We are 3.2 miles from the wonderful market town of Abergavenny, gateway to the Beacons National Park. We have amazing views of Skirrid Mountain and countryside. • We booked Daisy Lodge for a little weekend getaway and had a wonderful time there. I can only recommend it. The lodge was spot clean and we had everything what we needed.

  • Claire's place is as beautiful, if not better than the photos. The interior is modern, spacious and very comfortable. They are located amongst fabulous scenery (and down the road to a michelin star restaurant!) and our stay was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the hot water was not working for the first evening/morning of our stay, but the hosts made up for it with it being fixed fast and a half-day extension to the end of our stay.

  • Excellent accommodation, super hosts, beautiful setting. Highly recommend.

    Helen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is done to a very high standard, to the extent we enjoyed staying in more than going out. Both hosts were helpful and attentive and made our stay special. Thank you.

  • I will definitely be coming back as this place is a little cozy gem. Close to a lot of attractions or just a good place to relax.

  • Beautiful accommodation in a gorgeous setting. The lodge was stylish and spotless with all of the lovely extra touches you could ask for. There wasn’t a thing we needed that Claire & Justin hadn’t thought to supply. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend!

  • We had a fantastic time, Claire and Justin were great hosts and the hot tub was an extra special treat. I would definitely reccomend daisy lodge for a romantic get away.

A newly renovated cottage in the grounds of a country house close to Abergavenny & the beautiful Black Mountains. Stylishly designed, it retains the stone walls, beams & arched windows of the coach house it once was. It's the perfect place to relax after a day in the Welsh countryside: There's a well equipped kitchen, a cosy wood burner (with a basket of logs & kindling), a smart TV, wifi, lots of books, 100% cotton bed linen, fluffy cotton towels & SenSpa bathroom products. Outside, the kitchen garden is a great place to chill & there's also a private courtyard right next to the cottage.
Court Cottage was once part of the stable yard of the country house to which it belongs. We have recently refurbished it - turning it into a lovely cottage that retains the original roof beams, stone walls, arched windows and doors. Outside, there is plenty of private space - including a pretty courtyard next to the main house, with a table and chairs. Guests can also use the South facing kitchen garden - where there's a bench that's a great place to read a book or take in the views of rolling countryside. There's space to store bikes under cover and an outside tap to wash down bikes, boots and wellies. Inside, you walk straight into the sitting room, which is open to the roof eaves. It has two comfy sofas piled with cushions, a wood burner for chillier days, a digital TV & DVD player, a selection of board games and lots of books & local guides. Through the old pine double doors is the cosy bedroom, with its large arched window and beamed ceiling. It has a king size bed with pure cotton bed linen and a blanket woven from local wool. The bedroom has plenty of hanging space and a chest of drawers (and lots of room under the bed for suitcases etc). There's a digital radio on one of the bedside tables, usb plug sockets and also a hair dryer. Next door is the stylish en-suite bathroom, with a roll-top bath and separate shower. White cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower gel are provided. There's a socket for electric toothbrushes or shavers. The kitchen leads off the sitting room. It has painted cupboards and a marble worktop, together with a kitchen table for two. There are two usb sockets near the table, making it perfect for working as well as eating. A large antique pine storage cupboard houses everything you'll need to cook up a feast (or microwave a ready meal...). There is a microwave, induction hob & oven, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washing machine. Tea, instant coffee and sugar are provided - and there's also a cafetiere if you're a real coffee aficionado. There’s also salt & pepper and olive oil. We also provide a clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board as well as tea towels, washing powder, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. There is wifi throughout the cottage. There is central heating throughout & we also provide a first basket of logs & kindling for the wood burner.
Abergavenny, renowned both for its Food Festival and as the gateway to the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains, is 4 miles away. There you'll find local shops, a really good butcher and bakery, as well as a great local cinema and some of the best restaurants in Wales. For wonderful walks & cycling, you're spoilt for choice: the Sugar Loaf & Skirrid mountains are very close by, as is the famous Offas Dyke Path.
  • It’s nothing that hasn’t been said before, but what a beautiful place. Quaint setting in a courtyard, peaceful, quiet and tastefully decorated. There’s also a huge stockpile of firewood to keep cosy. Absolutely recommend! (Maybe just take slippers in the colder months as the stone floor can feel cold!)

    Sophie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Well designed and incredibly tasteful. The location was very peaceful. I would highly recommend it and will definitely return.

  • A beautiful stay at this stunning cottage. Perfect for us for our birthday weekend. Cosy, beautifully decorated with a luxurious feel.

    Lucy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage - spotless throughout with great bath and shower. Comfy bed and lovely linen. Had a nice time relaxing after walking the nearby peaks. Plenty of places to eat nearby or stock up on food for the cottage. Very easy to find. Thoughtful hosts. Would recommend.

    Penny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Joanna's beautiful cottage. As the weather wasn't amazing, we mainly stayed in, and felt really at home doing so. There was plenty of wood for the fire provided, the kitchen was amazingly well equipped meaning we could spend lots of time cooking, and the entire place was just really comfortable and cosy. The bath and shower we're lovely - it was very hard to leave!

    Emily2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful, even better than it appears on the photos. Joanna was also a great host who was easy to get hold of should we need anything. Location-wise there were plenty of shops (Aldi, Waitrose) and restaurants about a 10minute drive away and the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. There were a variety of local walks a short distance from the cottage, we drove a bit further afield into the Brecon Beacons national park to the four waterfalls walk which was about a 50-minute drive. I'd recommend this AirBnB and would happily come back.

    Greg2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Every detail well thought out and meticulously executed. A thoroughly wonderful place to stay in a beautiful part of the country andJoanna ensured we had everything we needed for a perfect trip.

    Ed2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for our first Christmas together and we cannot fault the airbnb or Joanna in any way. When we arrived, it was spotless, tidy and welcoming. She even sent us a message to ensure we had enough kitchen utensils to make our Christmas lunch the next day (we absolutely did, the kitchen is very well stocked!). It was a very special place to spend Christmas, and the grounds it's situated on are absolutely gorgeous. We went for a walk around the gardens and it was teeming with woodland wildlife (including the odd pheasant or two). Most importantly, it was absolutely silent! A perfect place to go if you want to get away from the city and hide away for a weekend, or ideally longer. This is an airbnb where the pictures really do not lie. I highly recommend booking a trip so you can see it for yourself. Worth every penny. Side note: my girlfriend accidentally left an item behind, and Joanna soon arranged for it to be sent back to us!

This neighbourhood is quiet and certainly not a party place. We enjoy the countryside and its many unique pleasures. The local restaurant pubs and shops are really lovely and walking distance to our small holding.
  • Stayed at the hut when storm Dennis was in town - although we didn’t get to explore past the hot tub the grounds looked lovely. Hottub needed more fire than normal to get it hotter and Janet made sure she did what she needed to do for us on this matter. Shame about Dennis but lovely stay in a peaceful place

    Heidi2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was above expectations. Such a cute and thoughtful space to stay in and the hot tub was heavenly. We came during a very drizzly and cold weekend but it still felt like a little patch of heaven. We were greeted upon arrival (after Janet kindly directed us over the phone) and shown how to use everything. We got a pub dinner nearby (walked to it) and spent the whole evening in the tub. We can't wait to come back in summer.

