  • Beautiful and secluded. I've been staying in cabins in NW PA for many years, and this is easily the nicest one I've rented

    Justin2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was spacious, comfortable and offered everything we needed. We spent most of the time outdoors and really enjoyed the outside fire pit, the privacy and our dog enjoyed the creek next to the cabin. This is a great spot to launch your Allegheny National Forest adventure, close to fishing, hiking trails and points of interest.

This incredibly charming getaway is just minutes from Tionesta Lake, Tionesta Creek, the Allegheny River, the Allegheny National Forest, and only 20 minutes to Cook Forest. Two acres of beautiful grounds with seasonal gardens, private trails in the woods, fire ring, and the world's greatest front porch and patio running the length of the house. Truly a special place with a relaxed pace!

All appliances are full-sized appliances. All new dishes and pots and pans. Very large mudroom addition with laundry including full-sized washer and dryer. Shady Pines Cottage is just off of Route 36 in Tionesta Township. The minute you make the turn from Route 36, you immediately enter an old country lane with stone and gravel. The lane is a beautiful cul-de-sac with trees of every kind, and only a dozen properties or so that are spaced far apart from one another. Shady Pines Cottage is one of only a few properties available year round. The cottage is quiet and private. Folks never bother you. Sometimes they wave hello from the lane but don't always see you because the porch sits so far back from the lane. Chances are you will enjoy the amazing front porch more than you realize. Deer, turkey, and a fox all come through the front of the property on a regular basis. There are numerous turkey early every morning. Enjoy a quiet cup of coffee on the porch swing while watching squirrels and chipmunks run back and forth between the trees. There are incredibly beautiful birds of all species throughout the trees on the property, and the large pine trees surround you in the front, so the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks all come pretty close to the porch. There's nothing quite like watching the sun come up in the morning through our trees and beautiful flower gardens out front. Although the front of the property is very large and sits back a nice distance from the lane, the side and backyards are enormous. Behind the backyard are woods with a private pathway and walking trail. A very generous and well-proportioned 2 acres! Whenever family and friends come to visit, they enjoy the property so much that no one ever wants to leave to visit other places in the area. The property is truly beautiful year round in every season.
  • Perfect for family and friends also the perfect getaway from society. Beautiful place and relaxing environment.

    Marvin2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy, and the decor is truly one of a kind! The view is beautiful in the morning after a night of snow. So serene. They had anything we needed and then some! Thank you so much again!

    Amanda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This home is so comfortable and cosy. It has everything you could need. We felt so relaxed, and went on some beautiful hikes in the forest. I’m hoping we can visit again for a beautiful get-away and retreat.

    Lily2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect! Immediately upon opening the door there was wine and chocolates there to welcome us to Ted’s home. It was sparkling clean and they provide everything you need including pots and pans , towels, bed linens, dishes, and silverware. This was my first time booking through Airbnb and this certainly set the bar high for any future bookings. Likely will return to this little slice of paradise.

    Olivia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage! Kept us nice and warm in the middle of winter.

    Mairead2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is everything we hoped for and more. It truly feels like a home away from home. My girlfriend and I decided just a few days before Christmas to spend the holiday here. It was decorated to perfection, and Ted even left us a christmas card, wine, and some sweets. Perfect for me, as I love wine and sweets. The home comes with a fully equipped kitchen. I mean FULLY. It has EVERYTHING. We prepared christmas and christmas eve feasts, it was amazing. The homey touches and decorations really make this place. The board games, the books, the dvds. We took full advantage of all of these leisure activities. We wanted to get away and clear our heads and relax... and I can honestly say... I never had such a great time doing nothing!

  • If you and your spouse are looking for a immaculate turn key cabin in the woods for a night or two— this is it. If you and the kids are looking for a base of operations while they enjoy the outdoors during the day and have a comfy, homey, and warm retreat in the woods to fall into a well deserved slumber—this is it. It is immediately apparent Miss Mel and company take pride in their getaway location. Next time may snow machine over or take cross country skis with us to enjoy the woods. Miss Mel was prompt and professional in her communication and quite timely and accurate in her recommendations. As long as folks continue to take of the property as if it was their home and leave it as the found it—Miss Mel’s will remain on our list of great secret Getaway spots! Best! Your neighbors from Corry

  • Nicer than advertised! Had a great stay, would love to return.

