  • We had a lovely stay at Andrew’s beautiful quaint cottage. Everything we needed was there. And was very relaxing. A pity we couldn’t take advantage of the hot tub as it was a little difficult with the baby but everything else was perfect. A few pubs in the village and a supermarket close for any extras needed. Visited Southerndown which was only 20 minutes away. A lovely beach. Would definitely recommend.

    Gillian2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was very accommodating at such short notice. The place was beautiful and cosy for just the two of us. Would look to stay again in future.

  • Nick's response to my initial request was very prompt, which took a weight off my mind as I was booking last minute. Check in time was very flexible which was also a bonus as I didn't know for sure what time I would arrive. Communication was great. I was made very welcome when I arrived by Nick and the two wee dogs, Max and Lucy. Nick's home is warm, cosy and welcoming. I was too tired to socialise much after my long journey, but Nick made me a very welcome cup of tea and welcomed me into his sitting room for a sit down and we chatted. I found him to be open and friendly, interested in people, well travelled and good to talk to. I felt at home and comfortable in his company. The bedroom was very comfortable and warm. A little bit of noise from the road when window was open, but I found this comforting, not excessive. The bathroom was well equipped with bath and shower over bath, clean towels provided. I chose to skip breakfast as I had a big meal the night before, so couldn't comment on breakfast. For the location and facilities provided, the price is very competitive, I couldn't ask for more.

  • Great place to stay, compact and bijou. Jane and Stew have thought of everything, we had a very comfortable stay with beautiful views across the fields. Highly recommend for the area, ideal for visiting Cardiff and surrounding areas.

    Beverley2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a bijou space providing a bedroom and shower room. Within the bedroom there are facilities such as a microwave, utensils and fridge. Our hosts thought of everything - even down to milk, water, fresh orange and wine - how wonderful is that! We brought our dog, she was also treated with her own blanket, bowl and treats. I have to say we have never visited such clean and fresh accommodation, not that it was clinical it was beautifully homely. I can’t recommend highly enough. Super little space.

    Heather2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Jane and Stewart's Suite, which I booked last minute due to an unexpected cancellation by my original host. The Suite is located in a beautiful, peaceful area, set apart from the main road but within easy reach of the local village and shops. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, fitted with an electric blanket, and the Suite was equipped with lots of thoughtful touches, including hot chocolate, magazines and a brolly for rainy days. Jane and Stewart were so welcoming and helpful, allowing me a late check-out, providing me with a lift to and from the local village and informing me of local events to explore during my stay. Their hospitality and kindness really made the difference and I felt very welcomed into their beautiful Suite, which I hope I have treated with the same kindness and respect they have shown me. I will most definitely re-book the Suite if and when I return to the area, and highly recommend to anyone visiting St Athans or Cowbridge. With their accommodation and kindness, Jane and Stewart are truly the epitome of Superhosts!

  • Amazing place- lovely touches, very well equipped. Very cosy.

    Jenny2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for two nights and picked this property as it was convenient and dog friendly. We were certainly not disappointed. The location is perfect for Cardiff and the surrounding area. Our welcome was friendly and our 8 month German Shepherd was warmly welcomed to. This makes all the difference to us, where we go she goes. The B&B was sparkling clean with everything you could want and more, little touches like milk in the fridge (yes in a proper bottle), wine and a coffee machine were a cut above. There was loads of info on the local area and free view tv. The bed was very comfortable. But the whole thing was made special by the exceptional hospitality of Stewart and Jane. All I can say is ‘just perfect’ - highly recommended.

    Helen2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very clean, pleasant and well equipped for a small space. We spent three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Stewart and Jane are fantastic hosts, very welcoming and provide thoughtful little extras such as milk, cereal, tea, coffee which was much appreciated after a long drive. Thank you.

    Karen2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stewart and Jane were excellent hosts. Little touches, like individual red and white wine, fresh juice and milk, make it a that little bit better. After missing the bus connection for the train station, Stewart drove us down. The accommodation was tastefully furnished, modern with all the little extras included, tea and coffee pods. Highly recommended

  • This was a delightful warm cottage with really interesting decor in bedrooms and living rooms. We loved the walks along the coast just a short distance from the cottage.

