Rustic touches remain, but once you check-in you’ll quickly discover you’re “not exactly roughing it.” This is that listing where everything has been thought of. Come enjoy!

The Cottage on the Rock is situated less than 1/2 mile from Downtown Julian. The home is at a high point compared to other homes in the little neighborhood and it's a rather large property. The parking driveway parks 3 cars off-street easily. If your pet will be joining you, please let us know in advance. Thanks so much!
  • Second stay at the Cottage on the Rock and this time it was better than the first. As everyone has said, the place just simply has it all. When I need to get away, this is the spot and it is second to none. Thanks Rich and Tera!

  • Wow! Where do I start? I’m inspired by how beautiful this place was. My boyfriend and I spent quite a bit of time looking at all the cute details of this house. Everything has a purpose and is so perfectly clean and stylish. Very peaceful and safe feeling setting out in nature. Our hosts were so kind and offered help if we had needed any. Very clear instructions on how to check in and out as well. Only hard part was leaving...but we plan to come back one day!

  • So grateful I had the opportunity to sneak away to this paradise. Brought my dog, and enjoyed walking around the neighborhood (trails and parks were closed due to COVID19). The neighbors were super nice and helpful, even recommending areas to walk. I needed a little peace and quiet and this property gave me exactly that. So quiet and comfortable, and plenty of outdoor seating to read a book, bar-b-que, or sit by a bonfire. The property is modern, and super clean! I must’ve missed it in the description, but my favorite part was the heated floor in the bathroom! The location is perfect, so close to everything. Tera and Richard were quick to respond, and very nice! I can honestly say I haven’t had a place I’ve returned to before, since I’m always looking for new adventures, but I’ve already been talking to friends about coming up again. Do yourself a favor, and spend some time here. The wine even tastes better from this property. :)

  • This house was a great experience for me. Perfect place to relax from the city and chill. The place is very clean, very modern. I was surprised! There were also table games that you can play during the stay. Very cozy place with an amazing atmosphere. Can't wait to come back. There are a lot of interesting places around and trails. Good good good!

    Anna2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful stay! Richard's home is pristine - it was perfectly clean and modern/hip from head to toe. We loved the property (picture little children on a nature scavenger hunt just below that great big deck while mom & dad enjoyed coffee in the sunshine) and we loved the home. Perfect size for our family and a great getaway into nature. Location is ideal, it's very very close to town.

    Morgan2020-04-15T00:00:00Z

  • Fantastic place! Its only 10 mins away from any tourist attractions, and down the street from Julian pie. Only problem is the smoke alarm that goes off from steam in the shower since its right above the door on the outside. Other than that it's very cozy.

Getaway to the mountain town of Julian and stay with us at Oak Hill Inn. We have 3 private charming rooms available for rent. Each has a private entrance and private bathroom. Just a 5 min walk from Main St, our inn offers rustic charm with modern comforts. No better location, you'll love the short walk into town without having to worry about finding parking! Close to everything, but far enough to feel secluded. Enjoy the pool during season! We're family owned and operated for over 25 years.
Three individual charming private rooms are available for rent at Oak Hill Inn. This listing is for our patio rooms. Each includes a queen bed, private bathroom, private entrance, dining area in room, patio, flat screen TV with cable, kitchenette, dining ware, coffee maker, and mini refrigerator. Our North and South Patio rooms are in a building separate from the main house. These two rooms now have newly added in-room WiFi. WiFi is also accessible in our craftily decorated common room of the main building. Oak Hill Inn has been family owned and operated for over 25 years. We are Julian locals, unlike other Airbnbs whose owners are investors that live elsewhere. The space is hand built! which makes it unlike anywhere else you've stayed. Visitors love the rustic charm and details in each room. With that in mind, plan your next trip to get away to Julian and take in the beautiful mountain views and smells of fresh air and apple pies. Julian is a great place for a retreat, there is plenty to do: shopping, walking around town, going out to dinner, hiking, wine tasting, brewery hopping, horse backing riding, fishing or enjoy a local show or festivity. There are plenty of locally owned shops and restaurants as well. All prices already include local 8% rental tax.
Oak Hill Inn is conveniently located within the historic small town of Julian, California. A walk to downtown is just 5 minutes from your room (.03 miles). In Julian, there are plenty of restaurants, shops and local entertainment. Apple pie is a must! Take a visit to the many wineries, or check with the host to see if there are any weekend festivals or events going on during your stay! Located just about an hour's drive from San Diego, Julian is a world away. Once a booming gold rush town, Julian escaped boom-town fate because it's climate is perfect for growing apples! Today, Julian is best known for its apple pie, small town appeal, breathtaking mountainscapes, great hiking, shopping, wine tasting and even a few new craft breweries. There's plenty to do, but it's also the perfect place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Stay at Oak Hill Inn for the perfect springboard for your Julian retreat!

We are conveniently located within walking distance of Julian. Cabin is smaller but cozy. Although town is close, it is very private and peaceful on the property. The property is fenced. We are in a very quiet neighborhood. Strict quiet hours & outside recreational hours enforced. We have lived in Julian our whole lives so we can help you find almost anything you need or could want in our area. We look forward to helping you have a wonderful visit to our neck of the woods~ No pets allowed.
Our cabin is close to Julian yet very quiet. We ask that you respect our neighbors with keeping the noise to a minimum and staying within our property boundaries. Unfortunately we do not offer any cooking facilities. There is a small microwave, apartment size refrigerator, coffee pot & a toaster. The upstairs loft is tight but comfortable. There are two twin beds with a night stand & lamp. The steps up to the loft are very steep and open. If you have children they must be carefully supervised and really need one adult upstairs with them especially for sleeping. The bathroom has a shower only, no tub. Again, small area but user friendly. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed & nightstand. The front room has two chairs, sofa type love seat & TV. The heating is propane fireplace. The driveway is steep and looks a bit intimidating at first but really isn't bad. We have two different entrances depending upon weather conditions & personal needs. Our driveway can get a bit tricky in the snow and extreme rains. We gladly can pick you up at a safe location in town (sheriff's substation parking lot) load your items & you into our 4 wheel drive and take you to and from the cabin if needed. We are happy to help accommodate your needs the best that we can. We want you to have the best experience possible at our little cabin and in the town of Julian. It is always good to ask us questions before you book....just in case it isn't what you are looking for....or won't fit your needs. We love Julian and are happy to help recommend other Air BnB hosts if ours doesn't fit. We are a close community so we try hard to look out for one another and also for our guests to enjoy the best stay they possibly can have! NO PETS ALLOWED. Strict Evening Hour Rules
We do have neighbors but far enough apart that it is very private and quiet. Yet, we are close enough that we do have noise restrictions.
  • Stacy was just a wonderful host, she answer all my questions, I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a cozy beautiful cabinet in Julian :)

    Costantine2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing experience at this charming little cabin. Stacy the host went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The cabin was spotless upon arrival. And we thoroughly enjoyed the country feel it has. We look forward to booking it again soon! And we definitely are gonna miss Ruby.

    David2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very blessed experience. Stacey graciously allows you to open up to her about your needs and responds to them in a personal way that isn’t just what a host would do but rather in a way what a friend who cares about you would do. We had the best outdoor experience ( me and my two daughters ages 7 and 5). Stacey took my daughters on club car rides every day, she showed them their property and she let them pick flowers and herbs. She let them play with ruby, the gentle horse. She let them be little kids and always made sure we were ok in the process. We love Julian because it reminds us of Stacey and Randy and know we have a place to return to if we go back.

