  • Lovely cottage very high standard furnishing and also small touches such as hot water bottles, fire already to be lit and stacks of fire wood. Very friendly neighbours. Great views and location. 5 of us stayed and our dog and was very spacious. Look forward to visiting again.

  • A great stay in a beautiful location. Very cosy and perfect for a quiet get away.

  • Had a great stay at David's cottage! Well appointed with everything required for your stay. David was really quick to answer any queries and help sort a couple of issues. All the neighbours we met were very friendly (including a four legged 1 who tried to jump into our car boot!) The cottage serves as a good base for visiting around the Borders which has lots of pretty, picturesque wee towns. We ate at the Greenhouse Cafe in Melrose and Simply Scottish in Jedburgh and would recommend both. Good food and friendly staff. Would make 2 small suggestions for improvement: the shower base doesn't have any grip or mat so was a little slippy to walk on. And a long lighter would come in handy for starting the fire, especially if you run out of matches which we did! Neither of these things spoiled our stay though and all 3 of us would happily return.

  • Lovely rustic cottage with wonderful wood burning fie to curl up beside.

    Christine2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful cottage - we were there in December and, despite the cold weather, felt very cosy thanks to the wood-burning stove and comfortable furnishings. We used all 3 double bedrooms - all the beds were very comfortable with the extra blankets and hot water bottles being a nice touch. The cottage is beautifully designed and renovated, and is very well appointed. It lies off a country lane about 10 mins south of St Boswell's where we visited with family. This is an excellent location for exploring this part of the Borders and the nearby towns like Melrose, Selkirk, and Peebles. The host, David, was very responsive and able to answer any questions promptly. All in all, our stay was a real treat!

  • We had an amazing stay and the cottage was beautiful. Lots of space and a lovely design, we particularly loved the house plants. All the extras were great like the robes, shampoo, and condiments. Also lots of useful advice and tips, there was more to see than we had time for! we're hoping to come back in the new year and explore a bit more.

  • Our second trip to this gorgeous house. We once again had stunning weather and enjoyed the gorgeous colours of the forest on our walks. This is a perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet. The house is equipped with everything you need.

