The Minster, The Yorvik Viking Centre, The Shambles, York City Art Gallery and Museum - just a few of the reasons a visit to York is a must. There's a wonderful restaurant scene with The Star Inn the City, Skosh, Le Cochon Aveugle, and Tommy Banks' Roots - these are all top choices. The easiest way to visit York from here is via the train from Pannal station, only 4 miles away, where you can park for free and enjoy a relaxing journey to the centre of York in an hour. Adjacent to the station is the Railway Museum which houses the Mallard, the fastest steam locomotive in the world, and the original Stphenson's Rocket, alongside a world class collection of steam trains and interiors from days gone by. www.visityork.org

Harewood House grounds, landscaped by Capability Brown: under 10 minutes away, this popular circular walk of approximately 1.5 hours through the park offers beautiful views of Harewood House, the surrounding countryside and very often the deer who live there. You’ll see magnificent Red Kites as this was one of the places of reintroduction in 1999. You can park near the Muddy Boots café with an honesty box fee, and there is no fee to enter the park. Harewood House www.harewood.org is open for visitors, and hosts outdoor concerts and Luna Cinema events. Harewood holistics within the estate, is a new venue for yoga and retreats, allied to Yoga Kula which I can highly recommend.
