Unique ambience, super cozy atmosphere by two fireplaces, one in the dining room and another one in the living room. The entire house was sparkling clean and we found everything we needed. One room has a terrace with a stunning view to the sea. As a little welcome present we found some fruits and a bottle of wine. It was by far the best airbnb we ever had!

Charming, comfortable, clean, and beautiful. The house sits upon one of the many mountains looking out at the ocean. You have access to all areas of the island from the house. We felt right at home!

The house is absolutely stunning, inside and outside! Marilene was a lovely host, she was really reactive to any message which is so reassuring. When we arrived, she welcomed us with a big smile and took the time to show us around the house and give us some advice for our visits. She recommended a carnival in Santana on the day of our arrival and we had a great time there! The house is perfectly well equipped and is super super clean. We loved our welcome gifts as it gave a personal warm touch which made us feel at home :) thank you Marilene! My only comment would be that it was quite cold when we were there, so bring big jumpers and use the wood-burner and blankets!

Wow what a house !! We loved everything: the exceptional house, the fantastic welcome gifts, the decoration, the cleanliness, the restaurant next door excellent (a stroll can be done on the coastal path!), The comfort of the beds (small precision a room was closed, there were only four of us, it didn't bother us at all but it can be useful to know), the outdoor barbecue, the balcony with the sea view, the smell of flowers ... in short we we have only one desire: to return to the same place !! Thanks again!!

Excellent place in a quiet town on the North coast. Only 50 meters from a bar restaurant. The house very nice and has lots of space and is close to some nice hiking trails.

Our stay in Sao Jorge was great. The cottage is very nice and spacious. On arrival a few little things awaited us to eat and drink. Marilene received us personally, showed everything and gave many tips for the north coast. That was great! We were there in January, so slippers or at least thick socks are highly recommended.

Great place to stay, 5 star experience. Host Christina was most helpful and kind. Place was immaculate. Bakery, and supermarket not too far away.

Cristina and her husband kindly picked us up at the airport upon our arrival before we had a quick drive around Funchal. Their loft corresponds in every respect to the description and the photos. Very well equipped and located 20 minutes walk from the center of Funchal, it allows to rest after a good day of hiking and exploring Madeira.

Cristina was a great host and together with her husband showed us excellent hospitality throughout our stay. Having picked us up from the airport they took us on a tour of Funchal and dropped us at the local supermarket to get set up with food for our stay. The apartment was extremely comfortable with excellent views over the sea. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend to anyone.

Very cool location ~15 minutes drive up from the coast line. Clean pool, Clean house and very cool roof top sundeck overlooking the valley. 30 second walk from family restaurant and outside bar next to common area overlooking the coastline below. Coffee shop just downhill about 5 minutes walk too. Supermarket within 5 minutes walk.

Highly recommended! The house is very beautiful and well furnished! Luís and Isabel are very helpful and kind! Public transport is nearby and there is a lot of choice where to have breakfast or a drink in the surrounding (by foot). Funchal is very colorful and the people are so friendly. We’ll certainly come back!

Nothing for people with disabilities. Lovely neighborhood with access to bus to the city (takes about 15 minutes), bar, restaurant, bakery, shop and church.

A brilliant place to stay. Maria and Alexandre made check in really easy, making sure we found the place and had provided lots of fruits, vegetables and eggs from their farm when we arrived. The place is perfect, well equipped kitchen, good bathroom, all clean and tidy. The bed deserves a special mention as its super comfy. There is also an outdoor kitchen where you can bbq, with a table outdoor sink etc. The location is stunning. You are miles away from all of the hotels on the south of the island but you are well placed to explore the north with a number of levadas nearby. Overall a brilliant holiday.

Staying here was the highlight of our trip to the Canary Islands. The fresh fruits and vegetables from the farm, the proximity to beautiful trails that take you up to a panoramic view of the island, the beautiful view right from the home, and the animals... it was wonderful.

It is a cozy, little house with a stunning mountain-view. The furnishing is remarkable, there is everything from a barbecue to the microwave. Maria and Alexandre are great and warmly hosts. 100% recommendation !

The location is pretty remote, so Maria made sure we could find it by showing is the way. The tips about the supermarket and the nearby levada walk were also appreciated. Fresh vegetables, herbs and eggs available in our appartment. Veel delicious! Would love to stay again

We were at Ana's for 10 nights and rented a car to go hiking on the island. The welcome was perfect for us. Practical, comfortable, clean and beautiful accommodation. In addition, welcoming hosts, knowing how to combine discretion, warmth and generosity. If one day we return to Madeira, it will be at Ana's.

