Walking either along the river and back to the millennium bridge and also a walk around the medieval walls is recommended for orientation. The main attractions are:- Cliffords' Tower, The Castle museum, Yorvik Viking centre, the National Railway museum, Yorkshire museum, the Art Gallery and many more

The Dawney Arms a gastro pub sits by the river and bookings are essential. The Blacksmiths Arms across the road has good home cooking and a good atmosphere. For a treat the village farm shop and café is good for a break on a walk or Linton Lock house with food by Wendy.
