Places to stay in Swadlincote
My lovely home is a large detached house in a quiet cul de sac on the edge of the small village of Fradley, close to the A38 with convenient access to the historic city of Lichfield, the National Memorial Arboretum, St George's Park National Football Centre and Burton -on-Trent, Derby and Birmingham are 30-40 mins drive away. Also, for business guests, Fradley Park commercial centre is just 5 mins drive. There is ample parking at the property.
My house is good for singles or couples as well as business guests for short or longer stays for pleasure or business. It is light, spacious and airy with modern features such as the glazed staircase and the lime green kitchen.
Fradley is a quiet village, yet there are plenty of activities around the area from lively Lichfield, Birmingham only 30-40 mins away and a vibrant community offering village hall activities from fitness groups to a free monthly film club.

  • Lynn was so warm and welcoming, and the room was cozy and beautifully appointed. Although we weren't able to get into the restaurant she recommended for dinner, we had a lovely walk around town and found another place we liked. (Try Ma Ma Thai!) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back next time we're in the area.

  • Super host even when there was flooding all around! Although having to deal with a parent's evening with potential flooding dangers she ensured we were safe and sound first. Would thoroughly recommend a stay with Kat.

  • What a wonderful welcome for a weary traveller.... Kat treated me like an old friend, and even shared her supper with me, such a lovely & generous host! Truly a home from home, and all my needs met. Fantastic to have my dog made equally welcome, no fuss or extra surcharge added on to the fee. Excellent value for money, I will definitely go back!

  • I wanted somewhere close so I could visit the National Memorial Arboretum and Kat’s place was perfect. Only just over 5 miles away and in a nice rural location. Kat was a wonderful host and so hospitable, offering valuable advice about my itinerary and local amenities. My room was big, ensuite, confortable and clean and I couldn’t have asked for more. I had a lovely stay. Thank you Kat :-)

  • Great space with all that is needed for a short stay. I stayed just one night while working in the area and will loo to stay again. Perfect for what was needed. Easy walk to the local pub for drinks. Meals are served during the week but not Mondays or Tuesdays, which was one of the nights I was saying, so can't comments on the food, but the pub had a lovely atmosphere with warm log fires. Will be staying again.

  • A lovely place to stay to explore the surrounding area. Very good location for working in or visiting Lichfield especially. We enjoyed walks along the canal and in the village. The local coffee shop is a great place to go.

    Ben2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is an OCD's paradise. Everything spotless and in order. The linen is crispy clean; towels are fresh you can tell these have been really washed and dried properly. So perfect we were reluctant to leave. If you work around Derby area or even towards Sutton etc dont think this place is too far. It is the perfect place for respite and working away from home.

  • Beautiful barn conversion in the heart of the country, with every comfort. Ideal central location for visiting many places, especially the National Memorial Aboretum. Rachel is an amazing host who thinks of everything and Alrewas is a pretty village. The barn is on the edge of a beautiful canal and the village had great places to eat, including a good Indian restaurant on the doorstep. I’d recommend it to anyone and would love to go back.

Delightful 2 bedroom barn conversion in the village of Edingale with far reaching views across the Mease valley and located on the edge of the National Forest and close to the National Memorial Arboretum. The property in with in easy reach of neighbouring towns of Lichfield Tamworth and Burton upon Trent.
The property is within a very small complex of converted barns along with the main farmhouse which dates back to the early mid 1600s. This particular barn was used as a dairy when the farm was fully functioning. The property was converted into a dwelling some years ago but has been fully renovated in the last 6 months. It is an idyllic setting and offers a great country get away.
  • Great place, light and airy, lovely views and everything you could need.

    Laura2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean accomodation and beautiful location, everything we needed. Slept well, as beds were really comfortable.

    Greg2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location with a great rural view and setting to wake up to. Located within the courtyard of a historic farm, really felt like getting you’re getting away from the hustle and bustle while still very easy to get to local towns and villages. A great part of the world well worth a visit. The cottage itself is delightful; well appointed and very clean with a good kitchen and spacious living areas. Paul was highly communicative and flexible and we’d highly recommend him as a host.

    Henry2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely cottage, a good size and well equipped! Set within a private courtyard with parking for two cars the entrance overlooks amazing rural views (including sheep at the bottom of the garden). The bedrooms are large and the sitting room and kitchen have a lovely high roof line giving a wonderful feeling of space.