    Brandon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful location and cabin! We stayed in Feb so it was a little chilly but very cozy...exactly what we were looking for. It is rustic but very clean and has everything you need for fun and relaxation. Just enough modern convenience to be really comfortable but still be "unplugged". Can't wait to see it in the summer and fall.

    P. J.2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We used this cabin for a quick weekend winter getaway and it couldn’t have been better. We especially enjoyed exploring through the snowy trees on the trails beside the cabin. The outside of the cabin was beautiful in the snow and the fireplace inside was the perfect cozy way to watch the snow come down. It was also fun to watch the deer meander through the yard. Mel provides everything you need and makes check-in and communicating easy.

    Alyssa2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the cabin, beautiful in the winter. Check in was very easy and Mel was very quick to respond to any questions.

    Ezra2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Place is absolutely beautiful. This is the place to go for rest and relaxation.

    Yassiris2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to relax and unwind! Mel is very helpful with the directions, as Google Maps sends you to the wrong place. There is no WIFI or service, as the listing says, so be ready to become one with nature! Definitely recommend AWD for the winter, the road was coated in snow and ice leading up to the lodge. Thanks, White Pine Lodge for an awesome and relaxing trip!

  • This was our second time staying at this camp. We love it here!! The host (Shari) is amazing! The amenities are awesome, its in a great location and there is so much to do in the area for entertainment. We will continue to book with Shari when we travel to PA!

    Jessica2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were so glad we booked here versus a hotel! So much more private space and outdoor space for kids to explore. With a napping toddler, it was nice she could have her own space while bigger kids were able to play to. We will definitely be back in the future!

    Jessica2019-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice camp, bigger than i expected. Nice firepit, grill for steaks, mud room, perfect place for the money.

  • Awesome place with very welcoming hosts. Carla and Craig were great communicators, were flexible when it came to check-in, and Craig gave us a great rundown of the space when we arrived. We loved Hogback Lodge. It was clean, well supplied and in a fantastic location. The wooded seclusion was exactly what we needed for our getaway from the city. It was very comfortable for us as a couple but I imagine it would be an excellent spot for families as well. Plenty of beds and space indoors and out. Thanks again Carla & Craig! We hope to visit Hogback Lodge again.

    Claire2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ken's cabin in the woods had everything we needed to unplug. Adorned with thoughtful touches like enough split wood to keep the fireplace burning on our entire trip, k cups for a warm beverage after a long day on the trails, and a smart TV to catch up on our shows. We loved how secluded it was and it had everything we needed for a simple getaway. His place was sparkling clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. We would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable stay near Cook Forest.

The bed was very comfortable and we spent most of our time by the fireplace. The cottage is private and wooded, yet close to the main road. We were very thankful that they had k-cups waiting for us as we forgot our own. We hope that come back for another stay sometime soon. We highly recommend Cozy Oaks!

  • It's our second time staying at the cabin in Allegheny National Forest. We love that it's completely isolated, nobody else around at all, yet only a short drive from Marienville if we need anything. The North Country Trail runs along the back of the property and is great for any length of hike you feel up to. Perfect for a fall weekend away from town.

  • If you want some space back in the woods this is the place. It's friendly, quiet and extremely clean. Amanda made the directions very clear and we found the place easy, even coming in at night. We hit the trails during the day and cooked a big dinner and made smores in the firepit outside. Lovely place. Highly recommend to anyone.

  • The cutest place to stay for a relaxing getaway, complete with a cozy fireplace. Close drive to the Allegheny National Forrest for hiking (RimRock trail is my favorite!) Brian was an exceptional host with staying in communication and making sure all of our needs were met! We will be back to visit in the summer/fall seasons for sure.

  • We loved staying here! The place is adorable. We loved the indoor fireplace and appreciate the ample amount of firewood provided! Only wish it was warmer so we could have used the outdoor one as well. Great for those with pups- ours loved running around the property. Great place for a weekend away.

