Places to stay in Coaldale
Beautiful mountain home on 40 secluded acres in the rolling hills, located between the Royal Gorge and Salida. There are trails on the property and the Arkansas River is two miles by car. Gold Medal trout fishing and white water rafting make the Arkansas River a perfect destination. Due to enhanced cleaning procedures and the requirement to block days off before and after each guest, we are changing to minimum four day bookings. We expect to open the house for booking in mid June.
The house has two bedrooms and two baths, with a sofa sleeper in the living room. King tempurpedic mattress downstairs and queen tempurpedic upstairs. Main floor has open layout with kitchen, dining and living room all open. Bedroom and bathroom are separate. Upstairs bedroom has open stairway (think loft but not as open) and private bath. Screened-in porch upstairs and large patio downstairs. Hot tub is outside with mountain views. Full kitchen with dishes and dishwasher. Laundry room with washer and dryer. Gas BBQ grill on back patio and horizontal smoker available for the more ambitious. During the stay-at-home period, we expect to remodel the master bathroom and will update pictures upon completion.
Centrally located between the Royal Gorge and the vibrant town of Salida. Hiking, rafting, fishing and relaxing are our main attractions.
  • Rick is an outstanding host that was incredibly available, hospitable, and an excellent guide to the surrounding towns. The space is absolutely gorgeous, and an outstanding value if you want a relaxing retreat in the mountains. It's close enough to towns to make for fun day trips but secluded enough to make for a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the world. You really can't beat this place and this host for this value!

  • Rick & Tracy's place is amazing. I and my wife enjoyed so much. Google can find the place without any problems. Rick and Tracy are also nice and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay so much. Next time when we visit Buena Vista or Great Sand Dune National Park, we will definitely stay there again. Thank you guys so much!

  • Words and pictures do not do this place justice! It’s absolutely gorgeous. Every window has breathtaking views of the mountains and stars. We loved how homey and secluded it was, but still close enough to get to town to enjoy lots of fun things. And no day went by without a soak in the hot tub. Rick was a wonderful host and provided snow shoes and sleds for our use. We hope to return soon!

    Carrie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic!!

  • The most amazing airbnb experience I've had

    Kyle2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was the best Air Bnb that I have stayed at. Rick was an excellent host and the property was outstanding.

    Trevor2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great at place to get away from it all. My family of 4 enjoyed 6 nights in this home and it was awesome. There is plenty of private land for on-site hiking and the best view. Locates close to Arkansas River for rafting and fishing and close to Monarch Mountain for skiing. We'll be back in late summer for some fun in the sun!

    Dominick2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the best AirBnB we’ve ever stayed at; top to bottom. It’s a beautiful home with breathtaking views, and ample trails to explore and hike around the property. Then you can relax in the hot tub. You’re tucked away from everyone and can really get away from it all here. The best part was the amazing hospitality from Rick and Tracy. They are very kind people. They greeted us with the most delicious banana bread, and were so helpful from when we booked through when we left for anything we needed. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Backpackers and tent campers welcome for now. Maybe some smaller campers, I did clear out a nice camper spot with views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. No actual building on the property so come and enjoy Nature in a quiet area with plenty of wildlife and soothing views.
Amazing views to take in at Jack and Cody's Mountain Retreat. This is a lightly developed 6 acres where backpackers and mostly tent campers can come stay for a night while traveling. Longer stays definitely welcomed, come enjoy the beautiful mountain views and amazing Sunrises and Sunsets.
The Mountains are amazing just witnessing the changes from day to day is humbling. Small towns nearby have some great genuine people, rushing rivers, and great coffee.
  • We had an excellent stay at Cody's campsite, it was beautiful! Cody was so friendly and knowledgeable! The property is BEAUTIFUL and so peaceful! We can't wait to come back!!

    Ashley2020-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cody and his pups were absolutely wonderful! Great views from the campsite and a perfect place to just relax for a couple days. Our three dogs had so much fun in the area. Highly recommend!

    Emily2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! One of our favorite trips!

    Bridget2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cody was a great host and he has a beautiful property. Definitely recommended!

  • Beautiful spot in the mountains complete with a fire pit, hammock, and adorable dogs to greet you!

    Logan2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far my favorite spot during my stay in Colorado! Cody was so nice and genuine with us and was the best host we could’ve ever asked for. His hospitality and personality were so nice I would most definitely come back! Also his two dogs Jack and Maya were definite bonuses on the trip. Cutest dogs ever!! :)

    Laura2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • If y’all want amazing views and great hiking trails just a few feet from the campsite, I definitely recommend staying here. Checking in was great. Jack, Maya (the pups,) and Cody were all great hosts. Cody made sure to help us with our stuff and is extremely amicable. My puppy had a great time for his first birthday

    Stephanie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Parking was easy to find, GPS led us right to it. The pups greeted us followed shortly by Cody. Cody was one of the best hosts I've met and it was a great night. The camping spot was a short walk from the car and had plenty of trees for hammocks and ground for tents. Only thing better than the stars at night was the sun lighting up the mountains in the morning.