Ana's Place is really nice and perfect for your holidays on madeira. The hospitality was great and we got many usefull tips for our trips around the island. The rooms are nice and cosy and the house is located a little bit outside of funchal with a nice view over the ovean. We enjoyed our time ar Ana's Place and would come back anytime soon.

Had a great stay at Isabel’s place. She was so nice and met us when we arrived. Isabel made sure we were comfortable during our stay. The space was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Was walking distance to old town and city center. Would highly recommend!

Cheerful decor, clean and well-equipped apartment in pleasant residential area within easy reach of all the main city sights and seafront. Isabel is a friendly and helpful host. Be aware that Funchal is hilly - if you have luggage coming from the airport it is a tiring climb up the hill from the bus stop, may be wiser to get a taxi.

Of all the Airbnb experience I've had, this one takes the cake. Our host was kind, thoughtful, responsive, and helpful beyond what was required. She gave us everything we needed for a comfortable stay and then helped us out with transportation suggestions and local tips on food and entertainment. In addition, she even had personal samples of Portuguese wine for us to try when we got there. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thank you for treating us like family!

Nice quiet location, spacious terrace. Equipped kitchen. Very pleasant stay. 9 nights, thank you to the man who lives on site, and brought us wood for the fireplace each night.

The house is located directly at a bus stop (103 or 56) It has good kitchen equipment (plus even a washing machine). On foot you need about half an hour to the restaurants but you can also go by bus. Luis father who made our check in is very nice and helpful. All in all it is super nice place to stay for a few nights.

This was a great airbnb, it had all the facilities we needed as well as a balcony with lovely views! It was also perfectly located to go up Pico Ruvo and its surrounding peaks. Also the bus stop was literally just outside the house! Luis was a great host, who was flexible and had plenty of local knowledge and advice, thank you!!

The house is realy nice and big. In the winter, in Santana is too cold, so the fireplace in this house is a big advantage. Mr. Sousa gave us enough wood, thank you very much. Mr. Luis was not at home, but always available by phone or mail. Pico Ruivo is only 10km far. The bus stop is in front of the house. Thank you for your help with the fire.

It is far more better than I expected. I really appreciate Susana and Helder (they were really nice and friendly) for their hospotality. A great place. Quiet vicinity. Very nice hosts. At home you can find all the necessary things that needs for your stay. Extremely clean. Close to attractions of nature, forest, ocean.

Susana and Helder are so friendly, helpful and warm hearted People, that you feel like visiting friends and not like having booked an airbnb. The flat is super cosy and super clean and you find anything what you could need, and if there is something missing, you could defo ask Susana or Helder. I even had fresh flowers on the table. There is a big terrace with a beatiful view. You can see Pico Ruivo! :) The flat is super central, you will find bars, restaurants, grocery shops, the madeira theme Park, the cute little houses of santana, etc. If you want to hike, you can get a Taxi from around the corner. It was 10 Euro to Queimadas and 20 to achada do teixeira from where you could walk to Pico Ruivo. :) I was travelling alone, and after every hiking tour, i did by myself, Susana was having a look for me in the evening if i returned back safely so, to check that i didn´t get lost in the mountains or in the forests. How nice is that. I felt in really good hands. I will definitely recommend this flat. Thank you so much for everything, Susana and Helder! :)

Very nice and friendly host, we even could check in a bit earlier. The apartment is spacious and is equipped with everything you need. From Santana you can do several trips to the northern part of Madeira if you got a car. We visited Pico Ruivo, went to the Sao Vicente Caves and hiked the cliffs to the far east of the island. There are several bars and restaurants in walking distance and a big supermarket in town. We enjoyed our stay, I can recommend :)

We enjoyed our stay with the very hospitable Helder and Susana in their well equipped and spacious separate upstairs apartment. They looked after us well, turning on the heating earlier than usual which we really appreciated because it was a cold weather. We found the bed very firm. The apartment is a great base for walking around Santana and exploring the north coast of Madeira. There's a large supermarket quite close and several restaurants nearby.

The accommodation near Santana was great. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Everything you needed was there. There was delicious breakfast every day and the service was very friendly. The property is a good starting point for hikes. I can definitely recommend it and would love to come back.

I had a lovely time staying at Justino's place. Unfortunately I did not meet with Justino personally as he was off the Island but we had good communication, and his sister Cindy welcomed me instead, which was great. I enjoyed my stay in the flat very much, it is very spacious and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I found it to be a great location for lots of day hikes, would certainly recommend, and would stay again if I am lucky enough to come back to Madeira.

