Places to stay in Llanrhian

Places to stay in Llanrhian
The Tree House is elevated and built amongst the tree tops. It has a cosy, spacious and light ambience . A short walk through a wooded valley, following a pretty stream with a mill pond leads to a quiet and sheltered cove that's good for swimming with a natural diving pool in the rocks refilled with every tide. Or enjoy the spectacular views of the Pembrokeshire National Park. Please note, bookings between 18th July and 29th August 1 week minimum changeover on Saturday.
The unique location and access to the coastal path and cove is a great draw. There is a sense of being in the trees as it’s built on the side of a National Trust valley which holds the highest conservation status. Also, check out our famous tree swing, just below the property. We moved here because we can just walk out of the house with a cup of tea in hand and stroll to the headland in minutes, stepping into wilderness. My dream was to live in a place with nothing between me and the sea.
The house is 5 minutes drive to St Davids, Britain's smallest city, which has numerous restaurants, cafe's, activity centres including some of the best surfing in the UK and heritage sites. The village of Solva, also 5 mins drive or 20 mins walk, is considered one the prettiest harbour villages in the UK with pubs and shops for visitors as well as boating facilities. You can walk to both along the spectacular coast path and get a regular bus back to the Pink House. Guide Book for The Pink House/Tree House and Shepherds Hut This is by no means an exhaustive list of the places I love to visit or eat and drink in: Solva: Mam gu – Amazing Welsh cakes baked on the premises. Lots of different flavours as well as the traditional version. Based on a recipe passed down in the owners family. Also lovely coffee and a variety of herbal teas as well as food. The Lavender Café in Raoul Speeks Gallery. Eat delicious homemade cakes and drinks surrounded by art and Heather’s photo’s. Strong Cuban influence infused with Welsh flavours. Back coast road between St Davids and Croesgoch near Berea. Perennial Garden and Café SA62 6DB – Newly opened and my very favourite place at the moment. Very interesting range of coffees and teas. My daughter had coffee from Lake Atitlan in Guatamala (having swum in this sacred lake on her Gap Year) and I had Earl Grey with Blue Flowers. The tasty sandwiches came with organic salad. You can also buy bags of salad and the most beautiful bunches of flowers. I’ve decided to cycle across the Dowrog Common to get there next time I visit. The Druidstone SA62 3NE 01437 781221 I have always loved “The Dru” as it is affectionately known. A hotel set on cliffs overlooking St Brides Bay. The beach below is accessed down a steep winding path with the best rock pools for blennies we’ve found. Eat in the posh restaurant and watch the sunset or in the cellar bar where you can choose to sit outside on the terrace or in the walled garden. Full of art work and host for various music and drama events. Porthgain Interesting walks through fascinating industrial architecture and coastal walks where you hear and catch sight of Grey Atlantic seal pups with their mothers. http://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/explore-pembrokeshire/wildlife-and-nature/seal-watching/ Here you can visit the Sloop Pub which has a great outdoor sun trap of a terrace. Watch your children playing on the green as you relax and catch the last rays of the setting sun. Or get fish and chips from The Shed – a restaurant that specialises in local freshly caught fish. Nearby is The Blue Lagoon. Enjoy cliff jumping here, the site of the Red Bull championships. Learn how to jump safely first please – google it! My sons friend dislocated both his shoulders by not taking due care. Llys Meddyg - Newport http://www.llysmeddyg.com/ Well worth the 45min trip up the coast for an outstanding meal in the restaurant or cellar bar or outside in the garden. Children and dog friendly. Great art and ceramics. I am bias of course because my daughter Louise and her husband Ed own the hotel and restaurant / Ceramics by Adam Buick http://www.adambuick.com/ (son-in-law)/Art by a selection of the best artists in Pembrokeshire. While you are there visit The Witches Cauldron, an extraordinary geological feature https://www.coastalcottages.co.uk/things-to-do-in-pembrokeshire/witches-cauldron/538/ . On a calm day swim through the caves and arches at low tide. And of course visit Whitesands Bay – café and amenities have not spoilt the natural beauty of this wonderful beach. Watc the local surfers zoom down to the beach when they hear the surfs up. I love the walk to St Davids Head from Whitesands. If you’re feeling energetic walk around Carnliddi or up and over the top. See if you can spot the cromlechs that are littered around – a slight exaggeration! On our little hand written map , where Wrecks are written check out this story http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/621818. The 3 tugs were shipwrecked in 1981 the year before we moved here. My children loved playing on them and its well worth a scramble down the well worn (though not obvious) cliff path to see how the beach is strewn with tortured metal from the tugs. Talking about which- in the inaccessible cove beyond Elephants Head (written about by a travel writer in the 50’s as a place that tourists will flock to in the future like they do to Wookey Hole in The Cheddar Gorge) you may spy smugglers steps hewn into the promontory on the Solva side – my children tell me now how they used to climb down them (my blood runs cold at the thought)!! And before I finish this weeney guide book – I want to tell you how I told my daughter off for exaggerating when she said that the sea was really warm in the cove. I had to apologise because I was astonished to find that it was – and I am a real coldy custard. Because the south facing cove has pillars of black rock that get warmed during the day if the tide’s out, they act like storage radiators and warm the water significantly when the tide comes in at the end of the afternoon. (you’ve got to get the conditions just right though) I hope this gives you a taste of this lovely area and what it has to offer. Please let us know in the guest book what you have enjoyed during your stay here.