    Stefanie2020-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed staying in Stacy's cabin and would highly recommend it!

    Kris2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful experience! Stacy was so kind and accommodating. The cabin is only a 10 minute walk from town and we were able to explore all of main street. I would highly recommend this place to anyone but especially if you are looking to tour the town and greater Julian area. We are avid hikers and Stacy was able to provide some local tips for how to explore the wilderness of Julian. We had a blast!

    Kevin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I was visiting Julian to run a marathon. The race ended up getting canceled but I can’t think of a better experience. Stacy’s cabin is clean, comfortable, and cozy. When you check-in get ready to take a load off. The cabin is stocked with snacks and goodies. While the cabin itself is magnificent, the service and friendliness of Stacy is also best in class. Before leaving, Stacy prepared herbal tea and even left a celebratory gift bag before unofficially running the race!!! If this place is ever available book it ASAP. You can thank me, well rather, thank Stacy later.

    Evan2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little cabin, private and quiet. Good value and really helpful host.

    Holley2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Stacy’s log cabin is a MUST stay in Julian. It is an amazing location (within walking distance to downtown), while also giving you a sense of privacy and some amazing views of the valley/mountains. The cabin itself was perfect for my fiancé and I. It was a great size, extremely clean, decor was great, and it had an authentic mountain feel to it. Stacy added some wonderful personal touches as well which was really nice! Ruby (their horse) was also a fun addition to the weekend. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

It’s quick and easy to get to hiking trails at William Heise, Volcan Mountain, and Santa Ysabel East. Super nice host too who responds immediately with any questions.

    Amy2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was awesome! He responded in a timely manner. The place was easy to find, it’s literally right off the main road. The directions were easy to follow. The house was very small but very cute. It’s perfect for a 1-2 day getaway. The fireplace worked great and heated the whole place. The kitchen is equipped with a nice, easy coffee maker but there is no stove/oven. There is a microwave so you may have to get a little creative or enjoy all that amazing Julian food and pie! The house also has string lights all around to set a mood! It was a nice Tim’s!

    Kimberly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Chris's place is the perfect cozy getaway right off the main road. If you find it available for your dates - grab it before its gone!

    Karl2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Chris’ place was amazing. The place was spotless, maybe a 2 minute drive from downtown Julian and very private. 10/10 would recommend. I fell in love with it as soon as I walked in. The fireplace alone kept the whole place warm, but a space heater is available if you like it toastier. My fiancé and I will definitely be back.

    Kristy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my girlfriend loved our 3 day stay here. It's small but comfortable and we loved the stone walls and little gas fireplace. Would definitely recommend if you want a place in Julian and don't need a lot of space.

The idea is simple: If a person visits a natural area and walks in a relaxed way, there are calming, rejuvenating and restorative benefits to be achieved. Studies have documented reduced stress, lower blood sugar, better concentration, diminished pain, improved immunity... Taking in the forest atmosphere has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. Researchers have established a robust body of scientific literature on health benefits of spending time under the canopy of a living forest. Many trees give off organic compounds that support “NK” (natural killer) cells that are part of our immune system's way of fighting cancer. • Rick’s place Into the Woods was so much more than we expected! They provided all you needed. Everything was new, up to date, working and easy to find. The history on the walls was a charming touch. On the property we saw turkeys, blue jays, squirrels, you name it. Not to mention the night sky view. What a great space to relax, unwind, and chill!

  • My son and I decided to go up into the mountains for a storm, we picked a 3 day stay just for this reason. We arrived to the cabin heated, soft music and the spa boiling hot. What stood out is the passion we felt being brought forward from generations that have loved this haven in the mountains. Rick has done a fantastic job with this cabin, not just in the decor but the outdoor terraces, both covered and open high above the main cabin. The older trees and an overall forest feel truly brought out the feeling of being out in nature. Well equipped, clean and spacious.

    Glenn2020-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent time at the treehouse! We loved having the options of the 3 different decks to hang out on & enjoy the views but our favorite was definitely the one right off of the house! The dimmable string lights gave it such a cozy feel. The kitchen is fully stocked so we were easily able to cook some home made meals but also enjoyed visiting the nearby restaurant on the lake. We preferred to sleep in the living room next to the fireplace. Don’t forget to bring firewood!

    Marissa2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • I loved it! The “treehouse” balcony was where my friends and I spent the majority of our time. We had great views of the mountain side as well as the lake. Even though we had neighbors, the home felt secluded and very private because of all of the trees. The spa was the perfect touch also! This is the perfect place for a nice getaway :)

    Bethany2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin with an amazing view! Extra clean and all the comforts you’d expect in your own home. The best part? Sitting on the deck at night and listening to the wind rush through the trees while gazing at stars in a crystal clear sky. Yep, we’ll be back.

    Mike 2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication, great cabin at Lake Cuyamaca. It was nice having a fire, going in the spa, talking small hikes around. Wish we would've had the snow still, but can't control the weather! Free workout with those steps, phew! My 5 year old daughter LOVED every minute of it. Would highly recommend! Thank you!

    Kevin2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Into the Woods was amazing! Great spot away from the city commotion but still close to the little town of Julian which was very convenient. The hosts left little touches around the house, including chocolates and robes. The jacuzzi was great and the treehouse had a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. Amenities were very nice and thoughtful. House was clean and warm during our whole stay! 10/10 would recommend this stay for a romantic couples getaway or a family vacation!

    Laurin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a special place! We loved the deck/Overlook and the movie theater area. The views are amazing and we had fun walking up to the upper observation deck. The main bed is a very firm memory foam mattress. If you prefer a slightly softer bed, you may want to opt for the sofa in the living room (a queen and also memory foam). We arrived just after a snowstorm. We did have to buy $170 snow chains for a rental car Notre to legally drive up Highway 79 to the rental. The only place we were nervous about slipping was on the switchbacks coming up to the cabin. If you visit in the winter months you should be aware of the possible need for snow chains. However, the area is beautiful in the snow! We enjoyed our three nights there very much, and our three days exploring the area. We found Julian to be an overcrowded tourist town. We did enjoy the drive and hike to Three Sisters Falls, and Green Valley Falls. Get off the road and get away from the crowds :) We are a family of four.

We also have a little bit of Disney History located on the property! The Main house was built for and occupied by Disney animator Oillie Johnston, who once had a complete train track through the entire property and was the home for his operating steam engine Locomotive "The Marie E". *The property at times may be shared with other guest's either camping or staying in the main house. **Being an off grid Shed we have had to modify a few everyday amenities in order to accommodate our guest. At night stargaze on the porch while listening to the soothing music of rustling leaves. History of the Grounds: This city escape was carefully selected to be where Cahuilla and Kumeyaay Native American tribes once roamed. The rocks in the outdoor space have grinding holes (mortars) once used for food preparation by the local tribes. The space is ideal for musicians, creative individuals, and meditations. The tranquil atmosphere makes for a grounding experience allowing ones own creativity to flow to the surface. We encourage you to bring your instruments, meditation practices and any art of your choosing. The space feels as though it was designed perfectly to harness ones own creative ambition. The Railroad: The Cahuilla Crossing Railroad was built in 1967. Walt Disney's animator and former owner of the home, Ollie Johnston had this railroad commissioned. Ollie contributed to films such as Pinnochio, Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and the list goes on. Ollie was a train enthusiast and was gifted by Disney parts of the train track that came directly from Disneyland. Water: All water is natural running ground water and sourced from the on site well. The neighbors are awesome. It is a very quiet remote area . We are just a few short miles to Main Street in Julian where you can enjoy some famous Julian pie and do a little shopping. There are many hiking trails to enjoy as well.
  • This place was better than I expected. The shed was very clean and the bed was comfy! We really enjoyed the tea selection and how peaceful and quiet the area was. We woke up to an amazing view and admired the cows & horses nearby. Would def recommend.

