Light-filled hexagonal cabin with views of Old Rag, surrounded by nature, and with the Hughes River, one of the cleanest rivers in the county (stocked with trout) running through it. Sit on the wrap-around deck and prepare a meal on the gas grill or enjoy morning tea or coffee in the sun, warm yourselves by the cast-iron stove at night or enjoy a fire in the outdoor steel firepit, and explore nearby wineries, breweries and fine dining.
Rustic wood cabin with high ceilings and tons of light, a fully-stocked kitchen and two bedrooms plus a loft (with 360 degree clerestory windows). Mature trees shade the property in summer, surrounding flowers bloom in the spring and attract butterflies, plus a hammock on the hill above is the perfect place to watch the clouds go by. Satellite wifi and Sonos speakers allow you to check in, if you want to, and enjoy your favorite music during your stay. Two separate heating/cooling units plus a wood stove keep you comfortable year round. A full bath provides a place to soak after a long hike. Growlers available for use if you want to get them filled in Sperryville while staying at the cabin. Sheets and towels provided. Just bring food and toiletries!
A quarter mile away is the parking lot for Old Rag, one of the most beautiful hikes in the Shenandoah national park. Sperryville, with its breweries, wood-fired pizza, coffee shop, and nationally-recognized Three Blacksmiths restaurant is fifteen minutes away, and Sharp Rock Vineyard is a little over a mile down the road. Meat, fish, and staples are available in Sperryville at the Corner Store.
  • Adam’s place was beautiful. Our small family had a wonderful little get away from the city.

    Sarah2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Architecturally beautiful and cozy cabin as close as you’re going to get to the old rag mountain trailhead (1.7 mi or 30 min by foot). Adam was an amazing host - very responsive and we appreciated his flexibility with our check in and check out. Would definitely recommend and we plan to come back again in the future!

    Max2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Adam’s place. There was plenty of room for two couples to spread out and the cabin was located conveniently near Old Rag Mountain and all that Sperryville has to offer. Great fire place and well appointed kitchen. The pictures don’t do it justice!

    Cole2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough good things about our stay at the Moon River Cabin! Adam was an excellent host -- extremely responsive, thoughtful, and helpful, even in light of several last minute questions as we were en route to the home. The home is absolutely stunning -- comfortable, modern, stylish, and well-appointed, without sacrificing the sense of being "away from it all" or in a rural setting. The property is similarly amazing with room to run (which my kids loved!) and views all around. My kids especially loved sleeping in the loft, which they called their "room in the stars," thanks to the gorgeous views. The house could hardly be closer to the entrance to Old Rag, so it would make an incredible getaway for anyone visiting the mountain. I'd love to return and would recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat. Thank you, Adam!

  • We had a wonderful stay at the cabin with our 3 kids aged 6, 13 and 16. The location is beautiful and quiet and walking distance to the Old Rag hike parking lot. The entry to the Skyline drive is about 30 minutes drive away. The house itself was sparkling clean, warm, bright and cosy and we loved to warm up by the wood stove after a hike. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen fully stocked. We cooked a few meals and lacked no utensils or even basic cooking items like salt and pepper. There is no TV but the WiFi is excellent and there were LEGO’s, board games and books which we were very happy with. The nearby town of Sperryville (about 9 miles from the house) is very nice with some quaint shops and good restaurants. A few tips: the nearest supermarket is far away so bring what you feel you need as the local general store’s selection is limited. Also, there are quite some areas around the house (even in Sperryville) where there is no cell phone coverage, so bring a map or an old fashioned non-mobile based GPS so it’s easier to find your way around. The owners were extremely friendly and responsive and made is feel very welcome even though we never met.

In the heart of the Shenandoah mountains. 1 mile from White Oak Canyon and Old Rag. Perfect for the fly fisherman (lots of local streams or in the back yard is the Robinson River) or a nice quiet get-away for a couple. Once you park your car you can sit back and just listen to the river flowing in the back yard and enjoy a nice beverage next to the fire pit.
Shower, toilet and sink. Futon for sleeping. Refrigerator, microwave, 2 top hot pot, grill, cooking utensils, plates and silverware. Bring a pack and play for your baby. Or just sit outside and listen to the river flowing in the back yard.
  • Great place. Very close to white oak and old rag trails. Place is a little small as the name indicated one room cabin. Gas grill is definitely a plus! The night sky next to the fire ring was very enjoyable. Will definitely comeback. Only thing to note would be this is the back yard of the host and privacy outside of the cabin is limited.

  • A great stay for Old Rag Mountain, and a relaxing getaway. Especially liked the grill and campfire options!

    Dylan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin right next to a little stream, calm and peaceful. Enjoyed seeing the stars and burning some firewood outdoors... Very close to several good hikes. Coming back! :)

  • The absolute cutest little cabin!! The shower and toilet area were separated from each other which was super nice, made getting ready with 2 people easier. The kitchen was perfect size, we used the grill and it worked perfect! They had a coffee maker/microwave/hot plate plus everything you need for cooking and serving. The hot plate cooks slow, but again, we were ok with using the grill! The cabin was clean and easy to find. The back yard was adorable with a seating area, fire ring and nice view of the woods and stream. We can’t wait to go back in the summer!

    Liz2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • would definitely recommend staying here! christa was responsive and made the check-in process really easy. the cabin included plenty of cooking/eating utensils that i had forgotten to bring, plus the view of the stars at night was unbeatable.

Our house is secluded on 70 acres and is just a short drive to Old Rag, White Oak Canyon Falls, Graves Mountain Lodge and Mercantile store. • Michael's place is very cozy and has a beautiful view. If you're looking for a place to get away and out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place to be. Mere minutes from great hiking trails and small town local eateries while also keeping you secluded from the public, you would be hard pressed to find a more ideal place to stay. Michael was kind and welcoming and also willing and able to adjust to my last minute changes in my schedule. I would gladly stay again.

    Austin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic view and a beautiful home! I would definitely visit again in the future. No kitchen, no problem! We decided to bring a portable outdoor grill, a slow cooker, some paper plates, utensils, and of course our own food which made the experience more memorable for us. Star gazing & the fire pit was totally awesome! This getaway was quite an experience and a great way to end off 2019!

    Jonathan2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing and the owners are extremely kind and helpful. The property is on a hill, so, awd or 4wd is definitely something I would reccomend but definitely not necessarily. Would definitely come back.

    Payton2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Good communication, easy check-in, great space and location for Shenandoah hiking.

    E2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Whoa. Michael and Elizabeth's place is even more beautiful in person. The home is as described, with nice touches such as a vent with heating option in the bathroom so you can stay warm after your shower. It's a quick drive to nearby hikes and restaurants. The view of the mountain is specular from the home and going in October is perfect timing for the fall foliage. I cannot recommend their place enough, we're already planning our next trip back.

    Toquyen2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t speak highly enough of my experience here. Michael was so wonderfully hospitable, responsive, and helpful throughout my stay and really made a great trip even better. The room (read: THE VIEW) was fantastic, and even the water was great (who thought that could be a review item warranting praise?). Only suggestion is that a compact car may have some difficulty getting up the driveway. Word to the wise.

    Aaron2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot for a relaxing weekend getaway! The space is very comfortable and cozy with a wonderful patio area and view of the mountains. Michael was a great host and provided very helpful instructions about how to get there and suggestions for activities during my stay. I especially liked being so close to several great hiking trails. I would definitely stay here again!

    Zenon2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Michaels place is a great location. You can see the milky way from the back patio at night, it’s spacious, it’s got all types of games, and binders full of food and amenities that you could do. It’s perfect to come back from a long hike and unwind in a chair by the fire with no tv to distract you from the beauty of nature. You might see a couple crickets but there’s a Dustbuster to pick them up and you’re in nature, what do you expect.