Ysgubor is one of two self catering converted barns situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast, near the historic city of St Davids in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Originally the farm grain store and mill the barn has been renovated into a cosy two bedroom property.
  • This is a really lovely cottage in a rural location that is ideal for exploring the beautiful local area. We only went for the weekend but would love to go back for longer next time. The cottage is a great space and everything was really clean. Ieuan and Sandra were very helpful and answered any questions before our visit. They were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. Would definitely recommend xx

    Rhiannon2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. What a view! A perfect base from which to explore the Wales coastal path and surrounding areas. Great hosts and a very cosy and characterful cottage, we'll be back :)

    James2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We cannot recommend this place enough. The location is fantastic with some of the best views we have ever had at an Airbnb. There are great country and coastal walks within very easy reach and the cottage is also very close to fantastic beaches. The place itself is very cosy, exceptionally clean and comes with all the amenities you need. We slept very well every night and loved the views from every window! Sandra is a fantastic host who made is feel very welcome and left us a couple of welcome gifts on our arrival which made us feel very at home. We would absolutely stay again!

    Hayley2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of those places where you wake up, look out the window and wish you never had to leave. The vistas from it's place high on the hillside are breathtaking. The on-premise access to the never-ending network of public footpaths in the area means opportunities for exploration are literally on your doorstep, including a 25 minute stroll through fields and pastures to the amenities at Porthgain. The cottage itself is outfitted with comfort in mind: lovely linens, fresh pillows, comfortable mattresses. The two bathrooms (not pictured on the listing) are new and modern, with enviable water pressure! There are two living room areas, one on each floor. This was handy when travelling with a small child who liked to watch cartoons "upstairs". The kitchen is very modern with near-new appliances, including a washer/dryer for clothes, which is handy when the weather turns. Stocked with everything you need to make yourself at home with cooking, entertaining. Unlike some AirBnBs, there is no tea/coffee/sugar - basics that are sometimes handy to have upon arrival on a long travel day. The hosts did leave a pint of fresh milk (in a glass bottle, no less!) and some delicious welsh cakes with a bottle of wine. So thoughtful. Ieuan and Sandra are seriously top-notch hosts who went above and beyond any expectations, including delivering fresh apples from their gorgeous orchard. This is the best AirBnB experience I've had. We hope to return some day.

Owl's Nest is our cosy, yet light and airy annex. We are nestled in the heart of farming country on the wildly beautiful St Davids peninsula. The cottage is ideal for couples or young families. It has a comfortable double room and a snuggly bunk room. The kitchen-diner is fully equipped and an uplifting space in which to enjoy breakfast together before you head out. The bathroom is a perfect warm space to wash off the sand before relaxing over supper and getting cosy in front of the log burner.
We provide a complimentary welcome pack including home-made cake, tea, coffee, milk and sugar, as well as bread, butter and a preserve. We can lend you a folding cot, high chair, bed guard or stairgate at no extra cost. Please ask in advance. We do ask you to bring your own baby bedding and reins. Owl's Nest is the first step along the way to converting more outbuildings to create further holiday cottages, including a single storey, two-bedroomed, fully accessible unit with wide-ranging views to the West . Consequently, although there is no building work happening at the moment, we are sorry that we cannot yet offer you dedicated outside space to sit or play. It is a priority for us to try to get this ready by late summer. In the meantime, you may share our space at the front of the cottage, but children and pets need to be supervised at all times.
Make the most of our proximity to the Pembrokeshire Coast path. A short drive will take you to visit blue flag beaches, castles, hills, forests or animal parks. Enjoy peace and quiet with huge, starry skies. Make the most of the slower pace of life. Visit the farmers' markets and wonderful restaurants. Rediscover the joys of rock-pooling. Re-charge by walking the coast and drinking in the fresh sea air and the wildly beautiful vistas. We may be able to help you with a lift to the start or finish of your walk.

  • This is a wonderful place that provides a snug base to explore the glorious countryside and has expansive views of the sea.

  • Such a cute place and with a great atmosphere. Cosy with the two stoves lit, clean and very well kitted out. Best/cleanest pans we've come across in holiday rentals, even the frying pan still had it's non-stick coating intact! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the peace and quiet was a dream. Very friendly and helpful host too. Thank you Alexandra

    Emma2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem, beautifully isolated yet only 30 mins walk to the coast. The cottage is small but really well thought out, everything you need and the stoves in both the sitting room and bedroom are a real treat during the colder months. We have just sat out storm Dennis and it was very cosy to be hunkered down in the Watch House in between the worst of the weather. Thank you Alexandra

  • If you want a rural few nights in a real country cottage this is your spot. Ideal location to explore the area!

    Charlie2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A truly amazing place, unbelievable cosy! We had the most amazing time at this lovely authentic Welsh cottage. Near to the amazing Pembrokeshire coastline, we had wonderful walks and great food and drink experiences all on foot. The stove is a thing of wonder and bathed us in warmth and loveliness even though the storm was howling outside. Just loved it, brilliantly run and organised. Cant fault it .!!

  • A glorious location for a retreat to Pembrokeshire. Excellent weather meant I was out most of the time but it was a delightful place to return to, and gave the requisite space to clear the head. Near to an excellent stretch of the coastal path too.

Our comfortable and contemporary log cabin is in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park, minutes from the coastal path and a short walk to a secluded, sandy beach. Porthgain harbour with its award winning bistro (The Shed) and the characterful Sloop Inn is a five minute footpath walk away. Only 15 minutes drive is the UK's smallest city St David's with it's magnificent cathedral and an array of cafes, restaurants, shops and art galleries. The area hosts numerous outdoor activities.
Guests will be the sole residents at the cabin for the period of their stay.
The Cabin is situated on a landscaped park of 18 lodges.
  • Loved staying at Hester’s cabin. Very cosy, bright, well thought out living area and lots of space outside to play...ideal for our family. Easy walk to Porthgain, where there are some good eating options, and close proximity to coastal path...would recommend the local beach which you can access from the coastal path. Also very close to Whitesands which is a great beach to go bodyboarding/surfing. Would also recommend a visit to the Bug Farm.