Our cabin is located near the small settlement of Neilltown (actually a crossroads with 6 homes and a church) 9 miles from Tionesta & Titusville and within the western part of the PA Wilds, adjacent to the Allegheny National Forest.
Forest County is PA’s least populated county where camps outnumber residences. The cabin, Procrastination Station, can sleep 6 to 8 people. It has 2 bedrooms; a queen size bed in one, a queen size bunk bed in the other, a full bath with shower, and a fully equipped kitchen. The living room has a sofa with a double pull out bed. It has a flat screen TV with DVD player and a DVD Library for young and old alike, games and books. There is a modern wood stove, propane heater, and outside features are a rear deck, a graveled 16ft x 24ft picnic pavilion with picnic table, lawn chairs, gas grille, fire ring and dry firewood. All you have to do is bring your own food or choose restaurants in nearby Pleasantville and Titusville. We have 600 private acres for hiking, biking and enjoying the bear, deer, turkey’s, bobcats, small wildlife, birds, trout and bass fishing at its finest. Hunting can be arranged in season. In nearby Tionesta, Eagles nest along the Allegheny River and soar over the Wilds. You will be close to Cooks Forest State Park with its virgin timber, Tionesta Dam for swimming and boating, tubing, kayaking and canoeing on the Allegheny River, Drakes Well in Titusville - the Birth Place of the Oil Industry, Cornplanter and Oil Creek State Parks, Kinzua Dam & Recreation Area and several huge State Game Lands. We are also adjacent to the Great Lakes Region. Within a 1 ½ hour trip you can be to Lake Erie, Presque Isle, Waldameer Amusement Park, Presque Isle Downs Casino and Racetrack, Wine Country Tours, ski resorts, and more.
Our area of our cabin is very quiet and private. Everyone enjoys their privacy. The Pavilion in the back is very enjoyable.
  • Cabin was very clean with all of the amenities you would need. Very nice porch.

    David2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • It is at a beautiful and peaceful location. We saw so many deer! Jill has so many amenities it’s like being at home! The wrap around porch is great. So many things to see. The pavilion is perfect. We really enjoyed sitting around the fire in the evening. It was so relaxing. I would love to go back again if my travels take me that way again. Highly recommend this place!

    Mary2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautiful. The bunk beds thrilled the kids and I loved the porch. There are a lot of charming touches (the fire pit and the rocking chairs) but the cabin is also very comfortable. Easily found in a nice, natural location. We had a great stay.

  • The Procrastination Station Cabin was a perfect getaway for a four generation family!! Unfortunately , the weather wasn't on our side, but we still enjoyed the spacious deck, pavilion and grill. We even managed to sit around the fire between rain drops!! The only thing we had to bring was food and toiletries!

  • Procrastination station is a relaxing place to get away. We didn't get in until late our first night. Patty's directions were spot on and the home was easy to find. Patty had left a nice note with some info and had left some snacks out for us. Very thoughtful and much appreciated! The location was great! Just 8-10 miles from canoe outfitters on the scenic Allegheny river. Almost all of our time at the house was spent on the great wrap around deck. We really loved the glider chairs! We are already planning another trip to the river and this place is at the top of our list of places to stay at.

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.

  • The Knotty Pines cabin was a great place to spend the weekend with our group of family and friends! Comfortable, plenty of space, the kitchen was clean and well-stocked with dishes, cookware, and new appliances. Highlights included hiking in nearby Cook Forest, hanging out on the spacious deck, playing badminton (we brought the set) in the large backyard, hearing and seeing lots of wildlife, and sitting by the camp fire and star gazing at night. Overall a wonderful experience. One tip for future guests: the water was a little metallic-tasting, so just bring bottled water and you'll be all set!

    Kathryn2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was spacious and met our needs. Nice deck, large yard, fire pit. About 5 minute drive to Clarion river, gas station, nearest quick shop and kayak and canoe rental. Children’s fishing pond for kids up to age 12 was about 7 minute drive. Some kids caught trout in that pond. We caught small-mouth bass and trout in the river.