Little House is at the edge of our 7 acre property. You'll have complete privacy and use of our "sitting area" on Strother Run
There's something here for everyone to enjoy!!!! Top ranked hiking trails include: Old Mountain Loop, White Oak Canyon and Cedar Run Trail, Dark Hollow Fall and Rose River Trail, Top ranked wineries include: Early Mountain, DuCard, Bald Top Brewery and Copper Fox Distillery in nearby Sperryville Historic locations include: James Madison's Montpelier, President Jefferson's Monticello and the University of Virginia...as well as Civil War historic sites and battlefields!
  • This little cottage was absolutely perfect for a weekend of hiking with my dog. The location of the cottage was secluded enough to feel a world away, yet only a few miles from many Shenandoah trail heads, wineries/breweries, and only about 20 minutes to the town of Madison for groceries/food. The cottage itself, while small, was modern in its finishes/furnishings. I particularly appreciated the well-apportioned kitchenette. It was wonderful to step outside and hear the babbling brook just across the way. Finally, the cottage was impeccably clean, and the property well-maintained. Becky was incredibly responsive and very communicative, making my stay stress-free. Perfect for a solo traveler, couple, or small trio of friends who are very comfortable with each other. Probably not well-suited for those with limited mobility or young children. 10/10, would book again!!

  • We absolutely loved this quaint little house! It was perfect for our last minute hiking trip to old rag. The house was close to the entrance to the trail and they had a ton of cute wineries near by. The house was a perfect size for my husband and I and our friend and came with a hot top stove so we could cook breakfast in the morning. We had a great stay and a wonderful weekend and Becky was an amazing host. We can’t wAit to come back and stay there again!

    Shannon2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable remote cabin, perfect for an escape from the crazy city life where you can relax and breathe some fresh air. There is a trail head not far from the cabin or you can just hang around the property and explore. You are close to the main house, but still far enough away to have your own privacy. Cabin was spotless and charming. Overall, it was a wonderful, relaxing trip. My only regret is that I didn't have more time.

    Claudia2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent, cosy, cute place nestled in the hills - great for two couples or friends in small groups, or just one couple! Absolutely no complaints and the place was well-maintained.

    George2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • This listing is a real gem and exceeded my expectations given the very reasonable price per night. I've never stayed in such a clean and tidy Airbnb place. Becky, our host was extremely communicative and provided useful tips about local hikes. The house is very cozy and warm in the winter. If you like hiking, walk-in only trailhead access to Shenandah National Park is a ~1.5-mile walk up the road from the house near the PATC Meadows cabin (no public parking at this trailhead.) The kitchen is simple but all the essentials you need are there (hotplate, microwave, coffee maker, utensils.) They have good Wifi and we were able to download a movie to watch off iTunes in the evening. My only piece of constructive criticism is the mattress is a bit soft and I'd prefer something firmer. Overall, we had a terrific trip and hope to stay here again in the future.

  • This place is phenomenal. Amazing location that makes you want to live a simpler life. Very homey place with nice hosts and a kind family around. Plenty of area to explore. Will definitely be back. Hopefully sooner than later. This place and these hosts contributed to one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time.

  • Gorgeous Airbnb, property, and comfortable stay! There was no cell service but the WiFi worked great. Loved the snacks and amenities available.

  • Amber’s apartment is clean, cozy, and comfortable! The drive to this rural retreat has gorgeous views of the countryside. My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend here.

    Yolanda2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amber's place was exactly what we needed. We decided last minute to do a one night hiking trip with our dog and were thankful enough to find this spot. The drive down the dirt road is about 1.5-2 miles, but we found it easily with the directions provided. The basement space was private with its own entrance. We saw Amber and her family a couple of times as they live in the upstairs of the house, and they were very friendly and accommodating. Location was about 20 minutes from Sperryville which is small, but has everything you need in terms of food options, and only 25-40 minutes from a vast number of hikes.

    Rachel2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We went to Amber and Nate’s for a farm stay and to see the stars. It’s not a working farm, but definitely surrounded by lots of space. The sky was gorgeous and we were close to Shenandoah National Park. Sperryville looked cute but all of Main St. was closed for the holiday. Most, we appreciated the movie collection and how comfy the couch was. Tip: our Waze and internet service went out when we were almost there. Save screenshots of the map.

  • This tiny house is perfect for a weekend getaway. Larry was truly an exceptional host who provided us recommendations like hiking the whiteoak canyon trail and a winery where they are dog friendly. We had great conversations with him and our dogs loved playing together. The view from the tiny house is amazing and the amenities inside are exactly what you need for a couple days away from home.

  • Larry was an amazing host and he made my husband and I and our two dogs feel right at home from the moment we met him. His tiny house was quaint, cozy and clean. The views were breathtaking. This experience was exactly what we wanted for our short getaway! 10/10 would recommend staying at Mountain Field Farm, you won’t regret it!

    Celena2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Larry was very sweet and welcoming, and his place is just gorgeous! It's a real cabin on a farm, with a window by the stove where you can see both the sunrise and sunset, and say hi the horses while cooking or making and drinking coffee. The bed is a small, but extremely comfortable (it's a full). There's a nice trail that we took our puppy for a walk, and although we stayed in the whole time, we know that there are activities to do and restaurants to go not far from the place. Larry can def help with that. Make sure you take a nice bubble bath, and that you get up to see the sunrise. And also to hear Larry's tales. We didn't this time, but planning on learning all about it next trip. P.S.: our puppy has never seen such a "big doggy" before! She loved the horses and asked to go see them both mornings we were there. So cute and funny. Thanks, Larry!

Stay near the best mountain trails in Shenandoah National Park with a few wineries just down the street. A super cabin for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and doggies. Soak in the hot tub year-round and take a dip in our natural swimming hole in the summer. Regardless of the season, you'll relax in the nature that surrounds you from our large screened-in porch -- so you can experience all of the fresh air without any of the mosquitoes.
The cabin is made up of a large, open living area with a bedroom in the back on each side. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom with a tub and shower. The screened-in porch is almost as large as the living area and provides winter mountain views and a shady summer retreat. You can cook your own meals in our well-stocked kitchen and eat at our kitchen counter bar or large dining table. Outside, you have private access to Ragged Run, a pristine flowing creek with a private swimming hole and a few seating areas perfect for conversation, reflection, or your beverage of choice. Cap off your day with a soak in our hot tub or a fire in the fire pit. For those who must remain connected, we offer both Direct TV and satellite Internet, which we find to be sufficient for most applications. With current model cellphones (iPhone 6 or higher and Android 7), you will be able to make and receive wifi enabled calls on your cellphone. We do offer a landline for backup.
Our cabin is in the shadow of Old Rag Mountain, the most popular hike in Shenandoah National Park. It's a quick drive to the trailhead from our place. We're also a short drive from another fantastic but lesser-known hike: White Oak Canyon. And we're just a three-mile drive from DuCard Vineyards, which makes hyperlocal wines and has great musical entertainment on Saturdays. The nearby local institution, The Little Country Store, in Etlan can hook you up with pizza -- and BBQ if you're there the right day. • I cannot say enough good things about our trip!! As soon as you arrive on the property, you will immediately feel at home. Whether you are an avid hiker or looking to unplug and sit by the fire, this is the place for you. We will most definitely be back!!

  • The house was perfect for me, my husband, and our 5 year old. One of my favorite Airbnbs we’ve ever stayed in. The location is great - close to hiking trails, Sperryville, and the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. Thoughtful touches all over the house - great binder of info, labeled light switches, games, dvds, balls to play with outside - so much to do! The house was incredibly clean and comfortable. Tracy was quick to respond to questions I had before our stay. We would love to experience other seasons here!

  • Great place to stay.

  • Great place! Nice, quiet and private location

    Nicolas2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • The place was as advertised. We were able to take a few walks along the road leading up to the cabin. This was the first time we were able to truly experience the changing of the colors and when the leaves started falling it was like watching large snow flakes they were falling so fast. Tracy was really quick to respond, when we would text or email her with questions about the area. We would definitely recommend staying here, it was an amazing experience.

    Carol2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cabin, exactly as advertised, in a great location for hiking Shenandoah and exploring local wineries and breweries. Cabin was clean and incredibly well stocked, complete with hot tub, fire pit and private creek access. Very private surroundings, with an attentive host who was also very hands off once we arrived. Would happily stay here again.

It is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. Only 90 min drive from D.C. Unplug!
The cabin is very cozy and comfortable. It is a true cabin with wooden walls and vaulted ceiling.
Wooded and secluded, the cabin sits on 4 acres overlooking the pond. There are other cabins in the area but not that you can see from ours.
  • Very clean! Secluded and quiet! There was even a little Christmas tree up! Try not to arrive at night. It added an extra level of stress to us.