  • Cute spot along the Arkansas River. Cafe had good road food as well.

    Jennifer2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for a night, wish we would've made it earlier to enjoy the river. Had the basics and that's all we were after! Thanks!

    Kyle2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible location along the Arkansas river. Make sure you have good directions (Google maps failed me). This was my first time in a pop-up camper, and I am glad I tried it.

    Andy2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • very comfortable for weary travellers and so beautiful that it makes you wish you had planned an extra day to enjoy the river and get a meal at the cafe.

    Brenda2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We contacted Rhitt when we arrived a bit earlier than expected and he welcomed us to come ahead. Marlyn had turned on the air conditioner and left a key for us and we were set. Unfortunately our phone service was not great, but wifi helped, and Rhitt provided his landline for us to make a call to our daughter who was meeting us. The room was clean, the linens and towels soft and comfortable. We were happy for a coffee maker and microwave and fridge. This place is conveniently located for sites in the area including whitewater rafting, the Royal Gorge, and Salida. We took several motorcycle tours while we were there and enjoyed those as well. I highly recommend this place.

    Nanette2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Marilyn was the host during our stay and she was wonderful. Very friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. She even had extra special treats for our dog and our toddler. We will definitely return whenever we are in the Arkansas River area.

  • The perfect getaway to gaze on the mountains and take in the scenery. Paul’s place has so many details to walk around and take in, including several antiques and beautiful artwork. If you go for a walk, there are beautiful horses down the street. We also saw a buck at sunset. Paul is a fantastic host who’s happy to help with anything and his place is truly a gem.

  • If you’re looking for a peaceful and quiet getaway in the mountains, this is the Airbnb for you. Paul’s home is filled with incredible art and sentimental touches that will blow your mind. We especially enjoyed his stained glass, vinyl collection and the view of the mountain range from the bedroom window. HIGHLY recommend!

    Charisse2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place is located in one of the most scenic spots in Colorado. The views from his property are amazing, as is his wonderfully eclectic home. Filled with beautiful artwork, instruments, historical artifacts, it is like staying in a museum. Paul loves to interact with guests and has amazing stories! We really enjoyed our stay with him, and wish it could have been longer. The bedroom was very comfortable, and we were treated to a lovely eggs & coffee breakfast. We highly recommend his place as a truly unique Airbnb experience!

  • Amazing man on amazing land. Stay for a while.

    MysterE2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This really is more than just a room. Paul's beautiful home is tucked away at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains (you get a spectacular view from bed). Only 20 minutes from Salida, it's the perfect getaway with beautiful decor and design (the clawfoot tub is to die for and the bed is so cozy!!) and Paul has really thought through all of the little details to make your stay really special. We will definitely stay again!

    Allie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space in a breathtakingly beautiful setting. Paul is a fantastic host as well. I would definitely return!

    Dan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The best Airbnb I’ve been to. Such interesting and thoughtful decorations and so many little amenities everywhere. Paul has great taste and he’s an interesting guy. Definitely recommend.

    Derek2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We decided last minute to stay at Paul’s place and we are SO HAPPY we chose Paul as a host! He is a lovely and energetic person who spends his days making art and collecting antique things to decorate his terrific house. You can have long pleasant conversations with Paul whilst sitting on his sunlit porch. You literally wake up with a mountain view from your bed (very comfy btw!). You have a whole bathroom to yourself with a victorian bath and huge shower. I will DEFINITELY come back to Paul and his place if we’re ever nearby again! Thanks for all Paul.