  • The Shepherd’s Hut is situated in a very private part of the owner’s land. Very peaceful and quiet with far reaching views of Raglan castle. The hot tub is to be enjoyed and an added bonus. Well equipped for such a compact space, with lots of thoughtful touches. Good pubs in Raglan for eating out .

    Greg2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a relaxing place to stay, quiet location but not far from shops or places to visit for dinner. Would 100% visit again!

    Charlie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my husband,my friend and her boyfriend plus our dog Mary stayed from Friday to sunday. We have had the best time. The huts have everything you need and so cute. The two huts side by side are ideal. The hot tub is unreal and Janet comes by to make sure the fire is still burning for the hot tub while your out. We have honestly had the best weekend. There are fairy lights every where and although we had a wet and muddy weekend it didn't matter because the place is so great. The ship inn is a 15 min walk and it's a great pub and food is unreal. Janet is fab and so lovely ..defo recommend and will be back. Thank you Emily, Gareth, Rosie,Matt and Mary the collie x

Just 10 minutes by car from Abergavenny but a peaceful country retreat. Simple, modern log cabin with open plan sitting/kitchen/dining with double sofa bed & a double bedroom and bathroom. Away from it all: 50 metres from the farmhouse, away from the road and screened by trees. There are board games, books, toys etc. Garden furniture for sitting out. Farm to wander over. Animals to see. Good places to eat out. Walking in the hills.
The cabin is in the back garden screened by trees from the house. It looks out over fields and gardens. There is one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa that turns into a good size double in the main living space. The kitchen has a fridge, kettle, toaster, small oven/grill, two ring induction hob (new in response to guest feedback). Lots of bowls, pans, plates, cups etc. Please ask if you need anything else. We provide a few cooking essentials like salt and pepper, mixed herbs and sugar. In the bedroom is a full length mirror, hair dryer, iron, lots of hooks for hanging clothes up and some shelves. The bathroom has shower, toilet and basin and a heated towel rail. We provide towels. A travel cot and a high chair are available. The accommodation may suit a couple, a couple with one or two children, or two couples. Wi-Fi is available in the conservatory in the farmhouse or it can be accessed from outside when its warmer. Mobile phone signals are erratic--some people get much better reception than others. The thick pine wood walls offer excellent insulation. Electric heating and electric blanket are available if needed so the cabin can be used all year.
The farm is set in a valley just 10 minutes out of Abergavenny but a world away from the town. We are near the Brecon Beacons National Park and surrounded by farm land where traditional dairy, beef and sheep farms are interspersed with holdings for horses and some chicken farms. There are lots of possibilities for walking, cycling, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities locally in the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding countryside. There's a cycle/walking tarmac path up an old railway line leading from Llanffoist to Bryn Mawr (with a gap). It's easy to walk to Govilon up this track then walk back along the canal towpath to Llanffoist. There’s a short walk to the top of the Little Skirrid directly from the farm. Abergavenny is a lively country town. The main market is on Tuesdays. It's worth visiting the Market Hall just to see the huge decorations which go up each year for the Food Festival. Smaller markets happen over the week. There are quite a few independent shops, loads of places to have coffee, some good places to eat. There's a small, modern two screen cinema (for an old fashioned cinema feel try the Savoy in Monmouth or the Working Men's Club in Blaenavon). The attractive 300+ seat Borough Theatre is housed upstairs from the Market Hall.
  • The cabin is great! And the location is really good! Lots of great places to visit and the landscape is fantastic

    Oscar2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin had everything you need to relax and unwind for a few days, lovely country walks right on the doorstep with Abergavenny only a few minutes drive away. Tessa is a fantastic host and was very welcoming-we would definitely stay again!

    Jodi2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place very cozy and sparkling clean. Tessa and Chris were amazing hosts. Our little one loved the farm animals. We would love to stay again.

  • A place to relax and enjoy. Our boys want to come back.

    Gregor2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying in Tessa's cabin, it was clean, plenty of games, outdoor space for kids and Tessa was an excellent host.

  • A basic but cosy cabin with everything you need. The board games and books kept us entertained in the evening, and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was perfect for the areas we were visiting. I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Wendy2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cabin for a weekend with our two daughters ages 17months and 3weeks. The cabin was toddler friendly, there is a swing and slide in the garden and Tessa kindly provided a travel cot, there are also some toys and books that were an unexpected bonus! There was plenty of space for us all and everything we needed to have a relaxing time. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and we had a wonderful time. Definitely recommend for families with young children who want a quiet getaway that is toddler friendly.

    Jerilyn2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place for our family to spend the weekend! The cabin is open and bright, and we all slept well. We made good use of the little kitchen - it worked brilliantly for our simple supper. The farm is beautiful and our children (all of us, really) were in love with everything. Our hosts very kindly invited us to participate in a few of the more fun farm chores, and we said yes to every opportunity! One afternoon we drove the few minutes into charming Abergavenny, and the children wanted nothing to do with it because they wanted to get back to the farm. A wonderful place to stay! Highly recommended!

Stable Court is the former coach house. Access to this private apartment is by a covered stairway which leads into a spacious sitting and dining area with a high vaulted ceiling and original features. There is a large bedroom with three single beds, a double bedroom with en-suite toilet. 2 well behaved dogs are able to stay at a small charge, before booking please contact us regarding this. Outside there is a communal garden to enjoy with outdoor eating area and 200 acres of estate to explore.
Stable Court, as its name suggests, sits in the old stable yard to the west of the big house. With its climbing roses, worn red sandstone walls and gentle planting, the recently landscaped yard has the feeling of an old quad. For eating out, there's a picnic table in the front garden or a long table in the archway under the clock tower which is perfect if the weather is not so good. The self-contained apartment is accessed via a covered stairway which leads into a large sitting and dining room, a light and airy space with period features and a high-beamed ceiling. Off this room is a generous bedroom with three single beds, perfect for the younger members of a family to share. A small separate kitchen and bathroom are also located on this floor. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with its own toilet. The big house is a grand but kindly old place, lived in by the same family for over 200 years. you will undoubtedly stumble across one of the youngsters who lives there zipping up the drive on their bike with a Jack Russell in hot pursuit. The estate is within easy reach of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and Black Mountains and there are castles galore on the doorstep.
  • We were searching for a place to stay in Monmouthshire for a short family break, and as soon as I saw stable court with its characterful decor and expansive grounds as part of the old lands estate, I knew we’d found the right place. The house itself is clean, plenty big enough for 5, and full of charm. Especially appreciated was the lovely outside seating area. But what really made it extra special was the setting. The cottage is within the grounds of a large country estate and you can enjoy free roam of the whole place. It’s well located on the edge of the Forest of Dean with lovely walking and tons of castles to visit. But to be honest, it’s a bit of a wrench to leave the grounds of the estate. There’s a letterboxing trail (kind of like a treasure hunt), two ponds and a boating lake. A free guided nature walk including pond dipping for newts was a real highlight on our last day. Totally recommend this as a great place to stay for relaxing and soaking up the beautiful surroundings. In comparison with other places I looked at it’s great value for money. Enjoy!