    Sarah2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely quiet and private as promised. We loved watching the Heron and Kingfisher flying around the pond and listening to all the other birds. Plus it’s close to Old Rag and the Skyline Drive!

    Lauren2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The couch that is there now is way better than the futon in the photos. Great little spot for a getaway. Only regret is we never got around to using the fire pit during our stay.

    Daniel2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing weekend at Jane's cabin! It was just what we were looking for -- quiet, relaxing and close to some great hiking spots. We also enjoyed trying out a couple local breweries and wineries! The cabin itself was simple, but spotless. We had everything we needed and enjoyed having no WiFi or cell service for the weekend. We downloaded a google map of the area beforehand, which helped a lot!

    Brittany2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Jane’s cabin. It is small but cozy. We swam in the pond multiple times per day and did some great hiking!

    Miranda2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, private mountain cabin with everything you need. Excellent choice for your trip or vacation!

    Molly2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful relaxing haven! The pond was a great spot for fishing, the cabin could not have been more cozy with comfy beds and awesome forest views, and we were close by to the Shenandoah Nat’l Park Whiteoak Canyon Falls trail head. Can’t wait to return!

    Mary2019-06-23T00:00:00Z

The Cottage is the original farmhouse built in 1794 when the farm was founded .We are located on the Hughes river ( native trout fishing) at the foot of Old Rag Mountain only two minutes from the parking lot @ Old Rag. Access to White Oak Canyon and Shenandoah National Park are only minutes away. We are also a working vineyard and winery with our tasting room open Friday thru Sundays and by appointment.
Closest lodging to Old Rag hike Mountain views 25 acre property with riverside location 8 acre vineyard
  • The cottage is a lovely, quiet spot for a few days away from it all. The space is very functional for cooking, eating, relaxing, and sleeping. Jimm made us feel very welcome, and we had a great time!

    Claire2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location and wine. My girlfriend and I came to the cottage to enjoy hiking the Old Rag Trail which is two miles down the road and then treat ourselves to Sharp Rock Vineyard wines, which were all great; both red and white. The cottage was comfortable and warm plus there are cute, friendly animals near by on the property: cats, dog, horse and chickens :). Download in advance any movies or maps as the country side will put your phone reception on zero bars most of the time. Great nature get away, we'll come back.

    Carl2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jimm was great, met the cutest fluffy cat, had wine, met chickens, what more do you want?

    Connor2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at Sharp Rock! We had a wonderful weekend at Jimm's cozy cottage. Perfect location to enjoy Sperryville and the surrounding areas. The cottage is comfortable and perfect for a family. We really enjoyed our visit.

  • Amazing location, beautiful cottage, exceptional host.

    Nicholas2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • James' Place is cozy and charming. No TV but the wifi allowed us to stream movies during our stay with no problem. The beds were very comfortable and we had all we needed for simple cooking in the kitchen. The property is so pretty and just up from the river - we enjoyed sitting outside on the porch listening to the water and taking in the view. I highly recommend a stay here - it was perfect for a getaway with a friend.

    Andrew2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect get-away place with easy access to Shenandoah National Park. We are 2 moms without family for Thanksgiving this year and had a wonderful time at James's place and hiking!

    Suzanne2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage minutes away from the parking lot for Old Rag. James and his pup were super hospitable. There was coffee, snacks, juice and cream. This part may sound silly...but I judge houses by the quality of the bath towels and finally huge and fluffy!! I strongly recommend James’ cottage!