    Daniel2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay here. The photos do not do it justice, the cabin is beautiful. It was incredibly clean and really spacious. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The kids (age 5 and 3) enjoyed playing with the toys there. It was easy to find and in a great location. Hester’s directions were perfect. It’s really quiet and surrounded by farmland, I think it’s a dairy farm. The kids loved the cows and the tractors. Quick walk through the fields to Porthgain for dinner or a walk on the cliffs, plus there’s a beach a mile away that’s inaccessible by car so we pretty much had it to ourselves. We loved that there was a windbreak and a bodyboard and some buckets and spades that we could borrow from the cabin! Tesco deliver there so we ordered food to meet us there on arrival and we ate at both the Shed and the Sloop (walking distance) and both were delicious. The Sloop have a selection of board games which my kids loved. We also did a boat trip around Ramsey Island, went to Folly Farm (actually a zoo and massive indoor playground as well as a farm!) and on the only rainy day we had we went to the Blue Lagoon water park (like the pool at Centre Parcs except even better!) Whitesands beach was only 15 mins drive away and was beautiful and had a cafe and wetsuit hire etc. We had a fantastic holiday and would return in a heartbeat!

  • Great secluded and quiet location with an easy walk to Porthgain for best Fish and Chips in UK or short drive to many beaches and St Davids. Cabin had everything we wanted and our children loved staying there for the week. Would highly recommend this.

  • We have just had a wonderful stay in this lovely cabin. Sparklingly clean and nicely decorated with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. The location is perfect, walking distance to Porthgain and close to St David’s and the coastal paths. Can’t wait to visit again.

  • The location of this lodge could not be better. The walk to Porthgain is pretty and takes about 10 minutes. It is a very picturesque place. We particularly liked The Sloop Inn - the food was good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere was great. On two of the days there were singers and Morris dancers too. The Shed does good fish and chips. The lodge feels very private, as all lodges on the site have shrubs and so on around them, so you can’t be overlooked inside the place. The back deck is nice too - early mornings were lovely - lots of bird song. Otherwise it is very quiet. The living area is very spacious and comfortable and opens out to the back deck. The bedrooms have blackout blinds. Highly recommended.

    Carol2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay, the lodge was sparklingly clean, very modern look inside, comfy beds, blackout blinds and we had everything we could possibly need. Great little shortcut to Porthgain across a field to reach the pub, restaurant and coastal path plus a bus stop to take you along the coast so you can walk back! Great accommodation, great location, I would highly recommend it!

    Sarah2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect base for a family holiday. It is spotlessly clean, has everything you need and is in s fabulous quiet site a few minutes walk from the pub. Perfect.

Large sunny double room , with small sofa and wardrobe space. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Private shower room for sole use, not en-suite.
We are very rural and part of a farm. Regular events are held here at a distance from the house.
Near St. Davids and Fishguard, very convenient for catching the ferry to Ireland.
  • Lovely stay with Tricia in a beautiful house. Tricia went the extra mile, literally, in helping us get to the farm. I would highly recommend if your looking for a good value, relaxed and friendly Airbnb stay.

  • This is a cosy and spacious room in a beautiful large house. Perfect for a comfortable space to rest while exploring West Wales. Also the welsh cakes provided were delicious. Highly recommend!

  • Tricia is a wonderful host and we had a great stay! It's a lovely location and the room is very clean, spacious and cozy. Tricia left us grapes and welsh cakes in the room, as well as everything we'd need for coffee in the morning. She even has this little fridge with milk next to the room, so thoughtful! Very close to St David's and all the beaches as well, for people who want to explore the area. Really recommend this place, thanks again, Tricia!

  • Downtown Abbey style house! Lovely! This old farm house is such a nice house in the middle of a quite, wonderful landscape. Tricia was a pretty friendly host. The room is huge, the bathroom a bit small but totally enough for a hot nice shower. For everyone who’s traveling in Wales or want to stay in a quite place: high recommend!

Set in the Pembrokeshire National Park the Old Stable is a recently completed, stunning, barn conversion. Architect designed it sits its own 18 acres of farm land with breathtaking seaviews of Abereiddy Bay, St George’s Channel and the Irish Sea. Close to Pembrokeshire’s award winning beaches, spectacular coastline, coves and famous coastal path the Old Stable represents a perfect base to explore this wonderful county. In a ‘dark skies’ location it is perfect for star gazing.
The Old Stable was an old stone and brick ruin, recently rescued and sympathetically converted into a two bedroomed property which boasts all the modern amenities you would expect from a recent barn conversion. It has amazing panoramic sea views from both its bedrooms and living room. There is deck area accessed from the living room to enjoy breakfast or summer sunsets and a patio with bbq/pizza oven for alfresco dining. The Old Stable is ideal for couples seeking a romantic getaway in idyllic surroundings or time away from busy lives to enjoy all that pembs has to offer. Listed as a two bedroomed property it has a spacious master first floor mezzanine/gallery style master bedroom with king size bed, the second, smaller ground floor bedroom has a double bed with direct access to garden and patio. The stable enjoys large outside spaces, including a garden, patio, private parking and a further, guest accessible, 18 acres stretching towards the the sea. A wooden stable next to the property provides secure space for bikes, surfboards and kayaks or other storage requirements for guests during their stay. We accept babes in arms (under 6 months) and a travel cot can be provided upon request.
The Old Stable sits alongside the quiet coastal road between St David’s, hamlet of Berea and the coves of Trefin and Abereiddy. In a rural location it is 3 miles from historic St David’s where a supermarket, shops, pubs and restaurants can be found together with its ancient Cathedral founded in the 6th century.
  • Wonderful stay in a beautiful location. Perfect relaxation.

  • Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Deb’s beautiful cottage! It is even more gorgeous than the photos, such a calming place to be. We were there on a very wet & stormy weekend and it was super cosy & comfortable. We ordered a breakfast hamper for Saturday, very worthwhile even if it is purely for the eggs - I swear they helped make the best Eggs Benedict I have ever tasted! We went to The Shed in Porthgain for dinner on Friday night & loved it so much we went back on Sunday before we left! For walks I would recommend Strumble Head - stunning views and, when we were there, no one to disturb the peace! You will not be disappointed booking Deb’s place! Thank you very much for a wonderful stay 😊

    Lucinda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place. The pictures of The Old Stable are great however when the sun is shining on the sea as your sat in the living room looking out the view really is something to behold. Deb was great in communication throughout, the place was sparkling clean and well designed. We loved our stay and hope to return someday!

    Michael2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful place, perfect for a quiet get away. The stable had everything you could possibly need, from kitchen utensils to heating equipment. Host's were easy to contact and always available if needed. Perfect location with the blue lagoon a short walk away. We will be back!

Two well behaved dogs are welcome however they MUST NOT be allowed upstairs, (use our stair gate if necessary), or on the furniture. Please be aware that there may be sheep in nearby fields so you must keep them under control. We would also request that they are not left in the cottage on their own. Please also be aware that there is a low ceiling in one side of the bedroom and on the stairs.
Trefin is a quiet village between St Davids and Fishguard with a pub, "The Ship Inn" and a cafe "The Mill". Nearby in Porthgain there is a popular pub called "The Sloop Inn" and an excellent fish bistro - "The Shed". Our nearest shop/off licence/ newsagents is in the garage at The Square and Compass which is around 5 minutes drive away. A small supermarket and shops are in St Davids and Fishguard. Haverfordwest is 30 mins drive away and has larger supermarkets and stores. St Davids with its beautiful cathedral and Bishops palace is around 15 minutes by car. The cottage is located within the Pembrokeshire coast national park famous for its beaches and wildlife. You can reach the coastal path in less than 5 minutes from the cottage.
  • Wonderful cottage in a secluded location 5 mins from the beach and costal path. Great for the dog with a lovely garden. Also a really useful utility room which was handy for dogs and cycling gear. Very clean and beautiful interior with stunning bath and log burner. Would highly recommend!

  • A week of pure bliss. The perfect little cottage in the perfect location. Really well equipped and great communication from the host. Thoroughly recommend.

    Chris2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Ty Gwyn. Despite being a chilly and stormy February, the lovely woodburning stove and Penny's thoughtful addition of beautiful Welsh blankets made our stay super cosy. Penny's place has fantastic views, and feels remote and away from it all despite being a short walk from the village. It's super close to the coast path, and we had excellent food at both The Shed at Porthgain and the Grove in St David's, after long walks along the cliffs. Penny is an excellent host.

    Jeanie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Penny & Darren’s cottage, excellent location off the beaten track, with so much to see and do nearby. Penny really spoils you with an amazing welcome pack, so nice to arrive to, inside a wonderfully decorated and furnished cosy cottage. Little too windy to enjoy coffee in the garden this time but hope to be back!

    Paul2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a most wonderful place. Its location is superb: away from other houses, yet not too far from amenities. Inside, it is very cosy and stylish and the attention to detail is great. Everything speaks of quality and there is everything you need for a great time away. We stayed here in the middle of winter and it was very welcoming and comfy. The area is beautiful with plenty of rugged landscapes to explore as well as small villages and towns. We recommend wholeheartedly. Thank you for a great time away.

    Carole2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage. Super clean. Cosy wood burner. Very comfortable bed. Close to great beaches and cliff walks.

    Caroline2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just had a wonderful week in Penny's lovely cottage. This is a beautifully fitted-out, cosy, sparkling clean, well-organised cottage with absolutely everything you need for a relaxing stay. We settled in immediately, aided by the thoughtful welcome package and, after a 5 hour drive, settling down in front of the log burner with a glass was just perfect. The location is ideal, being a few hundred yards from the Coastal Path and within easy walking distance of Trefin and Porthgain, where The Shed serves great seafood. This is a quieter part of Pembrokeshire, which suited us fine, but with easy access to some great walks and even the Preseli Hills. After a long day's walking it was a pleasure to return to the cottage to relax. We can safely say that this was the perfect antidote to our two stressful jobs and we would love to return to Penny's lovely cottage in magical Pembrokeshire.

    Paul2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in a really quiet location. Some excellent walks from the doorstep and can recommend the Sloop Inn and The Shed, both in Porthgain. We had a lovely Christmas week and would recommend the cottage

  • Ann’s cottage was spotless, so cozy to come back after exploring amazing Pembrokeshire. We had a fire every night, loved it. We enjoyed nice meals in Porthgain too, easy to walk or a very short drive.