Self-built from scratch! Triple glazed, solar electric and water, heat pump, and a log fire. Mountain and road cycling possibilities, with lock-up and cleaning facilities, walking, riding, fishing, golfing, kayaking, climbing, and exploration. Lovely pubs and restaurants, all located in a picturesque and historic landscape. Used for family birthdays, reunions, baby showers, corporate business planning, surprises, retreats, the Fringe, overseas visitors and a half-way house for Scottish/English!
A friend once said that the Scottish Borders is a land for fairy tales. Our house is right in the middle of a quite magical landscape. The house is old and new, it looks old on the outside, but new on the inside. It can be as quiet as putting your head under a pillow, you feel your stress leaving in minutes. The dark skies at night show you galaxies and shooting stars. Lying on the lawn looking up at night is best. The deer are often seen in the field next door, with badgers, foxes, and many hare. Bats and house martins are busy catching the insects and keep the place remarkably clear. There are lots of pheasant and partridge too, and yes, we have two pear trees. We actively encourage the house martins as there is nothing better than sitting out with a glass of wine in the evening having them swoop over your head as they feed their young in their nests under the rafters. We have placed catch trays for droppings under the nests, but while you are there from time to time the birds may miss! We are in the country. Their cleanliness we can't always guarantee. The supermarkets are open till ten and are only a couple of miles away, a perfect combination of town and country. Buy your eggs from the neighbours, 100% fresh. And there are real farmers markets for great food. Family gatherings: Over the last few years the house has often been used for large family gatherings and events. Birthdays have been celebrated here from 30 to 80 years old. We use it for the same purpose. Open access, downstairs ensuite bedroom, huge kitchen and dining area where people sit chatting to the early hours. And in the summer, the same activity just moves to the patio. Self Builders - If you are thinking of self-build I am more than happy to explain the process. Yes, it was hard, but the end result is fantastic as you will find.
Brilliant App for the Scottish Borders - "SCOTLAND STARTS HERE", Apple or Android. Makes planning really easy. In the Borders, there is plenty for both the locals and visitors to enjoy as spring arrives. Mountain Biking Between Glentress and Keilder with lots of other off-road opportunities. As keen cyclists ourselves we can provide lock-up facilities, bike washing facilities and various tools. Golfing Golfers can play more than 20 courses on the best-selling "Freedom of the Fairways" pass: from the championship 18 holes at Roxburghe and Cardrona, to Britain's most extraordinary golf course, over the crashing waves of the North Sea at Eyemouth. For more details look for "scotlandgolfcourses" (slash) Scottish-borders (slash) on the web. More sports Archers have the opportunity to rove the forest to simulate hunting for prey, while clay-shooters can test their aim on the rapid-fire, realistic flushes. In gentle waters, fishermen can cast a fly in the hope of hooking the wild trout, grayling and salmon teeming in the Tweed, the queen of salmon rivers, and its tributaries. Whether you want to walk, run, ride, fish, rally, swim, cycle, sail, golf, abseil, kayak or climb, these are the adventures awaiting you in the contrasting local landscapes of hills, loch, moor, forest, meadow, river and coast. Out and about. Walkers can hike the Eildon, Cheviot or Lammermuir hills, and rock-climb the crags of Ruberslaw, yet also explore the beaches and coves of East Berwickshire. Road cyclists can discover the ranging countryside at their own pace on the quiet lanes of the many sign-posted cycleways, while mountain bikers can enjoy the world-class trails of 7stanes Glentress Forest in the Tweed Valley and also at Newcastleton. Off-roaders, rally drivers and even nostalgic holiday-makers in love with VW camper vans can find the freedom to roam the area's varied terrains. Motorcyclists ride the 3,000 km of roads that made local sons of speed Jimmie Guthrie and Steve Hislop champions. Horse-riders can canter and gallop through the woodland trails of Scotland's horse country. If history is your interest, there are a number of excellent historic properties to whet your appetite. I cannot recommend highly enough a visit to Abbotsford, home of Walter Scott. And for those youngsters looking for something a little extra, a number of venues run special activities to suit. And at the end of the day, exhausted, you can relax with delicious food and drink in a local eatery before you start something completely different the next morning. Selected works from the local paper, the Southern Reporter.
  • We had a wonderful stay in the Eco house for 2 nights over Hogmany. Its a truely wonderfull house with plenty of space. Comfortable and spacious rooms for everyone. The house has everything you could ever need. Being surrounded by the fields is a huge bonus. We wanted relaxation and that is what we got. I definitely wouldnt hesitate to stay here again!

    Sonia2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This eco home is wonderful. Spotless, full of facilities and an excellent host who (with a refreshing sense of humour!) is incredibly helpful and very humble of the beautiful home he has created. Couldn't be more helpful and we will certainly be back (if he'll have us!)

    Nicki2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house for a group or a family. Good location for getting out and walking, although we were inclined to spend quite a bit of time lounging in front of the woodburner on the comfy sofas!

    Louise2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was a fantastic host, we had good communication leading up to our visit where he recommended local walks and a fantastic recommendation for a place to eat- Ancrum Cross Keys is a great spot, much more than your average country pub for quality food and wine and the loveliest staff. The accommodation was super clean and tidy and just as we hoped it would be. The wood burning fire kept us extra toasty and we had everything we needed. Set in the most beautiful surroundings the Eco house was just as we hoped- a cosy autumnal stay in the borders. Thanks again, Mike!

    Rachael2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful house in a great location for exploring the Borders. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here, and Mike was a genial and communicative host.

    Shona2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mike’s place is a lovely property. It is in a very convenient location, close to amenities in Jedburgh and the nearby tourist attractions. If you want to stay away from it all walking or cycling on the many country roads nearby is very pleasant too.