Come stay in our secluded 1850s solid brick farmhouse. Completely renovated with all modern conveniences, including central AC, heat, & high speed WiFi. Five miles from the Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns. Short walk to beautiful Lake Arrowhead. With no light pollution, you can see the Milky Way from the porch at night. We are family friendly and love dogs. Our goal is to provide a superbly clean, safe, comfortable stay with access to a multitude of outdoor activities.
Hi! We travel often for work and usually stay in other Airbnb rentals around the world. From these experiences, we bought and renovated the Farmhouse as a full-time vacation rental with all the little details we expect (and are often missing in other places). Basically, we created our dream Airbnb vacation stay. We are Airbnb SuperHosts and hope you'll read through our 5-star reviews to be confident in your booking. The Shenandoah Valley is our home and we love to share the undiscovered pleasures of the area. We have Mountain Ranges on either side of the Valley with a gorgeous River running through it. Our nightly price covers up to six guests. Kids are always welcome, and we're pet friendly (with prior approval). Just let us know who you're bringing so we can accommodate (need the high chair, pack n' play or dog bowls? Let us know!). If our Farmhouse is booked or you're booking for several groups, please check out our other new renovated rental in Luray: Modern Mid Century Home + Mountain Views + River https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20762442 House: We have lovingly rehabbed this nineteenth century solid brick farmhouse and turned it into a cozy, modern home. The house is on a secluded two acres with plenty of trees and a babbling brook. The Farmhouse has been updated with all conveniences, including central AC, heat and high speed WiFi (a Ubiquiti mesh network). This is not a rustic cabin, but some seriously awesome luxury. A great way to enjoy the outdoors. If you have any special needs, just ask. We live just ten minutes away. Bedrooms: The Farmhouse can sleep up to six people, but also perfect for a couple who want a quiet getaway. We gladly provide all bed linens, towels and pillows. There are two bedrooms in the main house. The master suite has a king size bed with new pillow top mattress and flat screen TV. The second bedroom has a West Elm Queen Bed that comfortably sleeps two which also includes a work desk and two lounge chairs. The super private, separate Writers Cabin has a Restoration Hardware Queen Bed that sleeps two. There's also a work desk, flat screen TV w/ Netflix, wifi, and AC /Heat (guests will need to use the house bathroom). Bathrooms: We have a full bath upstairs with a brand new, Americast soaking tub. Downstairs, there's a half bath powder room with an energy efficient, compact clothes washer. We provide soap, shampoo, towels, and washing detergent. Living room: We love to spread out on the loungey, L-shaped couch and mid century style leather, chairs. There are plenty of board games, playing cards, novels, kids books and magazines to read. Or hook your phone up to the bluetooth speaker and play music on the stereo. Kitchen: The kitchen is fully equipped with an eight person farm table and antique, deep double bay soapstone sink and newly installed Bosch Ultra-quiet dishwasher. You’ll have everything you need to cook a holiday meal, bake cupcakes, or just make coffee + toast and use the microwave for simple reheating. We provide a blender, crock pot/slow cooker, pots, pans, dishes and all utensils. If you need anything we don’t have, we'll do our very best to accommodate. We provide a lot of "starter stuff" so guests don't have to over-buy for short stays (condiments, spices, cooking oil, charcoal, bug repellent, etc). Coffee. We love it! so we provide a couple different ways to make coffee. We have a Bonavita drip machine with a reusable brass filer. Or you can use our stainless steel french press. We provide Starbucks Medium roast coffee, sugar (and non-sugars), creamer, stevia. If you bring your own beans, you can use our electric burr grinder. There's a number of different tea bags as well because tea is good too. Entertainment: The house and yard have high speed WiFi access. We installed a Ubiquity mesh network so the internet reaches to all corners of the yard and around the house. If they even have it, many local rentals have slow satellite access or very limited bandwidth from the cell towers. We made sure to get fast, unlimited broadband. Lounge inside to check your email, or wander outside to research bugs and birds on Wikipedia. Both flat screens are hooked up to Apple TVs. You can watch unlimited shows and movies on our Netflix account, or sign in to any of your accounts to watch what you want (NFL, NHL, HBO, MLB, iTunes, Hulu, etc). Kid stuff: Because you're probably traveling with enough stuff already, we do have a high chair, a Pak n' Play, and plastic eating dishes for small kids. Just let us know if there's an infant in your group so we can have everything ready for your arrival. BBQ, Campfires: We custom designed and built this brick outdoor BBQ to double as a grill and fireplace. We love to have a meal on the deck while looking out over the hills and the friendly herd of cows next door. Sometimes the cows even come up to the fence to say hello. We always leave you with some starter charcoal, BBQ tools, and plenty of firewood. We also have a little campfire pit on the side yard with plenty of seating, perfect for some s'mores action! Night time star gazing: The firepit is the perfect spot to sit, watch the stars, and listen to the night sounds. Because our nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away, this is one if the best areas in Luray to see the Milky Way without light pollution. Outdoor Space: There are two acres of land so you’ll have plenty of room to play a game of soccer, toss the frisbee or play other games from our equipment box. Read a book at at any of our shaded picnic tables. Explore the stream running along the property when the rain has come. Hang out in the hammock and watch the sun go down over the hill. There is also a covered area to park up to four motorcycles. We provide several binoculars and bird watching books if you want to wake up early to see the forest come alive. There's a family of turkeys and deer who pass through our property at different times of the year. We even have an owl that lives in our owl box that you can see from the porch if you're lucky. If you ask us, we'll let you know about the secret soaking spot on the edge of our property. After you walk through a small stand of trees, you'll find a private watering hole in the limestone creek bed, filled with fresh water that comes off the National Park. Take a cool dip on a hot Virginia day. You'll want to wear shoes since it's rocky. Parents can decide if it's safe for kids. Renewable Power: We buy 100% renewable power from our local electric coop, which buys the power from Stony Creek Wind Farm. We have an outdoor 110v outlet if you want to trickle charge your electric vehicle (we hope to see more of them visit). If you are Elon Musk, we'd love a supercharger, but we'll have to stick with 110v for now! Neighborhood Lake: Lake Arrowhead is just a short walk down our quiet gravel road. Maintained by the town of Luray, you can pay a small fee to rent canoes, paddle boats, or enjoy the beach area with a lifeguard. If you have your own boat, you're welcome to put in (but no motors since this is the town's reservoir). There's also a trail that winds around the lake for a great walk. It's a lovely (and free!) way to spend an early morning and get some exercise. Luray Caverns: The Caverns are world famous since they were discovered over a century ago. The family who runs the Caverns have done a great job creating an inspiring, tasteful experience. It's a perfect place for an afternoon trip underground. There also plenty of other activities for kids like the giant maze and jungle gym. The Pioneer museum showcases demonstrations on how the first settlers in the area lived. Shenandoah National Park: We're only five miles from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. You can buy a day or week pass into the park to drive the 110-mile Skyline Drive. Choose from the approximately 100 day hikes (of varying difficulty) that show off the Park's many waterfalls and vistas. We have booklets describing all the hikes. If you want to get 5 feet away from a deer, you'll be able to. Sometimes it's fun to eat at Skyland on top of the mountain where you can see the all of Luray and Page County below. Shenandoah River Outfitters: A short drive across Luray will bring you to the river outfitters where you can rent a canoe, kayak or tube for hanging out on the Shenandoah River. A must-do activity when the weather is nice. You'll never forget the times you spend on the river. If you have your own boat, you can use a number of public boat landings as well. Weddings: Since we're less than 5 miles to Khimaira and Faithbrook farms, we have many couples use our farmhouse as their homebase during their wedding adventure. Usually a bride stays to get ready with her bridesmaids before the big event. Our property is a great place for pre-wedding photos. Newly married couples then enjoy their honeymoon where they can relax on our secluded property. In order to help you look your best, we have a full length mirror, iron and ironing board and lint rollers. Small Town USA: Luray is a quintessential small American town with a number of restaurants from fancy dining to burger joints. Gathering Grounds is our coffee shop w/ wifi, and Fairview Grocery makes fresh donuts from scratch every Saturday, get there early, they always sell out! Every Saturday morning from May-September, there's a great Farmer's market in town to pick up local produce and meat from area farms. The indoor Willow Grove Farm Market sells locally produced food all year long. Several pizza places deliver to the farmhouse. For quick needs, there's Fairview Grocery just five minutes from the Farmhouse that has sandwiches, beer, wine, snacks, and homemade donuts (only on Saturdays, they are amazing). Treasure hunt at the antique stores, or grab outdoor gear at the outfitters. The 6-screen movie theater, a true local treasure, is open for matinee and evening screenings. Uncle Bucks is the sports bar where locals enjoy the game (stays open till 1am every night). Several groceries stores and Walmart will provide you with everything you need. There's also The Valley Cork wine bar that's open Thurs-Sunday 4-10 to enjoy a local (or int'l) wine tasting. Hawksbill Brewery recently opened where they make all their own beer. The Luray Zoo is on the edge of town and famous for rescuing exotic animals. Perfect for kids who want to safely get close to animals (like goats!). A newly renovated hospital w/ a 24-hour emergency room is just 10 minutes away. We provide a binder with maps of everything close by and are just a text away if you have questions.
Quiet, nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away. Short walk to Lake Arrowhead Recreation Area, 5 mile drive to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.
  • Very nice get away from the city! It has an amazing view and location. Close to the entrance to Shenandoah national park and has walkable distance to the lake trail. The house is very spacious, calm, and clean! We even extended our stay since we really enjoyed it a lot! Highly recommendable for those people looking for a nice airbnb near Shenandoah area.

  • Ryanne and Jay’s place was great! The property and house are beautiful. It’s a private area with a great outdoor space. It had everything we needed and it was only about a 10-15 minute drive to Shenandoah National Park! Would definitely recommend their place!

  • What a real gem in a lovely setting. The farmhouse was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated with many thoughtful touches. And it is dog friendly to boot! Part of the family stayed in the writers cabin and it was very comfortable and cute. The yard is large with much room for outdoor activities. Communication was very effective! The kitchen is well stocked and there is also an outdoor wood grill for cooking. Thank you Ryanne and Jay.

  • Absolutely recommend. If you’re looking for an AirBnB that’s unique, but also modern and comfortable, this is a great option! Lovely place to really unwind, and there are several ways you can enjoy spending time with people you love. The landscape is beautiful, and the home is very welcoming! We enjoyed cooking in the mornings and hanging out outside. The hosts are easy and friendly to communicate with. It’s always going to be one of our favorite memories!

    Charles2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ryanne and Jay were great hosts and were quick to help with WiFi issues during our stay (not that we were at the house much during the day). The kitchen and dining space was wonderful and perfect for a group. Loved the decor and detailed touches that made the stay so homey. Some bugs around the house, but you are next to the woods! Loved that they even had a compost bin. The stars are really amazing out there on a clear day. We had a wonderful weekend there- would definitely stay there again!

    Cindy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the farmhouse! It was sparkling clean and offered great amenities, even the small touches that other AirBnBs often lack - plenty of towel hooks and a jewelry plate by the bed. We played with our dog in the giant yard, hiked Mary’s Rock only 10 mins away, roasted marshmallows by the campfire, and relaxed with some Netflix on the bedroom couch. 10/10, will definitely return!

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a 3 night trip with the kids to Ryanne and Jay’s place. It was blissfully quiet relative to our place in the city, and the house is full of nice touches (including board games, outdoor toys, and books galore). We look forward to a summer trip when the kids can play in the creek and spot more bluebirds in the field.

White Oak Canyon Cottage is a cozy cottage nestled in a beautiful valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Robinson River. It is located adjacent to the Shenandoah National Park and is literally steps from the White Oak Canyon Hiking Trail.
Our cottage offers small, modest accommodations and is ideally located for hiking, fishing, birding, watching wildlife, visiting wineries, or just relaxing. It is fully furnished. We have two small bedrooms - one bedroom with a full size bed and one bedroom with bunk beds. Our kitchen is provided with full stove, refrigerator, micro-wave oven, and dishwasher. The cottage is furnished with coffee maker and filters, toaster, dishes, pots and pans, pillows, sheets, blankets, and towels. It is also furnished with dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, and bath soap. Just bring food! The bathroom has a combination tub/shower. In addition, we have a large backyard with a Weber charcoal grill, fire pit, roasting sticks, and cornhole/corn toss for your enjoyment. Firewood is provided for your convenience. The cottage is a manufactured home that has been modified with an overhead, permanent roof and siding.
The cottage is very remote and wildlife is abundant. White tailed deer are prevalent in this area around dusk and at night. Also, it is not unusual for bears to come strolling past the cottage during June, July, and August. The bears also like to climb up in the apple trees in the backyard to eat the apples. Also, it gets very dark at night..... very nice for stargazing.