    Noelia2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent cottage, with wonderful views and places to walk and explore, ideally located for all....sometimes it was nice to sit in watching the rain creep in, whilst being warm, reading with a cup of tea. Porthgain is a must, particularly The Shed for the best cooked fish and chips. If you love the great outdoors, beaches, rockpools, and a nice pub to rest after, this place is ideal. Spectacularly clean, with everything you need, even a welcoming bottle of wine....

    Gary2019-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage perfect for exploring the north of Pembrokeshire.

    Mel2019-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ann and Howard's cottage is a real treasure. It sits near the coastal path in a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire and has views down to the sea. The little hamlet of Porthgain is a short drive or walking distance away and there are 2 lovely places to eat there - The Shed and The Sloop pub (The Shed needs to be booked as it's always busy) plus some little galleries. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable with everything you could think of being provided and it is also spotlessly clean. If you want a peaceful retreat in beautiful surroundings, then this is the place to book and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ann and Howard's place.

    Julie2018-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully furnished and decorated, Ann's cottage felt like a home from home. It comfortable and clean and the bottle of wine to welcome us was greatly appreciated!

    Laura2018-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Well located with easy access to the whole area. Plenty of dining opportunities but specifically the Shed at Porthgain or the St Brides Inn at little Haven. Superb area just too meander about in.

  • The Lodge is amazing. From the minute you enter you will feel at home and know picking this property was the right decision. Ann made us very welcome and there was a bottle of wine as a treat for us too, which was a lovely surprise. It has everything you need and is spotless. Such a great location for getting to the local beaches etc. None of us wanted to leave. Hope to be able to visit again. A real gem!!!!

Llanrhian is a sleepy rural village on the north Pembrokeshire coast, approx 1 mile inland from Porthgain (The Sloop Inn, Shed restaurant, Art Galleries) and six miles north west of St David's - the smallest city in the UK. We first visited this part of Pembrokshire in 2007 for a friends wedding - initially just intending to camp for a long weekend before moving on. The wedding, location and weather were all brilliant and we ended up staying for two weeks! We fell in love with the area and have come back every year since. We booked a summer holiday in Bwthyn Graig in 2016 and loved both the cottage and its location in sleepy Llanrhian, next to many of our favourite places. When the housekeeper mentioned in passing that it was on the market we started a dream that became reality 9 months later! For a perfect beach day our tried and tested formula is to take the 20min walk to Traeth Llyfn, spend the day on the beach but return via Porthgain (20min walk along the stunning coast path) and the inevitable refreshments at the wonderful Sloop Inn, whilst the kids burn off any energy they might have left on the famous/wonky football pitch. Hopefully they'll have some left for the 15-20min walk back to Llanrhian, following the footpath across the fields.
  • Perfect location and very good facilities for a great holiday!

    Tessa2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Rock Cottage, it was cosy and well equipped. We had a lovely time playing board games by the fire on wet afternoons & sunny walks down to Porthgain for lunch. Nick was very quick to respond and a great host. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

    Olivia2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is located in the most beautiful part of Wales (in our opinion). Communication with Nick & Louise was great, lots of info sent to us before our arrival. The cottage was perfect for us, comfy beds, clean and tidy, lots of information about the area as well as some great art on the walls as well as the Welsh Cakes and milk - thanks. Can't wait to return next year with our little boy (he will kill me, he is 22 ;-) and our chocolate lab, Henry!).

  • Lovely cottage in a picturesque village location close to the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast. Nearby Porthgain has dramatic scenery, a well respected fish restaurant and an ancient pub. The cottage is cozy with a good sized living room. The cottage is very well equipped, and we'll stocked with board games, books and maps. Fast Internet. Instructions dotted around are really helpful. Garden is small but private and idyllic in the spring sunshine. Coastal walks are staggeringly dramatic. Beautiful clean beaches. Friendly people.

  • Jan’s place was wonderful! We had a really comfortable stay. The barn was very clean, beautifully presented and perfect for us. There were some lovely views from the living that we enjoyed every morning with a hot drink. Jan provided us with some delicious local produce, which was a lovely touch that made us feel welcome. She also recommended some great walks and eateries- we had some of the best fish and chips we’d ever eaten at the Shed! Thanks for a brilliant stay!

We all loved it! The hosts were very kind, friendly and know so much about the area. These type of people that is very nice to have around. Thanks very much!

  • Great location - relaxed hosts - enjoyed

  • Beautiful cottages, great location & lovely hospitality. The local beach is wonderful but there are steep steps to access it so those with very young kids should take a sling & leave the buggy at home. Dawn & her family were very pleasant & were readily available to sort any minor issues. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & I would be happy to return again in the future.

    Dearbhaile2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was fantastic about our little cottage weekend. The outdoor area is comfortable, and there is enough space for 9 people in the living room and kitchen areas. The beds aren’t the most comfortable and there is only one shower (just a bath in the upstairs bathroom) but everything you need for a few days in the welsh countryside. Dawn is a lovely and welcoming host who is so friendly- couldn’t recommend her more!

Set in beautiful Pembrokeshire walks are on the doorstep to see some stunning scenery. The cottage has everything you will need for a great stay away with underfloor heating which makes it extra cosy! Cathedral City St Davids is 3 miles away. Abereiddy and Porthgain just along the coast. Just next door to the cottage is the Perennial Gardens and cafe. There is a small shop where you can purchase our Lamb and Beef (subject to availability) produced from our farm two miles away.
    Beautiful countryside
  • We have just returned from a long weekend at Hannah’s cottage and we were thoroughly impressed with how lovely it was. The space is well set out and everyone, including our dog enjoyed the under ground heating. The back garden is well enclosed which was great for both our dog and daughter. There were lots of nice touches too, such as a welcoming bottle of wine and chocolates! Hannah has clearly put a lot of thought into the property and there were lots of things in place to make our stay easier - we even had a Christmas tree! Communication with Hannah was easy and timely. We thoroughly recommend a stay here!