  • A lovely place in a beautiful setting. Clare and Sam run Old lands with great care and consideration - and helped us on every front - on the day of our daughters graduation found us a dog sitter so we could enjoy the whole day out. We very much enjoyed the shop which is stocked every morning with fresh produce from the estates own walled garden. Sam’s nature walks around the estate are not to be missed to discover a world of minute creatures. He has been returning cultivated land to wild flower meadows, providing new habitats for wild life, creating a model natural environment. Our grown up family all loved it, though it would be exceptionally nice for young children. We rarely ventured further afield, we were so happy, eating outside, cooling off on a warm evening with a row on the lake. I don’t think any holiday could have suited us better. Roger

  • Our stay at Old Lands was absolutely incredible. It is a very quiet, relaxing place to sit back, relax and recuperate after many days of driving on our vacation. The entire flat at Stable Court was decorated in historical, yet lovely fashion. The beds were super comfortable and the amenities available were too many to describe. Sam and Clare are just wonderful hosts. Thank you again!

Horseshoes, Old Lands' former stables, has beamed bedrooms, a cosy sitting room and dining area, and a well equipped kitchen and private courtyard garden. On site there's a local produce shop, a children's Forest School and 200 acres to roam in. Also we have Liam & Emma who offer massage & personal training.

For eating out, a long table in the archway under the clock tower is the perfect spot. On the ground floor of the cottage there's an open plan sitting room and dining area leading into a well equipped kitchen. The original stable box wooden panels and stone wall divide the space which opens into your own private courtyard garden with BBQ and seating. You can park your car just the other side of the garden fence gate. There's also a toilet on the ground floor. Upstairs are three comfy bedrooms with beamed ceilings and basic modern bathrooms/ toilets (a double bedroom with shower and toilet, a twin bedroom with toilet, and a single room adjacent to a shared bathroom and separate toilet). • We had a great 10 day stay at Old Lands. Coming from North America, it provides a wonderful opportunity to stay in. a Welsh country estate. Cozy furnishings, beautiful Welsh textiles, convenient honesty shop and friendly people from the owners to other staff. The grounds are nice for a stroll, or weather permitting, a row on the lake - alas, for us the weather didn’t cooperate. We used Old Lands as a base for exploring many castles, abbeys, towns and pubs in the area. Highlights were Raglan (nice little onsite cafe), Chepstow, Skenfrith, and Usk castles. World Heritage Site of Blaenavon, and Roman site at Caerleon are must sees. Also the Lion pub in Trellech! Spectacular circle drive to Hay-on-Wye and back - amazing scenery!! It was always great to come back to Horseshoes at Old Lands and relax in the evening. We also enjoyed some meals catered by Penny - a great partnership with Old Lands. Thanks Sam, Clare and Amanda!!

  • Beautiful, quiet and private setting. Stylish, clean and quaint cottage. We absolutely loved our trip -- Sam gave us great suggestions on local hiking as well as activities on the property. Our kids LOVED letter boxing and it gave us something to do in the evenings after we had finished exploring the surrounding areas. Coming from the U.S., we liked that the cottage was centrally located to a lot of great attractions (Tintern Abbey, Highclere Castle, Bath, Cotswolds, Gower Coast, Brecon Beacons, etc). Wonderful place to stay for a family!!!

Staying at the Old Land Estate is an incredible experience all onto itself. It’s in a great location to be able to easily see the attractions in England and Wales. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to stay there for our trip.

  • This is a lovely converted barn with 3 good bedrooms. The cottage is great and well equipped and feels like home. We chose it because it was near to a wedding we were going to. But we discovered that the REAL reason to stay here is all about the grounds and the amazing focus on nature which the owners have nurtured. There are lovely walks through the parklands and fields, around the lake (where you can row too), and amongst their kitchen gardens and animals. The owner Sam is a serious naturalist and took us on a nature walk where he dipped ponds and caught insects and moths - this was full of gems of knowledge and fascinating creatures. It would be a great place to bring children, or to get some peace and quiet away from the world.

  • A lovely three bedroomed five person self-contained cottage. Spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. Sam and Clare communicated brilliantly and openly and made sure all was ok. Lovely too that Sam spent so.much time on arrival talking us through things. Beautiful grounds very safe and generally just the best time. I even ate the spinach bought from the honesty shop. If you're looking for a break in mid-Wales this is a place to check out.

  • Old Lands is a great place to stay. Clare and Sam are excellent hosts. Communication before travelling is excellent and in our case they could even arrange Christmas decorations (tree and other green) in the house (Horseshoe)! The house is well equipped, many bathrooms, lovely mix of old furniture and modern styling and spotless. The Old Lands around Dingstowe Court (the main house) are great to stroll. The area is of outstanding beauty and you can do many things in the area: we played lots of golf, but there are many opportunities for walking, biking, fishing etc etc. We'll certainly return to this lovely place.

  • A lovely property in gorgeous surroundings. We played tennis and rowed on the lake. Fabulous. The accommodation was ideal. Very comfortable, and all amenities provided. Kitchen and bathrooms all well equipped and beds very comfy. Excellent all round. We loved it.

Dating back to 1752 this rustic Granary has been sympathetically converted to retain its original features. Perfect for chilling out or walking, set in our family farmland with direct access to Offas Dyke footpath. Dramatic high ceiling oak beamed bedroom with ensuite. Cosy low beamed kitchen/diner with wood burning stove. The sunroom/lounge makes the very most of natural sunlight with rural farm views.
The dramatic high oak beamed ceiling of the bedroom provides a unique space combined with the modern convenience of an ensuite bathroom. The cosy kitchen/diner (originally where corn was ground in 1752), has a range of modern kitchen appliances including coffee machine. The wood burning stove is available for romantic evenings in and the sun room/lounge makes the most of sunny days.
The nearest village is about a three minute drive away or a pleasant twenty minute stroll across the fields. The local village pub has a great restaurant or bar meals and is open every day.
  • My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully unique barn conversion. The space was spotlessly clean and has all the necessary amenities. Fresh bread, jams and butter were provided (delicious, thanks!) as well as tea, coffee and fresh milk. The log burner made the space really warm and cosy as it was a chilly night. The hosts were very welcoming and were on hand to help with anything we needed. A very peaceful and relaxing stay in the Welsh countryside, I highly recommend staying here!

  • The Granary is a great place in a beautiful location. Caroline was a fantastic host and even lit the log burner for us! The Granary has everything you need for a relaxing stay with stunning views. Would highly recommend 😁

  • Thank you so much for our lovely stay, all we wanted was peace, quiet, and beautiful surroundings which we got, the log burner kept us cosy and we had everything that we needed. Would 100% recommend ♥️

  • A great host, great place, great location. What else is there to say!? Will definitely stay again!

