Places to stay in Coalbrookdale

Places to stay in Coalbrookdale
Set in a quiet south facing position within the Ironbridge Gorge, the comfortable room in our 1860's house has a countryside feel whilst being within walking distance of local restaurants and some of the many museum sites. Ironbridge is a historical village set in a steep sided valley with narrow roads, we are situated at the top, and are an easy 12 minute drive to conference venues in Telford Town Centre. Enjoy our home-baking and great garden.
Quiet part of town. A bright bedroom with original Coalbrookdale fireplace that comfortably fits 2 and, with a squeeze, a baby's travel cot. We can adapt room to double or 2 single beds. Contains desk and wifi. Spacious underfloor heated shower room with toilet and basin. Fabulous views of the area from our enchanting garden in which guests are free to wander and use as they wish. Breakfast is included in the price with a choice of home-baked bread and jam, our own fruit, porridge, oh and eggs if our hens have laid!
Ironbridge is where much of the world as we know it began and walking through its narrow streets past old houses and over the iron bridge itself you can feel its history. We see and hear none of the noise or sights of modern Telford, however its handy to have near by its urban conveniences of cinema and supermarkets. There is lots for visitors to do in the immediate area, also within a 20 mile radius: walking the Shropshire hills at the Long Mynd; the Severn Valley railway; wander the market towns of Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury, National Trust properties.
  • Lovely place with great view. *really* nice people picked me up from Telford!! Will be back next year.

The area is perfect for a family holiday, or a long weekend away with friends. Located just opposite Dale End Park, across the road from a supermarket, and just a gentle stroll besides the River Severn to the bars and restaurants.
Furnished to a high standard, the house benefits from a well-equipped kitchen, comfy couches, and we put duvets on our SilentNight beds. We like our guests to feel comfortable when they're here and so the property will have been professionally cleaned and you'll find fresh towels on the beds. Ironbridge is on the doorstep of the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area isn't too large to explore by car, in a weekend; or if you're keen on walking, take the week. Ironbridge is also close to Telford with regular buses from the car park around the corner. The house is within a few minutes from a well-stocked Cooperative Supermarket, Dale End Park, The Malthouse (live music on the weekends, (typically indie rock)), and The White Hart, which serves great food, wine and beer. The amenities of Telford has improved greatly over the last few years and now benefits from all of the chain restaurants, many shops, and a selection of high-specification cinemas.

  • We had a great time. This is a private room inside a house with a private bathroom. There is everyrhing you need for fast meals (a microwave, a fridge, plates, mugs,...) inside the room but you don't have access to the kitchen wich was fine because we didn't need it. The room is really lovely and clean and the bathroom is perfect. Would recommand.

  • Had a relaxing weekend away with friends at Yvonne's lovely home. There are lots of little extras and special touches that makes you instantly feel at home. The house is in a perfect location, near museums and a short walk from Ironbridge whilst being very peaceful. Loved exploring the surrounding area - so much to do. Definitely recommend getting a pass for all of the museums, they are brilliantly done, and spending lots of time walking in the countryside before exploring the local pubs!

Sparklingly clean, sumptuously comfortable beds, great kitchen and a cosy fire to enjoy - it ticks every box. Yvonne was extremely helpful at every stage. Can't recommend Yvonne and Penny Black Cottage more highly. It's a treat in every sense of the word in a stunning part of the country. I will be back! Many many thanks.

Very large room in converted Grade 2 Listed chapel dating back to 1760. Free parking, bathroom, flat screen TV, free WiFi, tea and coffee and self-catering facilities in room. Flexible check ins. Gorgeous location on a nature reserve, between Ironbridge & Telford (2.5 miles to centre of each). 8 mins to International Centre (IC). Ideal stopover. Renovated chapel and small holding situated down an idyllic, rural gravel lane but around 2 miles from Telford town centre, Ironbridge, local hospitals, business parks, the IC (Telford International Centre), Lilleshall sports Centre and the M54 and M6. This room is on the private top floor. We live downstairs and have a communal front door. We offer this listing at a discounted rate so guests booking this listing will be accommodated in one of three rooms, allocated on arrival. All our three rooms have received excellent Airbnb reviews. If you have any queries on this please ask. For an additional £3.50 per person a breakfast package can be provided in your room should a guest request this before arrival. Late evening arrivals can book a hearty home cooked evening meal for an extra £10 to ensure a warm and restful welcome. We can add beds to this double room for family groups, depending on which room is available. Pairs of guests wanting to add extra beds to a double room may add one for a charge of £6 to cover the additional laundry and room prep, and the use of a bed from another room. Larger groups bookings are ideal for large families. We would of course ask groups of adults to book a second room as we want all our guests to enjoy a five star experience with us and you may not get this if you choose to accommodate four or more adults into one bedroom. We usually have other rooms available and it is a nominal amount to add one to this booking. The rooms have beautiful woodland views and our guests have use of a large fully equipped bathroom that we the host family won't use when we have guests booked in. Free parking is available in a private layby next to our house or safely further up our little lane where we park our own vehicles. The property location ensures peace and quiet with no passing traffic. Free Wi-Fi is available as is a paid laundry service. Our dogs never go upstairs.
Chapel House is located down a beautiful, historic, semi rural, no through gravel lane with no passing traffic. It is built upon a nature reserve and offers lovely woodland walks and views. We are just 6-8 minutes drive from both Telford and Ironbridge centre.
  • Lovely lady. I literally checked in then had an emergency so couldn't stay the night but from what I saw it was very nice. Laura was very welcoming and the house is pretty