  • A great relaxing spot to unwind at. Close enough to town and fun trails. We would definitely stay here again.

    Shelby2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Deer Shed was a fun place to stay. It was great opening the entire front window/wall to enjoy the scenery. We came on a very cold and wet day and the Shed kept us comfortable and cozy.

    Raul2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The space was quiet cozy and perfect for 2 people. The garage door opening was by far the best part of the entire stay as it offers a unique experience for a morning in bed view of the land. The room was in very clean condition and I felt comfortable in it the entire stay. Definitely recommend

    Gabriel2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • You definitely feel like you are getting away from it all. Theres a beautiful view from the shed and got to see some deer and coyotes and could hear Turkeys off in the distance. Exploring the property a plus since my wife went out to the area to hike and explore. Super close to the Main st and the local shops and restaurants. The shed is great and lots of nice extras that they include. Had everything you would need for a long stay. We only stayed one night but would like to go back and stay longer.

    Jorge2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Deer Shed is one of the coziest getaways one could ask for! We arrived after dark in the chilly rain, but the check in instructions made it easy to find the place and make our way inside where it was nice and warm in a matter of minutes with the space heater. The location is ideal, just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Julian, and not too far from some amazing hikes. This was the perfect place to rest our tired bodies after a day of outdoor adventuring. The mini kitchen had all the essentials to make a simple pasta dinner and delicious breakfast hash. Watching the morning fog dissipate was amazing to watch from the incredibly comfortable bed. We read a few reviews before that raised concerns about privacy, but it seems that these have been addressed as there were curtains on all the windows. Sparkly clean, cozy beyond belief, and delightfully remote, this is the perfect weekend getaway destination!

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I LOVED staying here. Sitting on the bar stools with the sliding door open was absolutely wonderful! The shed is just a quick drive to either Julian or Wynola! (we personally like Wynola more!) Highly recommend!

  • The deer shed was an absolute pleasure to stay at. Amazing star gazing at night, sparkling clean and cozy cabin, super quiet and relaxing area, and convenient to Julian (which has wonderful apple pie). We loved the giant garage-door-like window that opened up the cabin to the outdoors. The porta potty is close by and very well maintained, and the outdoor shower was quite refreshing!

Walking distance to Calico Cidery and half a mile from Jeremy's Restaurant. Beautiful afternoon walks on access road or road on opposite side of 79 full of apple trees. Had a great time!

  • such a great weekend getaway!

    Molly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our visit, we booked same day and she was welcoming and had the house ready for us same day. The house is homey, comfortable, clean, newly redone, and we felt very relaxed and at home in it. Star gazing before we went to bed and waking up to the sound of roosters and cows was just great! No complaints at all! Thanks Kamisha!

  • One of my top 2 all time favorite Airbnbs. If you want to get a feel of the “old” way of living in the area by staying in an updated, charming and well thought out home (on a beautiful, natural and large plot of land) this is your place. Centrally located and easy to find. Wonderful amenities and special touches. Loved the comfortable bed and wonderful claw foot bath/shower. Can’t wait to go back.

    Vicki2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and cozy. Great location for tourists.

    Hovo2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space. Kamisha takes pride in opening up her home to newcomers by offering the most special touches. It feels like a home away from home. The location itself was prime considering it was neatly in the middle between Julian and Ramona. Santa Ysabel has its own fair share of special sites and we were happy to have experienced it all. It’s safe to say we’ll be back again!

    Stephanie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This adorable little farmhouse is the perfect getaway. Kamisha's place is absolutely charming and the location is perfect. You have the Calico Cidery just north down the road and if you keep going you'll reach the Wynola Pizza house that has local live music on Thursdays. Then just opposite, south down 79 (maybe 3 minutes!) you run into Julian, which is a lovely little town, I really enjoyed Julian Beer Co. "Regulars Wanted" is a great cafe with wifi to get some work done. After a day of exploring it was always nice to come back to a warm farmhouse that had just about everything I needed. I highly recommend this place and hope to be back. Thanks Kamisha!

We are located 1 mile from Main street Julian in the Whispering Pines neighborhood. The property is 3.5 acres with 4 cabins. There are neighbors and houses and cars on the road below the property so you will hear and see others. But the trees, mountain views, the stars and the wildlife (turkey, deer...) as well as the beautiful cabins make this location really special.
  • We absolutely loved it! Unit was more spacious and charming than expected, and Renee was a delight to chat with and get to know. We can’t wait to come back!

  • Excellent location outside from Julian’s downtown crowd. Very clean and cozy, Ilana’s place is a nice retreat for a small family. You just want to acknowledge that you can do only basic cooking with the small hot plate available in the kitchenette. We enjoyed a lot the place and our week end. Thank you Ilana !

    Eva2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a peaceful and relaxing weekend at Ilana's cabin! Absolutely recommended

    Alberto2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ilana was great. She answer really fast, allow us to check in before 3pm and stay more time the last day. The place has a beautiful view, peace and calm. It has everything to enjoy: table outside to enjoy the landscape, fire pit, etc. One of the afternoon we saw a deer in front of the house :-) You fell that you are in Julian, not in a generic place. We really enjoyed our weekend there. and only 5 min driving to the town.

This quaint cabin is near the heart of historic Julian, CA. A private, fenced property, this is the perfect place for a couple's getaway, a nice family vacation or even just a group of friends looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. A fenced back yard is perfect for a dog, while the enormous front deck allows for a great hang out spot and night time star gazing.
It has that country feel and immediately relaxes you. The deck is enormous and makes for a great outdoor space. A charcoal grill is provided. The cabin is a studio layout with a queen bed and queen sofa bed. There is a pot belly stove propane fireplace for heat.
Forested neighborhood in the mountains is quiet, lots of birds, turkeys, deer.
  • Quick responses which made the communication easy. Cute house with a great patio. Walked in and music was playing, great hospitality. It was a lovely stay in Julian.

Great little cabin with panoramic views. Nestled in the mountains between Julian and Palomar. Fully remodeled light and bright . No kitchen, but walking distance to Josie’s Hideout Saloon
Josie’s Hideout Saloon is just down the road
  • Cozy cabin, updated, great views beautiful sunrises and overall a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle.

    Gia2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet little cabin with a wonderful view. If you are a simple person, this place has everything you need for a relaxing weekend getaway. The little wood burner offered plenty of heat and I recommend bringing some extra wood. Plenty of kindling laying around. Plenty of hiking available within a 10-20 minute drive. The hideout saloon is still open for takeout with certain hours. Julian is not far away and I recommend getting a burger from Colts (takeout only) and of course a slice of apple pie from any of the bake shops. Good breakfast spot in julian called Regulars Wanted. Would certainly love to come back here when all the shops and activities open back up.