  • We travelled to The Granary in ‘Storm Dennis’ and so very glad we did. It was warm, cosy, spotlessly clean and filled with character. Caroline came over to welcome us, she is absolutely lovely and made us feel so at home. Fantastic location for walking from the door, across owners land to Offa’s Dyke trail past the very vocal donkey 😀 but we spent hours in the spacious sun room enjoying the antics of the hens, the sheep and the hawks soaring overhead. On a clear night we gazed through the roof at the amazing dark skies....incredible!! This place exceeded all our expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

    David2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We didn’t arrive until around 7pm. The host came out to greet us and explained what was in the house. She had already lit the fire so we were toasty warm straight away which was really thoughtful. There were also roses on the bed as it was Valentines weekend and roses in vases. The pub down the road we were recommended was brilliant. The pictures don’t do the place justice. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone. Perfect for a couples night away. :)

Fully furnished holiday cottage with BBQ and separate garden.
Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 3 miles of us . The town's of Abergavenny and Monmouth are only about 7 miles away both of which have cinemas and theatres. There are Castles and Abbeys to visit locally . The town of Bleanavon has a mining museum where you can also go down into the old mines with guided tours. The Brecon Beacons are not far away for those that like to walk there is also the Sugar Loaf and the Black Mountains locally , the walk along the local canal in Abergavenny can also be completed while trying out the canal boat rides for those that prefer it . Coarse fishing can also be catered for locally
  • This cottage is very large and nicely laid out. It's in a lovely quiet spot, yet extremely accessible. I stayed for work so I didn't get out but there are plenty of attractions very close by. I would recommend abergavenny town, walks up the mountains or The Big pit is also surprisingly interesting. Also close by is Raglan play barn and farm which is awsome for kids. The cottage had everything I needed and I would definitely stay again. Thanks! Wendy

They made it clear that if there was anything we needed they would supply it however the bunkhouse was so well equipped, we didn't need anything extra from them. They provided us with maps of the surrounding areas with different ideas for walks and places to eat/ drink. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely go back again.

Welcome to my home. I live in Llangattock Lingoed, a little hamlet just 5 miles from Abergavenny and 15 miles from Monmouth. Come and stay in my lovely, spacious, private guest room; and fabulous views. It's just a two minute walk to the local 13th century village inn, which serves great food every day. For walkers, the Offa's Dyke path is at the bottom of my garden. Dogs are very welcome here; light breakfast included; cooked breakfast available on request (£8pp)
Your room has lovely views over the garden and beyond to Skirrid Mountain. Sleep in an original Victorian brass bedstead with luxurious Egyptian cotton linens. TV, DVD (with films supplied), towels and bathroom smellies all included... no need to bring your own! There's a separate dressing room with loads of hanging space plus everything you need to make yourself a drink or light breakfast. The 'fridge is perfect for chilling water, wine and beer! The downstairs sitting room, with sofas and an enormous TV, is reserved just for you. If you choose a cooked breakfast, you can have it served in your room or in my kitchen looking out over the fields. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the the room... but please... not on the furniture or bed, or in the bath! Scrummy homemade Welsh cakes on arrival; come and say hello.
Don't think the countryside isn't for you, there's loads to do here! We have great walks from our door, including Offa's Dyke, plus fabulous local churches and castles to visit if they're your thing. For foodies, there are renowned - and Michelin starred - eateries, notably The Walnut Tree Inn (Shaun Hill) and The Hardwick (Stephen Terry). Our local pub is great too, very dog friendly and within easy staggering distance! Our mobile home is located on the edge of our farm in rural south east Wales. It's a fully self contained centrally heated home with living area, kitchen, bathroom, terrace and two bedrooms (one double and one twin beds) plus a pull-out sofa-bed in the living room. The large living area has lovely views out over the rolling hills and nearby welsh mountains. We have a working farm with beef cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, and three friendly alpacas (Alfie, Albert and Bertie).
We are a working farm we enjoy showing our guests around and explaining about our animals and how we care for them. Only happy animals here! The home is stocked with toiletries, towels and bed linen. We provide a fruit bowl, our award winning free range eggs, bread, milk, squash and breakfast essentials. We can also provide fresh meat from our farm (bacon, burgers, steaks, etc), perfect for the BBQ. Let us know what you'd like and we'll be happy to provide these at any point in your stay for a small extra charge.
The mobile home is in rural Wales between Monmouth and Abergavenny. There is plenty of walking and hiking in the local area, lovely local restaurants and pubs, plenty to do with children from water slides to a butterly zoo!
  • Lovely farm stay. Bring your wellies and enjoy the views and meet the animals. Brilliant hosts, just really genuine people who clearly love what they do and care for their animals. Plenty of space and all you need for a restful stay.

  • A small bungalow perfect for a family stay. Being surrounded by animals, being able to go see them, touch them, Rosemary's explanations. Close to major sites to visit.

  • Having read previous reviews we already knew that our children would enjoy the experience of staying on and seeing the animals on the farm. However, Rosemary and Adrian went above and beyond to talk to us about and let us see all the animals. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and will definitely look to go back again. The accommodation is well located to explore the local area. It is well priced and a great find with a lovely family feel.

  • We had a wonderful time staying on the farm. The caravan was excellent, just what we needed to keep out of the cold - cosy and inviting. Rosemary and Adrian (and Adrian's Dad!) were very welcoming and friendly and our son had a lovely time seeing the animals and getting filthy! 😁 I honestly did not want to leave - it's the perfect place to unwind and forget about normal life for a bit. We hope to be back again sometime to see more of the area when the weather is warmer!

Idyllic situation in attractive village just 4 miles from Abergavenny with views of the Brecon Beacons and many walks and bike rides along quiet roads, from the door. Own entrance, to private accommodation, comprising sitting room with wood burner, upstairs landing area with kitchenette, table and chairs, shower room, and one beautiful beamed double bedroom. Breakfast ingredients are provided ( bread, butter, jams, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, milk, tea and coffee, many home made and local)
The accommodation is attached to the end of our house, but has its own private entrance, and garden area for your use. It is a characterful old cottage with low beams, sympathetically restored using recycled original materials and individually crafted fixtures and fittings. The kitchenette area is there to provide coffee and tea etc when you want it, and to help yourself to the breakfast items provided. It is not intended as a food preparation area. For your convenience we provide a small fridge and a microwave oven.
Abergavenny and surrounding area has many fine restaurants and gastronomic pubs. Unfortunately the village we live in does not have a shop or pub. It is a very small village. Many good walks and cycle routes both from the door and in the nearby Brecon Beacons, Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Historical interest and the many local castles of the welsh marches, and more modern industrial history of the coal and Iron industry in the welsh valleys. There are several small market towns within an hours radius which are pleasant and interesting to visit, such as Monmouth, Crickhowell, Hay on Wye, Ross on Wye. Cardiff and Hereford are larger and both about an hour away.
  • Thank you Caroline for a marvellous stay - I loved the thoughtful 'eco' ideas, and the cottage is so relaxing, cosy, peaceful and comfortable, with very attractive decor and finishing touches.