We were very well received by Justino's sister (who runs a great restaurant 300m from the apartment) The accommodation is clean and the wood stove has warmed us for the cool nights. The place is very calm. Provide a rental car to circulate in Madeira, however. Otherwise a bus passes daily in front of the apartment to go to funchal. Thanks again to the owner.

I had a very nice stay at São Jorge in this nice apartement. Such a beautiful and quiet place with wonderful walks nearby fx. Levada ro Rei and a walk to Calhau do São Jorge. I would defenitely recommend this place to others. :-)

Perfect place! The house is perfect for being alone with thoughts, absent from work, enjoy the beauty of the island. The house is very cozy and there is a real wood-burning fireplace, with which you can bask and fall asleep right next to the sofa. Great place to relax!

The small house is very nice centrally located in Santana, yet it is nice and quiet. Many things in Santana can be easily reached on foot, such as the supermarket, restaurants and traditional houses. Santana is also a good starting point for excursions and hikes.

António is a good host. The communication and check-in were great. The small house is equipped with kitchen and bathroom, as well as a terrace, where you can spend time reading a book or having breakfast. The kitchen is equipped with everything necessary. The bus stop is right in front of the house.

The accommodation was very nice ; there was all the necessary to cook and sleep. It was good for visiting santana and the around ! 😊

If you are looking for nice place far from the busy South Cost, it is perfect.

Antonio is extremly kind and welcoming. He gave us a lot of tipps where to go hiking and how to get there. The place is beautiful, it's a cozy and super clean little house right in the middle of Santana with a terrasse and a small supermarket just around the corner. We would definetely come back here! :-)

Nice flat, everything there You need. Hot water is hot, cold water is cold. All new: laundry machine, microwave, tv and fridge with large freezer. Not new: wooden furniture, but who cares? For this nice price, would you expect a maharaja suite? The place is cosy, nice and clean. That's what counts.

Arrival very convenient with external code box. Decio is very responsive to any request even if we have not met it. The house consists of 3 rooms but we were alone which was very convenient! Fully equipped kitchen and living room with TV with a unique view. I recommend without hesitation!

Very good address where we were warmly welcomed by Cilène and Antoine. It is a soothing place and the hosts have a good state of mind. We had dinner and had breakfast. Antoine and Cilène favor products from their garden. It is a perfect place if you are in "cool traveler" mode.

The room is quite literally on the Levada and if you leave the windows open you can fall asleep to the sound of the flowing water. Note that the walls are very thin, so you will hear other guests, especially opening/closing doors. I still slept great and had a wonderful time.

I stayed 3 days and can recommend the place and the hosts. It's a lovely couple. Better bring your food or snacks in advance, because the next small shopping place is 45 min away walking and it's very steep to come back. Anyway, the dinner option is very nice and they provide breakfast was well. There is a small Coffee Bar 15 min away walking.

This is a fantastic location if you prefer more quiet destinations. The town was full of charm and there were plenty of activities (hiking, surfing, swimming, parasailing) near by.

Sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's a good location and cozy interior to have fun with people. Next door is a restaurant with a good taste and price, and a cafe selling bread and coffee for breakfast nearby. The road that leads to the coastal walk is very good. I recommend this space. :)

Very perfect place to discover the north and east side of the island, close to Funchal. In a lovely place with surfing, salty swimming pool, bars, restaurants. Very clean, Rosa was so nice, decoration is nice, we feel well directly. Just perfect when you travel alone and want to meet other travellers!

I definitely recommend staying here while you're traveling! Rosa is the best and it is a great location for swimming, surfing, and paragliding!

The house is in a beautiful place, surrounded by nature. There is much peace and quiet. The bed and the sofa bed are very comfortable. Nearby there are restaurants and walking trails. In February it is cold but with warm clothes and the fireplace we get to be very comfortable.

The cottages in Ribeiro Frio are utterly spectacular! We spent three comfortable and awe-filled nights: nothing to compare with starlight in a dark forest. If you like to hike, like wood-stove backup, love nature’s silence and spirit, do spend some time at Rui’s marvelous cottages. Stop at a good grocery store on the way since you’ll not be near any stores. Get maps, too. Actually, the vendor just down the way has a detailed double-sided roadmap for 10 euros that Is worth its weight in gold given Madeira’s poorly marked roads. Have fun!