My place is located in the historic town of Julian, California, close to apple pie, wine tasting, craft beer and gold mine tours. T's is just 2 miles east of town, in the quiet neighborhood of Whispering Pines. Built in 1928, it is a cozy, rustic mountain cabin perfect for relaxing and watching the wildlife including deer, wild turkeys and a wide variety of birds. With personal touches that make it feel like you are staying at a friend's place, it's perfect for couples and solo adventurers.
This cabin was built in 1928 as a YMCA meeting hall, and was originally just 1 room with an outhouse! The beautiful wood floors and windows are original and add a rustic feel to this comfortable space. *Bedroom: is actually an alcove, there is no door (that's the next project). It has a comfy queen size bed and small closet. *Kitchen: is fully stocked with pantry items, snacks and bevies. I do my best to keep juice, yogurts and fruit available for your breakfast. There is a fridge, stove/oven, coffee maker and microwave. *Bathroom: recently remodeled with river rock flooring, hammered copper sink, rustic barn stall shower and Minnesota barn wood vanity. Plenty of towels and toiletries are provided for you. *Dining area: with seating for 4 at an antique ice cream parlor table handed down from my Auntie Edna. *Fireplace: freestanding, very romantic! (Duraflame type logs only) And, T's Place is pet friendly! Fur babies love the cabin but it is important to note that they may not be left alone at, or inside, the cabin. Even in their crate. This cabin is best situated for 2 adults. However, exceptions are made, and a child size cot or pack and play are available upon request. Feel free to contact me before booking. Nightly rates and minimum stays may be increased on Holiday Weekends and discounts are offered to repeat guests. Be sure to contact me with any special requests or questions before booking. I'm looking forward to sharing my Happy Place with you! T.
Whispering Pines is a quiet, family neighborhood that is great for long walks and bird and wildlife watching. Sit on the deck and listen to the breeze in the pines and you'll see how the neighborhood got its name. It is a special area, I grew up in the house next door!
  • Teresa’s place was amazing. We could not have asked for a better experience. The house had everything we could ask for and that shower was amazing. The new additions make the place even better. • This was our second time staying here and it was just as amazing, if not better! We’ll definitely be back again :)

    Madalyn2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our 5th trip to Julian and our 1st stay at Leigh’s place- and we are very thankful to Leigh for this wonderful experience! It is a very genuine place- a truly perfect fit for someone who wants to explore Julian and its beautiful surroundings, but also for someone who enjoys spending time staying at one place and just relaxing. The property itself is a very interesting experience, with plenty of things to explore- you can walk around, hike to Julian, interact with horses (Duster is so lovely!), observe so many birds (hummingbirds, wild turkeys, woodpeckers, owls, hawks, even parrots)! And you get to meet Curly the Emu, who is very curious, friendly and totally adorable! The cottage is comfortable and stylish, with many personal touches, very clean, it has everything you may need or think about (plush king bed, softest towels, fridge, ac unit, shower with good water pressure, even snacks:). The yard is so beautiful, with flowers, sitting place, hammock- and nature around. We will be back very soon!

    Ksenia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding, beautiful getaway. Highly recommended. If your looking to get away from the city to experience nature and peacefulness this is the place.

    Joshua2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Magical place! We loved the cozy cottage, the horses and emus, and the short and scenic walk into town. The cottage has a coffee machine with plenty of tea/coffee, a fridge, snacks, a hotplate, and a small and clean bathroom. Large bed. No TV, but very good WiFi for your devices. Heater/AC unit. Wonderful outdoor seating. The oak trees give it a sense of privacy. We hope to be back!

A peaceful escape! Modern but simply rustic cabin on secluded private 8 acre hilltop. 2 bedrooms and loft accommodates eight people comfortably. Panoramic views of the countryside. Certain seasons deer and wild turkey may wander by! About 1 mile to historic town of Julian, CA. Many local attractions - , Hiking Trails, Wineries, Wolf sanctuary, and more. There is even a Camel Ranch about 20 minutes from Julian. Palomar Mountain Observatory is an interesting field trip.
The 8% county tax is included in your nightly rental rate. Our nightly rate is for up to and including 4 guests, for more guests, we charge $12 per guest, per night. For your enjoyment we have TV ( no cable, no WiFi--- but once you get here you won't miss it!) Blu-Ray video player, with many assorted videos, DVD's, movies, TV shows, comedies, dramas, mysteries, children's movies, games, puzzles, books. Because we are out in country and have a deep well, we have just installed an excellent Hague water filter. For more relaxation.....( no need to call an Uber) just walk 1/2 mile down the road to Menghini and Volcan Mountain Wineries!
My father purchased these 8 acres in the early 1960's from award winning author Scott O'Dell who wrote Island of the Blue Dolphins, and my father built our cabin. Our family, Dad, Mom, Johnny, and me, planted nearly all of the trees you see on our hilltop. We have many happy memories here and we want you to create some of your own! We call our hilltop "Flat Top" because it is identified on geodetic survey maps. ( See photo of geodetic map and "Flat Top" marker that sits on top of our hill in my photo gallery.) We are located 1.6 mile from historic town of Julian, 1/2 mile from Menghini and Volcan Mountain Wineries, an easy walk, and about a mile from Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve, for hiking!
  • Mary's place was absolutely idyllic - perfect for a weekend getaway. It completely exceeded our expectations. The home was spacious, beautiful, clean, secluded and surrounded by acres of stunning natural beauty. We would highly recommend this place, and we cannot wait to return!

    Alexa2020-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space on top of hill overlooking rolling mountains. Sunsets were incredible and the silence a gift. The house itself was extremely thoughtfully put together and made things extremely comfortable. Highly recommend!

    Jon And Jan2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I stayed at Mary’s cabin for a weekend getaway to take in the fresh air, catch some fish, and eat lots of pie. We were so impressed with how clean and organized the cabin was and really appreciated the notebook where she left instructions on where to find things in the cabin. The notebook also included lots of information on things to do in Julian and in the surrounding areas. The entire cabin was clean, and the beds were comfortable - especially the pillows! The outside patio decks were great for watching the sunset and taking in the fresh air. The kitchen had everything we needed and were happy to see a toaster oven was available to use. Our favorite part about the cabin was the huge windows that allow for panoramic views of the many pine tress she has on her property. My family and I will definitely consider staying at Mary’s place again if it is available on our next trip to Julian.

    Nicolette2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is such a sweetheart and made renting this cabin more than easy and enjoyable! Mary and John are wonderful people with a gorgeous, more than welcoming vacation home. I would absolutely rent this cabin again!

    Amanda2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house on Flat Top Mountain was a great place for our girls get away weekend. Mary is a terrific host and had the house ready and welcoming for our arrival. The views from the house are beautiful and the beds are comfy. The house was clean and the kitchen well stocked for our use. There is no WiFi but it was not missed. We got good cell signals and Mary provides a good selection of books and DVDs if you feel the need. We enjoyed relaxing so much that we didn’t even use the TV. An added bonus is that the town of Julian and the Julian Pie Company with its delicious pies and apple cider donuts is just a short drive or a good walk away. We had a terrific time at Mary’s house on Flat Top Mountain.

    Lori2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful and so close to town while still being private and surrounded by beautiful trees. One bathroom which may be tricky if you plan to have a lot of people staying there, but it worked fine for us.

Away from the daily hustle and bustle, this historical California Ranch style house has lots of character, and is nearly off the grid. A mix of the original 1940's Adobe home, and an updated and beautiful interior, adds a unique touch to this peaceful ranch house. The unheated pool provides an escape from the summer heat, and the wood fireplace is perfect for the cold winter nights. Beautiful views from every room, and a breathtaking display of stars at night. We highly recommend a 2 night stay.