  • We had a lovely stay at Crispin Cottage. Some excellent homemade foods, in a good location close to the town and a very welcoming host!

    Scott2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start? There are so many positive things to say about our stay! From an already lit fire when we checked in to specially made chocolates for our Valentine's stay, Caroline and Mark put in every effort to make our stay perfect. We had some bad luck with flooding due to a storm, but one of their friendly neighbours helped deilver us safely to the cottage. Caroline kindly offered to cook us some pizzas when we thought we wouldn't be able to get back out, and brought round candles later when there was a power cut. In the end it was the perfect place to cosy away from the weather with a board game and a glass of wine. The cottage was quaint and homely, with nice decor just like the pictures. We particularly liked the homemade touches around the house, including wax food wraps which were a nice eco-friendly addition. The food was of course delicious, the freshly baked bread and cake, homemade yougurt and fruit compote, and tasty granola. Much of which you could buy if you wanted to take some home with you. We had a lovely romantic weekend and would definitely return, either as a couple or with friends!

  • Crispin Cottage is absolutely delightful! The living room with the log fire is so cosy and the perfect place to unwind after a days exploring or hiking. The main bedroom is really spacious, with a super comfortable bed, plenty of closet space for clothes and luggage and great black out blinds/curtains. The bathroom is very clean with an amazing shower! You won’t want to get out! The kitchenette area is lovely and compact with homemade breakfast goodies left by Caroline such as freshly made bead, scones, yoghurt, granola plus milk, fruit and tea/coffee of all varieties. This was my first experience of using air bnb and I could not have been more impressed! We will certainly return

Welcome to The Potting Shed! A cosy couples retreat, renovated to a very high standard, with many funky features and fantastic attention to detail. Just a stroll away from our friendly, foodie village pub, right on Offa’s Dyke path. It’s a special place, nestled in its own little corner of my garden, with an emphasis on luxury and lovely things. Transformed from my everyday potting shed, it’s now a spacious, warm and welcoming hideaway for two which I’m very proud of.
The Potting Shed is a great place to relax and de-stress. Kick off your shoes and curl up on the sofa; relax upstairs with a gorgeous view of the garden; or pop out onto your private terrace to watch the sun go down. Standing in the grounds of my home in the quiet village of Llangattock Lingoed, The Potting Shed has a fully-equipped kitchen; luxury double bedroom; snuggly goose down duvet and traditional Welsh blankets. It’s right on Offa’s Dyke path, a stone’s throw from our local inn and just 9 miles from the market town of Abergavenny. Our brilliant village Inn offers good food, fine wines and real ales; and you’re likely to get drawn into a chat with the locals too! Available for minimum 2-night stays and open all year, The Potting Shed is the ideal country hideaway for couples. • We would definately recommend this as a perfect place to get away from the busyness of life. We went to the Potting Shed for 3 nights with our small Spaniel and hibernated from the world. There was no signal on phones in the accomodation so no phone distractions. While we were there the weather was quite stormy but the Potting Shed was lovely and bright and warm inside and felt very cosy in the evenings. When we ventured out for a walk there was lots of fields surrounding for the dog to run around in. The kitchen was well equipped so we had everything needed to stay in and cook meals, although there was a very nice looking pub about 30second walk away. Thoroughly recommend. Thank you Brenda! Pip, Dan and Daisy x

  • This has become our favourite retreat spot now, we absolutely loved our stay here and wished we could’ve stayed longer. The Potting Shed is stylish and cosy. The kitchen had all the stuff we’d need to cook for ourselves, but there’s also a lovely pub at the end of the lane that serve great food and beers & wine. We can’t wait to be back!

    Johanna2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing beautiful space...in an amazing beautiful place. Such attention to detail with beautiful little luxurious touches...including the delicious Welsh cakes...such a treat! Loved the local pub...literally 2mins walk away. Fantastic staff...lovely ambience...and amazing food!!!! Can't wait to come back....thank you so much Brenda.

    Jim2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, that’s been lovingly done up. Great location for exploring! The comfiest bed, and great shower! The WiFi didn’t work, but wasn’t too much of an issue for us! But with no signal, be sure to pack plenty of books!

    Yasmin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the Potting Shed, which is stylishly designed, very comfortable and in an excellent rural spot for walking. It worked really well as a place to unwind and recharge with our dog. We were grateful of the directions sheet for three local walks. Thanks Brenda, we can’t wait to return.

  • We stayed at Clock Cottage as a base for hiking in the Black Mountains - for which is is very conveniently located. The cottage was a perfect haven after we had been battered by storms on the ridges. The log burner makes the whole cottage toasty warm, the bathroom has a massive shower and deep bath for warming up and relaxing, and the bed is extremely comfortable. It was very difficult to leave! Highly recommended.

    Andrew2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful little hideaway in the beautiful Welsh countryside. The accommodation was perfect for what we wanted and look forward to returning again soon. Thank you Julian!

    Sara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is lovely, perfectly situated for a quiet country escape. The communication is amazing and Julian really makes the place very welcoming. We were left little chocolates on the bed and some breakfast things, so we could just arrive and settle in and not have to worry about shopping. The fire was set up and ready to light as well which was perfect as it was getting frosty when we arrived. We made a booking at the walnut tree restaurant which is pricey but lovely for a special treat. They do a more reasonably priced lunch menu (£32 fir three courses) which Julian recommended to us when I asked about the walnut tree. The kitchen is very well equipped and has everything you could need. I would recommend a stay here. I would love to return here.

Situated in the idyllic countryside of Monmouthshire lies Court Robert, a historically rich farmhouse which is now home to a locally renowned sculpture garden. This cosy twin room has been recently fitted with a new private en-suite. Your stay will include breakfast, which we recommend enjoying at the window table with the beautiful Welsh countryside. Room Facilities: Toaster, kettle and complimentary tea/coffee. En-suite with shower. Bedding and towels are provided. Free onsite parking.
This cosy twin room with en-suite is perfect for a short stay for art lovers and walkers alike. Stroll around the sculpture garden and art gallery on site or venture further afield. The Brecon Beacons and Wye Valley are just short drives away or visit local historic sites such as Raglan Castle. Court Robert is a history rich farmhouse dating back to around 1600. You'll find many quirky features around the property, including a farming competition certificate dating from the 1930's. In 2016, Court Robert was taken over by Alex Brown, painter and Christine Baxter, sculptor. Now, Court Robert is a quality renowned sculpture garden and art gallery and has several working artists studios on site. Also situated at Court Robert is Lemon Studios Arts School Ltd, directed by Alex Brown. Guests will have unlimited free access to the sculpture garden and art gallery. They may also access the working artist studios daily, 10am-4pm. There is ample free parking on site.
The surrounding area to Court Robert is tranquil. However, we are just a short distance from many country pubs and local amenities including a pharmacy, garage and post office. Court Robert is located between Abergavenny and Monmouth, two ancient market towns. There are several fantastic walks accessible from Court Robert. From the driveway you are able to see the legendary Skirrid Mountain, home to St. Michael's Church at its summit. We're also lucky to be surrounded by significant historic sites, including; Usk Castle, White Castle and Raglan Castle- the childhood home of King Henry VII.
  • If you are an artist or creative in any way you will love this place. Quiet, peaceful, surrounded by art and culture. Your hosts are educated and talented artists who know how to add those little touches to make a room/house special. I was warm, comfortable and as an added bonus had their cat move in with me. He does not come with the room, but if you appreciate a furry, four legged companion, he is definitely available. I was requiring somewhere quiet at a reasonable price, to get some writing done. This was perfect. In addition breakfast was left on a tray for me each morning. I could sit by the window and look out across the fields, eat a croissant and settle down to work with no disturbance. It is about a two mile walk to the local town of Raglan. Where there was a very popular pub with good pub meals, and a local shop with everything you need and freshly baked cakes each morning. Rhaglan castle also worth visiting - 5 minutes by car or again a lovely walk. The only negative while I was there, was that roads in the area were flooded due to heavy rain, and as a result closed. Walking also became difficult as cars were being redirected onto the small lanes. But if you want somewhere peaceful, warm, with an amazing ambiance in an artists home, and value for money this is a definite yes. The photos do not do it justice.

