and the whole area was peaceful with just the sound of the river nearby. The hot tub and fresh air were the cherry on top. Huge thanks to the host — very friendly and quick to respond. Would definitely come back!

NC500 Cosy Cottage in the Highlands

NickyRating, 5 stars10 months ago
Had a warm and cosy stay at the cottage, which was lovely and clean, and in a stunning area. Plenty of parking space. Plenty of wood given to last the week. Neighbours friendly. We were worried about the road being so close once we got there, but with the cottage being low in the hillside, the sound of the road traffic went over the roof, so it was nice and peaceful. A really lovely village and highly recommend the tearoom at Elphin for food and drinks. We even got to see the northern lights and lots of shooting stars! A great stay!

Jenny’s house was wonderful. Equipped with everything you could possibly need. Spotlessly clean. Very spacious and comfortable with a very effective heating system. Now to the location, spectacularly beautiful. Gorgeous sunsets and really, really peaceful and serene. Even when it rained, it was still beautiful. Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.

Sunset View Cottage, Highlands

LizzieRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
5* place, don’t miss out if you get the chance to stay here! The cottage was fantastic, a real home from home and immaculately clean. We had everything we needed, full kitchen, comfortable beds and good bedding, and so spacious everywhere. Great to have option of utility room too. But then you see the view! WOW, utterly beautiful and breathtaking….. sitting outside with a glass of wine or a cuppa and just watching the sea /weather… the hills/mountains in the background… we got some great sunsets and the peace and calm of this place was enviable. Sadly no dolphins spotted this time for us! Duncan was a fab host, giving so much info on the house, local area and places to visit further away… I’d definitely suggest a walk/drive to the lighthouse in Portmahomack late afternoon and sit on the rocks for a while.. feels like you’re on the top of the world! We left calm and happy and feeling very well looked after, thank you Duncan and Susan! We’d love to come back!

19th Century Miller's Cottage with stunning views

KatherineRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Balavoulin is the perfect highlands getaway! The mill house is pristine, on a stunning property, and very accessible. We loved staying here. Piers is incredibly responsive, and very helpful as a host! There are tons of recommendations on what to do in the area, and we had such a good time using the house as our home base as we took day trips out to different places in the area. Loch Ness and Inverness, Tarbat Ness, Eilean Donan, Dunnrobin Castle and Gardens, Glenfinnan, etc. etc. Truly a stunningly peaceful and idyllic place to rest and energize in the highlands. We loved it so much we are coming back in September.

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful Highland setting

RebeccaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
How to describe what my husband and I experienced here in 1000 characters or less is impossible. Torfeddy had everything we were looking for! 4 days wasn’t nearly enough. Maggie has the gem of a lifetime here. If you like to escape and explore then this is the place for you. If you’re looking for yourself again, this is the place for you. Everything’s we needed was here. Hiking everyday in order to see real Scotland was just what we wanted in every sense of the word. We even got lucky enough to see the seals. Maggie is the sweetest! The absolute tops! Wendy down at the market was the most helpful and Luz down at the secret tea garden was the kindest! When we come back Maggie, and we will one day. We pray we can find you again and stay a bit longer in your paradise. To say this was the highlight of our trip is a huge understatement! This was the best part. Drumbeg is our favourite village in Scotland hands down! Thank you so much Maggie!

Great place to spend a few days close enough to the main centre but felt more secluded and private. Sheila was a great host not intrusive but always available if needed. Was great to have the little.amenities on arrival bread butter milk coffee etc. Definitely worth booking if looking for somewhere in the Moray area that is private but walkable to the town centre.

Cottage had everything we needed and felt so homely, a great place to return home to. Clashnessie falls was beautiful as where all the beaches nearby. Culag wood was set up great for kids with rope swings on the beach. There are limited places to eat in an evening in Lochinver so would recommend booking a table. Would defo love to visit again.

Traditional two bed Scottish croft

RaghuRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Elizabeth's cottage in Melvich was a beautiful place to stay. Right at the northern sea, the view from the bedrooms is incredible, including actual sheep in the neighbour's yard! The location is really nice and pretty easy to get to from the typical NC500 route, just a couple of minutes detour. The kitchen has all the equipment needed to prepare a quick breakfast and some coffee, and the interior was super cozy. A quick walk down the croft at the back to arrive at the sea feels like a movie, but that's what you get! Elizabeth was super nice and helped point out some restaurants for us, and even showed us some sheep and cows at her farm! The whole stay was a really fantastic experience and an easy recommend from me (and my mum & sister).

We had a family holiday with our daughters, their partners and our very new grand daughter. This was a lovely house with great views. We felt really at home. The open kitchen/ living area suited us really well and we enjoyed cooking as the kitchen was very well equipped. The house was cozy but roomy. Pamela could not have been more helpful. We know the area well. There is lots to do and see. You do need a car as its a few miles to Ullapool.