We loved this cottage for its situation in the mountains and were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was - with efficient heating and excellent amenities including a modern washing machine and a warm drying room. We couldn’t have asked for more - and Rui was very quick to answer any questions, and most helpful. Altogether excellent!

If you're looking for a relaxing stay in a picturesque corner of the world – Rita's place is for you. Great cottage, full of homey details, with truly amazing bed and everything else you might need. Rita herself was quick and helpful with her responses, adding few tips for local sightseeing. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Airbnb! Totally charming house and Rita was very welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet vacation. The kitchen is pretty well stocked with cookware, internet worked well, and it's close to some nice hikes and a grocery store. It's a little chilly at night, but the heaters and blankets worked great. Definetly worth it to stay someplace so unique.

Very good location to visit the island and the pleasure of sleeping under a straw roof. The house is comfortable, the traditional decoration but sought after, we were charmed by the tranquility of the place and the beautiful view of the mountains and the ocean. The garden gives the opportunity to rest after the hikes. Rita had prepared some sweets of Madeira to welcome us and beautiful flowers in every room! The weekend farmers' market allows you to stock up on exotic fruits and fresh vegetables at more than affordable prices.

Lovely place in Santana on the north side of the island. Great and personal welcome by the host. Some of the best hiking in Madeira is literally just up the road from the house. We particularly enjoyed the garden and outside space for breakfast and brunch as well as watching the sun go down over the hills. Fully equipped kitchen and the supermarket is very close as well.

Our vacation in the "Santana" style cottage was perfect. The communication with Rita was timely, everything was fine at check-in and -out. She is really a great hostess and takes care of your guests (basic groceries shopped & fresh fruit to welcome you) - many thanks Rita for that! The house is as shown in the pictures a dream to relax, the great garden invites you to this and the cozy living room. Directly from the garden you have a great view of the sea and in the mist covered mountains. The equipment was completely present and functional. The location of the cottage is an advantage, in about 10 minutes drive you are in the Queimadas (for levada walks) or on the Pico Ruivo mountain. The Atlantic Pool (Faial) is also just 10 minutes away. For shopping Santana (supermarket "Continente") has everything you need. In September, it gets fresh in the evening, so be sure to pack long pants and a sweater ... Conclusion: house is for 2-5 people great use, good starting point for tours (rather in the northern less touristic part of Madeira). Is perfect for recreation and active holidays! We would come back :-)

A beautiful house in a beautiful place on Madeira. Spacious garden and a peaceful environment. Great base to explore the island. Comfortably furnished and well equipped. Supermarket is close by. Jose’s house is in an amazing spot! Beautiful views from all the windows. There’s an amazing trails that goes around the mountain to next little village with breathtaking views. It’s a bit in the middle of nowhere so maybe best if you have a car. Saying that I didn’t and I managed to get a direct bus to Funchal (number 103) it’s over 2 hours but it’s like taking a tour bus as goes all around the coast and 1300 meters up over the mountains. Everything was super clean and had everything you’d need. The little resturant next door does really nice food and the lady is lovely. A beautiful an non touristic part of Madeira.

Beautiful accomodation in the north of Madeira. One of my best airbnb stays ever! The view from the house is simply incredible, nature lovers will certainly love it. Where do we start. Well the view ,you’ll see that first. Magnificent sea views looking west along the ancient Caminho Real #23 along the cliff face. In summer you’ll really enjoy sitting on the terrace ,watching the sun go down. The villa is small but cosy. Two full bathrooms , a good kitchen , flat screen TV ( no idea if it works , we never turned it on. Too much else to see and do ). Decent WiFi. Going upstairs , don’t bump your head. First bedroom has three singles , master bedroom has a queen and a single. Both have a door leading to a small balcony ( for one chair ) to enjoy the view over the vineyards and sea cliffs. Free parking right at the O Arco restaurant, take the green gate to the left to walk around to the villa. We love the restaurant,ate there any time we were too lazy to cook. Foods good , prices are very reasonable. This villa is centrally located on the north coast so very handy for trips to any of the levadas, villages or walks on the north side. That said , it’s only a 45 minute drive to the south side for day trips. We prefer the north side as the scenery is better and it’s cooler in summer. We found the villa spotlessly clean. Jose was very helpful when needed. Book with confidence. It’s a lovely place at a great price.

Great place for secluded relaxation. A beautiful view of the ocean, next to a restaurant that does not interfere, but adds service. Fully equipped apartments. Near a walking trail over the ocean. At night, only the sound of the ocean and the full sky of stars. I recommend if you want peace and solitude.