We are about 1 hour's drive from the city of Temecula, at the foot of the mountains. Elevation is about 4000 feet, even though the area appears to be at a lower elevation. Temecula is the perfect place to do wine tours and balloon rides. A 15 minute drive from the house, will take you to the small town of Santa Ysabel. Don's Market, in Santa Ysabel, is the closest market to our property, but it has almost anything you could need for a couple days away, including meat, beer and wine, ice and ice cream! If u don't feel like cooking and just want an average country meal, visit the Apple Country restaurant next to the Julian Apple Pie company or any of the other restaurants in the area. We are 25 minutes from Julian, a small historic town, priding themselves with the best apple pie in the region. Make sure to do a buggy ride, and visit the Julian Pie Company when out there! There are a number of restaurants, but be prepared for an early dinner since they close early in the evening. There are several little shops to browse through, and a great second hand bookstore; my favorite place to visit! When our kids were little, we found boxes of books dating back to when we were kids. It was a real treat to pass that on to our toddlers. Borrego Springs, is about a 25 minute drive down-hill, with easy access to the Anza Borrego Desert. This is the perfect place for a day trip during the cooler months. Spring time is the absolute best time to visit, when all the wild flowers are out in splendor. Borrego Springs has a few restaurants, but we can recommend the Coyote Grill for a nice dinner out!
  • Anna was a great host. She communicated right up through departure, even warning us about potential bad weather. The house was super clean, big bedrooms, great character. We went to Anza Borrego Park one day (20 min) and Julian (25 min) the next. The property is big and has a lot of out buildings, and I imagine it would be fun to stay with a group and rent out the guest house also. There is a really cute little "bunk bed" room off the kitchen that was likely a supply room at one time but would now be a great room for kids to sleep in. Lots of labels everywhere, which I appreciate, and although we didn't cook, it had everything you needed should you so desire. Both an eat-in kitchen and a large dining room and the living room is huge. We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor space due to the cold weather, however, it was lovely to look at through the large windows. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Jennifer2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's place was beautiful & clean. We enjoyed a fun hike up to Eagle Rocks while staying there. The bed was very comfortable & we especially enjoyed the pizza oven. The house has historical rich feel while being warm and comfortable. We would love to come back in the summer to play in the pool.

    Parvati2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a beautiful and unique house. The wonderful patio and pool area are a great place to just sit outside and relax. There’s plenty of hiking around if you want to go out and get active. The drive to julian wasn’t bad so it wasn’t a big deal if we needed to get something or just wanted to go out. The only downside was I didn’t get service with my provider, however my guest that had Verizon was able to have service. They provided a hotspot so I was still able to use my phone at the house, just not when I was on the patio. Overall I would definitely stay again.

    Jessica2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • excellent retreat for us, had a wonderful time at the Ranch. this is the second time we stay here and we are already planning for another visit this year.

    Marcos2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Anna’s place was beautiful! She is very descriptive in revealing the location and communicating the best way to navigate to the property and prepare for your stay. We visited during the winter, so we did not get to enjoy the beautiful outdoor space but it looked very inviting. It was exactly as she describes in her listing. The home is well stocked with everything you could possibly need and then some! We did have cell service (Verizon) while there, but not everywhere in the surrounding area. Anna was always quick to respond with any questions we had. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to this area!

    Treva2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home with an amazing hostess! Even though she was out of town at the time she still stayed up (with the time difference) to make sure we got in safely.

    Kaira2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This home has it all! Beautiful décor, games, movies, lots of amenities! Whether you want to take a drive into Julian for some apple pie, drive down to Borrego to check out the desert sculptures or enjoy some hiking right in your backyard.... this is the place to stay!

    Annamarie2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated home and outstanding communication from the host. Great location and lots of thoughtful touches made us feel at home. The only thing that I didn’t like was that the bathroom requires you to go through one of the bedrooms. If you are a family, it’s probably not a big deal, but we stayed with another couple, so that affected their privacy. Other than that we loved our stay here.

We loved the property, the trailer (and all of its details and tasty offerings), and everything about our stay. The kids bunks were made up so sweetly with treats, books, and activities. They felt at home instantly and didn't want to leave. Interacting with the horse so much will always be a wonderful memory for them. My younger daughter asks me daily "are we going to the house on wheels or home?" and they both say they can't wait to go back. You will have to come check out this place yourself to see what extra magic the host creates for you on your stay. She has a special touch.

  • Very comfortable stay. Everything as described. Surrounded by really nice scenery.

  • We loved our stay- my two year old really enjoyed feeding carrots to Dakota the horse, running around the open space, and playing with the kid's toys! We loved the views and the fire pit at night. Great privacy, comfortable and surprisingly spacious RVs. Hosts were very attentive if we needed anything and really nice. Will definitely return!

  • Amazing location for a hiking trip to Anza-Borrego state park and visits to the local wineries. Beautiful view of the sunset over the hills! RV was clean and comfortable. We had a few mechanical difficulties with the RV (heat/hot water) but Deborah and Tim were very quick to respond and help us out.