Stay in a 2015 Airstream International whom we affectionately call, Judy. She is located in Sugarbush Campground in a premium spot. Surrounded by ponderous pines, spruce and fir trees, sitting aside a babbling brook running through the property this is the perfect base for your Arkansas River Valley adventures! We have lived in Judy for two years before purchasing Sugarbush Campground in Spring of 2017. Very cozy and surprisingly spacious for a 25' trailer with impeccable design.
A small living area/dining table in the front folds down into a deep couch or a twin sized bed. There are 2 T'V's, one in the living area and one in the rear bedroom. Judy has a Clarion surround sound bluetooth/USB port/DVD-BluRay, speakers in the front and back. We are leaving our library of DVD/BluRays for your enjoyment. We have provided kitchen utensils and cookware you may need during your stay. There is a refrigerator and freezer, three burner propane stove with oven and vent fan. A coffee maker and filters are stocked. Shower, toliet and bathroom sink are in Judy. You will find hotel quality bedding and towels along with shampoo, conditioner and shower wash. We have Elemente, a local handmade Salida line, hand soap and lotion products. There is a "queen" sized bed, the corners of the mattress are rounded so this isn't a true queen. Plenty of storage for your belongings. The climate control system; air conditioning, furnace and heat pump. We live at Sugarbush Campground so we are available at any time if questions come up. We will do a walk through to introduce you to Judy and make sure you are comfortable. We provide a fire pit, picnic table, and two outdoor chairs with a small table. We offer RV & tent sites at Sugarbush if you would like to reserve a spot for a larger group. Sugarbush Campground is located 13 miles east of Salida and minutes from away from numerous outdoor activities.
Judy is situated in our campground, Sugarbush Campground. www.sugarbushco.com
  • We had a great experience staying in the Airstream without the hassle of towing and setup etc. that comes with owning your own rv. It is comfortable and modern and very clean in a nice setting. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Susan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay and would stay again in the future.

    David2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The camper is in the back of the campground, away from other campers, which is a nice touch. It was a quiet location surrounded by trees. The site has a picnic table, fire pit and a small table in between 2 chairs. The camper is clean and has everything you need including heat and A/C. It is a great place to get away and decompress.

    Susan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect place to glamp, will not disappoint

    Frank2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I enjoyed our time at Judy. There was plenty of space for both of us, The little boutique campground was fantastic and it was wonderful being able to cook and eat in Judy. Great launching pad for hiking and other Salida activities.

    Michael2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing stay. The location and the airstream are a perfect base camp for exploring the San Isabel forest. We had absolutely everything we needed! We will definitely stay here again.

    Rachael2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a great experience in the airstream. Totally want to do it again! Love “glamping.”

    Heide2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very much enjoyed our stay in Judy. Lily was easily accessible when we had questions. We've never stayed in an Airstream and loved the experience. There is more storage than you'd think and we very much enjoyed exploring all the nuances the space had to offer, of which the bluetooth stereo system in front and back is a big plus. Watching and listening to the adjacent burbling stream was great. Warming up to the provided fire pit (yes even in the summer!) helped round out the day. Whether you're knowledgable about Airstreams or not, you'll come away satisfied with your stay.

  • Really nice Cabin. CHARLEY was great!

    Rabit2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Charley's place. It was quiet and spacious, with easy access to the surrounding National Forest. We saw several herds of mule deer, had a great view of the stars, and enjoyed some of the nearby hiking opportunities. The cell service was excellent, and we were only several minutes from town. I highly recommend staying here.

    Jacob2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place!! The name of the house says it all. Wish I could spend every weekend there. The views are amazing!

    Brandon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome cabin nestled in the hillside. The cabin has everything you need besides groceries of course but the local supermarket in Westcliffe has everything you need. Very majestic place would recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway!!

    Stephen2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Charley’s place. The view was amazing, and great location to get around. It was quiet and spacious. Appreciated all the help during the trip!

  • Charley, our host, is one of the true hosts in the world. He loves supporting in very kind and sweet ways. Literally no question is too much for this guy. We arrived at this little "writers retreat" in the dark having no idea what we would wake up to. The surprise the next morning was pretty over-the-top with views AND the most quiet of quiet places. We drank our morning coffee in awe. Digital Detox is a great name for this place; a place to re-center and to rest into nature. Highly recommend - especially if your a reader/writer sort.

    Sarah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • If "silence is golden" this cabin should be called king Midas Cabin. Complete tranquilly and quiet is achieved in this amazing cabin . This was our second time in westcliffe and the stars were actually even more beautiful this time. Do not forget to visit the local sugar and spice bakery but keep in mind they are closed mid December until late January.

  • My daughter and I had a lovely mountain getaway. The cottage was clean, and had thoughtful extras like a few cooking essentials. It is updated, and such a light and pleasant place to stay. The surroundings are beautiful, mountains all around, and so peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed sitting in the willow grove with the sound of the stream and chirping birds. The nearby Rainbow trail was a nice hike, but a little too sandy and rocky for our level of mountain biking. Looks more suited to ATV's. I would definitely come again!

  • Beautiful spot. Perfect to relax.

    Kristin2020-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hillside Colorado Cottage's was an absolutely divine place to stay for a weekend exploration trip of Southern CO. The location was unparalleled for both sunrise and sunset views, and the property was isolated yet still accessible despite it being winter and experiencing some recent snowfall. The cottage itself is the perfect size for two people, we loved it for a romantic getaway, and offers an impressive kitchenware collection. We look forward to coming back in the summer months for another stay!