Great house in a quiet beautiful place. You can’t name it completely secluded - there is a restaurant nearby, but this does not interfere at all. An ideal place to relax away from the hustle and bustle. We slept with an open window, under the sound of the ocean sleeps wonderfully, no extraneous sounds are heard. The house is small, six in it will be a bit crowded, but for four it’s quite good. There are two bedrooms in the house, one of them is a walk-through. The owner is very hospitable, quickly responds to all requests. There is a small shop in the village where the house is located, but the nearest supermarkets are relatively far away - about 20 minutes by car. In my opinion, you can’t do without a car at all. We rested together for two weeks. We do not regret the choice, we are very glad that we stayed here, we were very pleased.

we loved the north coast .. and this house is a gem that overlooks a portion of the ocean that seems only for you! the photos don't really make the idea of ​​the place .. live is better! the bar and restaurant (with the beautiful ocean view terrace) are another big plus!

Perfect home, accommodation at the top, do not hesitate, go there with your eyes closed. Stay in peace, superb sight on the ocean, the puffins will be with the appointment. We will be glad to come back.

It is a simple cottage with a tent has 1 person1 / 2 (installed outside the roof) and a person can sleep in the house equipped with a beautiful bathroom, a room with a bed, a table and chairs. We were greeted with a platter of fruit and the smile of Rogerio's mother. It is a beautiful village that is worth the trip.

We had a wonderful time on the island of Madeira, Cilene and Antoine are not for nothing! We appreciated the sharing of local vegetarian dishes prepared by Cylene which were a real wealth, which showed us all his / their generosity. We loved sharing Antoine's life experience, his knowledge of the local flora and fauna. Cilene and Antoine are simple, sincere and available people. Many thanks to them! Wow, what a beautiful location and what a nice room with a view of the valley. In the morning I was woken up by the cock at 5:00 am, so bring your earplugs. Antoine has given me various options for local walks. The different dishes from Cilènes are delicious and (almost) all directly from the vegetable garden. Thanks for the nice, relaxing stay!

We loved our stay at Antoine and Cilène! We were very well received. The house is on a levada, it is quite unusual. The place is very charming and very quiet. The view is exceptional! The breakfasts were top! Hearty and home! The fruits of the garden were a real plus. We ate an on-site meal which was excellent and any house too. There are only 2 rooms, so the bathroom can only be shared between 4 people, it was absolutely not a problem! The bathroom was cleaned every day, so nickel. It feels like home. Level situation is rather good, there is a lot of things to do in the area! In short, it is a place that I highly recommend!

The studio of Aldonio is impeccable with all the necessary equipment, clean, the bedding is correct and no noise, you can enjoy a terrace overlooking the countryside and park your car on the ground of Aldonio. Extremely friendly host - local tips, and even invited us to watch the football match. Super lovely space including a beautiful outdoor seating area, and stunning views of the valley and countryside. Peaceful and great location. Complete with the charm of goats and roosters in the distance. Bed was very, very firm. Kitchen was mostly fully equipped - only one small frying pan. Would definitely recommend.

We spent a very nice stay in Aldonio place. It is very clean and a good start point to discover the north coast. Aldonio & his wife were present at our arrival and explained us everything about the place. A very nice and welcoming couple. Aldonio speaks well French which can be usefull. There are many places to eat very close and especially a good one at 10 meters from home (enjoy Sangria and punchas !). A highly recommend place for a short stay at 2 people.

This has been our first stay at Madeira and we were absolutely stunned by the gorgeous view from the terrace, by the hospitality of our hosts Maria & Alexandre, by the house, the quietness and the surroundings. We can only recommend to stay here and enjoy the nice accommodation directly beside lemon and apple trees and lots of monk cress. We’d like to thank Maria & Alexandre for having us.

Great hosts, Maria & Alexandre made our stay very pleasant. Very peaceful location. In nature, away from the crowds. Internet was great. The house has everything you need for short and long term stays. Sometimes it was a little cold (we stayed in the winter), but that's to be expected on this side of the island. You'll need a rental car to access the property, but totally worth it. Close to the levadas, restaurants along the coast, and a short drive to Sao Vicente. The groundskeeper Aldino was very helpful and kind. All in all, highly recommended.

Vivenda Linda Vista 2 is a really nice place. The flat and view was amazing. We love to sit on the balcony. The flat is good to reach and start point for many great tours. In the flat you find everything you need. Carolyn and Marc are very friendly and have many Tipps for a nice stay. Porto da Cruz is a nice city for surfing, swimming in the pools and siting at the bars. We will come back.

