“Yves himself works completely in the background. The front woman is Andreia !! She speaks perfect English, which is rare on the island. She organizes everything that is necessary. Money, food, car, trips, .... If there are problems on the island, she can be reached at any time by phone, interprets by phone, etc. The houses are built and furnished very individually. It's all made of wood. Lamps, sinks, every coat hook, ..... We had a house where the shower was outside. Great! Showers with a view of the sea !! There is a small private beach with snorkeling opportunities.”

“Even though it is "AirBnB", it is almost a resort with some bungalows and amenities such as breakfast / lunch / dinner - the decision can be made relatively quickly, when and if you want to use it. We had each ordered only the dinner and can write about: very large portions, very delicious and with attention to detail prepared and served. On infrastructure: The power outages of the island are part of life there. There is a generator that runs for the most important times (environmentally sensible) and provides fluent water and electricity. In TATU House we had no problems / restrictions. Internet was running quite well (power failures -> restart the router). The gaps in missing guide books were completely closed by Andreia: Each request was answered in detail - in advance by e-mail and also on site. That was a really great service! There is an airport transfer, but it's really worth it to take a rental car: We booked a "Suzuki Jimny" via Yves and were picked up at the airport by name badge and escorted to the TATU House - a real help for the first day in the dark! On the ground (in Santana) there is very little. Tip 1: In Santana is the last gas station before Porto Alegre !!! After that, there is only gasoline in bottles. Tip 2: On arrival we had 2 large bottles of water in the fridge. The best way when arriving on the way to the TATU House stop at the supermarket (Super CKdo) insert - if you need more. For us and our needs, the 5 nights at the TATU House were just right! We were helped if we had questions. By the car we were independent. The location of Santana was perfect for us to explore the entire island (day trips) or to be quick in the capital (about 30min) for shopping.”

“We had an excellent one week at Casa Ondas Divinas. Great welcome with airport pickup and local passion fruit caipirinhas on arrival (delicious). It was also appreciated that we were able to order food to be brought to us after arrival as it was late and we had no time to eat out or cook. Generally the food was of a mixed standard - some meals were fantastic (we particularly enjoyed the chicken curry, octopus salad and fried cuttlefish) but others were less to our tastes. Also, as the food was prepared elsewhere and all 3 courses brought to the house at once, it was often cold. Overall though, it was a good price (12€ lunch/dinner, 8€ breakfast) and was very convenient to be able to order a meal at relatively short notice. The apartment itself was stylish and modern, with a great balcony with a picturesque view of the waves crashing below you. We felt there could have been more comfortable seating out on the balcony. As expected on a tropical island, there was a bit of an ant/fly problem - however the reception provided a can of insecticidal bug spray. The apartment was cleaned daily with fresh towels and sheets provided so it was always spotless. Andreia and her team spoke good English and were very helpful during our stay. Through them we were able to hire a car one day and go on an organised boat trip on another day. One of our friends was unwell during our stay and they were very kind and helpful, helping to organise transport to a nearby medical centre. Local tips were given when asked and helped us to plan our week in Sao Tome with suggestions for places we wouldn’t have otherwise found. Getting around the island is very straightforward - shared taxis go through Santana to the capital and cost less than 1€ each. It is also possible to hire a car for 24 hours for a reasonable price of 45€ and there are many taxis/motorbikes available too. There is a quiet, private sandy beach, although the waves were quite strong so it wasn’t the best place for swimming. However, there are plenty of beaches nearby, including at Club Santana (20min walk, free use of pool/beach/jacuzzi if you bought something at the bar).”