We spent over a year lovingly renovating and remodeling this vintage fire lookout cabin into a luxury vacation rental with a spacious Hot Springs spa. The two-bedroom, one-bath cabin is just over a mile from the historic town of Julian, yet it’s a private sanctuary with panoramic forest and Volcan Mountain Preserve views. The Enchanted Lookout is beautifully cleaned and sanitized after each stay.
THE STORY OF OUR CABIN The Julian Chamber of Commerce describes the town like this: “Julian, a state Historical District, is a former gold mining village nestled in the mountain forest. Julian is San Diego County’s year-round romantic retreat.” My children and I moved to San Diego five years ago, and one day my young daughter Samantha and I visited Julian. We were enamored by a sense of stepping back in time, and by the pristine beauty of the surrounding mountains and forests. We stopped by the Chamber of Commerce and noticed a tourism review of Julian written in 1870. Mary Morse, a schoolteacher from New England had arrived by horse and buggy and wrote: “After passing a ravine and ascending a sharp and rocky hill, the city of Julian in all its glory burst upon us. The sun was just setting and shown with that golden light so peculiar to California. I could have shouted with joy at the very sight. The pines and oaks were a magic green and every cabin and shanty nestled amongst them had a strangely enchanted look.” Samantha and I could not have described how we felt about Julian better, though nearly a century and a half had passed since those words were written. Later that day as we strolled past picturesque historic buildings and then down a quaint lane, my daughter turned to me and said, “Mom, will you always keep a cottage in Julian?” After three years of searching, we finally found the right property. It's situated in a quiet forested neighborhood just over a mile from town. It sits at the end of a long drive on its own hillside facing Volcan Mountain. It's surrounded by old-growth pine, manzanita and several types of oak, so it has a wonderful sense of solitude and privacy. Historically built as a lookout site for volunteer firemen, the cabin overlooks a breathtaking vista of forests and mountains. The cabin itself was in sad shape, but still captured the incredible charm and quality with its high-beamed knotty pine ceiling and picture windows in every room. It took a full year of hard work extensively renovating and remodeling, including adding a new energy-efficient roof 50-year roof, rain gutters, foundation work, beautiful new decks, gutting and total renovation inside, but the end result was worth all the effort. Every time we return to our cabin, we are comforted once again by a feeling of traveling back in time to a simpler era. The songs of mountain birds and breezes rippling through majestic trees fill our ears. The beauty of the forest and Volcan Mountain amaze us. It seemed natural to name our cottage “The Enchanted Lookout." THE ENCHANTED LOOKOUT: We recreated the home so that it looks like the historic home it is, yet contains every modern comfort and convenience. Our two-bedroom one bath 600 square foot cabin feels larger than it is because of high ceilings, large picture windows, and expansive views. WE DESIGNED THE SPACE TO BE SAFE FOR THOSE WITH ALLERGIES OR CHEMICAL SENSITIVITIES: The new highest quality forced air heat and cooling system contains a whole-house air purification system with HEPA filtration for the cleanest possible air. It also uses the newest chlorine-free R-410A refrigerant system that is ozone-friendly and non-toxic. We installed new 3/4 inch thick solid oak flooring so dust mites or other allergens found in the carpet will not irritate our guests. HIGH-END APPLIANCES AND OTHER DETAILS: 1. A new Samsung range and convection oven with hood and counter-top microwave 2. A Bosch dishwasher makes doing dishes easy. 3. A retro red designer SMEG refrigerator 4. The kitchen is well-equipped with new cooking ware, blender, crockpot, electric teapot, and coffee maker. You’ll also find some rare antique utensils. Basic condiments, spices, and coffee are included. Each group also receives a little gift of wine and chocolate (red or white, dark or milk chocolate). 4. A Jotul Norwegian wood-burning stove decorates the living room if one wants to watch the flames dance and reflect off our new 3/4 ” solid oak floors, or push a button for forced air cooling/heat. Please enjoy our collection of vintage records! 5. A new apple-red LG brand stack-able washer and dryer is concealed behind sliding doors for in-house laundry convenience. 6. A gorgeous slipper-style porcelain tub looks like an antique but it’s brand new and includes a convertible tub/standing shower feature. 7. High-end mattresses and luxurious bedding invite sweet dreams. We have a California King pillow top mattress in one bedroom, and a full-sized memory foam mattress in the second bedroom. Both mattresses have natural organic latex toppers for protection from allergens. Also, all pillows use allergen blocking covers. Sometimes people want to bring up to six people, so in the living room, we added a beautiful leather sofa that pulls out to a queen bed with an upgraded jell memory-foam mattress. Please note the full-size bed sleeps children or a smaller adult only. 8. A luscious five-person Hot Springs Spa and sleek Saber grill wait to be savored on one of our large decks overlooking exquisite forest and mountain scenery. 9. High-speed internet lets us stay connected, and wall-mounted smart TV in one bedroom and DVD player and movies in the other. 10. Last but not least, we filled the now beautiful space with art, classic books and antiques, many of which we had discovered and restored ourselves. A LITTLE HISTORY AND THE THE LAND: Julian was founded in 1869 when a local rancher and former slave named Fred Coleman discovered gold. For thousands of years before that, the Volcan mountains, the area that is now Julian, and portions of the desert below were heavily populated by Native Americans, and evidence of their occupation is everywhere. On hikes in the Volcan Mountains, we have seen ancient and massive oaks sheltering boulders pitted all over the surface with myriad large mortars (bowl-shaped holes in the stone once used by Native Americans to grind acorns and other seeds into a meal). The cabin overlooks the dividing line of where the high forest becomes the high desert. It’s almost a straight line down the face of Pechacho Peak (The highest peak in the Volcan Mountains)… to the left is forest, to the right is desert. Views from The Enchanted Lookout are of forest and mountain but walk up the road a block and you'll see a fantastic view of the Anza Borrego Desert. As a former student of Anthropology and Archaeology at UCLA, I was fascinated by what this geographic layout represents: Indigenous people all over the world considered geographic boundary areas, where different elements met, (freshwater/saltwater, mountain/desert, etc.,) to be powerful places of healing, transformation, and restoration. They were thought to be important places to make decisions or guide life choices, and Native American vision quests were often held in such places.
The Enchanted Lookout is only one and a half miles from the historic and bustling town of Julian, located in the quiet forested neighborhood of Whispering Pines, yet in in own secluded location. Enjoy our Daffodils & Lilacs in the spring, fall colors and sometimes a beautiful winter snow storm. WILDLIFE: Wild animals abound in the area. Besides the wonderful bird life we often see deer, raccoons and other wild creatures. PROXIMITY TO ATTRACTIONS: Walk or take very short drive to town with its restaurants, shopping, gold mine and other historic tours and museums, and just an all-around fun town. WINERIES: Julian and the surrounding areas have become a mecca for the creation of excellent wines, cider, craft beer breweries, and even mead! Walk or take a short drive to a world-class tasting of these beverages. The Nickel Beer Company, a craft beer brewery, is an easy walk from the cabin. Menghini Winery and Volcan Mountain Wineries are just 2 1/2 miles from the house. There are also several wine tasting venues in town. My favorite restaurant is Jeremy's on the Hill. It's gourmet, and the food is just great. The Enchanted lookout is about an hour's drive from the great city of San Diego, with its culture, nightlife, beautiful beaches, museums, The San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, Legoland, and SeaWorld. HIKING TRAILS: Walk or take a short drive to stunning hiking trails of the Volcan Mountain Preserve. Others nearby located Heise State Park, Cuyamaca State Park, the surround Cleveland National Forest, and the Anza Borrego desert below. Fish for Bass, Trout and even Sturgeon at nearby Lake Cuyamaca. And don't forget apple picking in the fall or snow sledding in winter. Jess Martin Park is minutes away and with it's baseball field, playground, barbecue pits and picnic tables. Drive down nearby Banner Grade to the Anza Borrego desert below for beauty and natural mineral hot springs.
  • Quaint little spot right outside of Julian. Great views. Very relaxing. Great for a couples getaway.

  • Tamara’s cabin was adorable. It was peaceful, cozy, and clean. We loved the view of the mountains and the large front yard. The shaded deck was perfect for our morning yoga practice. There were a few concerns after checking in. Tamara was responsive and went over and above to help us. We had a great stay and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Robyn2020-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed here for our anniversary and had an amazing, relaxing time. The big windows made us feel close to nature, which was such a great change of pace. Tamara’s place is exactly as advertised and I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • We had such a wonderful week at this amazing cabin. We wanted to get away from the city for my birthday so chose this beautiful cabin in this gorgeous location nestled in the trees. Everything was exactly as described. Check in was super easy as they have keyless entry on the front door. We brought lots of food and cooked all of our meals. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed from seasonings to pots/pans, coffee maker, electric kettle, tons of cooking utensils, toaster, microwave and brand new large stove/oven. There is even a gas grill outside! She had lots of towels and blankets stocked. The central heating worked like a charm, we were so comfortable the entire trip. The cabin is also stocked with lots of games, books and 2 TVs. The neighborhood is quiet and we took long walks several times a day in the fresh mountain air. We enjoyed the jacuzzi every day on the nice deck overlooking the mountains. The cabin is just minutes from the main part of town that has grocery stores, restaurants, and most importantly the Julian Pie shop! We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended our stay. We will definitely be back! Thank you So much for the hospitality and the quick responses to our inquires during our stay!

    Sarah2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is pure heaven! Clean, gorgeous, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed and more for a relaxing weekend away. The jacuzzi worked great, the kitchen had all the utensils you would need to cook anything (and we did A LOT of cooking) and having a dishwasher was nice and unexpected. Plenty of towels, which came in handy since we were in and out of the jacuzzi a lot. I think the sweetest surprise was a record player with a collection of classic records that we enjoyed playing throughout the day. Everything was perfect we can’t wait to return.