    Linda2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to visit for art lovers, collectors and painting and sculpture students. Ideal place to stay if you want to take some painting or sculpture classes with Alex Brown or Christine Baxter (sign up online). Every corner of Court Roberts is a work of art in itself, indoors and outdoors. Lovely laid back atmosphere, warm and welcoming hosts, surrounded by nature and open fields.

    Tanya2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful scenery and very peaceful! Lovely area and some beautiful art and sculptures to look at! Hosts were very warm and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you! Will definitely recommend!

    Jonathan2019-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Deeply rural setting, but good eateries nearby. Accommodation not 'plush' (I didn't want plush), but perfectly satisfactory. Comfortable, and all that I wanted and needed.

    Vernon2019-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved staying here! The sculpture courtyard and art gallery on-site were great to walk around, and there’s loads to do in the area, like Raglan Castle and Tintern Abbey. Both Alex and Christine were really accommodating. I enjoyed croissants for breakfast, overlooking the pleasant garden. I highly recommend staying here for a weekend away. I look forward to visiting them again soon.

It was a fabulous getaway, the place was close to the pub, just a three minute walk, and in a beautiful village close to Abergavenny and the Black Mountains. The place itself was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean making it the perfect retreat to escape, chat, relax and base ourselves for a few walks and a little R&R. Thank you Brenda!

With great views of the Skirrid mountain and only a stone’s throw away from the famous “Skirrid Fawr walk” a mountain of mud and myths. • My family (4 of us) stayed at Karen's apartment for 1 week. We were greeted by Karen and her 2 very friendly dogs at the gate. Karen and Nigel are two very lovely and accommodating hosts who treated us to homemade bread, 2 bottles of wine, cookies, cheese, and fresh eggs from their hens upon our arrival. I loved looking out the kitchen window at the sheep grazing in the meadow. The apartment is only minutes away from the town of Abergavenny, a town full of shops, grocery stores, pubs and coffee shops. The area is really beautiful and great hiking is minutes away from the apartment. Thank you to Karen and Nigel for being so helpful and quick to answer all our questions. Rhea and Dave

Set just a short drive from Abergavenny, a lovely town with all the amenities you could need, Karen and Nigel’s place is on the doorstep of beautiful walks, and a short drive to many wonderful sites, including castles. • Fantastic place! The apartment is very homely and comfortable with a cosy, modern feel. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of space for 2 couples to happily spend the weekend! Karen and Nigel were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you for all the little touches! Only being a short drive away from Abergavenny (10 mins) is also very useful. If you enjoy walking then definitely explore and climb the Skirrid - it’s a sight to behold from the summit!

  • Our weekend didn't go to plan because of Storm Ciara. However, this place made it so much better! After a very stormy wet hike, nothing was better than being in front of the fire watching Netflix. The views from the property were amazing, and not far from all the popular hikes and towns. Joanna was very lovely and accommodating and the cats were a bonus welcome! Thank you for a lovely stay. Would definitely be back xx

  • This beautiful converted stable with great views was the perfect place for to unwind and relax. The place is so cosy. We loved the log burner and views of little lambs running around in the fields just outside.

    Emily2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem of a place! It was beautiful. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed. We got the fire roaring within minutes, and Jeremy popped some extra logs down to us when we asked. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and so tastefully decorated we left with serious bathroom envy! The hosts had left a bottle of fizz, and had provided things for breakfast (bacon, bread, butter and milk) and there was even a nespresso machine. The hot tub is a very nice addition, but it is round the back of the property up a gravel path so pack your flip flops! I just wish we were staying for more than 2 nights.

  • Jeremy’s place is wonderful. It’s in such a lovely cottage with beautiful views from the hot tub (especially with a clear sky at night 💫). We loved the kitchen area and cooked our own food when the weather wasn’t so nice to venture out. Sorted out a water pressure issue straight away (it was 10pm)! The most helpful host. Would 10000% stay again for a relaxing couple of days away with not much signal. Perfect for half term!

  • Stunning accommodation with a stunning view. Would highly recommend!

    Stewart2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Stables was a beautiful place to stay. It was very clean with lovely views, and although we had bad weather there was plenty to keep us occupied indoors. Jeremy was very informative and there were lots of recommendations for the area in the information pack provided at the property. I would definitely stay again!

    Ellie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • what a treat to find, luxurious and cosy, Jeremy was very helpful with any questions we had. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, so tranquil and remote. loved our stay here :-)

Double bedroom with private shower room, lounge, dining room & access to garden. The house is in a stunning rural location surrounded by farmland. It's incredibly peaceful. There is no light pollution and the darkness gives amazing views of the night sky. Just outside the eastern end of the Brecon Beacons National Park, we're in a great location for exploring the Black Mountains and Wye Valley. The Central Beacons and Waterfall Country are easily commutable and less than an hour’s drive away.
Our guest accommodation consists of a lovely double bedroom, an immediately adjacent private shower room and sole use of lovely downstairs living and dining rooms in a renovated character property. The lounge is cosy and comfortable with two leather sofas, a TV with Sky and a log burning stove. The adjacent dining room is light and airy. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in your room and the kitchen. We have a large garden that you're welcome to wander in. We'd suggest taking in the sunset with a glass of wine in a spot that takes your fancy. We're happy to provide garden chairs or a picnic blanket. Breakfast is provided and is served in your dining room. We are happy to supply evening meals as served to the family for a small extra charge. Happy to discuss what you'd like to eat and to be flexible on meat, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. Alternatively, there are a number of good eateries a short drive away. We'd recommend the Hardwick, the Beaufort Arms or the Clytha Arms for the food and the setting. Happy to discuss bookings for a single night rather than a minimum of two - just drop us a line. As first-aid qualified walk leaders, we are also able to offer full or half-day guided walks in the Brecon Beacons National Park in addition to accommodation. A bespoke itinerary can be designed to suit your requirements and fitness. Costings; - full days walking including a packed lunch and transport £120 for two people. - half-days walking including lunch and transport £75 for two people. If this is something you’re interested in, please message us with the date you’d like to arrange and we will set up an AirBnB experience for you in addition to your accommodation.
From the garden, you can see the Blorenge, Skirrid Fawr, Skirrid Fach and the Sugarloaf, and all are a short drive away. Situated ten minutes outside Abergavenny, we are ideally located for the Food Festival and for exploring the town. We would thoroughly recommend the indoor market, afternoon tea at the Angel Hotel or the Sugarloaf Vineyards. We are also easily commutable to the lovely town of Crickhowell. An easy commute for the Hay Festival and ideally situated for the Crickhowell Walking Festival, Hay Walking Festival, Green Man Festival and others.
  • fabulous find, old Welsh farm house with bags of charm, warm, friendly and a stunning location - the hosts were so welcoming and happy to help to make our stay super special. Fab breakfast. Fab views, fab real fire, fab dog - Fab everything - We will certainly be back