    Robyn2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Rose Cottage is such a beautiful place. My family and I stayed there and were thrilled with the quality of a building that is some 400 odd years old. Despite its age, it was well appointed, clean, and had great facilities. Even better, it had good height clearance for those of us who are tall!. If you are after a character cottage in Wales, then this spot is the place to be. Highly recommend. We will certainly look to stay here again in the future.

    Nathan2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat being able to stay in this quaint cottage! Gilestone is a gorgeous village that’s just a 5 minute walk from the beach. Rose Cottage was beautiful, with comfortable, clean linen, a well decked out kitchen and a great back garden for playing cards in the summer sun. Hawys who checked us in was lovely and very easy to contact. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone interested in visiting the area!

    Olivia2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very warm, friendly welcome to this gorgeous, enchanting historic cottage by our lovely host Rhodri. Located in a pretty little village close to the sea, the cottage has so much character with attractive, quirky decor and furnishings and comfortable beds. Lovely countryside walks along the heritage coast - fabulous views from Nash Point and a great Sunday lunch at the Blue Anchor Inn. Thanks Rhodri for a fabulous weekend!

  • This is a very charming cottage. I went with 3 of my girlfriends and had an absolutely wonderful, relaxing and fun time. We loved the fireplace, huge bathroom and charming dining area in particular. It was very cosy, we were never cold and the walk to the beach was a true highlight. Highly recommend.

We have two young daughters aged 2.5 and 8 months and the bedroom was plenty big enough for a blow up mattress and travel cot which was great. The house is lovely and so conveniently located. Excellent value for money!

Wayside Cottage is your charming escape. A beautifully renovated cottage with the best of both worlds - a large helping of modern with a twist of tradition. When you turn off the busy A48 and travel the short distance down a country lane into the Vale of Glamorgan village of Gileston – home to 60 souls – you enter a different world, one of peace and beauty. Gileston has a delightful village green surrounded by beautifully turned out domestic gardens. The newly-painted red phone box at the entrance to the village is a sure delight to see, along with many other features, including its flowers, mark the village as the holder of the 'Best Kept Village in the Vale of Glamorgan'.
  • We stayed at Wayside Cottage for a long weekend visiting Cardiff and surrounding area. It is a stylish and well appointed cottage. Nicol responded quickly and was always helpful. Thoroughly recommend.

    Richard2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend Nicols cottage enough. It was absolutely beautiful and so cozy to stay in. 5/5 stars.

    Demi2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nicol's house is brilliant. We booked as we were attending a wedding at Gileston Manor, and hoped we would be close enough to walk - it's next door! The house is lovely and clean, there were lovely little welsh cakes on arrival, and milk in the fridge. The shower is brilliant, and really comfy bed. A great find.

    Sophie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wayside cottage is a perfect holiday home, it is clean, comfortable and welcoming, and in a great location for coastal walks, great if you have a dog.

  • A brilliant place for a few nights away. Clean modern cottage with all the home comforts you need.

    Richard2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wayside cottage is a home from home in a lovely location. The coastal walks are great and the area is so relaxing. We love coming here and hope to return soon.

    Carroll2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nicol offers a superb small, but perfectly formed cottage from which to explore the South Wales coastline. On arrival we had no problems gaining access with the key box, and found a beautiful conversion, with Welsh stone flooring and all the amenities you could ask for, not to mention a lovely personalised welcome. The location itself offers a great base for exploring the south Wales coastline. There are good recommendations for local places to eat and drink, but be warned - many of these are not open on a Sunday evening! On approach to the village, you can't help but notice the nearby power station - but, despite our initial worry, from the village it's completely unnoticable. You cannot see it from the cottage at all. We did have some issues with the provided Wifi connection on arrival, but Nicol was responsive and helpful and got it sorted out ASAP. All in all, a fine stay and a property the owner should rightly be proud of.