  • Our stay here was wonderful! It was clean, well-stocked, and we really appreciated the fenced in dog run. It was a great few nights of being unplugged. My only “complaint” would be the low water pressure in the showers, but not a make-or-break! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin and hope to be back in the future.

    Katrina2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A Buck’s View was just as described and more. Comfortable, clean, and well taken care of. Great location only minutes from Shenandoah National Park entrance and Luray Caverns. We had a great family getaway and would definitely recommend to anyone interested in renting the cabin.

    Derek2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Home is adorable, SUPER clean, and in a great location. Nice hiking trails just outside the door and hot tub under the stars was lovely!

    Michelle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • My family and our pups had a wonderful Christmas holiday at the cabin. It was in a great location, close many things but also off the beaten path, quiet, and picturesque. We were grateful for the dog-friendly space, the fully equipped kitchen, and the pull out table that allowed us to have a sit-down holiday meal together. Carl gives EXCELLENT directions about the cabin. Make sure you read through everything he sends you and you will have no surprises and have an enjoyable trip. It was a great time and we hope to visit again!

    Amanda2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean cabin with all the comforts of home. We thoroughly enjoyed our time! It was great to have the fenced in backyard for the dogs.

    Katie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was awesome! It seems like every trip/vacation we take it's full of blunders and usually we are ready to pack it up before it's even begun. Not the case with Ey Man's place! It was cozy, quiet and clean. Stores are only 10 minutes away to go down and sneak some wifi but being unplugged, playing board games with our teenagers was like stepping back to a simpler time! The hot tub was enjoyed by all as was the fire pit and porch. It was a perfect fall weekend to celebrate our boy's birthday. There is a house phone for emergencies, full fridge, stove, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Plenty of information is displayed on the local scene so it's easy to decide what to do. We spent a wonderful day at Luray Caverns and another enjoying Skyline Dr both are minutes away. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this cabin!

    Talane2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • A bucks view was beautiful. We had a great time spending quality time with each other playing board games and exploring the woods. Loved the hot tub! I cant wait to visit this cabin next year and refer our friends!! We found out the first night that the fire place wouldn’t turn on, Pete just happened to be working at a cabin close by and stopped by to check on us and see if we needed anything, we told him about the fireplace and he fixed it right away. He was amazing! Just fyi....we have AT&T and T-mobile and none of our phones worked, you have to drive a few miles in order to get service. Also luray cabins and walmart is only 15 mins away! Such a nice and relaxing vacation! Thank you!

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 2 miles outside Shenandoah National Park, and just off main street in Sperryville, our cozy efficiency apartment is close to a variety of attractions. The unit is fully furnished with a full bath, kitchen, off street parking, and entrance. We're just a short drive to the park or a short walk to downtown Sperryville.
Originally a 19th century barn that was later converted into two apartments, we offer a queen size bed, open layout, with a full kitchen and bath. Please note there is little to no cell service in and around Sperryville. The main house (built in 1916 and affectionately known as Boo Boo's House) sits right next door just off Main Street. Get away from it all and enjoy the mountains in the heart of Sperryville and Rappahannock County with its antique shops, art galleries, wineries, and world famous restaurants.
Sperryville is a charming little village. Full of character (and characters!) So much to do in such a tiny town. Wonderful restaurants, antiques and galleries abound.Along with wineries, we have Brew Pubs and a local distillery. Not to mention all the natural beauty that surrounds us. Friendly and beautiful community!
  • We had a fantastic time at Elena and Mark's place. They were very friendly and easy to communicate with and the guest house was spotless and convenient.

Queen bed with plush bedding. Private bathroom with shower. Kitchenette with hotplate, smoothie maker, coffee maker, and microwave. Private deck that overlooks the Thornton River. Outdoor shower.
  • Very clean, centrally located. Comfy bed linens.

  • This place is wonderful. Check in was easy, the space was clean and beautiful. The creek in the back was wonderful to sit and have a drink by. There is no cell service, so you feel like you're really getting away from it all. The apartment has everything that you could need for a weekend! Very comfortable bed, wifi, shower and kitchen. Great experience!

    Hannah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little spot. My husband and I went on an overnight getaway and this was perfect. Clean, peaceful, and super comfy bed. I wish we had more time to explore the trail just along the river out back and do some local hiking. We will definitely be back!

  • If you’re looking for a place to stay right in the heart of Sperryville I can’t imagine there are any better options then here! Parking to yourself, easy checkin and out with the keypad and right next to all the spots worth checking out (Hopkins Ordinary Aleworks, Before and Afternoon Cafe, Three Blacksmiths) our only regret was not staying longer!

    Roxanne2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute, cozy cottage and the perfect location for folks looking for a romantic getaway to the area. We look forward to making a return trip.

  • Gorgeous studio right on Main Street nestled in the midst of the restaurants and galleries. The bed was divine and the space was lovely. We highly recommend Jackie’s place if you are hankering for a break near Shenandoah and Skyline Drive. Be sure to plan to eat (well) as the options are plentiful.

    Anne & Tim2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for dinner at Three Blacksmiths and Sperryville Main St!

    Celeste2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a great stay at Jackie’s place. We found it to be very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The space was nicely decorated and had everything we needed for our one night stay. We were there so we could walk to The Three Blacksmiths. It was perfect for that since it is only two or three buildings away. If you are using google maps to get there I would suggest entering “the before and after” coffee shop instead of the address for the airbnb. For some reason google and Waze took me about five houses up the street close to the happy camper when I put the airbnb supplied address in. Btw. The Before and After Coffee Shop is excellent and right next store to Jackie’s place. Try the quiche! We also really enjoyed Headmaster’s Pub and Pen Druid Brewing. Headmaster’s has a great chef. Much better than the average bar food.

  • We had a great weekend here—it’s a manageable distance (1.5 hours) from D.C. We loved the big yard and the view—great sunsets. David is super communicative and even shared some DVDs with us. David’s kitchen has everything you need to cook, plus oils and spices. We cooked most of our meals. Bald Top Brewery is nearby and was excellent. A good food truck too. We also drove into Sperryville (25 minutes) for pizza at Rappahanock Pizza Kitchen.

    Colleen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • David is a very nice person and cares about his place. the place is clean. He washed linens in unscented laundry detergent for me and checked to make sure everything was OK for my stay. Views are spectacular; the location is so serene and quiet. I enjoyed my stay.

  • The check in process was great, easy, with clear instructions. The house has a big lovely fireplace that we enjoyed relaxing in front of with a good book. The location of the property is fantastic. It's right next to Old Rag and a few minutes (maybe 3 minutes drive at most) down the road from the Cedar-white oak loop. It really felt like a home away from home. I couldn't recommend this place more. We look forward to returning in the future and we'll even reccomend it to others who want to visit Shenandoah with their pups.

  • Rustic and amenity full cabin filled with lots of nice personal touches just a few minutes from both Old Rag and White Oak Canyon trailheads. Great place to stay as a base for hiking or whatever!

  • This is an amazing find! The location is perfect for hikers and the hosts were super informative. This is probably the most organized check-in and Air BnB I’ve been to. Def recommend.

  • Such a wonderful house and location! Our family felt right at home and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Highly recommended for a mountain getaway!

  • Amazing and restorative off the grid get away. Melinda was super responsive and helpful and greatly welcoming upon our arrival. Miss it already!

  • Perfect cabin location for a getaway in the Shenandoah Mountains! Easy access to hiking trails directly from the cabin, no need to drive. Cabin is furnished well and perfect for a family. We utilized the charcoal grill, fire pit, and other outdoor amenities. A wonderful stay and can’t wait to return!

    Ben2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a place. We had a great stay, the cabin has a wonderful feel to it and has everything you need to fully cater for yourselves. The position of the cabin meant we didn’t use our car for 3 days as we could walk to the most fantastic hikes, just make sure you bring all the food you need for the time of your stay. The owner s are great and helped us to safety when the road flooded! Can’t recommend this place enough .