  • Auld Rusty where we stayed is such an amazing space. Auld rusty itself is really cosy, cold ( it was February tho) but soon heats up when you get the log burner on (all wood included). The hot tub and outside fire made our weekend magical, sitting in the hot tub while our tea was cooking looking up at the stars. Your hosts are great people, really friendly and I would really recommend going on the tour to see their farm. We had an awesome time. Walks are great too and the pubs have lovely food. Overall really friendly and was just brilliant. Will deffo be back. Massively recommended!

  • Wow ! Just returned home from a 2 day stay at auld rusty and it was magical. So relaxing and quiet. Shane and Emma where super quick to respond and really helpful. The hot tub was outstanding we even made it too hot the first night but some time with the lid off it cooled it to perfect temperature. We are booking to stay again ASAP as it was just perfect.

    Ashley2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time here at Emma and Shane’s place in the auld rusty and would highly recommend for anyone to stay. The location was perfect for myself, husband, our little 5 year old and our springer to get away from every day life. Was so relaxing being in the hot tub on the evenings. The log burner was perfect and made the hut so cosy and warm, beds are so comfy too. We did the farm tour with Adele and John which we all loved especially our little boy they were both so helpful. Thanks so much for a great time :) can’t wait to see your new one your having done xx 10 out of 10 for the stay and the hosts xx

  • Auld rusty is so peaceful, off the radar and also nothing is more perfect than to get away and spend time with loved ones. Auld rusty has been a delight and became such a massive part of myself and my partners life. We were there in March and we book again last mum for the 19th to the 21st of December. Unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to me having the flu and walking with two crutches. Each time has been a delight and we can not wait till 2020. Thank you for having us again. Merry Christmas Emma and Shane:)

  • Sandy's place is a real gem. If you're looking for peace and tranquility you'll not find anything nicer. The room was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, and Sandy had thought of everything. Breakfast was a lovely extra touch, and again very generous. Sandy is a five star host - friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you!

    Jennifer2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed on night but Sandy had thought of every detail - she'd even left snacks and breakfast for us. The kitchen was well-equipped - a proper cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine - even an iron and ironing board. You could comfortably stay for a week . Everything was scrupulously clean and fresh. The bed was really comfortable with quality bedding. Sandy lives above with a very friendly dog, but he didn't interfere with us. We could sit outside in the sunshine. It was too far to walk into Jedberg as there was a very steep valley between Sandy's house and Jedberg.

    Frances2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet accommodation in a beautiful setting but close enough to walk to town, helpful welcoming host, darling dog. Excellent value for money.

    Joanne2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming and bijou self contained ground floor studio apartment in a small stone cottage, perched on a hill above Jedburgh, up a single track lane. It appears to have no immediate neighbours other than the owner's family, so if you like a quiet life while away from home, this is perfection!

    John2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy's cottage is great place stay and experience Jedburgh and the beautiful surrounds. We couldn't have been more comfortable. Thanks Sandy.

Come and enjoy the peace and tranquility that the countryside has to offer with our offgrid converted horse Lorry. We have created a camping experience with a twist. At the site nests a converted horse lorry that sleeps five and a converted pony trailer that houses all your cooking needs. Theres a separate composting toilet and an outdoor shower with heated water. Theres also the option of cooking on the fire pit or just laze beside the flames under the stars.
'Field Of Dreams' is situated in one of the fields part of Sunny Bedrule Farm with stunning views of the rolling hills of the Scottish borders. The farm works with cows, sheep and red deer and we offer the chance to take a tour on the farm to see these up close and personal with more details when you arrive. During your stay you would be welcome to explore the hills and fields of the farm with the chance of spotting all sorts of wildlife from badgers, wild deer to buzzards. The site also sit nexts to a popular walking route called the Abbeyway walk that takes you to our local towns of Jedburgh and Denholm.
Bedrule is a hamlet in the historic county of roxburghshire in the Scottish Borders. With only a handful of cottages and houses that are dotted around Bedrule Church. The very popular Abbey Way walk passes right through bedrule linking the towns of Jedburgh and Denholm where you would find shops, pubs and restuarants.
  • An absolutely fantastic and stunning location. Brilliant accommodation for family of 5. Sleep in the horsebox and cook in the pony trailer. Composting toilet and an amazing gas powered shower. Storm Dennis didn't make life easy for us but we had an amazing trip and plan to return in the summer so we can go the through 'the secret door!'. Farm tour was superb too and a brilliant extra for the kids. Thank you. Would highly recommend!

