Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Shapleigh

Every year we pick a place on the lake between Mother's and Father's day to celebrate over a weekend. We love to kayak and visit the local eateries while relaxing in nature. This year we were fortunate enough to find Katherine's home in Acton, ME for Memorial Day weekend. The house was spacious, comfortable, clean, and homey (and right on the lake)! Katherine and Nick were both very responsive and friendly with check-in check-out and we loved the places listed on their travel guide. The house is a short hour drive from Kennebunkport and Portland so we took some day trips during the rainy days and floated around the peaceful inlet of Mousam Lake when sunny. Leaving the inlet takes you to the rest of Mousam Lake where we saw motor boats, jet skis and one person wake boarding! Our old dog, Shaggy, had a blast and the long road leading to the property gave him the ability to run around without bothering any neighbors, who were all very friendly! Definitely worth a return visit!

Our stay at Mousam Lake was simply wonderful. The house is rustic and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. I love that there are ice cube trays in the freezer. It’s a little touch that just makes life easier. We were 5 adults with 4 dogs and everyone had enough room. Sitting on the deck felt like being in a treehouse and bringing the Adirondack chairs down to the dock was a pleasure on warmer days. A short drive to Hannaford allowed us to stock up and enjoy family meals and game nights in the cozy living room. Lea responded quickly to any question we had. This was a wonderful, relaxing vacation at the lake.

We had a great extended long weekend stay at Karen’s!! The place was warm & inviting- perfect for a colder than anticipated Memorial Day Weekend — we took advantage of the pellet stove and were still able to take in awesome lake views from the comfort of the living room. Our young girls had a blast “swimming” in the large jacuzzi bath tub and playing/ sleeping on the bunk beds in one of the bedrooms. We did manage to get out on our boat which was easy to dock at the slip associated with the rental. No fish caught this time around but still fun trying. The location of Karen’s place is awesome- very close/ walking distance to tasty restaurants & public boat launch. We cooked most of our own meals & were grateful for the well stocked kitchen as well as having a grocery store less than 5 min away. Karen was a fantastic host with quick response times from time of booking & then following checkout ensuring that our stay was as seamless as possible. We hope to return in the future! 😊

What a great place to relax! There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms so everyone has their own space. and there are roku tvs in EVERY bedroom. What a plus! There is a large kitchen table and a bar with chairs in the kitchen....plenty of seating. The living room is so comfortable with nice leather furniture and plenty of ways to kick your up after a long day! The master bedroom is very large with a couch and chairs and extra large walk in closet! All of the windows allow guests to see the beautiful lake and surroundings. plus there's plenty of parking, a dock, AND an outside area to grill and enjoy the fresh air...Day or night. And to top it all off, the host is the greatest...Quick to respond and just does a wonderful job making the stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible...I look forward to visiting again!

Darryl was an outstanding host - I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at an AirBnb with a more responsive host. Darryl was extremely quick to respond and took care to be thoughtful and detailed in his responses. The home was just as described and had the most wonderful access to Locke Lake. It was incredibly peaceful and the large fire pit was the nicest touch for evenings. Both baby and dogs had a blast!

It has been a wonderful experience getting to meet and work with this couple! Very understanding and accommodating and beautiful home and location I highly recommend!

The listing, the communication, the home, the location…all exceptional. Haven’t had a nicer place than this in a while. It was quiet and very comfortable. Minutes from great food, shopping, and things to love in the North Conway area. Very much recommended

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche. Das Haus ist toll. Die offenen gemütlich eingerichteten Wohnräume auf zwei Etagen und kleine separate Schlafräume bieten genügend Platz und Rückzugsmöglichkeiten für mehrere Erwachsene. Das haben wir genossen. Und aus allen Räumen Seeblick! Wegen der kühlen und feuchten Witterung während unseres Aufenthalts konnten wir Garten und See leider kaum nutzen - wäre sonst sicherlich ein Highlight gewesen. Unbedingt weiter zu empfehlen!

My family and I had an amazing weekend. Melissa was very responsive and flexible with checking in/out. Everything was clean, plenty of linens and towels, great location, comfy beds. 10/10. We can’t wait to be back!

Great house! Very spacious, plenty of bathrooms, and fantastic location. Very easy to communicate with the owners and check in/out was simple. My minor only critique is that we wish the grill were a bit bigger and nicer. We wanted to grill one day, but we were a little disappointed and unable to do so due to the grill quality. Would definitely stay again!

The building was a little dated. The room was clean and neat. Hot water in the bathroom sink could use improvement. Again, the property is older.

Heidi’s place was very warm and welcoming. She is quick to respond with my questions. The cabin was clean and fully stocked. Would stay there again when visiting Maine

This home was perfect for our family stay for a local wedding. It was a quiet relaxing place on the water! We enjoyed kayaking and sitting on the swing enjoying the view. The home included everything we needed and was very clean, spacious and comfortable. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking in this area!

We had an absolutely wonderful time here. So many animals for our toddler to interact with. Very quiet area with lots of nature both on the property and nearby.

We loved the lakeside retreat! Everything we needed as road vagabonds during our house renovation. We would have loved staying longer for some full days on the lake or lakeside, or will for a longer, real vacation. Perfect size room for a couple and their dog. Very comfortable recliner chairs and good lighting. Air conditioner was needed and worked quickly after we arrived. Bed was so comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud! Everything we needed.

We all had a great time despite the fact it rained almost the entire time. The house was comfortable and we found plenty of activities to do. House had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a place in this area, you can’t go wrong with this house. We’re looking forward to staying there again when we can. Thank you Melissa!

If you’re looking for a tranquil and relaxed getaway on the water, look no further. We extended our trip because it was so beyond perfect. There were kayaks available to enjoy a soothing ride on the lake and enjoy the views. Our four legged friend enjoyed jumping onto the small beach area and running around the yard getting his exercise.

The cabin was the best AirBnb we've stayed in. Meticulously crafted space; flexible without feeling too big. The deck space continues the experience outside with fantastic views to the west. All the details have been curated here, with an intuitive kitchen space, comfortable and relaxed living room and ample bed/bath suites that made staying here so enjoyable. We would love to return to this cabin in the future! Highly recommend!

Walking into Andi‘s fishing cabin felt like going to grandma‘s house! It was so cozy and nice for our quick three day weekend in Maine. Everything that has been written in previous reviews is true. Including the extensive VHS collection lol! The view is beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, and we were so happy to sleep in the sunroom and wake up to the view of the lake Pond water in front of us. Easily accessible from the main road, close to restaurants, gas stations, and other amenities, including the Hannaford grocery. My fellow found himself on the dock fishing multiple times during our stay he caught a few trout. My favorite part is the fire pit area with the café lights. I love staying in the woods and this cabin fit our needs perfectly. Andi was a responsive host and we are grateful for his communication. Very positive and friendly! Hope to stay with you again next year!