A beautiful old farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 1880 farmhouse sits on a small stream that runs through the entire fifty-five acre property. The house is clean, minimally decorated, with pasture views out of every window. The farm is located 80 miles from Washington DC and just down the road from Sperryville, Old Rag Mountain, Skyline Drive and other local attractions. (Please contact me if you would prefer a one-night booking. I can usually accommodate you.)
A beautiful old farmhouse nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on a small stream called Walnut Run. The house is clean, spacious and comfortable. The property is fifty-five acres of secluded rolling hills that are open for guests to explore. Walnut Run Farm is a one-man operation. I am doing my best to hold on to this truly unique and beautiful property. There are financial pressures to sell and or subdivide but what makes the farm special is that it is intact and retains its sanctuary-like privacy. The farm is perfectly sited along a little stream (Walnut Run) and sits in a bowl surrounded on one half by trees and views off to the pastures in other directions. There are the original outbuildings, including a spring house with pump, a smokehouse, a corn crib and a Virginia-styled barn. Work needs to be done everywhere around the farm. Everywhere! Each stay helps so much in preserving this truly special old farmhouse and property. Thank you - John
The farm is very close to Thornton Gap, an entrance to Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. From the farm there is quick access to many of the noted hiking trails in the park, most notably Old Rag Mountain and White Oak Canyon. Continuing on past the entrance to Shenandoah National Park is the city of Luray, known for Luray Caverns, a national landmark. A bit further on is the Shenandoah River where there are river outfitters for rafting and canoeing.
  • We had a lovely, quiet, long weekend at John's farmhouse. It sort of took me back in time to the farm I grew up on. It was nice to disconnect, walk the grounds with our dog and make meals at home. Despite being a very old house, it was very comfortable. The creek on the property is very peaceful and it's right outside the back door. This place was just what we needed after a stressful few months. We'll be back again. Can't recommend this place enough.

    Shane2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Walnut Farm provides a true place to rest, relax and recharge. Grounds and home are beautifully clean and well manicured. The home is extremely comfortable and well decorated whilst the library and walls are full of amusing and thought provoking works . Warm, cosy kitchen is perfectly equipped to cook or just linger gazing at the beautiful countryside behind the house. Go for lovely walks on property or take a short drive to local trailheads and/or major hikes in Shenandoah National Park. Sperryville and Little Washington are short drives and offer a range of charming markets and stores or three star Michelin cuisine. Best part about this Airbnb is the prompt and detailed communication from your host, John. If you are a smartphone addict or workaholic, this is not the place for you as cell and wifi coverage can be inconsistent....but that is really what makes this property an absolute gem! Highly recommend Walnut Farm.

    Lisa2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • John's farm and property are incredible. Definitely the place to bring dogs and definitely the place to come and unplug. Highly recommend!

    Jason2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house was in a great location! We were in town for a wedding in Sperryville and it was very convenient. The home and grounds were beautiful. It has an old charm mixed with modern artwork we found fun. Also appreciated the great coffee provided!

    Brooke2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • John’s farm house and the grounds ate a secluded getaway for those weary from the city. Check in and check out we’re very easy, and John’s communication was excellent. The house had a ton of character, with interesting art and an old world feel. It was like going back in time. Thank you John for a great stay.

    John2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • John’s place is absolutely beautiful with amazing furnishings in a stunning landscape. This is not your runofthemill Airbnb, it’s really special. He’s quick to respond and helpful. As advertised there is no cell service, but there’s WiFi and an Apple TV with Netflix , etc. We’re looking forward to going back!

    Meaghan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful farm house located only 15 minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance of Shenandoah National Park! John was quick to answer all of our questions and provided great suggestions for restaurants and wineries to visit in the area. Our dog absolutely loved running around the picturesque property and it was such a treat to enjoy the freshly ground coffee that John had ready for us. You can tell he puts a lot of care into the home as it was spotlessly clean and the grounds were meticulously groomed. The home also comes stocked with any cooking necessities for when you want to stay in and cook. Throughout the home you will find multiple sculptures and artwork that John created himself, some that definitely sparked conversation. For those of you that are attached to your phones 24/7, you will finally have an opportunity to put your phone away as there is no cell phone service within 10 miles. Thankfully the home has WiFi for if you absolutely need to check emails or texts. The town of Sperrysville offers a great pizza place called RPK and the Corner Store has freshly made sandwiches available to quickly grab when you are headed out for a morning hike. Grab a bag of Route 11 chips, they are best potato chips you'll ever have! Before & After is a great breakfast and lunch place that is a real treat as it also offers many of the great local wines. We greatly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

  • Great location to Shenandoah National Park. My wife and I stayed here two nights and one full day. We were a 15 minute drive to the trailhead for Old Rag. The property was beautiful, and if it were the summer, I would have loved sitting outside and enjoying the view. The house itself is mid-century modern with two spacious bedrooms. Very clean and easy check-in.

  • Amazing location if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. The views are amazing and the house was very clean! David was a great host!!

    Brandie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • David’s cabin is in a great location. Very clean and comfortable! The cabin is perfect for a weekend retreat. It’s located in a secluded area, on the top of a mountain with some great views. A long gravel road leads to the cabin which might be hard to spot when you arrive in the dark. Just know the navigation apps on your phone might not work very well. There are plenty of wineries, antique stores and restaurants in the area! And, hiking Old Rag is a must! We visited the area for a birthday party at the Three Blacksmiths. Make a reservation at this delightful restaurant if you are in the area. We personally love the Sperryville area and will definitely be back.

    Kjell2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Second time stay at David’s slice of Heaven and it was just as remembered. Such a peaceful weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Will be back.

    Carrie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second stay at David's cabin. I love the location on top of the mountain with amazing views, how private it is yet only a short drive from amazing hiking spots. The house is exactly as pictured and David is a fantastic host. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Jessica2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • David's place is wonderful - just as described. He is an excellent communicator and gave great directions. It was a very cold weekend but we were cozy and warm especially with the fireplace which was well stocked with wood. The house had everything we needed and is very accessible to Sperryville. If it had been warmer, we would have taken advantage of the patio which has a great view.

    Charlotte2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, comfortable home in a very special location. The property is immediately adjacent to the national park and sits atop what is effectively a private mountain. This is a special, secluded spot that would make a fantastic jumping off point for hiking, biking, or generally exploring the region. There's a long, unpaved private drive up to the house, which was very well maintained, but is steep in spots and could potentially be tricky to navigate in bad weather. Was no problem in mid-December in the rain in a front-wheel drive vehicle. David was a very responsive and gracious host. We hope to return to this beautiful spot in other seasons.

    Stephen2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We live in DC and are repeat guests at this place. It's absolutely perfect, lots of space and amazing hospitality. It's exactly what you want if you're trying to get out of the city for a few days. It's a wonderful house with all the amenities you would expect and pretty secluded up the mountain. It's about a 15 minute drive into town where we always meet the nicest people. Really cannot say enough great things about this place and about David.

    Aaron2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • David, went above and beyond to be a great host. When we arrived there was information on the table about how things worked around the house and where to find things. He also had some great recommendations for the area. We brought both of our labs with us and they have the time of their lives.

  • This is a great place. We loved the location. We were a bunch of friends and our large dog. He also loved the place. We didn't go to the town but it's fairly close by if one wants to go for food or something. We decided to cook all our meals. The kitchen is sufficiently stocked. The best part is we could see the sunrise over the hills every day. The dog loved running around the property and going for walks. All in all we really enjoyed the stay and hope to visit again.

  • What a beautiful place!!!! Enjoyed the hot tub and the cozy cabin!!!!!! Thanks so much!!!

    Maria2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely great weekend getaway at the cabin. It was extremely clean, well stocked and very comfortable. The views and the hot tub made it hard to leave after our couple of days were up.

    Espedito2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was the best one we’ve rented in Luray and we enjoyed our stay! We were greeted with a lovely welcome basket and hand written note from the owners, which was so thoughtful and much appreciated! The cabin was clean, spacious, and well appointed for our Thanksgiving getaway. The views of the mountains are amazing from the cabin and the hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pots and pans, which was very helpful for when I made Thanksgiving dinner. There was a cabinet full of non stick sprays and spices so that was a nice touch. The owners also have a cabinet with toiletries for sale so if you forget something, leave a dollar in the cup and take an item to use! Bathrooms were spacious and there were plenty of bath towels available for use. The washer and dryer came in handy a couple of times. We are always thankful to find places to rent where we can bring our senior dog with us. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cabin! We will definitely be back!