    Svetlana2019-08-06T00:00:00Z

  • The space is a lovely two story log house- warm and welcoming and full of charm. The kitchen is really well stocked for cooking, which our group appreciated. Tables all around for playing games, outdoors is great for walks in the woods, and plenty of different spaces for groups of people to enjoy- tv area, private balcony, sofa seating by a fire place, and outdoor options as well. Love to stay here again.

All 5 star reviews, superhost status! Small intimate log cabin that lives large in the heart of Cook Forest. Minutes from Clarion , Cooksburg and Leeper. No phone, no TV, no internet, sketchy cell service, Cook Forest as it’s meant to be!
Great things come in small packages. This log cabin is very well appointed. Attention has been paid to every detail. The vaulted ceilings provide a space that feels very open and airy.
Deadwood is moments away from the beautiful CLARION river, designated a national scenic waterway. You are only minutes away from two trailheads, the historic BAKER trail and the NORTH COUNTRY trail. You can easily walk to the river and cross the Gravel Lick bridge over the Clarion River.
  • Cabin looks better than the pictures! Great secluded location.

  • Fantastic, super clean and well-appointed cabin near Cook’s Forest. Best for couples or families with 2-3 children who are old enough to climb ladder to sleep in loft. Easy to cook outside on grill or fire pit or inside on small oven/stove. Upscale small kitchen with very nice dishes, pots, pans, etc. Jean though of everything! Great place for quiet reading, writing, and playing games. Loved being able to disconnect from TV, internet & cell phones (no Verizon signal).

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Mary's place! The place had everything we needed and made our work trip very comfortable and relaxing. It was nice to get to meet the hosts and how they showed interest in why we were there. In fact, all of hosts with AirBB have been great to talk to about our work.. we are biologists and students with Ohio University doing research with the wildlife in Ohio and PA. We are very happy with AirBB on these long trips.. it give us the opportunity to visit new places, meet the locals, and help the wildlife! Thanks Mary!!!

This fully furnished cabin sleeps 8! Lovely rustic cabin to enjoy the peace and total privacy of Cook Forest in Northwestern Pa. 2 bedrooms with one Queen bed, 2 sets of Bunk Beds and a full sleeper sofa. Bath with shower, full kitchen. Remote, but minutes from activities and shops.
This cabin is very secluded and private. Nothing but relaxation and peaceful quite. You will need 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicle to reach this property. Only 1/2 mile to the Clarion River, and 3 miles to Cook Forest.
The Neighborhood is total Forest. No other cabins within site. Very private.
  • Such a wonderful little getaway if you are looking to have some r&r with nothing but nature. The cabin is so very cute, plenty of space for my husband and myself and our 2 dogs. It was very clean with everything you need to cook a home cooked meal. You definitely need a 4x4 or more lifted awd to get up the drive, (the owners do advise this) You are 5-10min away from Cook Forest amenities and attractions and right near the river. Nancy even left a dozen farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator! Highly recommended rental! We are definitely planning to go back!

    Anthony2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. No other houses in view. The driveway is one that you definitely want a 4WD SUV or truck as a car frame will not be able to make it to the lodging. There is WiFi, but do not plan to have super fast access. It was perfect for what we wanted: able to get away somewhere quiet and decompress, but able to check email and do basic web searches. We saw 7 deer within an hour of each other from inside the house the one evening. It is such a wonderful place, we are already making plans to come back in the summer when we can enjoy the sun porch and fire pit.

  • Great place to stay! We had a wonderful weekend!

    Jeanene2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a remote secluded cabin this place is for you! You definitely need at least a small SUV with AWD to get to it, but that only added to the adventure aspect. We were traveling 2 adults, a senior dog and a 5 1/2 month old baby and found the space to be adequate but cozy. The cabin was very clean and it was wonderful that we could go on hikes without having to get in the car. We enjoyed our stay and have discussed going back next year.

  • Wonderful getaway from the hassle of every day life. Cabin was very cosy and very very clear. Especially for being in the woods. No bugs or critters either. We hope to go back.

