“What a wonderful Little home away from home. It’s not in the centre of the action. But....if you need a place to unwind, be close to nature, away from noise and love to cook and just hang out it makes a perfect little base from which to explore Oaxaca or chill out in the middle of a longer adventure. Claude and Odile are super super kind and welcoming and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to any person or duo who need a respite from the fumes and noise of Oaxaca and who crave a little bit of home wherever they travel”
Nice country house with large garden full of interesting insects. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, terrace, internet. Maid quarters with separate bathroom. Very nice and quiet to enjoy the solitude and nature.
“It is a wonderful place, if what you are looking for is a contact with nature and away from the city, the cabin is beautiful, the person in charge of receiving you is very kind, I would return to it, it was beautiful.”

“Wow, what a special place. The house, the art, the pottery, the mountains, the trees and birds--all so magical. We came to Ximena's for five nights after 10 days of touring Mexico City and Oaxaca. We were ready for some quiet time in nature. While we weren't prepared for the vocal prowess of the many local dogs (the barking was especially annoying the day we arrived), we soon realized that the dogs were noisiest at sundown and sunrise and in response to activity in the area. And that there were also times of peace, of the soft sounds of birds and crickets, of a neighbour playing piano, of the breeze in the trees. For us, the magic of the place, and the quiet moments, won out over the dogs. We had planned to rent a car, as was recommended, but there was a problem with our reservation, so we hired Sebastian, the concierge for Casa Labra, to drive us around. He picked us up in Oaxaca and took us shopping for groceries on the way on the day we checked in. We later hired him for a full day to take us to Hierve el Agua with stops for lunch, to a mescal distillery and Teotitlan del Valle, and then the following day to the market in Valle de Etla, and on our last day, to take us to the airport. We did the math, and all this worked out to less than it would have cost us to rent a car for our time at Casa Labra, with the added bonus that Sebastian did all the driving, saving us the stress. He was also great company; his English is excellent and he acted as our guide, answering our many questions about Mexico. The time we spent with him added immensely to our overall enjoyment of our stay in San Pablo Etla.”