  • Dairy Cottage is little, cosy and well design. Home from home. Lots of details including underfloor heating, Hoover, iron, microwave, hairdryer, washing machine and dishwasher!!!! Self catering with all provided including tea, coffee and sugar also salt and pepper if you want to cook! Absolutely everything else in on the cottage, anything you can think of is provided including 1st aid kit and torch, taxi numbers... Just pack your clothes and toiletries. Absolutely love the place and planning to come back again soon! Hannah is an amazing host!!! There is a small Garden Centre with a Coffee next to it; shop opens at 10am and close at 5pm. The Cottage is close enough to St Davids (5 min car drive) and beaches within 10 min drive.

  • We had a lovely time at Diary Cottage, and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quite restful break. Hannah was a great host, really responsive to any questions and gave us great foodie recommendations!

  • Dairy Cottage provided a very comfortable retreat for our short break in Pembrokeshire. Hannah has thought of everything - the kitchen is well-equipped and the shower is excellent. We enjoyed sitting out in the small patio at the back of the cottage at the end of the day.

  • Highly recommended staying here, it's really cosy and comfortable, with a big comfy bed and a really good shower. You can see the stars really clearly from the windows and small private garden plus we were lucky enough to see lambs playing across the road from the living room. Kitchen has everything you need and the welcome pack was a great touch, much appreciated. Hannah was really friendly and helpful, plus it's got larger cottages and a garden nursery so great for family or just couple visits. Great spot for exploring and really quiet. Would definitely go back and recommend.

The cottage is close to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path with its beautiful beaches and rocky coves, family-friendly activities, and public transport. You’ll love it for the comfy bedrooms, the kitchen, the wood burning stove, the enclosed sunny courtyard leading into the garden, the cosiness and the friendly village nearby with a pub serving good food. The cottage is especially suitable for families with kids and pets, hikers, and couples. PLEASE DON'T USE INSTANT BOOKING - CONTACT ME FIRST.
There is a separate dining room which allows the kids to play games away from the adults. Also the enclosed sunny courtyard is a safe place for young children or dogs. PLEASE NOTE we can supply TOWELS but they are an EXTRA £3 EACH payable in cash to Alison the caretaker when you leave.
The Pembrokeshire coast line is one of the most beautiful in the world with beautiful wildflowers in the spring, and seal pups can be seen in October in the coves just along from the village. There are good places to eat both in the village and nearby, whilst those interested in culture can visit the cathedral city of St Davids. Children love to visit the water park at Bluestone or the trampolines at Hangar 5 near Haverfordwest.

  • If you want a historic cottage that looks small but actually fits in 3 couples or a larger family then this is perfect. We went as a couple plus dog, so the lovely large enclosed and safe garden was excellent for us, and would also be good for kids. The house is very well equipped, especially the modern kitchen. Location is very good for access to the coast path, leading to some fantastic beaches, and you have pub and cafe two minutes walk away. Rupert replied promptly to any questions, too. All in all a great success!

Drifter's Lodge is a cosy log cabin situated in the picturesque landscape of Porthgain, Pembrokeshire. This comfortable home away from home offers 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people. Ideal for families and dog friendly, the lodge enjoys a peaceful and rural location whilst being only a few miles from many local pubs/eating places, attractions and glorious beaches and coastal walks. The lodge is a stroll away from the lovely Porthgain harbour and 6 miles north of the tiny city of St Davids.
The lodge is cosy, but roomy with 3 bedrooms, a comfortable sitting area and a well equipped kitchen with large dining table. There is an enclosed decking area for guests to sit and enjoy the beautiful rural landscape.
The lodge is just a stroll away from pretty Porthgain Harbour - very popular with tourists, not least for the Shed restaurant and the Sloop Inn, which serve great food! Porthgain is a great place to join the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the cliff tops offer splendid views of the North Pembrokeshire coastline. Just a short drive or bus journey away are the pretty little village of Solva and the tiny city of St David's.
  • The cabin is beautiful and in such a great part of the world. The accommodation is cozy and has everything you need. The local village Porthgain is a short walk away and is very quaint. I would recommend going to see the Blue Lagoon which is only about 8 minutes drive away. We loved St Davids, Whitesands, Solva and Newgale in particular. There are many other places we did not have time to see. Thank you very much to Pippa for being an amazing host. This really is worth a visit and staying here will be worth it.

    Simon2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time at the property, which is located in one of the most beautiful places we have seen in Wales. Fantastic walks, beautiful views!!! We couldn't wish for anything more. I already recommended it to my friends and will be coming back soon.

    Magdalena2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a tranquil place this is. So quiet and peaceful. We loved exploring the area. The Sloop Inn and The Shed were great to have nearby. Both were fabulous. I look forward to returning.

    Lucy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation and location. The cabin as excellent facilities and a lovely feel it it, very cosy. There were only 2 of us but would be ideal for larger families or two couples. Great location for the costal path and easy access to amazing scenery. For a easy 2hr walk from the cabin I would suggest heading criss country to Abereiddy then follow the coastal path to Porthgain and finish with a drink in the Sloop Inn or the Shed, both great places to eat. Another good local walk is Abercastle to Trefin. Good base to reach all the other Pembrokeshire attractions including St David’s and Tenby which are both worth a visit.