    Jordan2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay in a modern cabin setting -- clean, comfortable, with everything you might need in the kitchen and bathroom. Very helpful and responsive hosts. I loved the beautiful walks along country roads -- just a short distance down the road and up towards the Sangres. This is a great location -- a real gem.

  • Clean, cozy, peaceful cottages in Hillside. Scenic drive to Cañon City. We enjoyed our stay.

    Stephanie2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed during Christmas week and had an amazing time . The pictures don’t do justice ! The scenery is so beautiful and peaceful. We packed a cooler full of food and the cottage had EVERYTHING we needed to cook! The shower is a great size and the water heated up quickly. Comfortable bed and well heated stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the city and enjoy the mountains .

    Calli2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, surprisingly easy to find! It is about 45 minutes to Salida, a very cool town but otherwise not near many stores, etc. The place was so cute and the perfect size! The views were beautiful and it was easy access to the Arkansas River. Thank you so much!

    Sara2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay as I knew we would being a repeat visitor and all! We love the location with all the wildlife + breathtaking views, the cottage is always sparkling clean, and it’s loaded with everything you need! The personal touch of their Peppermint + rosemary lotion, shampoo, + conditioner is so refreshing! I always buy some to take home with me! We caught our own trout and grilled at the cottages. We enjoyed their provided coffee and they conveniently have a fridge, stove top + microwave. Towns are close by if you want to eat out or stroll the town. This is our all time favorite place to stay in CO!

  • If you are looking for a convenient place to stay to enjoy the outdoors and don't like camping in a tent, this is the place for you! The camper is stocked with all the amenities you need! They have a nice patio and a fire pit to enjoy sitting outside. The hummingbirds were so fun to watch! I was a little concerned about privacy because the camper sits right next to the owners house but once you pulled around the camper, it felt as if you had the mountains to yourself! Lisa is a great host!

    Rita2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was awesome! We had a great stay at Lisa's RV, it was very clean and had everything we needed. Lisa was a great communicator and a wonderful host. We will definitely stay here again when heading to the mountains.

  • The RV is located near the highway, but honestly we didn't hear any traffic and we slept with the windows open. It was spotless, comfy, and parked so you felt like no one was around. We would stay there again for sure.

    Brenda2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in Lisa’s trailer! It was much roomier than we expected, it was very comfy, clean and the thoughtful touches were appreciated. We loved walking around their pond. Also, Lisa’s local tips were outstanding!

  • Just book it.

    John2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, both the rv and its location. Lovely place to wake up and see the mountains. Lots of accommodations and just an overall relaxing place to be. Highly recommend if you are passing through this area.

    Dani2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you are considering this camper, stop thinking and just book it now! Holy cow, this place was way cooler than we expected. The place is totally decked out with amenities and is super comfortable. At night, we got to build a campfire right next to the camper and sit in lounge chairs while we told jokes and gazed at the billions of beautiful stars only available in places like this. One tip to people who have never stayed in a camper before: Take your showers really fast. My wife and son got to learn that one. I guess I should have warned them, LOL. We can't wait to come back as there is so much more we want to do and experience and we just plain loved this place, that much.

  • Impeccably clean old farmhouse with a beautiful view! Wood burning stove was fun in the evening.

  • What a wonderful stay! Christe was very quick to respond to all inquiries. The space was immaculate! They even started up the wood stove so we’d have warmth from the chilly night. The view was spectacular! Her suggestion to meal at The Alpine Lodge was spot on! Best meal of our trip! Highly recommend! 5/5 would stay again if I’m ever in the area.

  • This cottage is a great way to escape the busy, fast pace of city life. The hosts were very good with communicating everything we needed to know, they made sure several times during our 5-day stay that we had what we needed. The dogs were precious, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the living room with the wood burning fire stove was incredibly cozy. We brought lots of board games for our family to play, as we just wanted time away from the hustle and bustle. It had just recently snowed several inches, so our two young kiddos enjoyed playing in the snow. Mark and Christie were incredible hosts. We are so glad we chose this place!

  • Way way way better than expected. Loved staying a 15 minute walk away from town and right on a hiking path along the river. So comfy. Everyone was kind and hospitable. I stayed in the dorm which was hardly populated that week so I lucked out. Would definitely choose to stay here over the other hostel in town ( which I have stayed at many times). This is definitely for those who want a chill vibe with great WiFi and muffins fir breakfast. Loved it. ❣️❣️❣️❣️

We are one of the few remaining small towns of America to hold on to most small businesses, so as you enjoy this town you will not see any corporate influence. We are so happy to show guests the joys of living here and what our quaint town has to offer.