  • Great communication and excellent hosts. The house, food and their generosity was outstanding. Their knowledge of the hills was very helpful when looking at walking/running routes considering the weather. Would definitely go back without question.

  • Emma is delightful. Her breakfasts were delish, and the over and above “taxi” service to and from the food festival was brilliant. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for Good Festival accom. And the bed ... very comfortable.

  • Remote location, beautiful countryside, friendly, fantastic hosts, plentiful breakfast, great private lounge and dining area

    Brenton2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful few days in the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Emma and Hugh are such wonderful hosts; incredibly welcoming and thoughtful throughout our stay. From the moment we booked we had great communication with Emma, highlighting everything we needed to know and enabling us a late arrival time from London. The house is set in a remote area on the outskirts of Abergavenny. Beautiful! The perfect place to explore both the Brecon Beacons to the west for our day of archery and an ascent of Pen y Fan, to the Forest of Dean to the East for a day of canoeing from Ross-on-Wye to Symonds Yat. And the breakfasts...well, what can we say? A feast fit for adventurers out to explore for the day. Delicious and plentiful, we simply couldn't believe this was included i the price. Delightful touches and great conversations. Thank you Emma for a wonderful few days. Highly recommended, without doubt!

    Sean2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Emma is an exceptionally attentive host, ensuring our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. The house is spacious and rooms are clean. Her local knowledge made our stay more interesting. Would highly recommend this place!

    David2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing stay - the situation and the house are stunning as are the breakfasts! No need for a packed lunch. From the firs communication to the care over detail when staying there, this was a fantastic experience. Emma and Huw were delightful hosts adding to the ambience and enjoyment of the visit. They have a wealth of local knowledge regarding where to eat and interesting places to visit, walk or cycle. The house in a quiet location (sat nav needed, but no problem to find) is not far from Abergavenny (10 mins) and fantastic scenery. The vineyard is a must visit and the small town of Crickhowell too. Attention to detail and the quality of material from - food to shower gel- ensured a luxurious stay which was exceptional for the price. Recommended without reservation.

    Alan2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful old house tucked away in the welsh countryside just a stones throw from the highlights of the Brecon Beacons. Despite being quite late to arrive we were made to feel very welcome and the dinner provided was very tasty and plentiful. The Breakfasts were very well provisioned too. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless and very comfortable, with tea/coffee making facilities provided too. Our hosts were also very happy to share their extensive knowledge of the local area with a wealth of tips and recommendations. Thank you for a very relaxing and refreshing break. We would definately recommend staying here.

Chapel Cottage Shepherds Hut is a cosy, comfortable space for up to two guests to enjoy a get away in a peaceful, rural location close to the Brecon Beacons near Abergavenny.
The Shepherds Hut is a cosy space for up to two guests (and well behaved pets) and offers a comfortable double bed, small kitchen with hot and cold running water, kettle, toaster, single ring hot plate, tiny fridge (just for milk!), log burner and electric heater plus shower room/toilet and a small balcony/veranda for cups of tea with a view!
The Hut is around 1/4 mile away from the very quiet village of Llanddewi Rhydderch which has no shops or pubs but you will find a small park on the village green. We are a great base for walking in the Brecon Beacons with the Skirrid, Sugar Loaf and Blorenge mountains just a few minutes drive away. The National Cycle Network Route 42 runs through Llanddewi Rhydderch providing great routes for cyclists. We are 4 miles outside of Abergavenny, a bustling market town with a good range of independent shops and restaurants, a theatre, castle and museum and hosts a popular annual Food Festival. Abergavenny has our nearest bus/train stations. We are also within an hours drive of Cardiff and Hereford as well as lots of lovely local towns such as Crickhowell, Usk, Brecon and the National Heritage Site at Brynmawr.
  • We enjoy staying here so much that this was actually our second visit. I do a fair bit of staying in this type of accommodation and the Shepherds Hut is the best use of a small space ever! Every little thing is thought off and everything has a space and a place in the living area plus there is an excellent en-suite bathroom. We also had a wonderful welcome basket of wine, cookies, crisps, pesto, pasta and a festive bowl of quality street which was a lovely touch! If you want peace, views, friendly relaxed hosts and a great location for the many local walks and market town of Abergavenny then this is the place to stay for me. Highly recommended and will no doubt return for a third stay.

  • We felt really taken care of. Nicola did way more than we could dream of. She picked us up from the station, brought us to a restaurant in town and also back to town when leaving. Eventhough she was sick! Also took care of amazing vegetarian snacks at arrival and a wonderful breakfast. We loved the cat Louie, the horses and the ducks. We got good recommendations. The spot of the house is perfect for beautiful hikes around. And I didn't sleep so well for a long time. All in all an amazing time where we could relax and didn't have to do anything, feeling completely at home. Such a warm, fun and friendly woman, couldn't ask for more. Will definitely come back sometime!

  • Margaret is the ideal hostess. She was very responsive, warm, welcoming, and extremely thoughtful. She made our stay a real delight. It was a cold evening when we arrived and it was such a treat to arrive to her place. She welcomed us into a toasty warm, inviting place. She had not only a beautiful bottle of wine and cookies waiting for us, but a whole tray of assorted breakfast goodies. Her place is very well stocked with everything for a very comfortable stay from plenty of fresh towels to lovely soap. Margaret clearly puts a lot of thought and care into providing her guests with the best stay possible. The heating is autonomous which was very convenient for us as we don't like too much heat. The space is very well laid out. It is beautifully done. After a day out walking, we loved getting back to this cosy space. The setting is great. It is well connected to visit Abergavenny, Brecon beacons, valley of wye, etc. At the same time, the place is on a quiet country lane giving a relaxing and restful experience. We would highly recommend a stay at Margaret's and we hope to go back again. Exceptional hostess and stay!