    Lisa2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cabin! Everything was as described and the prior positive reviews were on point. The hosts are quick to respond with any questions you may have. Their instructions are easy to follow and the check in/check out process was simple. The welcome basket (fresh bread, apple butter, dog treats, and sparkling cider) shows just how hospitable and thoughtful these hosts are! The cabin was clean!! It was in a perfect location for us to have a quiet weekend getaway. The mountain view is gorgeous and it's just so peaceful! There is a grocery store about 15 min drive for a couple of things we forgot. There are attractions nearby as well, but we didn't visit any this time around. We appreciated the already ready firewood for us to create a fire and have smores. Also, the hot tub was ready to go when we got there as well. I could go on about all the good things to say about this place as they most certainly deserve all 5-stars! The only thing to note (which they tell you in advance) is that there isn't cell signal depending on your carrier (we have AT&T) and the wi-fi isn't that strong so we essentially "unplugged" for the weekend. The wi-fi worked enough for texting, but that's about it from what we tried. We would definitely stay here again in the future! Thank you so kindly for everything!

  • Great cabin and location

    Brian2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Lisa's place is amazing. It is quaint, easily accessible while also feeling secluded and away from the world with an amazing view to boot. My now Wife and I stayed here for the weekend of our wedding as our venue was right down the road. I could not have asked for a better place to stay while there. Mark and Lisa go the extra mile with all of the little touches that make you feel right at home and comfortable. The hot tub overlooking the mountainside is an absolute slam dunk, and everything went as smooth as can be. I could not say enough great things about this home and it's owners. My wife and I will 100% be back to stay again whenever we go to the area.

  • A great place to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. To be able to have a campfire while listening to a rushing river and watching the moon rise over the ridge was just what we needed.

  • We had a very special time staying in this cabin. It was mid winter, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the outdoor fire pit and indoor fireplace - with wood conveniently supplied by Kenny. There are great trails from the nearby Shenandoah trailhead. Being unplugged without cell reception or internet was perfect too. Would definitely recommend and come again.

    Timothy2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a special place! If you want a place to really get away, this cabin is it. Above a gurgling creek and out of range of Verizon’s network is a perfect combo for peace and quiet. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, and the house has everything you need for a few days away. The ride up the hill should be made during the day the first time! For restaurants, plan on driving 30 min. back to town. This is clearly a cabin that has been cared for lovingly.

  • A perfect spot away from everything! I came here for 24 hours of rejuvenation and found complete zen on this property. The front desk is fantastic for just sitting and taking in all of nature. I was even lucky enough to still catch some beautiful fall foliage. The property is a little over a mile walk to the White Oak Canyon trail and is also very close to other sites in Shenandoah. The cabin itself was spotless and can definitely hold a small group of people with no issues. Kenny was a great host and met me about one mile from the cabin prior to check-in. You definitely do not want to arrive after dark! Highly recommend..thanks for a great stay!

Falling in our "One Bedroom Plus" category, Pembroke Cabin is ideal for a romantic couple's getaway or perhaps a small family. Kids love the open loft with futon and adults will appreciate the private king bedroom on the main level. The great room features a vaulted, open beam ceiling with fantastic natural light, stone fireplace with gas logs, TV/DirecTV, and a full kitchen. A full bathroom and laundry are also on this level. The screen porch is a favorite feature with a hot tub and a view!
Shenandoah Woods is in a private valley. It's quiet here and we ask you to help maintain the serenity. Luray is 12 minutes away. Shenandoah National Park is 15 minutes away.
  • Just as beautiful inside as the views and location. I was blown away by how cozy and gorgeous the cabin itself was. An added bonus of the screened deck makes the hot tub an easy decision at anytime in the day. Beautiful location, gives privacy, and I was fortunate enough to see the fireworks from a wedding at the pavilion just down the mountain during my stay. Incredibly clean and I had everything I needed for my stay. I can’t wait to return!

Get away from the madding crowds with a quiet retreat to the country. Spring has sprung, and the birds and flowers are making a return. Here's a totally modern cottage for up to four people for whom camping and even our Hayloft Cottage may seem a bit too rustic. The back door opens up to a porch and a spacious 1.5 acres of fenced-in area (shared with Hayloft dog owners and our mutts), perfect for your four-footed friends (limit 2). Come get away!
Daughter Amy lived in this cottage when she grew lovely flowers up on the hill for sale in the city. She has a daughter of her own now, so her special place is now available to share with others. Amy's Place is a small, comfy cottage that shares space with the main house, the barn, and several other buildings on what had been a large, 400-acre orchard farm a hundred years ago. It's down to only 15 acres these days and maybe a half-dozen apple and plum trees. But that's plenty of space to enjoy the country scenery. Amy's Place is close to Old Rag Mountain, White Oak Canyon, and numerous tasty wineries and breweries. While less than 100 miles from Washington, DC, it seems a world away. Just what you need to recharge your batteries.
You're in the country now! Traffic jams are rare, and those that do occur usually have something to do with a slow-moving tractor. Cell phone reception can be iffy, but you were looking to disconnect anyway, right? And you are apt to see all sorts of animals. Cows, cows, and cows, for one thing. And the occasional turkeys, foxes, groundhogs, skunks, rabbits, possums, raccoons, and did I mention cows?
  • Amy’s place was a cozy house with a great location near Shenandoah National park. We brought our dog and she had a great time running around the fenced backyard after our hikes in the park. Billy gave us great tips on local attractions. At night we were able to see every star in the sky. Not to mention the house was spotless and had great coffee.

  • Billy's place was picturesque and the perfect location for our hiking trip to Old Rag. We were able to talk with him while having a drink at Shotwell Run Brewery (a mile down the road) and he was just as pleasant as his place. Whether enjoying the rain while sitting on the porch or venturing into town for some food and drinks, 'Amy's place' was a countryside haven.

    Adrianna2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Billy's place is a perfect place to stay for weekend trips with friends. Very close to Old Rag and other hikes, as well as a couple of breweries and wineries in the area. The place was very clean, cozy, and private. Will come back for future trips to the area!

  • Great place! Super spacious for our group of 6. We weren’t able to use the fire pit bc we didn’t bring our own equipment, plan accordingly. We also passed the house initially as we arrived late and it was dark - houses go by names. Limited signal in the area and tougher when traveling at night so download your maps prior. Douglas was a great host, very accommodating to our needs!

  • Only stayed one night but had an amazing time. The views were beautiful and only a short drive to old rag. Kitchen was stocked with everything to cook dinner and had plenty of firewood. Definitely planning another trip soon to stay a couple more nights!

  • Loved Doug’s place! Beautiful, close to trails, plenty of room, and full kitchen!!! We bought groceries on the way and made a delicious meal there while we watched the sunset. Would stay here over and over again! Plus, Doug gave a great hiking recommendation.

  • Beautiful location! Stargazing, firepit, mountain sunrise! Had a great time!

  • The yurt was warm, cozy, and perfect for a solstice getaway with my group of girlfriends. The kitchen has all the basics plus a thoughtful touch with fresh coffee beans and a grinder. The view and the whole property were peaceful and lovely. We can’t wait to come back.

    Rebecca2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing location and the yurt was fantastic. We stayed at the hill top cabin and want to come back again soon. Douglas was an amazing host and very responsive to us and our questions. I would highly recommend it!

  • Stayed a night here with a few friends after hiking Old Rag and had a lovely time! The farm was beautiful and peaceful. The beds were comfy. Check-in was easy, although there is no cell service in the area so plan ahead! Thanks Doug!

  • What an amazing space. The space has everything you need, is super cozy, and just a short drive to the national park or early mountain, to name just a few local attractions. We will definitely plan on staying here again. The nest is the best!

    Roberto2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The reviews don't lie: our stay at Rosemary's nest couldn't have been better! A lovely space (much larger than it seems from the photos), immaculately clean, and perfectly located with fantastic views from the front porch. Lots of nice small touches, too, and the kitchenette was well-stocked with breakfast and snack items. Rosemary was incredibly responsive to our messages, and greeted us upon arrival to give us a tour of the apartment. She and her husband Joe were both very warm and welcoming, but also respectful of our privacy.