The Views are so grand here. Wonderful get away for rest , relaxation, with many things to do, sightseeing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and more, all close by, our little Western town of Westcliffe is only 20 minutes away for shopping gift shops, restaurants, bars, Art galleries , many festivals/concerts during summer months , about 45 mins. away from the famous Royal Gorge Bridge, river rafting, ziplines. Bishop`s Castle is 1 hour away.
The bunkhouse has starter items for you.. coffee, coffee filters, sugar, creamer, cooking oil, salt, pepper, dish soap, liquid bath soap, shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper, wood for the wood stove and wood for the firepit if the Sheriff`s office will allow it. There are 2 sets of bunkbeds giving 4 beds, then in loft there is a twin air mattress and a full size mattress giving 3 more sleeping areas. Should be able to sleep 7 people. There are bedding, towels, wash cloths, microwave, large fridge, coffee maker, electric skillet, crock pot, ceiling fan, wood stove and propane heater , small T.V. with VCR tapes. Sorry no satellite/cable, and no wifi. It has shower/ no tub. Must be able to climb ladder to get into the loft bed area, sorry no children allowed in the loft ...adults only because of the ladder acsess to bed. There is a propane cooker outside , with grilling options. There is no housekeeping during your stay, and a $50.00 cleanup fee will be charged for the duration of your stay.
Usually pretty quiet here in the country , the views and all the activies are what it`s all about.
  • We loved our stay at Tammie’s bunkhouse. We took our 1 year old son with us and he had a blast seeing and petting the horses. The stable has pretty amazing views during the day and it’s in a perfect location for star gazing at night. Tammie and Terry were great hosts and made sure to give us tips on things to do in the area. Definitely will come back!

A very unique Airbnb experience — great accommodations that are actually surrounded by horses and beautiful views! We will return again and recommend to all of our friends!

  • Wow! This was one of the best AirBnB experiences my family has ever had. The view is incredible. The Barn is incredible. The remote setting is incredible. The hospitality is the best I've had on multiple continents. We cannot say enough great things about the location, the hosts, and the overall experience. Thanks, Tammie and Terry, for making our family vacation unforgettable. The kids are still smiling!

    Chad2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tammy is a great host and was wonderful to chat with about life in Westcliffe (I had a ton of questions since I'm considering the area for retirement in a few years). Their mule was just precious. One morning, I was scratching behind his ear and he rested his head on my shoulder and then pulled me in a little closer for a snuggle. Make no mistake, this is a rustic country living experience. Embrace the piece and quiet and absence of city distractions (which is what I am looking for in retirement) and you will have a great time.

    Jeff2019-07-14T00:00:00Z

    Jillian2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wow is all I can say about this cabin in the woods!!! We weren't quite sure what to expect taking a long weekend to Westcliffe but Rocky and this cabin nailed it! We were never found wanting. It was super clean and well thought-out. The one thing the description doesn't say is how beautiful the morning sunrise and sunsets are and the stars... The stars are plentiful in this location! He's a wonderful host and we look forward to coming back to the cabin in the future.

  • The experience my 15 year old son and me had was incredible! The cabin was was amazing. The mountains were beautiful! We will go back again, Rocky the owner goes out of his way to make sure your stay is great! I highly recommend staying here!

    Amy2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Westcliffe recently for a friend's wedding weekend and stayed at Rocky's place, which turned out to be exactly what we wanted and needed - a quiet, peaceful, magical retreat tucked in the Sangre de Cristo mountains where we could relax, unwind, and recharge after each evening of celebrating and socializing. The mountain view is amazing and the cabin is beautiful, cozy, and stocked with everything you will need and more. Per the listing, just be aware that there is no wifi in the cabin (we used this as an impetus to read!). But the cell reception is great. So you're not at all stuck unplugged if you don't want to be. Rocky is an incredibly generous, gracious, knowledgeable, and welcoming host. He was extremely helpful, making himself available via phone and text during our stay, and was quick to respond to any questions we had, whether it be about refilling the hummingbird feeders or giving directions to local hiking trails. He is also extremely funny and pleasant to talk to and really made us feel like we were staying at a friend's place instead of in an Airbnb. We loved being tucked in the mountains and enjoying the mornings by sipping hot coffee and watching the most beautiful little hummingbirds zip around the porch. It's a truly special place with a special host. Neither one will disappoint!