Margaret was an excellent host and her property is in an idyllic location. The welcome pack, comprising everything we needed and more for our breakfasts, was superb, and she went the extra mile and left a pot plant, cake and bottle of wine for us as it was wife's birthday the day we arrived.

  • Caroline was very flexible and accommodating in dealing with our booking and so she made the whole process very easy for our not-so-simple needs. If every host was as good as this, life would be so much better. Thank you Caroline.

  • Have stayed twice now over a weekend while working. Lovely bright and airy, large single room area with plenty of space + shower room, on the upper floor of a modern wooden outbuilding. All very accurately described. There is also a desk under one of the windows now. Fridge (w/ starter milk) and Nespresso coffee in place. Only absence for some may be microwave/TV, but you come here to be free of that and not need them! 4x large sloped roof windows mean you can see out to the fields, hills and mountains that surround you in all directions, whether sat down, walking around, brushing your teeth, in the shower, or at the desk. Nothing looks in on you. Also large and varied bookcase + digital radio. Go try the ample really excellent local food options, or if standard takeaway fare required, Abergavenny only about 8 min drive. Right on a network of footpaths straight from the house. Marianne and Kim are wonderful hosts, very well-travelled with work. This place works really well for having own privacy, very separate building, can come and go easily as you like. Yet they are very much there as hosts whenever needed, and will have all the time in the world with you if you want to learn a bit more about the area/what you should do, or just to chat about the world. If there's anything you need that you don't have in there, I am confident they would be very happy to help you out!

    Gregory2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne was a very warm and gracious host. She and her husband offered me and my friend a beer upon arrival, and they were both filled with all kinds of useful knowledge and recommendations for things to do and see in the area. The place where we slept was beautiful and we even got to witness a meteor shower through one of the large windows that looked up at the sky. Definitely hope to come again!

    Nick2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous loft space with a very comfortable bed. Although the weather was very hot the accommodation was airy and cool, our hosts even offered us a fan if we needed one. The views are spectacular from every window, enjoyed an evening and breakfast coffee amongst the fruit trees in the garden. One afternoon we followed the footpath from the property boundary, across a field to the river where we enjoyed a few hours of wild swimming in a stunning setting. Check in and out was easy and our hosts were very accommodating. Would love to return.

Award winning afternoon tea is available at The Angel Hotel. Voted BEST hotel in Wales 2019. The picturesque White Castle is within walking distance, as part of the three castles walk. There are also walking groups regularly held within the village, taking in lots of the wonderful scenery we have on offer. We do not accept children under 12 years of age due to the brook that runs next to the cottage.
Llanvapley is a very small village, with a well kept cricket pavilion and children's play area. There are ample local walks. We can provide an ordnance survey map for this purpose.
  • If you are visiting Abergavenny (we were for the Food Festival), this is an ideal place to stay about 4 miles outside the town in a quiet rural location. We really appreciated the friendly welcome and the many thoughtful touches. The breakfast was particularly delicious! We'd certainly stay again.

  • Nicola and Peter made my stay in Abergavenny absolutely wonderful! I am happy I chose to stay with them. I felt comfortable and at peace in their home. A beautiful home in the country with a pretty little garden and enjoyable view that I could sit and sip my coffee at and watch their ducks play in the water or see the horses munch away in the field behind. Nicola and Peter took great care of me and I had a fun day at the Usk showground with them, they were excellent at giving me advice on what to do in the area which made my experience fantastic! I very much look forward to visiting them again. I feel so rested after my stay and happy, I had a lovely time getting to know them and they spoilt me with lovely Welsh treats and fetching me from the train station and dropping me off after, they really go the extra mile! Great hospitality with a definite 10/10. You're in for a treat if you stay with them indeed.

  • If you like great hospitality, wonderful views and extraordinary accommodation, this is the place for you! Me and my boyfriend have stayed at multiple Airbnb’s and this is by far the best stay. The room is very comfortable and everything in the house is very clean and stylish. It is a great place to stay if you like nature and quiet but within a close proxemity to other villages & towns. I recommend having a car as there is so much to see around - although the long walks between places is very nice. Nicola was very good at communication, went out of her way to make you feel at home and had great local tips too. She greeted us with a snack, let us feed her ducks and the horses in the field around. The continental breakfast she prepared for us was 6/5 stars. We highly recommend staying at Brookside Cottage!

  • My partner and I stayed here for a few days to celebrate his birthday, which also turned into a surprise engagement! The shepherds hut was a great escape, with gorgeous views in a tranquil location. Such a beautiful place to wake up to - very cosy and clean. The finishing touches in the hut were both adorable and practical. Karen and Dave were welcoming, friendly, helpful and responsive. We really appreciate our lovely gifts - so thoughtful. The experience exceeded our expectations for our first glamping trip. We enjoyed every minute, just wish it was a little longer but sure we'll be back in future! Thank you Karen and Dave for an amazing stay - you've certainly made it a memorable holiday!

  • My boyfriend and I would highly recommend Karen’s shepherd’s hut. It is spacious, clean and has everything you need for a few days away. We were really impressed and would love to come back in the future. Definitely one of our favourite places we’ve stayed at!

  • We've just spent two totally relaxed nights in this amazing place. If tranquility, cosiness and quality time together is what you're looking for this little place is just what you need. Its compact but has been carefully thought out and finished to a high standard with all your needs covered, it even had an ensuite bathroom! The bed is lovely and comfortable and the wood burning stove and fire pit are great additions. We had a basket of goodies left for us when we arrived which was very thoughtful. Karen is a wonderful host, responded very quickly and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back and have no hesitation reccomending Cromwell's Hideaway we've had an unforgettable weekend!

  • We stayed here as a weekend treat for my wife’s 40th birthday. It was a wonderful break. Karen’s communication was first class, offering numerous suggestions for where I could look at for evening meals, and the 40th card and bottle of bubbly for my wife were unexpected but very lovely touches. The location is perfect, next to rolling fields with lambs wandering right up to the fence near the hut. Inside the facilities were all we needed, with bread, milk, eggs, croissants all thrown in. Just perfect.

  • Karen and Dave were fab hosts! We didn't get to meet Karen sadly as she was working but Dave came round and brought us a bottle or Prosecco, we also bumped into him at his local and he bought us a round of drinks...above and beyond! The space was a dream. There are no photos of the bathroom so we expected it to be very basic but it was far from it. Very clean and modern and more spacious than you would think in a shepherds hut! Honestly can't recommend it enough! We went on a 4 hour walk just a 10 minute drive from them and finished in a pub for lunch. If you can do 3 nights we highly recommend it, it just gives you that extra bit of time to enjoy the serenity of it all. Only problem we had was with the wifi so we had to work from a cafe in Monmouth alongside hotspotting from our phone - hopefully you wont need to work while you are there though as we would have much preferred that of course but sadly had to work so full functioning wifi would have been the icing on the cake so we could have worked from the comfort of the shepherds hut. Everything was great - as you can probably tell we HIGHLY recommen a stay here. Beautiful!!!