    Dave2019-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Have to say I was blown away by the place. The location was so peaceful and idyllic and situated right on the Welsh coastal path and 500m from the coast. Just perfect. The Hay Loft is designed with relaxation in mind. You will find it nestled within a pretty hamlet on the Vale of Glamorgan coast. Set within the grounds of a historic 17th century thatched cottage you are only a stone's throw from the sea.
Converted to a very high standard, this self catering open space offers ample room for 2 to share or a couple and two small children thanks to a mezzanine sleeping area and double sofa bed below. Think exposed stonework and limewashed walls. Freeview television, free wifi, underfloor heating, dining/living area and luxury 'pebble' shower room offer comfort with practicality. The design is inspired by Farrow and Ball colours, our travels in France and complimented by handpicked funky designer furniture and fabrics. If you're looking for something different - off the beaten track, yet within 25 minutes of Cardiff - then you may well have found the perfect escape. A sanctuary which combines the feel of a boutique hotel with the advantage of being able to come and go as you please. Cardiff International Airport is less than 10 minutes away as is the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, Fonmon Castle, Atlantic College and the historic market towns of Cowbridge and Llantwit Major. Be our guest.
  • The house was a dream for us. Was exceptionally close to an event that we had in the area. The house was beautiful and had everything that we needed

    Chris2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very cosy stay! Although quite small the lodge is well designed and has got everything you might need for a short stay. Very warm throughout with underfloor heating, good cooking facilities, comfy bed and a nice shower with good pressure. The communication was prompt, easy check in/out and a useful guide regarding parking, appliances and local eateries was available. Enjoyed our stay and we’d definitely come back!

    Lina2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I would definitely stay here again, the bed was comfy & the place was spotless

  • Very pretty compact cottage in a beautiful quiet village within easy reach of CARDIFF and situated in the stunning Vale of Glamorgan . Well equipped and very comfortable . I hope to be able to stay again next time I’m working in Cardiff.

  • Five star ***** for sure! Rhodri is a kind and generous host, easy to communicate with and check in was all smooth. His lovely cottage is spotless, and is a quick 3-5 minute walk to the beach. The coast line of Wales could potentially be walked if ambitious ! (I did not fall in that category, but aspire to! ) Very private and a true escape. Only 5 minute drive to Fonmon Castle ( using A2B Taxi, as others were unable to come out during our stay - must state that you are across red telephone booth) Wifi is fast and DVD's and player available. Convection oven and microwave, stove all in newer condition. Fridge is a decent size, and although cozy-- everything is placed in just the right spot and pleasing esthetically. Thank you Rhodri for a great experience in Gileston.

    Macarena2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Rhodri was efficient, friendly and helpful. The cottage was lovely, very cute and tastefully decorated in a quiet village location (note anyone who can't live without their mobile - there is absolutely no reception in the area BUT the WiFi in the cottage was good). When there was an unforeseen problem Rhodri responded really quickly and organised for us to move to his other property, Rose Cottage, which was lovely. We'd recommend both properties to other guests with no hesitation

    Emma & Charles2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 4 nights in Rhodri small house in South Wales during our Wales trip. It's amazing what can be sent everything and thoughtful housed in a small space. There was everything available, which one needs. The days and the weather in South Wales have been a good experience. Rhodri we have not met. However, he answered immediately our every question immediately via email.

  • Rhodri was a great host and greeted us on arrival. He gave a few tips on the local area and explained about the accommodation. We had a lovely stay; the accommodation was clean, warm, easily accessible and had all the appliances you need. The beach is about 5-10 minute walk away and village is close to the main roads into Cardiff and surrounding areas. Would highly recommend a stay in this nice little Welsh retreat!

  • The space was absolutely beautiful, well thought, special pieces were chosen to give a cozy and also elegant vibe. Very clean, great for a few nights. We did not have a chance to explore much of the area as we stayed for 1 night and were very tired, but we enjoyed spending time in and watching movies.😁great facility! I really appreciated the products in the bathroom, it is very helpful if you run out. Emma was supportive as we had some last moment changes in our initial plan. Thank you very much!