Guests are also entitled to our Airbnb Experience which includes conferences on the history, theology, and basic instructions for praying the Liturgy of the Hours.
St Thomas More House of Prayer is beautifully situated in a rustic setting far removed from the noise and distractions of the city. The retreat house is constructed mostly of hardwood and is very warm and welcoming. Guest rooms are simple, yet beautiful. Each room has its own bathroom. Completely renovated house converted to look like a vintage gas station on exterior. First floor has open living area, with functional antique wood walk in cooler, 1/2 bath, bar and garage door which opens to deck. Many reclaimed materials used in construction including brick, doors for bar, etc. Upstairs was modeled after boutique hotel with king bed, full bath and picture window overlooking stocked pond and vintage fire truck. Garage portion not included, but could be available.
  • This is a very quiet and relaxing place. It is very original and you will enjoy all the hard work that Bob and his team put into this place. Bob is full of area knowledge and helpful with things to do. He is there if you need him but also respects your privacy. We will definitely be coming back. If your looking for a nice quiet place to get away and learn about the area this is the place to stay.

  • Hotel Clarence is a great option for accommodation in Titusville. We have family in the area and have struggled to find a comfortable place to stay. Hotel Clarence is setup to be a wonderful entertaining space with plenty of outdoor room. The deck overlooks a picturesque pond and includes a grill. We didn't use the downstairs space much this stay, but appreciated the clean and comfortable upstairs area with a king bed and large bathroom. One thing to note is that there isn't a kitchen - there is a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker (in addition to the grill). Bob and Schelly are kind hosts and checked on us a few times.

    Stone Crest Lodge
Stone Crest Lodge is located at the top of a hill in a mature oak forest covered with large sandstone boulders giving the cabin its name.  It is a beautiful setting and has plenty to offer without leaving the property.       The lodge handles a crowd very well.  Lots of open space both inside and out really make this a great spot for a large group, family reunion, holiday gathering, bachelor party, bar mitzvah, you name it.        The front door opens into a large open living room with a vaulted ceiling, gas fireplace and two skylights. On this main level you will find a kitchen, a full bathroom and two fairly large bedrooms. One has two full beds, a chest of drawers, night stand, lamp and a small closet. The other is outfitted with one full bed, one single bed, night stand, and lamp.      The Kitchen sports a gas range, microwave, refrigerator, pots, pans and most of the required kitchen gadgetry.  The basement is finished and has another full kitchen with a gas range, refrigerator, sink and countertops. The rest of the basement is a game room with a fireplace in the center. There are some couches, a coffee table, extra tables and chairs and a foosball table. In the loft are five full beds and a half bath giving the lodge a grand total of 9 beds.        Outback deck runs the whole length of the cabin. There is also a pavilion with a couple of picnic tables, two charcoal grills, and firepit.

  • A fantastic find; the wrap around porch is reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel Porch; there is an upper level deck with tables, chairs and candlelight with a lovely view of field and wooded area. It is in great shape with evidence of continuous high quality upgrade work. Jules and his son Mark are great to talk to and helpful in all things; we much enjoyed a warm and cozy fire in the fire pit after a late summer rain.

The cabin is bright, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated. Everything you need is there, including full cooking and dining ware, bath towels and shampoo/soap, and freshly made beds with comfy pillows, sheets, and comforters. You will love the outdoor propane grill and fire ring in a peaceful, private setting surrounded by forest views. All within easy reach of the best that Cook Forest has to offer! Please note that access to the upstairs bedroom requires climbing a spiral staircase (see pictures).
The cabin has a water filtration system installed, and tap water is safe and fully potable. Hot water is reliable and in good supply. Internet and wi-fi is available throughout the cabin and the immediate surroundings outside. Streaming entertainment options (Netflix, etc.) can be accessed on the living room TV. Guests are welcome to make full use of the cabin's facilities, but are requested to please clean any dishes, cookware, and cooking surfaces after use. Firewood is provided near the fire ring, and can be replenished upon request for longer stays.
The area around the cabin is a peaceful nature oasis shared by less than a dozen other cabins. The Cook Forest State Park / PA Gamelands surround most of the area, providing thousands of acres of preserved nature and wildlife reserves at your doorstep. Information on hiking trails and other recreational activities at Cook Forest State Park can be found on the Pennsylvania DCNR website. Additionally, there are numerous privately run activities in and around the Cook Forest area, such as kayak rentals, wine and spirits tastings, go karts and arcade games, and petting zoos / wildlife sanctuaries. There is a wonderful indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant located right at the entrance of the private road leading to the cabin. It is open every day from 11AM - 2AM except for Christmas Day. There is a gas station and a few convenience stores for groceries and basic necessities located a short drive away in downtown Leeper.
  • The perfect getaway in the woods! Everything you could ask for and more! Comfy, cozy and and exactly what you need to get back to whats imprtant. Family time!