Atmospheric , historical, stunning, wild, surprising, intriguing, great fish and chips; some of the words visitors to Porthgain have used to describe this pretty fishing village on St David’s Peninsula. Situated on a steep hill, at the end of a pretty country lane, sloping down towards the sea is the old fishing harbour of Porthgain. Set around a traditional village green with picnic tables and goal posts, this picturesque fishing village, once buzzing with industry is now a very popular tourist destination and boasts two renowned and highly acclaimed restaurants, The Shed Bistro and The Sloop Inn, both serving sensational catch-of –the-day seafood straight from the boat, excellent art galleries, a popular harbour for launching kayaks and dive boats, and of course its superb location in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The air is crystal fresh and the light clear and bright in Pembrokeshire, perfect for artists. Local art is displayed in two excellent galleries in Porthgain. The night skies are free from light pollution and tranquillity surrounds you. Porthgain is the ideal location for walking as the Pembrokeshire Coast Path can be reached from both directions with the local beaches of Aberfelin, Traethllfyn, Abereiddy and the Blue Lagoon all within walking distance. The clifftops here offer splendid views of the north Pembrokeshire coast line and a plethora of wildlife and wild flowers; be sure to watch out for the must-see birds found in the area – the chough and the peregrine falcon.

  • This is a really lovely cottage in an amazing coastal location, a mere 15 minutes walk from the sea. The cottage was clean, well presented and very well kitted out. Perfect for a break in Pembrokeshire. The owner is very responsive and helpful and everything is really well organised. Highly recommended!

  • This is a great little cottage and has everything you need for a relaxed and easy holiday. Comfy, great kitchen, beautiful garden and views and really useful utility area. Just what you need when. coming in from days out at the beach or walking the coastal path. Loved it and can't wait to come back.

  • This place is absolutely perfect and even better than the photos. It was spotlessly clean with everything you could need and there was milk, tea, coffee and jam all there when we arrived. It’s super cosy and more spacious than it looks in the photos. The short walk to the local pub is ideal and there are plenty of walks straight from the door. The shower is fantastic! Everything felt fresh and new and very well decorated. We would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family! Definitely have a drink outside The Sloop pub and head to The Shed for fish and chips.

    Lottie2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is extremely attractive and distinctive from the outside with its red painted doors and pretty garden. Inside was cosy and architecturally pleasing with an air of quality overall. All the amenities one would want were in the house including a dishwasher and washing machine, and particularly pleasing was the huge walk in shower with fabulously hot water. There is a sense of generosity on the part of the owners towards guests starting with a Welcome Pack which included a bottle of wine, Welsh cakes and some lovely little pots of jam, honey, marmalade, etc. We would highly recommend this house and it’s location.

The Shepherds Hut is perched on the edge of a National Trust wooded valley running down to the sea. Follow a path beside a pretty brook, mill ponds, derelict mill and out into the cove. The perfect spot to soak up the beauty and nature around you. The sheltered south facing cove must be one of the most interesting to swim in and explore with a small waterfall to swim under into a shallow cave, a natural diving pool and lots of pillars of dark rock to swim between, riding on the wave surges.
I have long dreamed of creating a hut in this location to take advantage of its hidden character. yet still feeling raised up above the valley with lovely views. A bit like being in an observation tower but not exposed because of the trees. It feels a bit like an eagles eerie to me. The Hut is well insulated and heated with log burner and a heated towel rail. Cooking can done on the wood burner or a single induction hob. There is also an oven/grill combi microwave. There is a good sized fridge with a freezer box. The corner sofa opens into a good sized double bed (my daughter boyfriend is 6'4'' and he was delighted that he fitted comfortably) The compact shower room has an ecotoilet ( seperates the solids from liquids), shower and washbasin with ample hot water. Outside you can relax in 2 hammock chairs or sit on the bench and just enjoy watching the butterflies and birds around you in the trees from your birds eye view. Other properties available are the Farmhouse sleeping 6: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/12358861 and The Tree House sleeping 4 https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/2847200
We are in a rural position, the nearest shop is in Solva 4mins away by car of 20mins walking across the fields. Guide Book for The Pink House/Tree House and Shepherds Hut:- This is by no means an exhaustive list of the places I love to visit or eat and drink in: Solva: Mam gu – Amazing Welsh cakes baked on the premises.
  • Bloody lovely. Shepherds hut + wood burner + near the coast = happy punters

    Poppy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds hut is in an excellent location between Solva and st davids and very close to the coastal path. We stayed during storm Dennis (where winds were up to 65mph!) and the shepherds hut was so cosy and offered everything we needed to escape from and warm up after exploring in the extreme weather! We had dinner at the Druidstone on saturday night. Thank you for the recommendation Elizabeth....it was lovely! We also really enjoyed afternoon tea at the old pharmacy tea rooms in Solva.

    Joanna2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy space for one or two, right next to a small brook running down to a spectacular cove that you pretty much have all to yourself. Lovely hut, decorated very prettily, and it's REALLY toasty when you get the fire going.

    Kate2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • A fab, cosy hut in an amazing location. The log burner heats the cabin perfectly within minutes and there are some of the best walks from the front door.

The piggery is cosy and situated in beautiful surroundings- my little girl particularly enjoyed running about the place and hiding on the bunk beds. Great local things to do include the bug farm, white-sands and Newport Beach.

  • A great little cottage, 10 minute walk to the beach and the pembrokeshire costal wall trail - some great restaurants nearby too. Can’t go wrong!