  • Spotlessly clean, light, spacious and stylish annexe. Thoughtful touches from the warm and helpful hosts help to make you feel really at home.

  • Prepare yourselves for the shower.... Man oh man is that thing incredible! Which incidentally fits in perfectly with the beautiful experience you will have. The entire decor and feel of 'The Cwtch' was wonderfully relaxing. It was immaculate (even by my OCD standards!) and the bed was the right kind of comfortable (medium firmness) with lovely linens and towels. Emma was so welcoming and accommodating, she gave us great directions to escape the flooded local area when it was sadly time for us to leave, also with great recommendations for a nearby yummy breakfast. We look forward to returning soon and playing the Barry/Barri version of Monopoly!!

    Melissa2020-02-29T00:00:00Z

  • Emma is a great host! She thought of equipping the whole apartment so that you did not miss anything, towels, dishes for eating, hair dryer, iron, cd available, beautiful surf books. We had a superb stay and we will come back to surf at Llantwit major

    Manon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at Emma's beautiful Annex! Very cosy and clean. During our stay we were joined by storm Dennis, but it didn't matter as we enjoyed a rainy walk at Ogmore beach nearby and came back to a lovely space, a cuppa tea and a film! It was the perfect place to be on a rainy day! :) Thanks Emma and Jay for making us feel so welcome! Would highly recommend.

Garden View is your Llantwit Major home away from home. Tucked away in a quiet spot just a stone's throw from the village's pubs, shops and restaurants, our cottage has everything you need for your holiday. Whether you fancy exploring the local coastal path, or just lounging around, we look forward to welcoming you. Garden View has one-bedroom, an ample living area, dining room, kitchen, conservatory and garden to ensure that you have everything you need to make your break special.
Garden View has everything you might possibly need to enjoy your holiday. If your idea of time out is to stay put and lounge around, then you will find the living area the perfect spot to rest and while away the hours. We believe that holidays are for switching off, and so you won't find a television but will find plenty of books to curl up and read in the cosy living room, or on a summer's day, in the conservatory or patio. For those who need to be connected, we also do have Wi-Fi access! If you fancy something a little more active, then Garden View provides a wonderful base for surrounding the local area. We have compiled a list of local walks and activities - so you will be able to find something to suit your interests. We are also more than happy to answer any questions you may have, so please just ask if you are curious about the local area. **Note: We are new to Airbnb but have 100% positive reviews from a previous rental company over the past 6 months. **
Llantwit Major is such a beautiful village, with every amenity on your doorstep. From the local pubs where you you will be made to feel at home, to the well-stocked shops, and highly-recommended restaurants too. The village is just a 20 minute walk from a stunning pebbly beach, and for those who are more adventurous, a walk along the coastal path will take you to St Donats, which is home to a medieval Tythe Barn and UWC Atlantic College.
  • The cottage is a lovely space with everything you could need, a well equip kitchen, fast WiFi and a comfy lounge area. It was very clean and tidy. The location is great for walking, the beach was just a 30 minute walk and lots of maps and leaflets in the cottage for inspiration. And lots of pubs and places to eat / drink near by. We felt very looked after. Thank you

    India2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful, we had a brilliant stay, it is decorated lovely and has everything that you need for your stay, the cottage is very well located, Llantwit Major is a beautiful little town with excellent transport links, we explored Wales from here and was even able to get the train into Cardiff from Llantwit Major. There are lovely little pubs a few minutes walk from the cottage and plenty of local amenities, Jane was so helpful and there were lovely finishing touches such as fresh daffodils and Busicuits on arrival. We hope to come back, this place is a real little Gem xx

    Jemma2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous cottage is perfect for a couple. It is newly refurbished, warm & extremely stylish. It has a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious shower room with toiletries & huge fluffy towels. The double bedroom is large, but the ceiling is quite low, so mind your head if you are tall! The mattress is extremely comfortable. The cottage is in the quaint old part of town, within walking distance to all the pubs, restaurants, cafés, shops & beach. You really don’t need to use the car during your stay and it’s only a few minutes from the train station if you want to travel into Cardiff. There is even a little parking space (but lots of other parking nearby as well). Jane, the owner, lives next door and obviously puts a lot of effort into making the cottage so welcoming. It was absolutely spotless. We had such a relaxing stay, thank you Jane & Laura.