    Jennifer2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at this cabin expecting it was beautiful due to the pictures, What we didn't expect was how warm and welcoming it was! As soon as you enter this cabin, you feel like you've stepped into a Hallmark film! It's so comforting and the little touches Connie and Ray add make you feel at home. We discovered that every inch of it was supremely clean, first aid supplies were readily available in case of emergency, and I can't tell you how many times while cooking dinner my children (13 and 16 year old boys) said "it's so peaceful here". for anyone looking to reconnect with older kids (we played board games and trivia games at the gorgeous wooden table dining table) this is the way to go. we could gush for days! Thank you again Connie and Ray

    Amber2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Connie and Ray were great hosts and the cabin was just wonderful- very, very clean and well-stocked. They thought of everything!! We didn't want to leave and hope to return!

  • The cabin was amazing. It was spotless, had nice touches of decor that made it feel like home, and the location was perfect. Everything was smooth and relaxing.

  • Our family of seven adults and five kids fit perfectly in this beautiful retreat in the woods. We were so surprised to find the cabin completely decorated for Christmas - tree, wreaths, and everything...down to the dishes! This personal touch made it all the more special as we were celebrating our family Christmas weekend. The kids enjoyed playing outside and s’mores on the fire. Connie and Ray’s home is a perfect getaway for anyone who is looking for a very homey cabin near Cooks Forest. Loved this place and would definitely recommend!!!

Unfinished full basement slowly converting into a man cave with dart board and two seating areas with tables for that long-overdue board game with the kids, card game with friends/family, or just to chill out with a beverage. Stays naturally cool in the summer at around 65 degrees.
What we love about the neighborhood other than it's wonderful, genuine people and very laid-back, peaceful, even idyllic atmosphere that takes you back to a time when life was simple, and that the house is quaintly and uniquely secluded. . .situated as the last one on a tiny stretch of road surrounded by forest and water. We own the tiny cottage behind it, our deceased parent's lifelong friends own the vacation home on the water next to our property, with their friends living just downstream to the south, and another set of long time friends adjacent. So it has that comfortable, secure, family feel to it where everyone has known each other for many, many years.
  • Host was a great communicator. They answered every question before I could even ask it! Highly recommended.

  • Great views and the cabin had plenty of space.

    Chad2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is outstanding! You could not be more on the river and the view is gorgeous. The cabin has a charm that cannot be accurately described in a review—you just simply have to experience for yourself. If you’re looking to book a trip and have this place as one of your options, forget the others—this is where you want to be.

    Christen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! Cannot beat the waterfront views and secluded feeling this place provides. Very clean, loaded with anything you could think of in the kitchen and a great, communicative host (among many other pros)! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly, highly recommended.

    Brian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great views of the water and a pretty secluded place to relax. Due to most guests leaving things behind we had just about everything to cook as far as oils/spices/condiments. The furniture, decor, towels and linens are all very basic and outdated, but for a cabin in the woods in Pennsylvania....We didn’t expect a 5 star hotel. (But if you’re particular about towels/linens - I would suggest bringing your own). Definitely a very off the beaten path location so I would highly suggest bringing enough food/beverages with you so you don’t have to drive 30-40min to replenish. Overall Brian’s place was a perfect location for a quiet getaway and a digital detox (as the service is pretty much non existent even with Verizon. If you need WiFi while visiting here, a personal hotspot is necessary).