    Mia2019-06-09T00:00:00Z

We have intentionally tried to preserve as much of the ranch house as possible while still updating the house to today’s standards. The most notable piece of history is the Monarch cook stove in the kitchen, the doorways and doors that are not as tall as today’s standards, the original wood floor in the master bedroom and original moulding around some of the doors. The house is a 3-bedroom, 1-bath house with all the amenities from home. We hope you enjoy our little piece of ranch history!
The ranch house was built sometime in the early 1900s. We aren't sure of the exact date. It started out as a one or two room house. Throughout time additional rooms have been added on.
The ranch house is located on our family's ranch which has been in the family since 1890. Our family came to Colorado in 1865 prior to the Civil War before Colorado became a state. While staying at the house you can look out the window and see the horses in the corrals. If you walk to our corrals you can see pigs and cows depending on the time of the year. Our ranch house is conveniently located approximately 5 miles from the town of Salida. If you're into fly fishing the house is within waking distance to the Everett Fishing Lease on the Arkansas River. You can also hop in the car and be there in a couple minutes. If you wish to go to Mount Princeton Hot Springs the house is about 20 minutes away. If your planning to go skiing, Monarch Ski Resort is about half an hour away.
  • Extremely accommodating for last minute rental due to a change in travel plans. The owners were always quick to respond and went out of their way to provide extra attention to sanitizing during our travels at the beginning of recent pandemic. Plenty of room for a family of five. The owners are very friendly and offered local suggestions and updates. The property has an interesting history and alot of special touches. It is located on a working ranch and we frequently saw wildlife grazing nearby as well as the farm animals. We can not say enough about the beautiful 360 degree panoramic views that their property affords. Very peaceful & quiet surroundings, yet close to the hidden gem of the town of Salida. We hope to return again in the future to experience all that a different season has to offer at this homey ranch.

And the views from each window were just lovely! This is by far one of my fave places I’ve stayed on air Bnb. Just super quaint, quiet and everything you could want in one spot! Thanks!

  • What a great, affordable option for visiting Salida! We came to ski and it was a nice midway point for Denver and Durango friends. The house was clean and cozy, communication was easy, and everything was well above our standards at an affordable price.

  • This place is truly amazing! The house has a cool history feel (because it is) and is very cozy. The property is beautiful as well. The check-in process was very simple and Brady and Kim are very nice people!

  • Patricia was an excellent host! She greeted us upon arrival and made sure we had everything we needed after giving us a tour of the cottage. The space was super cozy and clean!

    Briana2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia was the most gracious host. She gave us lots of local tips, was generous with her time, and had the most lovely space. The cabin was delightful, cozy and warm and beautifully decorated. My only wish is that I could see the garden in the summer! The tiny kitchen has everything you need. The sofa bed with the memory foam surprised me with how comfortable it was. The studio is right in town, and walking distance to the quaint downtown.

    Jessica2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is cute and cozy with everything we needed. It was very clean when we arrived and Patricia was kind enough to wait up for our late arrival. When we got in, she showed us around the cottage and made sure we had everything we needed. She also had a bunch of great suggestions for restaurants and attractions in the area. Her hospitality was unmatched and I cannot wait to return! While there, we visited the Royal Gorge Bridge and Bishop Castle. I highly recommend both.

We are located on a 1500 ft. stretch of the Arkansas River, 3 miles from downtown Salida. Our rural setting is beautiful in every season, offering amazing views of the mountains and river. Your guest suite is located in a separate private section of our home with its own exterior entrance, bathroom, and kitchenette.
Our guest space is very peaceful and the king bed is quite comfy, so expect a great night's sleep! The main room is spacious, quiet, and filled with natural light. The bathroom is for your use only, and features a stone and tile walk-in shower. Your suite is separated from the private portion of our home by a locked door in the adjoining hallway.
There are only a few homes down here along the river, so it's a fairly quiet environment. You can expect to see many varieties of birds as well as deer and red fox. The fishing is pretty good on this stretch of the river, and there are stocked ponds in the Ouray Wildlife Area just downriver a short walk from our place. The surrounding views of the mountains and river are spectacular along our country road!
  • Lisa was a FANTASTIC host! She was extremely friendly and welcoming. The place was amazing as the scenery outside was incredible and the amenities inside were much more that what I expected. If you're looking for a great stop in Colorado, I highly recommend you stay here!

  • We absolutely love staying with Lisa & Dave! Their property is stunning and the perfect place to rest/relax. But if that weren’t enough, Lisa and Dave really seal deal. We will continue to stay with them each visit to Salida

  • A true hidden gem! Delightful hosts and a beautiful home in a gorgeous setting!

    Donna2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our visit was wonderful. The bathroom is newly done and they provide extras for you if you need it- first aid kit, cotton balls, hair dryer, shampoo, etc. There was an extra pad for the sofa bed which made it super comfy for the kids. Lisa had great communication with us before, during, and after our trip. They are very friendly hosts. They helped us get the grill ready to grill burgers for dinner. They provided some snacks, coffee, and tea which was an extra bonus. Overall we enjoyed our stay and getting to know Lisa and Dave. I highly recommend this place if it fits your needs and the size of your family.