    Aileen2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Bedrule celebrating my little boys 5th birthday. The horse box was immaculate, the amenities everything we needed (we were even pleasantly surprised with the shower!!) and the location was idyllic...even during Storm Ciara! Mornings were cold as expected however once the fire was on we were cosy in no time. The marshmallows were a lovely touch, we lit the outdoor fire when it got dark and toasted them under the stars. The farm tour was wonderful, John and Adele were so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We will definitely be returning in the summer.

    Kirsten2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay out the way of every thing , peaceful relaxing , log burner gets the place toasty, definitely coming back with the children 👌

    Chris2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place and opportunity to get back to nature with the addition of some home comforts. Field of dreams is exactly what it was, we have cooked our breakfast and evening meal outside on the firepit. Sat under the stars at night relaxing and enjoying the show, whilst quietly preparing for the year ahead. Even the morning that we woke up to -3 didn't put us off as the frost glistened on the ground we lit the fire and warmed up with a coffee and a cooked breakfast. We have loved our stay and will most definitely be back with friends to share the experience with them. We traveled out each day to Jedburgh, Kelso and Harestanes countryside visitors center especially for the dog. Each being within 30 minutes of field of dreams. Lovely little towns and well stocked with pubs, shops and things to do. We've loved our time and experience.

    Emma2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant location for those wanting a secluded break! Spotlessly clean, super accurate listing and brilliant communication with the hosts! Bring candles though as the solar power didn’t last too long for me! Once that log burner is on its amazing!

    Wayne2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just home from a fantastic weekend at Sunny Bedrule. Wasn’t sure what to expect from staying in a converted horse box however it was just great. The location could not have been better. The views were fantastic and it was so peaceful, a great retreat from everyday life. We can recommend the farm tour. We were taken round the farm in an UTV and saw the Highland cows, 4 day old calves, sheep and the deer. It was very frosty on our first morning (which looked amazing) but we were really cosy inside with the fire on. The kitchen horse box had everything we needed, we cooked breakfast and dinner on the gas bbq. We will definitely be back and might even go to Shane’s other horse box, Auld Rusty, as it has a hot tub!!

    Nancy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • A charming space perfect for escaping from the world. Lots of rustic charm!

    Ben2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just spent a great 3 nights at sunny bedrule with the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children, 7 and 9). Unfortunately the sun did not shine all the time but it was late October in Scotland so we were prepared with wellies and waterproofs. Despite this we managed 2 camp fires to roast marshmallows which were even complimentary! The facilities are great with a gas bbq in the cooking horse box and a shower with warm water (if you can brave the cold for a short while). The composting toilet was also better than expected but due to the overcast weather the solar light in the loo did run out so we were glad of having our head torches! The beds were comfortable and things were spotlessly clean in the horse box and with the log burner on it was very cosy. We became a dab hand in fire lighting and this meant it didn’t take long in the morning to get warm again after the colder nights. Another review suggested bringing a candle and this was a great suggestion for some light and ambiance when the kids were asleep. There was a solar light in both rooms but they both had to be on at once. We survived being off grid and there is phone signal if you needed it. We enjoyed board games as a family. We managed to book a farm tour which was wonderful and we would highly recommend this. We spent a great hour in the farm buggy seeing the highland cows, deer and other farm animals along with numerous facts and information. The children and adults enjoyed alike and we would go again when we come back. There are great walks from the horse box and in surrounding areas and we very much enjoyed our recommended walk up to the magical wood near by. There are abbeys and points of interest nearby also. We also went to Teviotdale leisure centre in Hawick which had a slide and a good pool and we made the most of the showers too! The local village Denholm has a reasonable pub and we had a lovely Italian meal in another restaurant the village.. The Denholm Meet. They even did takeaway if you had wanted. We had a nice brunch at Born in the Borders which is close by. All in all it was a great few days and we are looking forward to returning.