The house is located just two miles outside of Julian. The house is on a hillside which has an amazing view. You can see the edge of Julian, all the way into Anza Borrego and on clear days the Salton Sea is visible from the deck. The patio is a great place to sit, sip your locally acquired adult beverage of choice and enjoy the view. Come enjoy Julian, grab a slice of apple pie and sit back and enjoy the slower side of life.
The space available for rent is attached to the main house. This space is the downstairs to the main house but is completely self contained. You'll have your own private entrance, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room and a private patio that has an amazing view. The morning sunrise is something worth setting your alarm clocks for, even if it is the weekend. Though the view is facing east the sunset is worth sticking around for too. The desert view becomes alive with colors skating across the sky. We recently remodeled the entire space top to bottom. We are proud of the finished product and we ask you to keep it looking as good as it did when you arrived outside of the normal cleaning. The interior is mostly all white, with lots of nature light that comes in through the windows and sliding glass doors. The space is decorated with a mix of modern and bohemian. We made an effort to bring some of nature inside in the form of real plants so it can be enjoyed comfortably from within. The place is clean and quiet, a great place to get away and relax. Getting there: We are just over two miles from the heart of Julian. The last half mile is a gravel road and depending on how much rain and snow we have recently had can be a little bumpy . If there is snow in the forecast chains are required to get in and out of the property. Once you are here: There is parking for two cars. Parking is on the side of the garage in the flat gravel area. There are two paths you can take to get the entrance. One is follow the lit gravel path on the backside of the garage to the sidewalk along the side of the house. Two is to walk between the garage and the main house in the breeze way, through the storm door and down the stairs to the sidewalk along the side of the house. Once you're on the sidewalk walk till you hit the private patio and the entrance is through the sliding glass doors (key in lock box) via the patio. Inside the space: Living room: Walk in through the sliding glass door into the living room area. There you find a couch smart TV (there is also a google chromecast attached to stream from your device). There is no antenna, Satellite or cable at the house everything is streamed via wifi. Kitchen: The kitchen is attached to the living room area. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need for cooking. There is a countertop oven, cooktop, mini fridge, coffee maker, stainless steel sink, pots and pan, dinnerware and utensils. Salt and pepper, olive oil and coffee will be supplied. Bedroom: The bedroom has an oversized closet with shelves that is available for use. A queen sized bed sit in the middle of the room with night stands at either side. A modern chair sit in the corner of the room. Bathroom: Walking into the bathroom there is a vanity with a mirror over the sink. There is a shower, tub combo which will be stocked with shampoo, conditioner and soap. Clean towels will be in the bathroom either hung up or on the shelf. Towels and sheets are washed and disinfected with Clorox after each guest. Patio: You'll have your own private patio to be able to sit out on and enjoy the view. With very few neighbors around you'll have a almost 100% unobstructed view. FYI: You have your own central heat, A/C unit the thermostat located on the wall. We ask that you be conservative with your usage of heat and A/C by not leaving doors or windows open while either of these are running and lowering their usage while you're out. There is no smoking or parties on the premises. Over night stays are limited to the two people on the reservation. We ask if you have guests that stop by for a visit please give us a notice prior to their arrival. All guest must be at least 24 years in age. No kids or pets are allowed. This space has had a complete remodel and we ask that you respect the home and environment, leaving it how you found it. Verizon and At&t have good cell coverage here but other carriers can be spotty in their coverage but a work around for this is connecting to the wifi. Weather: The weather here can change drastically from day to night. Come prepared for all weather variations including high winds. The main house: There are two adults and a baby that live in the main house. More than likely won't see or hear you unless we cross paths getting in or out of our vehicles or our assistance is needed. We keep the house quiet and there is sound proofing between the two floors.
Come to Julian grab a slice of apple pie. Go for a hike to work it off and in the evening check out the wineries, breweries.
  • The view was incredible, the space super comfortable. Isaiah was an attentive host who took the time to give me tips to deal with the snow since it was a first time for us. Highly recommend!

  • Becky’s place is a hidden gem. Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, with everything you need taken care of. Becky (and Sadie!) are outstanding hosts- we will be back ASAP.

  • A very relaxing experience in a very cute and clean environment. Will be staying here again soon!

    Bryce2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay at Becky's extremely cozy, woodsy cabin. Comes with your own private valley and fire pit! It is a tiny-home, but has plenty of character and comfort. It is super-clean and is a well thought-out space. Becky is a lovely, knowledgeable host, responded quickly to our questions and keeps the cabin stocked with everything you need. There is ample room outside to spread out near the fire pit, outdoor table and chairs. The space is very private with some boulders out front which we sunbathed on. Loved our short stay and would be happy to return soon! Thank you Becky!

    Tracy2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great view and location. The house was well equipped and very clean. We really enjoyed the entire experience.

    Celeste2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beckys cabin is perfect. It was my first time staying in a tiny house and I loved the novelty. There’s plenty of toiletries you might not see at other b&bs like contact solution, hairspray, toothpaste. She also put some snacks and water for us to enjoy during our stay. Becky was super nice and gave us a lot of advice for Ramona. We went for a wedding and spent 2 nights at her cabin. Only advice is to check in during daylight. It’s hard to find the property at night and it can be quite dark. We also had to large suitcases so it was tight inside the cabin; I recommend using backpacks instead. There aren’t any outlets in the bed/loft area so if you need tour phone by your bedside bring longer chargers. Also the hot water is very limited so if you need to take a longer shower plan ahead.

    Emily2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had so much fun staying here! The view is so gorgeous and the house is adorable. Both my husband and I loved it. Becky also gave great recommendations for things to do locally. Would highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again!

  • This was our second time staying here and like our first time it was perfect! We felt at home immediately. The location is the perfect distance to town and it's so easy to come and go. The room was clean and cozy and the bed is like sleeping on a cloud. Magda checked us in this round and she was so awesome, made us feel like old friends. We can't wait to return!

Come stay at the Dome Asylum hippie homestead. The Dome Asylum is a geodesic dome built in 1986. It’s natural landscaping, beautiful cacti, and remote location make it stand out, not just as a place to stay, but a place to retreat. In addition to the fruit trees and aquaponic garden, the property features several cactus gardens, a meditation trail, and a natural pool/hot tub. The Dome Asylum is convenient to local hiking, Ramona wineries and historic Julian.
Hexayurt glamping at the Dome Asylum Hippie Homestead. Our yurt features a queen size bed and battery powered lighting. Experience nature up close and personal by sleeping outdoors! There is a full bath a short walk away in our outdoor bath house. Spend some time meditating by the pool or snorkel with the fish. Heads up! The door to the yurt is low and measures approximately 46". Once inside, you'll have plenty of headroom and 116 sq feet of space.
  • A wonderful unique space & great if you are looking for time to connect with nature.

    Haley2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little place in Ramona! It's very cozy inside the yurt, close to town, wineries, hiking, and the property itself is super fun, especially if you are an animal lover! It was the perfect weekend getaway and Dawn is the greatest hostess! Hope to be back soon!

    Carl2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable bed in rural country-like town sleeping in a yurt is a unique experience. Dawn greeted me, explained everything and made my stay relaxing and pleasant. A 5-star host and location (better than the urban-house -on-active street).

    Sam2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Needed a little getaway and came across dawns yurt. It was just what I was looking for! So cute and fun, will definitely be back!

