Super casual restaurant with craft beer and wine with a wooden train cart for the kiddos to play on. Super popular place for parents who want to still have a life and have their kids be occupied. I love this place for this very reason. Try the tots! Best thing on the menu by far.

This place is really a gem in the heart of Balboa Park. It has a simple menu with a view of the sculpture garden at the Museum of Art. Try to go when there is Latin Jazz live music. It's one of the few place in San Diego that still has live music.

This has one of the best ramen selections in town and the vibe is so cool. You sit outside under this modern structure so it’s covered but you’re in the elements. Dress accordingly.

This is at the corner of all the North Park action. It’s about 2 miles from the house and a rather nice walk through South Park and into North Park if you fancy getting your steps in. You won’t be disappointed with the food or vibe.

This music venue has become very popular for concerts in the last 5 years. Some really popular artists are performing here, which is great for what was once called "Sleepy San Diego." West Coast Tavern is the bar attached to the concert venue and it's fantastic for pre-funk drinks or "hair of the dog" brunch.