  • Heather is a wonderful person and provides great hospitality. The place itself is wonderful and has an extremely comfy bed.

    Peter2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Heather's place is perfect for a countryside getaway but close enough to Cardiff City. I was however, staying there on a semi-official assignment at Cardiff Airport which is only about 3 miles away. Therefore, it suited my requirements as well. Heather and family (including the cats and the dogs) were really friendly and she went out of her way to drop m to the airport on my way back. There is a CO-OP Supermarket a few hundred metres away which is good enough for essentials. Although, I am sure the having a car would be the best option to get the best out of the place and its surroundings , I managed pretty well with public transport as there is a bus stop close by, with service to Cardiff Airport and Rhoose Rail Station.

    Jaideep2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to Heathers additional details for directions, her place was easy enough to find. We were pleasantly surprised at how cute and spacious the space was and only wished we’d been able to stay additional night. We were amazed to find additional extras in the cupboards and fridge to see us through, but a few minutes drive away there was a co-op, and a garage with a shop to get extra supplies we wanted. Heathers place is a lovely spot to stay with not too far to go to get to Cardiff, where my partner and I got to enjoy NYE with the Welsh ☺️

    Kirsty2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here over Christmas whilst visiting family in the next village. We can thoroughly recommend it to anyone needing clean, comfortable and well equipped accommodation on the south Welsh coast. Heather is quick to communicate and the self check in makes life easy. She’s s thoughtful host and the kitchenette was well provisioned.

Kay is a lovely host and includes some thoughtful touches, milk, fruit and yogurts waiting in the fridge when you arrive. Great quality bedding on a bed so comfortable you will sleep like a baby, and the whole place is spotlessly clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here.

  • Miff and her husband were lovely hosts. They have a beautiful home and the room was clean, comfortable and functional. Shower was top notch. Miff as a hostess was very communicative and helped me figure out the trains and public transportation. I would have really struggled without her advice. She even offered to pick me up from the train station. If you’re looking for a place to stay before a flight at Cardiff Airport, then don’t hesitate. Also her dog, Cassis is a darling.

    Dan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very good house and landlord! We were late, but the landlord drove to the airport to pick us up. The dog is very cute.

Quirky guest suite situated within a beautiful converted church. Llantwit Major is a small coastal town with excellent shops, supermarkets, historic pubs, eating out and takeaways. About 25 minutes walk to local beach. Excellent transport links to Cardiff and the Airport via train or bus, via the station, just a few minutes walk through the town.
The choir area of this Victorian church has been converted to provide a lovely wood-floored living room and kitchen area, retaining the original stained-glass windows, arched doorways and pitch-pine panelling. Heating is supplied by a large cosy log-burner, on the site of the original pulpit! The bedroom has a comfy double-bed and limed-oak furniture. Bathroom has shower and generous bath. Electric heaters are also provided.
The apartment is situated on the "Beach Road", where walkers form the main traffic. This is a quiet part of the historic town of Llantwit Major, just minutes from delightful 16th century taverns and other ancient buildings. St Illtud's Church dates from 500AD, "the cradle of Celtic Christianity" and houses Celtic stones dating back to the 8th century. A 25 minute walk takes you to the Heritage coast and beach, with its stunning geology, the Welsh Coastal Path, and nature reserves. Around 2 1/2 miles west is St Donats Castle, originally built in 14th century, once owned by William Randolph Hearst, and now home to Atlantic College. We provide leaflets outlining a great range of rural walks from your doorstep, or a short bus ride away, if, like us, you enjoy car-free days out.