    Jonathan2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The nest was the most amazing home base for our week in Shenandoah NP! Location could not be better! Home was about 30 minutes to hike Old Rag and Whiteoak Canyon, both of which were excellent trails! Must do! It was about 40 minutes to the Thornton Gap and Swift Run Gap entrances. The nest was so cozy....you will be blown away by all the wonderful touches Rosemary puts into the nest to make our stay beyond comfy! I spent numerous hours sitting outside on the deck breathing in the clean mountain air and listening to the calming forest sounds. The sunsets on the deck will leave you breathless! The neighboring area is beautiful, with vast farms and stretches of open land! Many pretty drives, especially now during fall foliage, which by the way looked like it was peak this week! The space is clean....like your own home! At night, it was quiet and amazingly comfortable to relax on the couch after hiking all day. Rosemary was so thoughtful to leave us breakfast items and snacks! That helped to give us a great start! Thank you Rosemary and Joe for your warm hospitality! It was really nice getting to know you both! Highly recommend this place....you will be very, very happy to stay at Rosemary’s nest! Promise!!

    Elena2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We planned a weekend to do the Old Rag Mountain hike, we were 4 people in total and stayed in Rosemary's Nest. It was an amazing stay! So cozy and warm! We had everything we need: breakfast, snacks, tips and tons of water for the hike, and everything was so clean! We slept in a room with 2 beds, but they were very big and comfortable. It was very special, we really felt like home. Thank you Rosemary for your great hospitality! We will stay in your Nest next time we go to Shenandoah, for sure!

    Dani2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Rosemary and Joe’s was wonderful. They are super sweet people and the best hosts. The space was very thoughtfully put together and had everything that we needed. Highly recommend to everyone headed to SNP!

    Carly2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We chose Rosemary's Nest for two reasons, location and prior reviews. The location to Shenandoah National Park and especially Rag Mountain was great. The great reviews I had read were not exaggerations! It is obvious how much effort and pride Rosemary takes in this place. It is immaculately clean and has so much to offer. Rosemary goes overboard to make you feel comfortable and offers so many extras. You will not be disappointed!

    Kathy2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two nights at Rosemary’s Nest and were very pleased with the accommodations and hospitality. The nest is immaculate and Rosemary and Joe take the time to add little touches to make your stay extra special. We hiked in Shenandoah National Park and enjoyed dinner at Miranda’s in town. Highly recommend a stay at “The Nest”.

    Patty2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We travelled from England for a 16 night road trip using AirBnB for most of our trip. Rosemary’s hospitality was THE BEST of the four that we stayed in. The accommodation exceeded our expectations with many lovely, little touches to make the space homely. Rosemary was respectful of our independence - we’re pretty self-sufficient travellers - but friendly too and offered suggestions for hikes and even helped a little with ideas for dining out. We had a very relaxing 3-night stay with peaceful sleep and leisurely breakfasts from a well stocked kitchen and beautiful sunsets on the porch. Thank you Rosemary!

Starting in April, the Hayloft Cottage is open once again for your country-living pleasure. This is your chance to get away from all the crowds and spend some peaceful time in your own, personal retreat. Enjoy the many local hiking trails, the fields, the mountains, and the fresh air. And feel free to bring the pups along (limit 2).
Over a hundred years ago, the farm was made up of 400 acres of peach and apple trees. The old house dates back to 1911, and the barn is said to be about as old. A portion of the barn was converted into your living quarters, with kitchen and bath on the lower level and the bedroom and living area above. A sliding barn door provides privacy for the bedroom.
Rolling hills. Old Rag Mountain. Trees and pastures. Bails of hay. Breweries. Wineries. Distilleries. Antiques. Dark nights and billions of stars!
  • I would highly recommend Billy and Margrit's space to anyone looking to stay near Shenandoah NP. Great amenities, very cozy, and a convenient location too! Nothing but good things to say.

    Tyler2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Friends and I spent a weekend at the barn, hiking during the day and hanging out and cooking in the evenings. The location is great for hiking Old Rag and White Oak Canyon, and there are breweries and vineyards close by. WiFi was spotty so it helps to plan activities before arriving. All in all we had a enjoyed the novelty of the barn, ladder and all.

    Lauren2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft is a gem. Margrit, Billy’s wife, and Penny the pup were delightful hosts. Billy sets you up for a great time whether you want to get out and explore or watch movies and stay cozy in the loft. We were a group of two couples and two dogs and we were perfectly comfortable with the privacy between sleeping spaces. The dogs loved the outdoor run. The barn is a quick drive to several breweries (check out Shotwell Run down the road!), Sperryville and Little Washington. The stars at night and beautiful views in the day will having you feeling refreshed and renewed when you leave. Get away to the Hayloft- you won’t regret it! Can’t wait to go back.

    Laura2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for an enjoyable off the grid experience and stay! Loved watching movies at the end of the night on the couch. Just a note to other guests that the WiFi did not work during our stay so we did rely on going to restaurants to use the WiFi to send emails and texts (highly recommend bringing a GPS with you since google maps did not work after service is lost and planning out spots for meals, etc). Loved the barn - super cozy and homey and provided more than enough heat for the colder fall nights. Thank you for a comfy stay!!

    Katy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first experience with Air bnb and it was perfect. We were coming to Etlan to attend an event at a vineyard and the Hayloft Cottage was exactly what we were searching for. It was very clean, private and very close to the vineyard. Margrit was there when we arrived and answered all of our questions. We will definitely return!

    Kim2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Luminous and beautiful renovated barn, very well located to enjoy shenandoah national park and the piedmont. Billy and Margrit left us very useful information about the area and the weekend events. The bathroom and kitchen on the ground floor and the bedroom and living room upstairs communicate through an open air covered stair. Althought not typical, this participated to the nice countryside atmosphere.

    Joel2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Billy's place is such a unique and quaint place to stay! We had an absolute blast during our weekend stay, and the barn was such a fun added touch to a relaxing weekend getaway! Billy and his wife are the nicest couple and were so welcoming. Definitely check out their brewery- it is the most adorable place with great brews and wine!

    Maria2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at the Hayloft! Billy and Margerit were extremely accommodating and had lots of helpful tips for activities and places to visit in the area. We brought our pup along for the weekend, and he had an amazing time as well. The fenced in dog area was perfect for him, as were the surrounding hikes. Would absolutely recommend staying here, we will certainly be back!

  • Great for a getaway from life! Highly recommend 4wheel drive to get to the cabin! The balcony has a beautiful view and the hot tub was the icing on the cake!

  • We had an amazing, relaxed girls' weekend at A Buck's Run! The cabin is spotlessly clean and very well-appointed. The kitchen had every item we needed. We arrived at night and had no problems locating the cabin. There are plenty of pillows and cozy blankets for relaxing on the couch, and the beds were comfy. The cabin feels very secluded, but is close to Luray and the National Park entrance. It felt like an escape to the woods, but with all the luxuries you would want to relax and refresh. You can even get pizza delivered to the cabin! Your cell phone won't work much, if at all, but that was a wonderful feature of the property for our group.

  • This was our second time staying at A Buck’s Run. We really liked it the first time so we came back. It’s right next to Shenandoah which was very convenient because we came to hike for the weekend. The place is very beautiful and has an amazing view. It’s very clean and homey. It’s sort of difficult to get to but since this was our second time we knew what to expect (you need four wheel drive to comfortably get up there, there are no lights when you’re driving at night, and there’s no service for google maps - so you need to rely on the directions from the host which are very clear and helpful). It was very cozy especially for end of October. The heating works really well. This time around we also knew to expect that there is zero service up there (although there is a tv with working cable and a few dvds). The whole cabin is very pleasant to stay in and perfect for us since we like having a kitchen to make breakfast in. Overall very happy with our stay.

    Joanna2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This house is in pristine condition and extremely clean. A lot of great amenities in the kitchen.. an entire carousel with spices and a keurig with so many choices including tea. Beds were extremely comfortable and all the rooms were spacious. We rented a weekend with our best friends and it was great having a master bedroom downstairs and one upstairs.

    Shannon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sadath was an incredible host. We felt like at home in his house. I have had my family visiting me from abroad and I couldn’t choose better for our vacation. There was enough room in the house for all of us, everything was nice and clean. The kitchen was fully equipped, we found simply all we needed. Sadath was all the time available on the phone for us in cases we had some questions. We would 100% recommend the Sadath’s house to others and also for us, it wasn’t the last time we were there, for sure.