The Townhouse is situated in the centre of Jedburgh, close to all amenities. Jedburgh is steeped in History - Mary Queen of Scot's House is 3 minutes walk from my place. The Castle Jail is 12 minutes walk and well worth a visit. The train to Edinburgh is 20 minutes drive from Jedburgh at Tweedbank and Scot Rail operate a half hourly service. Off peak return is £11.20.
The Townhouse is a great place to stay when the Common Riding is happening. This is called "Jedhart Callants Festival". You get a birds eye view when the horses come in after a rideout, when they congregate in the Square - just outside the Lounge and Kitchen windows. If you Google "Jedhart Callants Festival" you will get the correct dates for 2017.

As the pub does not serve food on a Monday Ronald helped us out with pasta and sauce which tasted like haute cuisine after a long day walking. We enjoyed their company and it felt like we knew each other for a long time. We can recommend them wholeheartedly and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • Terrific house for a family get-together. Lots of space, and really well equipped. Would highly recommend.

  • The Cabinetmakers is beautiful and we had such a great time. The weather was a bit of a mixed bag (sleet one day!) but we stayed lovely and cosy, the woodburner doing its job well! Garry was easy to get in touch with and we would have loved to have stayed longer - will have to plan for a return visit when summer arrives! The house is very homely (with plenty of space for our group of 8 adults to never get on top of each other) and easily accessible, great to have everything you need from your door and in a great position for venturing further out to explore.

  • A beautiful house in a great location, with lots to see within walking distance. All the rooms are spacious and very comfortably furnished. The artwork throughout the house is a particular highlight. Garry was a very responsive and helpful host.

  • The Old School House is a really well thought out property. You have everything you need for either a weekend or a longer stay. It is especially great if you are a Fisherman, a nice big sink and area for prepping your catch, or if you have a toddler, a sink within 6 ft of the dining table for keeping on top of dinner time spillages!!!!! Once you get the fire going, it's just a wonderful cosy space. Quiet and peaceful, plenty parking and would easily hold a bigger group. There were 3 adults and a toddler in our group and we were rattling around. Everything you would expect from an AirBnB, lots of local info and a really well equipped kitchen. Thank you!

  • This was the perfect space for my week in Jedburgh! The location is central, and convenient - everything I needed was in walking distance, and Amy was easy to get in touch with when I had any questions. The bus stop is an easy walk away so no worries if you don't have a car! I'm a solo traveler and was looking for a place to stay for a week that would give me some quiet time to relax as well as some things close by to explore if I felt like it. Jedburgh is great for that! There is lots of history, a couple charity shops, gift stores, and free as well as paid entry attractions. The flat was clean, and bright - I loved the big open windows that let in lots of light when I wanted it, but there were plenty of curtains for privacy as well. After long days out walking and exploring, the shower/tub combo was just the ticket, especially with such a nice showerhead - lots of surface area and plenty of water pressure. The kitchen was perfect as well, with everything I needed from spices, to coffee pot, to toaster, and washer and dryer as well. The bed was very comfortable, with a nice cozy duvet and lots of pillows. Seeing the abbey from my bedroom every night before I went to sleep was such an atmospheric bonus! I would definitely stay here again :)

    Lilly2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect relaxing location! Right in the center of town close to everything and easy access getting in from the street with still a private feeling inside. Loved this place!

    Jaimie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We needed accomodation at quite late notice and we were also unsure of arriving times each day. So we were thankful that Amy was very accomodating (pun?) and responsive to requests despite being in the US. The flat was lovely and homely and very well placed to eat out, which we were grateful for as we ran around in the rain desparately trying to find a restaurant that served food after 8:30pm.