    Alyssa2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing birthday get away at this house! Everything we needed was supplied for us and Brian was always so quick with responses. Definitely plan to come back in the winter!

  • Brian is an absolutely thoughtful host! He has put together all the instructions and recommendation for you to make the most out of your stay at his airbnb. His log house is gorgeous and very comfortable. You can find a lot of extra things you would need around the house. We enjoyed the snowy January sitting in the warm cozy living room with the gorgeous view of lake in front of us. The hot tub is a prefect addition for the snowy nights especially since Brian has all the instruction for proper use and he makes sure its being well taken care of so the guests enjoy a clean awesome hot tub during their stay. We had a fantastic time with my friends at Brian's airbnb ,making music and hanging out! I absolutely recommend this place to everyone!

History of The Wheeler-Farley House: Be swept back in time to when "Timber was King" when you stay at The Wheeler-Farley House. Purchased in 1929 by our great-grandparents, Joseph Allen and Rachel Wheeler Farley, The Wheeler-Farley House is located on land that was once owned by our great-great grandfather, Nelson Platt Wheeler. His company, Wheeler & Dusenbury, was a major player in the timber industry during the 1800s through the early 1900s. At one time, Wheeler & Dusenbury owned 55,000 acres in this area of Pennsylvania now known as The Pennsylvania Wilds. Just about all of the land was sold or donated and is now incorporated into The Allegheny National Forest. As fate would have it, The Wheeler-Farley House came up for sale in the spring of 2006 after being out of the family since 1978. We are so excited to have it back and hope that you will enjoy the land our ancestors loved, as we do, when you stay at The Wheeler-Farley House. While there, look at pictures of days gone by, read about the logging camps of the area and the adventures on The Allegheny River, rafting the logs downstream. Visit an Old Growth Forest at Hearts Content, once a Wheeler & Dusenbury logging camp and now part of The Allegheny National Forest. Referring to The Wheeler-Farley House, the son of the former owner said, Your ancestors sure knew what they were doing, they picked the prettiest place on The Allegheny River. We whole-heatedly agree with him and now want to share this beautiful land with you.
  • This place is beautiful

  • Our family highly recommend’s The Wheeler-Farley House! It is large and roomy, great for a big group or family. It is exceptionally clean. There were ample towels and bedding. The WiFi was an awesome perk! The televisions with cable worked seamlessly. Our group enjoyed sitting on the porches watching the river. The riverbank and large flat rocks are a wonderful place to hang out for the day. The fire pit and grill are perfect for winding down your evening. Bring some yard games and enjoy the spacious area for some fun competition. If your group is looking for some rest and relaxation....this is the place!

    Bridget2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful river house was perfect for our family reunion weekend with 8 adults and 8 kids. There was plenty of space; a great downstairs area that was the "kids' bedroom" and a ping pong table; a creek that was perfect the little kids to play in; and a rock that was great for fishing and river-watching. We had some torrential downpours when we were there and there was some damage to the dirt road. Frank was incredibly responsive, replying to our 11pm text in 10 minutes; his caretaker was there the next day with a backhoe to fix it. Highly recommend!

    Danella2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Wheeler Farley House is perfect for a fishing trip with the family or a reunion with friends. The house is beautiful, and so is the surrounding woods and river. We loved every part of our stay. We played golf, went canoeing, and played bocce in the yard while having a fire and cooking out.

  • The location is perfect. The room was clean. Jules and his son were excellent hosts. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed the camp fire and the clear night skies. Can not wait to come back.

  • The location was beautiful! Peaceful and serene. Jules and Mark were very accommodating. It was clean and comfortable. Exactly what we needed. It’s a short distance to the river for kayaking. And not far from a few local restaurants. They even had a fire pit ready if you just wanted to relax under the stars.

  • We had a great stay at the Brass Lantern. Jules and Mark were super nice and very hospitable. It was very quiet and peaceful. I loved the deck down the hall from our room overlooking the spacious yard. I would love to stay again in the future. Great place with good people! 😄

  • This is our second time staying here, and we had a great visit. We especially enjoyed how friendly and welcoming Jules and Mark were. They even built a fire in the evening and invited us to sit with them to chat and enjoy the beautiful weather. The location honestly can't be beat. We look forward to returning next Fall.