It’s a great fun to pick up peacock feathers in the morning. With a car you can reach the beach or restaurants easily within 20 to 30 minutes, supermarket 10 minutes drive, Cowbridge 10 minutes drive. The place has all the facilities you need, especially the bed so comfortable and big for two people. Geoff and Veronica is very nice , offered us the high chair after they saw we got a toddler. • Miff’s place is as described but her welcoming family goes beyond description. She gave me her phone number in the event I got lost or stuck somewhere and needed help or a ride. I felt like I had gone to stay with a longtime friend or family!

  • A lovely stay again! Thanks Rhodri.

    Annie2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, it must be mentioned Rhodri is a great host. Communication building up to the date and during the stay was fast. The location of the cottage is beautiful, you are a 10-minute walk away from the ocean and are surrounding by lovely farms and picturesque properties. We enjoyed a 2-night stay here and found this place to be beyond what I and my friends expected. There was a large bbq to accommodate, the hayloft is great for extra guests. Fully equipped with kitchen, tv & bathroom. I would highly recommend this place to anyone as it is a great escape from the hustle and stress of the city. Thank you for our stay Rhodri.

A beautiful 1 double bedroom apartment , completely separate, situated in the historic town of Llantwit Major. It’s light , airy and spacious, and has a sense of peace , and joy It is a very friendly community There is a train service to central Cardiff, and the station is 10 minutes walk away We’re near Cardiff airport and within walking distance of Rosedew Farm/ Farmers Barns Wedding venue. We are situated on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast , and there are many walks along the cliffs.
There are lots of historical buildings in Llantwit Major, including the beautiful church of St Iltyd’s
St Iltyd’s church is very special and so is Nash Point light house . There are lots of lovely coffee shops , restaurants and gift shops
  • Accommodating host! Great value! I was passing through last minute and needed a safe place to rest for the night. Lyn's was perfect. Off street parking. Incredible back garden! The bedroom is right next to the street so if you're a light sleeper, bring ear buds. Cooked my own dinner but couldn't find a washing up rag! I hope it was okay I left items in the dishwasher. Shared bathroom with the upstairs tenant. All in all, great value.

  • This is the perfect location for an overnight stay if you are attending a wedding at Rosedew Farm. We were able to have a drink, leave the car and walk back to the property. Lyn had left us a nice loaf for breakfast and fresh milk. Thanks for a cosy stay with everything we needed provided!

  • Great

    Eloise2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wedding at Rosedew Farm so we were looking for somewhere clean and comfortable for a 1 night stay. Lyn’s place was perfect for what we needed. Only thing I would say is it is listed as “entire place”, however, it is the complete downstairs of the property and they were still there but upstairs, which shared the front door, which is exposed to the downstairs kitchen / living area. It was fine for what we needed but if you wanted complete privacy, it is more of a private floor than entire place. The bathroom had a wet room styled shower which was fine for our 1 night, however, again, if you are looking for a few nights, the bathroom gets soaked when you shower. Lyn was a great host; responded really quickly, gave great directions to find the property as it is hard to find on google maps, and was hospitable in providing tea coffee, milk and bread. The bed was really comfortable and the place was very homely. We really enjoyed our stay, so thank you Lyn!

  • A lovely little air bnb which was perfect for a stay after a wedding

    Louise2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • 8 Manor Park is a fantastic location. We stayed two nights and walked through fields to the beautiful coast and did a circular walk including a part of the coastal path. Llantwit Major is a beautiful village with loads of interesting buildings. St Illtyd's church is well worth a visit with its collection of Celtic crosses / stones. There is a good selection of eating places and we really enjoyed a sausage roll from the Humble Bee bakehouse. Lyn made our stay very pleasant giving us a nice welcome and gave us helpful information and recommendations for places to eat and visit. The house was cosy and well equipped and was a good base for a very peaceful and restful stay.

  • Lyns home was very stylist, and clean. She left us some very thoughtful touches, bread and milk. My only criticism was that the bathroom.was outside the flat, when in the middle off night you needed the loo, it was a bit inconvenient

    Alison2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place for a quiet long weekend in the Vale. Very convenient location, well appointed and comfortable, and Lyn was a fantastic host!