  • Ancrum is a lovely little village and great as a base to explore the Scottish Borders. The cottage is on the village green with a public playground at the back and a fantastic garden which is very well kept. Parking is good, we could always park right outside. Well equipped space, nice beds/bedding, plus a handy welcome booklet with useful info. The stairs are an unusual design at the top but once you’ve been up and down them a few times you get used to them! We had a great stay! Thanks

  • This place is great. Great location for exploring the borders. Hosts were very fast in communicating, and the place is lovely with lots of charm... the pub was great also

    Dave2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, beautiful cottage, light and airy super views from garden, needs garden loungers. Plenty of logs for fire. I’m from the borders and didn’t know Ancrum, pretty village. I’m conflicted about Airbnb as it removes so many homes from the housing and rental market.

    Ottoline2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the cottage. It was very clean and well appointed. Lovely back garden and within walking distance to the local pub.

  • Really beautiful, cosy cottage which was spotlessly clean. Fab garden, nice village and brilliant pub right opposite. We didn’t want to leave!

    Elly2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Violet Cottage. We had had to reschedule our stay from earlier in the summer for personal reasons, and Peter couldn't have been more kind and pleasant to deal with in helping us find alternative dates. All communication and check-in information was clear and helpful. We were travelling with a baby and Peter provided a high chair and travel cot, which was already set up with bedding on when we arrived - a real plus. The cottage is immaculately finished with beautiful touches like the wooden shutters in the back bedroom. We loved the large kitchen / dining room which felt very welcoming and was fully equipped with everything we needed for self-catering for three days, with a lovely big range cooker. We even made an apple cake with apples from the tree in the back garden, and spent lots of time eating, drinking and playing games at the big table. The sitting room was also lovely, with a woodburning stove which we never got round to lighting because the central heating was so effective. There were ample towels and lovely soap and bodywash in the bathroom. The garden was great for my older son to run around in, with a back gate leading out to a path and a nice play park just round the corner, which was ideal. We loved the village, and the local shop is very friendly and great for basic stores. We had lunch at The Cross Keys pub just a minute's walk across the village green - it was delicious and perfect for both us and the kids. One day we went up to the Harestanes visitors centre just a couple of minute's drive away on the other side of the A68, and that was fantastic - a lovely big play park, a nice track for my son to ride his bike round, and a wonderful indoor play area with wooden games which entertained the adults as well as the kids. Most of the craft shops there were closed when we visited on a Monday, but we will definitely be back to explore more. All in all, a perfect relaxing break with absolute peace and quiet and yet lots to do just on the doorstep - we are already planning our next visit. Thanks!

Come and stay in my comfortable, relaxing, rural home that is cooried in a large sheltered garden between a river and an attractive sandstone cliff. An ideal place to escape the city and relax with family or friends. There are many outdoor activities and attractions around the area for days out as well as nearby walks or just chill out and relax in the sunny conservatory, enjoy a picnic or bbq under the apple tree or cosy up in front of the woodburning stove when the weather is less appealing.
There are 3 large double bedrooms. A lovely sunny conservatory where you can have morning coffee even on rainy days. A sitting room with a woodburning stove and very comfortable sofas to relax on. The radiators are run off the woodburning stove in the living room so you will need to be able to light the fire to heat the house. In wintertime, if you are used to centrally heated houses you may find it cold in the rooms other than the living room. Wood is included. A well-stocked newly installed kitchen with a dishwasher. A piping hot walk-in shower in a newly installed bathroom. A private garden with a lawn that is big enough to kick a football around.
Jedburgh is a small attractive historic small town, home to a 12th-century abbey. The Scottish Borders is famous for its outdoor activities and its beautiful countryside. There is an app called Scotland Starts Here that has a lot of useful information and ideas for activities, amenities and places to visit. It is available at play store and may be worth downloading.
  • A beautiful cottage, with lovely hosts. The kitchen is brand new and had virtually everything you could need for cooking and baking. There are so many books and games to keep you occupied, you can sit in the conservatory, reading, watching the many birds and the river flowing by. A wonderfully well stocked fridge and cupboards had more than enough for breakfast for us all. With a nice walk along the river and up through the woods from the house, you can get out and about without driving anywhere, but there are loads of great walks nearby in just a short drive. Loved it, we will definitely return in the future.
