Here you will experience unique moments of relaxation and complete tranquillity in an authentically traditional area, without missing any of the comforts of the modern way of living, which we have quietly incorporated in all our dwellings. Our settlement is built on a hill slope and it has such an orientation that it offers an impressive mountain, valley and sea view from all houses. During night hours, thousands of stars will magnetize your eyes. And at day musical sounds, vivid colours and perfums, captivating scents, pure flavours and the close touch with nature will awaken all your senses and their remembrance will remain unforgettable. There are many communal areas, all free accessible from our guest. There is a barbecue area with a wooden oven and a big dinning area under a pergola. A small but fully equipment fitness room, a steam bath, mountain bikes, a 40m² eco swimming pool - heated when required, cd, dvd and book library, and a traditional style, on honor system working and only with local products, mini market - cafe. I'm spending few hours per day at the property, so you are always welcome to ask me any kind of information you maybe need. I am also available 24h a day on my mobile phone for anything you maybe need. Samonas is a peaceful village which has preserved its authentic character due to being very small and quiet with few inhabitants. There are a number of places to explore, and the beach is nearby. We recommended to rent a car and here are directions how to get to Samonas. a) From Chania airport follow the route: Airport - Souda - Megala Horafia - Styos - Samonas. More specific: 7km from the airport you turn left to Souda. Then enter the high way with direction to Rethymnon. A few kilometers after, follow the exit to Megala Horafia and go straight ahead to the village of Stylos. At the end of Stylos village, the road is separated. You have to follow the right acclivitous one. After 5km you will reach Samonas village. Our traditional houses are on your left hand, after the first couple of residences. b) From Heraklion airport follow the route: Airport - Rethymnon - Kalyves - Stylos - Samonas. More specific: From Heraklion - Rethymnon head to Chania. From the high way follow the exit to Kalyves and then left to the villages of Armenoi - Neo Horio - Stylos. At the entrance of Stylos, turn left and follow the narrow acclivitous road to Samonas (5km). Our traditional houses are on your left hand, after the first couple of residences. Although everybody is welcome, in order to ensure a safe, relaxing and quiet environment to all, we do not recommend our complex to children under 12y.o. Smoking is not allowed into the villas. Pet friendly environment.

Karavos View - A unique artists' hideaway Paradise

A short walk from downtown Kalyves, but far removed from the hustle and bustle of the town of Kalyves. Several good places to eat, with some services such as medical and a pharmacy, a couple small markets with enough provisions. The location had absolutely amazing views of the bay of Souda, very private and quiet. The property is secured by an electric gate, to keep wandering tourists away, in that this accommodation appears historical in nature, maybe all that’s left of an old kastelli, based on the rock walls. I could be wrong, but I would guess that the actual accommodation is what used to be the powder magazine for the old fort. We enjoyed the place immensely.

A magical villa and environment! Such a wonderful host too, who made a lovely meal for our arrival even though it was after midnight! Quality in the whole villa and the pool area with breathtaking views! Four beautiful bedrooms with luxury en-suites meant no guest felt deprived. We feel restored and rejuvenated! Giannis was a truly gracious and welcoming host. The welcome video was really helpful in lieu of meeting him in person. We felt right at home immediately. The house is as pictured, and the view of the White Mountains as glorious as hoped - truly incredible, in any weather. We were very comfortable throughout our 8-day stay, and Giannis was extremely responsive at all times. The insect screens on every single window were great as were the shutters, and we appreciated the air-con/heating in both living and bedroom. It’s a very private house, with a huge terrace, large living space and a walk to a local restaurant. For anything more a car is required, but that’s assumed given the isolation of the place. Wonderful property - we’d happily choose this house if on this side of Crete again.

We had a wonderful stay at Chrysi’s house. It’s one house within a complex of three, sharing the outdoor space and small pool (located in the front with the other two units). The views over the bay are stunning. The surroundings are beautiful. Ancient Aptera is within walking distance, as is the small village with a shop and some taverns. Chrysi was a very welcoming host, gave lots of useful recommendations, and we even got fresh towels mid week. Overall a very pleasant experience.