    Tony2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s place was great. The house is at the end of a quiet courtyard and isn’t overlooked at all. There’s great views of the local farmland and a large garden to sit in. The house is spacious with high ceilings. Would highly recommend

    George2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place. Comfortable and cosy with a well equipped kitchen, two good sized bedrooms, a lovely bathroom (with shower and bath) and two dining areas (one indoors and one on the patio). A nice big garden and stunning views of the countryside. Off the beaten track but you don't get the feeling that you're too remote as the major roads are accessible and just a few minutes' drive away.

Guests can walk down the field behind the home but not use the facilities that are on site, can use the mobile home and the shower room only and walk through the field to the stream at the bottom. Please ensure when leaving the place gates are closed and when entering gates are closed straight after. Can park for free on the tarmac car park or in front of the mobile home on the grass area however be mind ful if wet and not in a four by four could get vehicle stuck. The mobile home has the benefit of a comfy large king size bed. A single bed can be added into the room upon request minimum five hours notice. To access the toilet, sink and shower have to walk a small distance from the caravan. The toilet and sink and shower were removed to make the space larger and better views. To walk to the toilet it is quite private and close to the room around 20 foot.
Yoxall is a lovely village that has three pubs one being an Italian restaurant. A butchers and farm shop is a short walk from the mobile home it is just behind and can be seen from the rear of the mobile home. The home is a short drive from Jackson’s bank walk, the co op in kings Bromley and Barton under Needwood. Barton Under Needwood has shops, cafes, an excellent Indian restaurant called the little Indian, fish and chip shop a traditional cinema located at Barton Marina. It is recommended to visit Barton Marina. The mobile home is also about twenty minutes drive from beautiful Derbyshire which has stunning scenery I recommend visiting Matlock. St George’s park in Tatenhill is ten minutes drive away from the home where the England football team are trained. Also at Tatenhill there is an airfield which often has public events. Hoar cross is also ten minutes drive from there guests can experience a spa day they and their is the Meynell Ingram Arms to visit which used to host the local hunt. The mobile home is ten minutes drive away from Sudbury hall museum of childhood which the national trust runs. This is just a few places to visit there are many more including Alton Towers theme park.

Welcome to my gorgeous Stapenhill Duplex apartment available to single discerning non smokers on short terms. Extremely clean, quiet and comfy for professional visitors to Burton on Trent. Please do NOT book on behalf of others as it makes a nonsense of my stated preferences. It forces hosts to leave reviews on Profiles of people who never actually stayed, & bypasses all required Security Protocols which as a single woman l prefer to be in place.
I live in the duplex, occupying the main double bedroom. The duplex is Non-smoking throughout. It's quiet to work on your laptop or simply relax in clean, warm surroundings. There's a single comfy bed in spare room, ideal for single Business guests. I'm LGBT & Vegan friendly. I have serious borderline OCD cleanliness issues, so guests MUST be non smoking with great personal hygiene for me to be happy to have them in my home. There are 4 pubs within walking distance and various fast food outlets, which l never use as I don't eat junk food, but you feel free so long as you keep it out of bedrooms. Food can be heated up in the small kitchen. Children, smokers & pets are definitely not allowed.
Heathlands Grange is a really attractive and quiet area with great transport links and access to nearby parks and the town centre. There are 4 pubs in walking distance. People in Burton are very approachable and happy to help with information on anything, and there's even a small Community Help Centre down the road on Short Street, along with a Laundrette, corner shop, cash point and off licence.

Situated a short drive off the A38, between Derby and Lichfield, Lock House is close to Burton and many other towns in the Midlands. It is in a quiet haven, surrounded by small lakes and bordering the canal. The joy of the location is that it is close enough to access many road networks and places, but far enough away from the town to enjoy the countryside. Guests can walk to a number of small villages nearby and enjoy what they have to offer, or just walk through the National Forest and enjoy the Staffordshire landscape. There is much to do in and around the area- please visit our website, (URL HIDDEN) for more information. We are close to many National Trust Properties, the National Memorial Arboretum, Catton Hall, and the National Museum of Brewing. • Lock House is a fantastic bed and breakfast in an amazing setting. The views from both bedrooms look straight out onto a lock on the canal and further afield is yet more water. Even though it feels as if you are in the middle of nowhere you are less than 5 minutes away from the A38. Both bedrooms are well equipped with all the facilities you need. A large choice of teas, coffee and hot chocolate is available and Julia provides fruit and cake in the downstairs resident's lounge. After a great nights sleep a lovely breakfast was provided including fruit salad, a choice of cereals and a cooked breakfast ( vegetarian). Keys are made available to you so that you are free to come and go as you please. Julia is an attentive host but also gives you your space. Communication was always prompt and Julia always responded. I will definitely be staying again.