    Mercades2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Dawns space was amazing, incredible art sculptures and the fire feature was easily the coolest part of the night. Lots of great star gazing, easy check in and amazing hosts who respected our privacy but were available as soon as we needed them.

    Irving2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dawn was a great hostess and everything was perfect down to the last detail. I really enjoyed every minute of my stay and it was a perfect place to relax and unwind. I highly recommend it. 5 stars!!

    Crystal2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very unique and cool spot to visit!

    Grant2019-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in the Yurt for three nights and it was a very wonderful experience! It was cute, comfortable, and cozy. I loved the way that Dawn furnished the Yurt. Her place also had a neat little cactus garden, a pool with goldfish, and some wonderful cabanas to relax under. There were also two friendly dogs to keep me company. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area.

  • Wonderful clean cabin and great location close to town. Really enjoyed the jacuzzi and other amenities. Saw a Bobcat one of the mornings, which was exciting!

    Daniel2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great little property, well managed, and close to town (while still offering privacy). We were wondering how our trip would be, right in the middle of COVID-19 social distancing efforts, but owner/manager (Rick) was careful and meticulous. Everything was spotless and clean. They even change the hot tub water between every guest visit. Although it rained non-stop during our trip (which was OK because we wanted privacy and seclusion anyway), we had a great time. We brought our own food and cooked our own meals. The kitchen appliances and cookware were sufficient to the task so everything worked out great. If you are into your own shows and electronic entertainment, I'd recommend that you bring your own cables to connect up devices to the HDMI ports. We were glad we did because it allowed us to stream whatever we wanted via the solid internet connection. I would recommend this property to anyone wishing to get away for a quick and private trip.

    Steven2020-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place has everything you would want in an Airbnb— complete privacy, hot tub, fully stocked kitchen, and walking distance to town. We had a wonderful time exploring the nearby state parks in the day and coming home for a soak and a homemade dinner at night. One thing I will note is that the mattress is VERY soft. All around, a wonderful Airbnb.

    Elisa2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot! We had a fantastic time in this cute cabin. It was right next to town, which made walking to town very convenient. We would definitely stay again.

    Brittany2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a true gem. Nestled in the perfect location, we walked into town each morning for breakfast & went on small hikes nearby. The jacuzzi is a great touch & very private. It made a perfect place for a short and sweet romantic getaway!

    Kathryn2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy log cabin with great modern amenities! Everything is labeled which is so helpful, no fumbling with switches trying to figure things out. Nice private location yet walking distance to shops and restaurants. The fireplace does a great job keeping the place warm and cozy, the bed is super comfy, and the hot tub was so relaxing. The included binder has a great guide to all the local places, and self-checkin was simple. Overall a great experience!

    Sally2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice little cabin. It was really clean and very close to Main st. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay, checkin and checkout were easy and the inside of the cabin was very nice.

Welcome! A comfortable and private room and adjacent bathroom await you for a break from the hustle and bustle. Knightsview Farm has stunning views in every direction and is near the heart of Ramona and Julian and the center of San Diego County making it easily accessible to all the county has to offer! We are surrounded by Ramona's wine country with vineyards and tasting rooms just moments away. Hiking, biking, antiquing, wineries, starry skies and a hammock await you!
The house is all on one level with no stairs. We have 2 cats in the house and a barn cat and 4 horses outside (they love carrots!) The property is very hilly so if you plan to hike around appropriate shoes are recommended. There's space available in the fridge/freezer for ice and food items. We're happy to provide coffee in the morning- just tell us when you'd like it and it will be fresh brewed and waiting. Enjoy a cup on the patio or we have to go cups if you'd rather have it for the road. Help yourself to fresh baked goodies and/or fruit on the table!
The neighbors have cows, goats, horses and chickens and geese which you can sometimes hear. Other than that it is very quiet and private. There is a Civil War cemetery which is the resting place of some of Ramona's earliest settlers on the neighbor's property. It can be seen from the edge of the farm and is open to the public. Dark skies afford spectacular star gazing on clear nights.
  • My husband and I were visiting from Texas to attend a wedding at the Milagro Winery. We had a 4 hour drive in the morning so we were just needing a place to stay for the night. They were very informative and responded promptly to our messages. They had many suggestions of things to do, unfortunately we didn't get to do any of them because of our schedule. We checked in around 7pm and Gwen greeted us, and the home smelled amazing like she had just made dinner. She was so welcoming and showed us to the bathroom reserved for us. Then to the bedroom that had such heartwarming touches, it was like I was staying at an aunt's house. She had a very good space heater that kept the whole room warm, it worked so well that I had to turn it down, and my god the bed was so comfortable. The moment my head hit the pillow, I was OUT. Gwen also let us know we were welcome to hang out in the living room or share a glass of wine, and they'd be happy to have coffee ready for us in the morning. What I loved is that around the bedroom and bathroom, there were these cute little messages that let you know where extra things were, like toilet paper, what switch is for the fan, and a little basket of snacks and water bottles (which helped since we had to wake up early and get on with our drive) it was just all around adorable, very clean, and very much like home. AND THE VIEW, it was gorgeous out there! Whenever my husband and I are able to make it out again, I am deff staying here and taking them up on the wine offer ;)

  • Both Jeff and Quinn went out of their way to make me feel at home, even going to extra lengths to pick up a sandwich for me in town. They have a beautiful house that is situated in a beautiful landscape. They’re also very interesting people and it was fun to talk to them. All of the rooms were immaculate and clean. I appreciated having my own bathroom and shower. If I’m ever in the area again, I will most certainly be a return customer.

    Mark2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to spend time talking the evening away with Jeff and Gwen. Thank you for inviting me into your home, very accommodating.

    Domenic2020-01-25T00:00:00Z

  • The perfect way to start the year!! Everything was perfect as always! Gwen and Jeff are the best hosts Airbnb can have! Cozy home, very clean, great amenities, always making sure we have all we need and more! Please tell Lee we loved the winery! We’ll definitely see you soon! Thanks Gwen and Jeff!

    Sara2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Gwen & Jeff are great hosts. They take pride in their home and have lots of adorable touches as well as some pretty rad medieval decor! Our stay had embroidered towels, portable snacks, local maps complete with tips, and plenty of warmth for the winter. They were able to accommodate my boyfriend and I on a holiday and we were very happy ringing in the new year nature-style. Hope to stay here again in the future!

  • We had a great relaxing weekend at Three Peaks! The view and location of this cabin was so beautiful. I have lived in So Cal all my life, and didn't realize how beautiful it was in the Julian mountains. I can't wait to come back when all the shops and restaurants open back up. Luckily most places did pick up so we truly could enjoy Three Peaks. The beds were INCREDIBLY comfortable. The best beds in an Airbnb I have ever stayed in. They have furniture to be able to sit outside and enjoy nature. Easy to find. Place as clean and we loved being able to bring our pup with us. OH AND THE ROKU TV!! That was a great added feature so we could watch some shows at night. I would definitely stay here again and can't wait for the next trip to Julian.

    Bianca2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Three peaks was the perfect place for my family to relax and get off the grid. I enjoyed star gazing and walking the perimeter of the property. My kids enjoyed being able to play freely around the property without worrying about any cars coming by. The location is great - close to Julian and Santa Ysabel. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to get off the grid and I would love to visit again in the future. Shirley and Rich were very responsive and their cabin had all of the essentials.