  • The Lodge is in a beautiful wooded location not far from a main road. It is very cozy and comfortable and close to all the amenities that Cook's Forest has to offer. Jules and his son Mark are great hosts who work hard to please. Enjoy the views from the second story porch, or have Mark set you an amazing campfire and enjoy the setting and the wildlife as they wander in and out of view.

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The lodge is in a great location to enjoy Cook Forest and Allegheny National Forest trails. We spoke with Jules and Mark over coffee/breakfast and they are both very kind and hospitable. The room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone who loves the tranquility of the outdoors but also enjoys the luxuries of a hot shower and warm bed. It's the best of both worlds! We definitely plan to return.

  • Great lodge at amazing location. Right in the heart of the Allegheny forest. Jules is an amazing host and very kind.

  • Perfect outpost for trails in Cook Forest State Park, Allegheny National Forest (with parts of the North Country Trail). Easy to find and get to, with plenty parking space, place for a small (or big) fire, hangout areas, etc. Decor might by a bit quirky, kind of frozen in time at some bygone area, but therefore so much soulful.

    Stefan2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • I appreciated a serene place to spend the night en route to a family event. My room was quiet and I didn’t even hear other guests.

    Jorene2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you want forest, deer, and country living surrounded by nature... this is the place. Your space is clean and neat. Breakfast choices are plentiful. Your host, Jules, is accommodating and friendly.

  • In the heart of the forest.

    Alvaro2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised

    Jacek2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a cozy getaway to rest your heads while scoping out the Forest, this is the place to be! Jules and his son go out of their way to make their guests comfortable, and are great to chat with! The back deck, the woods around you, the lack of television to distract you are just a few things which lend themselves to a wonderful “recharge” here at the Brass Lantern.

    Jacqueline2018-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away from it all and relax in nature, this is a great place to do that. Excellent value, fine people, and everything you need.

    Tommy2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our first time in the area so the lodge is a the perfect rustic but comfy place to stay. Jules was always available to help with hiking suggestions, local info, etc. We particularly liked hanging out on the porches & decks as well as the blazing bonfire last night.

    Diane2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • I brought tablet, used their wify so we can watch movie through Netflix, nice deck since I'm smoking , bar and restaurant 10 minutes from there. Clean rooms

  • If you are ever in the Cooks Forest area I highly recommend staying with Jules at the Brass Lantern Lodge. My family had an amazing stay there and Jules and Mark are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to make our stay at the lodge wonderful! The area is so beautiful and while we were out exploring the park we came home to a lovely fire. I had mentioned that we wanted to have a fire and when we got home we it was dark and I too tired to start a fire but I didn’t have to because our hosts had made a fire for us! We definitely look forward to staying with Jules again!

  • It was good staying at Brass Lantern Lodge for a week. It is clean and well-maintained, with rooms meticulously and tastefully decorated. I enjoyed Jules's hospitality and thoughtful conversations. The location is excellent, just a few minutes from the gorgeous trails of Cook Forest State Park. Highly recommended.

  • Jules & Mark were very friendly and accommodating hosts for our overnight stay. The lodge is as described, but nicer in a homey way. Best nights sleep in comfortable bed and in peaceful Cook Forest setting. Nice dinner at Forest Nook down the road. Hope to come again for a longer stay.

    Jane2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for access to the Allegheny's. Good breakfast and warm hospitality.

    Nick2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jules places is just as described. The location is perfect for getting around in Cook Forest and even more peaceful than we could have hoped for. Cozy and homey in a good old fashioned way. We will definitely return when we got a hankering to go off the woods again.

  • This is a nice place to stay & get away from it all. Beautiful landscape surrounds you in this cozy spot. Was the perfect spot to launch an expedition to Cook State Park & the Allegheny National Forest. The continental breakfast & a conversation with Jules hit the spot to start the day . Would highly recommend!