Delightful 1 bedroom barn conversion in the village of Edingale with far reaching views across the Mease valley and located on the edge of the National Forest and close to the National Memorial Arboretum.

Its beautiful rural setting overlooks avenues of ancient lime trees and is conveniently located on the edge of the beautiful National Forest. Close to Lichfield with it's famous 3 spired Cathedral and birthplace of Dr Samuel Johnson it is also just a 3 minute drive to the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas.

The Lodge is in the middle of the countryside. There are country walks to local villages and water attractions at Fradley Junction. The National Memorial Arboretum is less than 5 minutes drive away. The Lodge is also on a popular cycling route.
  • We loved the cottage. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Amazing house in a gorgeous location! Everything we could possibly need was there, great space, comfy beds, lovely garden, separate garage with washer and dryer, really picturesque but easy couple of mins drive to a co-op and coffee shop etc. Thoroughly recommend! Just be warned that the WiFi isn’t good enough for streaming etc but if that doesn’t matter to you, then this is the place for you!! Thanks Nicky :-)

    David2019-08-22T00:00:00Z

    Harriet2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home with a delightful garden and great location. We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage. It has everything we needed and was our 'home away from home'. The beds were very comfortable and we slept really well there, even though the property is on a main road. It was a little hot in the master bedroom but there was a bit of a heatwave going on so I am sure that is not a common issue. The kitchen was well equipped and we were very grateful to find a few basics (salt, pepper, tea, coffee, oil etc.) as well as ample toilet rolls and towels. Watched some Wimbledon, which was fun, and enjoyed playing cards at the kitchen table. The only negative was the wifi - we gave up trying to connect. Overall a delightful, well-appointed home with a beautiful garden. We would definitely like to come back again.

  • We had a really lovely few days at the cottage and would definitely recommend it! It was so nice to be able to let the children into the garden and know they were safe with the fencing all around and a great lawn to play football on! There were so many things to see near the cottage and would definitely have to return to see them all! Thank you Nicola

The Lock House is a beautiful 18th century house, in an idyllic setting facing the Trent and Mersey Canal and adjacent to Branston Water Park. We have 2 double rooms to let, one en-suite and the other with a private bathroom. An ideal place to visit the midlands.
Set by the Trent and Mersey Canal and adjacent to Branston Water Park, we are in the heart of the country and the National Forest. Beautiful walks invite visitors, and there is much to do locally. Being central, we are in easy reach of many towns and areas of beauty. See our website or listing on trip advisor for ideas of places to visit and things to do. Parking is plentiful. There is a lounge and dining room, where guests may eat breakfast and are welcome to eat other meals here too. Guests are also welcome to use the garden. My husband (Peter) and I always enjoy the company of others and are happy to help guests in any way possible. If they wish for privacy they will have it. Likewise, if they wish for company, we aim to please. We always greet guests on arrival and serve breakfast daily. The Lock House, although situated in a quiet area, is close enough o the A38 for easy access to the Midlands. We love the fact you can just go outside the door and you have so much choice of where to walk. The nearby Bridge Inn is always an inviting treat, as is Barton Marina . This has a fantastic, small , independant cinema and a great pub, cafe and little craft shops, The National Memorial Arboretum is a favourite haunt too. Well worth a visit. There is a bus stop in the village, a short walk away. The train station is about 3 miles from Lock House. It is quiet and dark at night, so a good night's sleep is usually guaranteed. • I don't think I've ever had as good a stay in a bnb as I had at Julia's. I was in the area to attend a music festival for the first time ever and was woefully unprepared, and when I went to leave for the venue on the first morning wearing tennis shoes and a sweater, Julia stopped me and offered to lend me an old pair of Wellies and her husband's raincoat. I hadn't considered the weather and so I accepted, and sure enough the mud was ankle deep and it rained heavily a number of times. Furthermore, when transport via taxi turned out to be difficult she offered to give me a ride there and back (and to/from the train station as well), and wrote down detailed instructions for me to give to cab drivers. The rooms, breakfast, and location were all excellent as well, but Julia's exceptional hospitality saved me from what could've been a miserable rain-and-mud-soaked weekend and allowed me to have a fantastic time at my event. Would absolutely recommend!