Cabin style home against San Isabel National Forest along the Sangre de Christo Mountain range. We have a little pond, creek and awesome views to get yourself into the trees and into nature while being cozy. We are yards away from the rainbow trail that gives access to hiking, hunting, mushrooming, bird watching and access to the 14'ers. Our peaceful setting is fantastic and if you get up early you may see the Turkeys coming by and the dear and elk in the meadow.
Come to this place with family, friends or alone to get away. We have all here for you to relax and sit on the deck amongst the trees or enjoy the stunning views of Wet Mountain Valley and Pikes peak. We have a back door and trail into the National Forest
Our home is in a very private and serene setting your neighbors are Wild turkeys, squirrels, dear, elk and humming birds in the summer (May - September depending on temperatures) The only other humans are 1/2 mile away and we hardly see them when we are up there.

  • This place is such a gem! I wish we were able to stay longer! Hearing the little waterfall and birds at all times was so tranquil. The house has everything you need from movies to shampoo. Katarina called before we left to firm up when we would arrive and checked in on us when we got there, which was very thoughtful. We hope to be back again soon!

    Krystle2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cabin with modern finishes, wall heaters in each room and a special location tucked away. We hiked in the snow and admired the beautiful views. The kitchen is amazing and well supplied. Just remember to bring your Roku stick - there is no cable or broadcast tv available. Otherwise a memorable and peaceful weekend away!

    Andra2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Katarina’s place was much more than we expected ! Awesome location and the house feels just like home ! 10 out of 10 recommend to anyone looking at this cabin !

    Eneida2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Katarina is a excellent host and was very responsive with all of our questions. You can tell that she puts a lot of care into her home in the mountains. Her place was a great getaway to escape it all. Very quiet and secluded, but only a short drive to the nearest town in case you forgot to pack something. The house was completely stocked with everything you could need during your stay and was labeled so you could easily find what you were looking for. Very comfortable beds, everything was very clean and there were nice appliances. If you want to get out and do something else, there was a list of several things to do in the area, but we spent our time there hiking around during the day and watching movies at night. We couldn't have asked for a nicer experiences and wished we could have stayed longer, but are planning to visit there again. Thanks for the great weekend getaway!

  • Best place in Salida!

    Mike2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place! Very comfortable and larger than it appears in the pictures. The location is unbeatable! Nice kitchen with eat-in seating and TV. Super-comfy nice couch and leather chair in the living room with TV and plenty of seating in the dining area. Perfect for remote work and recreation both. Two very comfortable bedrooms (one king with good-sized closet and one queen with it's own attached half-bath). Also nice shower in the main bathroom. The back porch worked well for keeping our snowboards, skis and winter gear safe without having to drag it through the house.

Aframe cabin on the Arkansas River. Great for fishing and/ or rafting. 1 bedroom- queen size bed, and a loft. Ladder access. Must be able to make the short climb. Kitchen and essentials for cooking, small fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker. Grill and picnic table. I can leave the key for you so you can check in anytime. Pets are additional $10, we have ice onsite and a cafe open wed- sunday
Howard- not really any services here. Salida is 20 min. There is a farm across the river to view animals. She sells fresh eggs too!
  • Definitely recommend! Super friendly helpful staff who treat you like you’re a friend not a client. The A frame was spacious, clean and everything we needed plus has mountain view’s from the front porch and it’s right on the river. Plenty of privacy but everyone there is friendly if you feel like socializing. There are plenty of activities nearby and there is a personalized guide book. Be sure to say hi to chicken Alfredo! (Rocky Top’s resident chicken) Thanks Rhitt! You’re a pumpkin!

  • This place is right on the river with beautiful mountain views and lots to do. Our host Rhitt went above and beyond and made us feel very welcome. Robins Roost is Modern real Log Cabin living, quiet, cozy and quaint. A 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with beds for 6 people and plenty of space for a few more if sofa's or sleeping bags on the floor suits you. Close to the Royal Gorge (35 mins), fishing and white water rafting on the Arkansas River ( 15 mins), skiing at Monarch (1+ hr), and public lands for exploring, hiking, and hunting you can enjoy Colorado outdoor living and adventure at it's finest. Wifi provided but cell service is limited.
Robins Roost offers amazing views from the front porch, you can sip coffee sitting on the Balcony outside the private Loft bedroom or make s'mores sitting around the outdoor fireplace. There is also a full size pool table in the basement for you to enjoy. All bedding, towels and basic toiletries are provided. You'll find all the cookware (pots and pans) and table service you'll need for your stay. Need to do some laundry? A washer and dryer is also available for your use. Firewood for the wood stove inside is provided, if you want to enjoy the fire-pit outdoors please consider bringing your own wood. Recently purchased, Robins Roost isn't new to Airbnb but was listed by another name be the previous owners. That's why you won't see a lot of reviews but I'm confident you'll find the cabin accommodating, clean and well kept. I recently remodeled the kitchen, installed a new propane "wood-look-a-like" stove for ambiance and safety and new sliding patio door.
Cotopaxi has a general store where you'll find fuel, basic supplies, groceries and a cafe for a great breakfast or lunch. Otherwise major shopping is about 45 minutes away in Canon City or Salida.