It was lovely to stay with Carolyn and Mark - they have a wonderful (or actually two) apartments to share with a miraculous view and they can give you great advice about what to do (and where) around Porto da Cruz and in general on the island. Hope to come back... :)

We had a very pleasant stay during a week at Carolyn and Marc's. We were very well received, they are very nice hosts, attentive and available. Their accommodation is very nice, clean, comfortable, it enjoys a beautiful open view, and is perfectly located to visit all the eastern half of the island and the mountains.

Maria's flat is at great place with nice view over the city. The flat has kitchen, living room and bed connected together in one huge room. Outside there is big terrace where we enjoyed sunbathing and nice views. Maria and her family was very nice, communication was quick and Maria helped us to find our way around in Corona virus time. Apartment - Much larger than I expected, all spaces except the bathroom open (connected together). Purely. Well equipped. Hosts - we did not have personal contact with Maria but with her parents (?). Mum welcomed us very warmly and even though she doesn't speak English, she showed everything, we got along and showed some words similar to Polish so it went. It was a shame to leave this place. We felt at home there. I recommend this place to everyone with all my heart! You will certainly be satisfied :) Angielski: Location - great, beautiful view from terrace. Approx 2km from Monte, house by the main street so easy to find. Altough by main street, the toes is very quiet. Apartment - much bigger then expected, all open spaces (excluded bathroom). Clean. Well equipped. Hosts - we did not meet Maria but with her parents (?). Mother greeted us very warmly and altough she does not spek english she shoed us everything, we talked by showing and talking, some words are similar to polish words so was not that bad and we communicated. We really enjoyed our stay. Apartment is spacious with panorama view over Funchal. We loved the small thougthfull things like oil, vinegar, some spicies, plastic takeaway boxes (for having lunch on the way) and first aid kit. Maria is a nice host. Obrigado!

A wonderful place to stay, with everything you need. My recommendation !!!

The island has two distinct sides- the South where Funchal and all the beaches are and the North where you’d find peace, spectacular views, and great hiking. So assuming you want to stay in the North, this is the place to stay! Easy 20 min drive from the airport, 30 min to Funchal, and 1 hour to Porto Moniz on the Western side of the island. Great location (the village of Santana), great house, and a wonderful host...what else do you need for an enjoyable vacation! Considering coming back next year.

Very nice house in a wonderful area very quiet. We are near of the city Santana but we had the quietness that we want when we are on holidays. Thank you to Marco and Luis for their kindness and their advice. We had a wonderful stay in Madeira and our children and ourselves loved the swimming pool. The house is very well equiped and we don t need to bring anything from our house. Bed lines and towels are furnished so we could travel light 😊 If we come back to Madeira we will come back there surely.

Spectacular place to share with someone who likes nature! Hospitality is very good!

If you like to a sleep in nature but with a good comfort this is the place to be. Personally I think it’s more romantic than a four star hotel, but of course more simple. It’s warm dry houses, it’s cosy and it has the essentials. There was a tv but only for dvd, didn’t need a tv but one could bring a dvdfilm to watch a favorite film in the evening. We had a rental car, which was essential to go on trips. We were there in January and the area was a bit cold and cloudy so it was nice to go on trips to the east/south for some beautiful walks and a swim.

Great little huts in the mountains. The hut was very cosy and had everything you needed, including a small kitchen. The location is ideal, close to several levadas, Pico Arieiro but close enough to the coast and Funchal. The only downside was the weak/ non-existent Wi-Fi, not really a downside if you want to be offline :)

Betty was a great host. Her responses to my questions before the visit were always speedy and really helpful. The apartment is very clean, well equipped and located in a location with stunning views. Betty gave great recommendations for local walks, which I especially appreciated as a lone traveller who did not hire a car. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place.

The accommodation is well maintained and well equipped. The kitchen offers everything that is needed for everyday life, the view from the terrace in front of the house is stunningly beautiful. On a clear day you can enjoy the morning sun on the second balcony on the bedroom. The apartment is very well located to hike from here to walks in the center of the island. Shops and very good restaurants are around 5 -10 minutes away by car. Betty and Jose were very accommodating and attentive hosts. On a second visit to Madeira, we would immediately stay here again!

The apartment was beautiful. It lies in a valley and it’s perfect to start several trips around the whole island. We loved it and when we’ll come back to Madeira this is our first Adresse.