  • A wonderful cottage and a very peaceful location. Everything was spotlessly clean and the decor and homelessness of the cottage made it feel very welcoming. A nice touch, the place was pre-heated for our arrival and due to the auto thermostat, stayed lovely and warm our whole stay. Checkin via the key box was good, and Spike (owner) and his dog came to say hello on the 2nd day, and then apart from the we were left to ourselves. The pre- stay info was great from Rachel and then there was a very detailed welcome pack which was also useful. Highly recommended, we would stay her again. Thanks

Croesgoch village is halfway between Fishguard (ferry to Rosslare, Ireland) and the small, cathedral city of St David's. From Seaview you're withinin easy reach of lovely pubs, walks and glorious sandy beaches with great swimming. The house is light and comfortably decorated. Caro offers a continental breakfast. The room has a beautifully comfortable kingsize bed with a small ensuite shower/bathroom. There is a quiet secluded garden. Croesgoch has a pub, The Artramont Arms, 100m from the house.
North Pembrokeshire has a rugged wild beauty. The light is extraordinary and the area, like Cornwall, has attracted many artists of all types. I'm a ceramic artist and potter with my studio at the house. Guests might like to learn to throw a pot! Although a mile back from the sea and coast path, everything is within easy reach. There is a bus stop 75m from the house.
Most people are familiar with the famous Pembrokeshire national park with its wonderful coast path. St David's is Britains smallest city with its beautiful cathedral. A favourite 'watering hole' The Sloop Inn, is to be found in Porthgain, the little harbour village just over a mile from Croesgoch. Nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and bird watchers will love this bit of Wales.

The cottage met our expectations and is perfectly located within a short walking distance to the Pembrokeshire coastal path. A special thanks to Dawn, she was very kind to let us know immediately that my son had forgotten some of his belongings at check out and assured us that she will post them to our address - very kind and greatly appreciated. Very rural, excellent spot for walkers. Approx 20 mins due east from the beautiful Cathedral city of St. Davids, 15 mins south west from the historic twin port towns of Fishguard and Goodwick, 20 mins north from the county town of Haverfordwest, and only 3 miles from the village of Mathry. The large family farmhouse dates from the 17th C and is situated on a working small holding that hosts regular events. All events are listed on the Trehale Farm Facebook page.
This is a family home and the room is comfortable and well equipped. I am new to hosting and I'm looking forward to sharing my home with visitors. At the moment it is a pet free home but one small well behaved dog would be welcome. There are tea and coffee making facilities in room.

  • We had an absolutely amazing time staying at Keith's wonderful flat! The photos do not do the house justice - it is an incredibly beautiful space, with comfy bedrooms, a lovely decorated and open common area, and lots of natural light. Keith was incredibly hospitable and welcoming - very responsive in the days leading up to our trip, and so friendly when we arrived. We loved all his local tips (the Sloop pub and the Traeth Llyfn beach were particular favs!) and the delicious vegetables from his front garden. Our niece also loved being so close to the many cows in the area! Highly recommend and thank Keith for our amazing stay!

Great little self-contained unit based in the village of Trefin, which has a local pub and cafe. Ideal for exploring the coastal path, just a few hundred yards away or making it a base to go further afield in North Pembrokeshire. The unit itself is a double bed, a kitchenette, two electric rings, fridge, microwave, kettle and a walk-in shower/toilet. Ideal if you just want to chill and relax. This is very popular with walkers and cyclists (a secure bike shed available if needed)
Including in the price is a self-service breakfast of eggs, cereal, toast preserves fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee, tea and fruit juice, all served in the kitchen in the hostel.
  • Simple, not super fancy, but just what you need on a stop over or a vacation where you plan to spend time outside. Lovely area of the Welsh Coast. Paul went above and beyond in the hospitality department. We felt very welcome at his place and in the village as well. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

The Snug has it all! One of the most spectacular views in St Davids, is an easy 10min stroll into the historic Cathedral City centre, close to the stunning coastal path & a stones throw from the local beaches. It is nestled on the edge of the Waun Fawr moor with amazing far reaching views towards Carn Penberry. The Snug is beautifully decorated, providing stylish, self-contained accommodation in part of our former farmhouse - perfect for couples, friends, solo adventurers, cyclists & walkers.
The Snug's stylish double and single bedrooms, both with stunning views, are located on the first floor. The cosy studio living room is adorned with traditional welsh wool blankets and cushions, has a beautiful bespoke oak breakfast bar, an electric woodburning stove for those snuggly nights in, and on a warm summers day the barn door can be opened directly onto The Snug's private patio, where you can enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the sunset over Carn Llidi. The cabin kitchenette, incorporated into the lounge, is perfect for preparing breakfast or a light lunch (microwave, kettle, toaster and plug-in hob - NO OVEN) but please note it is not a full kitchen facility, so not ideal for making full evening meals. After a long day exploring the Pembrokeshire coast or surfing the Whitesands waves, freshen up in the modern shower room with vanity unit, mirror and large double shower enclosure (shower room is on the ground floor). Guests also have a large storage cupboard in the porch area for outdoor boots, coats, wetsuits, surfboards etc. We are super cyclist friendly accommodation and offer secure cycle storage in our large, well-lit outhouse. Cycle stands, suitable for mountain and road bikes, are provided and there is plenty of space for all your kit. Were really happy to provide first-hand info on some great rides too! Please note due to the layout of The Snug we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 8 years and it may not be ideally suited to those with impaired mobility.
  • Excellent accommodation in a beautiful spot with lots of lovely extra touches. We had a wonderful stay albeit a bit too short ! We would thoroughly recommend a stay at The Snug.