  • 100% recommended. Our stay was even better than expected. The subtle touches make all the difference. Very clean. Great location. Awesome recommendations. Fire pit and hot-tub were a addition to our evening which also included take out pizza and a movie in the airstream. Can’t beat it!

Overall wonderful, zero complaints. The hot tub was really nice to come back to after a long day of sight seeing. Highly recommend.

  • The amigo motor lodge is such a cute place! I had to check in late and they were so accommodating. It was easy to pull up and get settled. The airstream was clean and super stylish. In the guide they said they have “surprisingly good coffee” and they are right! In the morning the staff was friendly and kept the coffee flowing on the lobby! Traveling alone I was nervous but I felt very safe there. I would definitely stay again.

Bienvenidos a Casa Sandoval! Originally built in 1908, this adobe casa housed railroad workers for decades. Recently brought back to life with fresh charm and an uplifting vibe, this warm abode is a perfect place from which to explore Salida, the Arkansas Hills trails, or go ski Monarch. After a day of adventures nestle in by the fire with a good book and mug of cocoa. Whatever you do, you're sure to feel the magic of Casa Sandoval. **Book now to lock in these introductory rates!**
Nestled against Tenderfoot Mountain, Casa Sandoval is perfectly situated both in and out of town. On the other side of the Arkansas River, Casa Sandoval's quiet half acre comes with great views of the night sky, the Sangre de Cristos, and the Collegiate Peaks, and is yet a mere 5 minute walk to the "F street bridge" and downtown Salida. Trailheads to the Arkansas Hills Trails system are roughly 100 yards from your front door to boot! The house itself has an open kitchen and living room with the wood burning stove of your dreams. Big windows and french doors offer 180 degree views of town and the surrounding peaks. You'll find two warm bedrooms and TV room/ study in the back of the house. The celestial bathroom will take you to new heights as well. Finally, as you settle in, you may begin to notice that Casa Sandoval is unlike any other vacation rental in which you may have stayed. The magic of this land drew the Sandoval's who lived here and worked the railroad for over 70 years. Hard to put into words, there's something inspiring and uplifting--invigorating and reassuring. Kind of like a good hug from your favorite college professor, or the satisfaction you get from finally solving that rubix cube. The pieces just seem to come together here.
Its Salida! Enough said. Go have a cup of coffee and a scone at the local coffee house. Wander the shops and galleries. Go listen to a concert at the Steamplant. Grab some pizza at Moonlight or a whiskey at the mayor's distillery. But if town's not your jam, then wander the trails and the hills up behind the house. Maybe rent a bike in town? Go out a little further and get into the Sangres or the Collegiates. If it's warm enough, go jump in the river. Or if there's snow, make the 15 minute drive up to Monarch Ski area. Really, you just can't go wrong.
  • This place was incredible and was the cutest. The style and history was amazing and the location was in the best spot. Close enough to town to walk and hike.

    Katrine2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you are planning to visit Salida, we would highly recommend staying at Casa Sandoval! The house is conveniently located across the river, a short walk to all the Salida shops and restaurants. We loved the mountain views from the windows and the close proximity to town. And the hosts were very responsive. Loved everything about our stay and can’t wait to return.

  • This was the best air bnb experience I’ve ever had. It was a perfect, private get away for my husband and I. The space and energy is incredible. So much intention and hygge has gone into this place. I appreciated that they had a coffee grinder and French press, and offered some tea options as well. It’s within walking distance of downtown- it’s just across the River. If you’re visiting Salida I highly recommend staying here.

  • This place is an amazing, peaceful, and cozy little sanctuary. Plenty of space for a small group (two couples) or just a short weekend retreat for two. The fireplace is just the cherry on top of the already wonderful ambiance. We will definitely be back during the warmer months to utilize the outdoor fire pit and adorable porch that all has a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. The hosts were great with communication and their managers were more then accommodating with any requests.

  • My stay at Casa Sandoval was great! The house is adorable and very clean! The host was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Wood was even sorted and stacked for easy use of the wood stove. The door code was also provided a few hours prior to check in to ensure there was no stress upon arrival. It was also comforting to know that the host was available by phone the entire weekend if we had any questions or concerns.

  • We loved our stay at Casa Sandavol! It was the perfect place to relax after a weekend of skiing at Monarch. We were big fans of all of the aesthetic choices, the rugs, tiles, books, etc brought the whole place together. The wood-burning fire place was a nice touch too. Such a beautiful house! We will definitely stay here if we visit Salida again!