    Kate2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a absolutely amazing stay . Such a thoughtful host and so helpful. House was beautiful and very comfortable. Could not recommend high enough.

    Dan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Telford Chapel is an ideal base from which to explore the area, being just minutes from the Ironbridge Gorge attractions. The host, Laura was quick to respond to my questions and able to accommodate my change to our initially agreed on arrival time. I found parking in the layby up the street from Telford Chapel most convenient with just a short walk to the house. Laura met me at the door and offered to upgrade me to the en-suite room which I found cozy and comfortable. It had more than enough amenities for my needs. The house was quiet, the mattress just perfect for me, and the duvet comfortably toasty; all the perfect ingredients for restful sleeping. Telford Chapel felt like my home away from home. Pro tip: on the walk from the layby to the house, slow down and cast your gaze to the heaven's above, the sky was clear and the stars brilliant. I would certainly stay at Telford Chapel again.

  • This place is a wonderful example of the beauty of using AIRBNB. I felt instantly at home, Laura is delightful and very welcoming. I got a real sense that I was in a wonderful, happy, family home with a rural feel to it... heard the pigs outside when I came through the gate which was lovely. Amazing building with many original features. Room was big and spacious and exactly as Laura had described it. Fantastic value for money. I will definitely be coming back here and look forward to meeting the children next time! As a single traveller with a grown up family, sometimes on the road with work, this place was perfect. Thank you xx

  • A quiet, simple, spartan room just off the family living space is hosted by a young family in an established part of Telford. A fast 10 minute walk will put you at the International Center or the main shopping and dinning area just north of the International Center. There’s good WiFi and Ralph the small white terrier is always happy to see you. Your SatNav or Google maps will get you close to their place. But you will need to follow the door numbers down to the far end of the row to find their unit. Let them know when you’re close and they can turn the lights on.

CORONOVIRUS UPDATE: During this crisis, we are not allowed to be hosting people holidaying in Ironbridge. There are some limited circumstances under which you can stay, so get in touch if you want to find out more. Thank you.
Carpenters Row Cottage dates back to 1783 and is a Grade 2 listed building, part of the fascinating history of the Ironbridge Gorge. The cottage is comfortable and spacious. It sleeps 4 guests in two bedrooms, plus a further 2 guests on a well sprung sofa bed. The location is great for visiting the famous Ironbridge Museums, walking, cycling and sampling the many local pubs, restaurants and cafes. The Cottage is also an excellent base for exploring further afield in Shropshire and beyond. The space is flexible, practical and comfortable. The master bedroom has a lovely antique double bed and an en-suite bathroom. The twin room has two single beds which can be zipped together to create one super-king sized bed, so whether you are two couples or a family you will be well catered for. The double sofa bed in the open plan dining / living room provides yet more flexibility. Dogs We do allow responsible dog owners to bring their pets, but would ask that you restrict them to the downstairs open plan area using the child gates provided and do not allow them on the furniture. History of the property. Carpenters Row is an early example of accommodation built specifically by the Coalbrookdale Company to attract a workforce to its employment. The row originally consisted of eight cottages and two brew houses. The design of the row was symmetrical: numbers 1-5 were mirror images of numbers 6-10. Each house accommodated the workforce using a system of 'hot bedding', workers from one shift occupying the straw mattress beds from the other, approximately 15 persons per house. So at one point in history the three converted houses that you will be staying in would have once housed around 45 workers. Each house also performed a certain function: the brew-house, which is now the kitchen, housed the old cast iron pot which can now be found in the rear garden.
Carpenters Row Holiday Cottage is just a stones throw away from the Ironbridge Gorge Museum of Iron and Enginuity ( an interactive science and engineering muserum for children of all ages). The closest pub is just a few minutes walk and the area has lots of cycle routes and many lovely woodland walks starting from the doorstep of the cottage. The Museums use a passport ticket system, which on their website says.... ''The Annual Passport Ticket represents fantastic value. It allows unlimited daytime admission to all 10 Ironbridge Gorge Museums, during normal opening hours, so you can return as often as you like for one year. If after 12 months you have still not visited particular sites, you can return at any time in the future to make one free visit to the sites that you've missed'' Within walking distance of the cottage there are a wide range of pubs, cafes and restaurants in the Ironbridge Gorge area. The area also offers opportunities to fish, canoe, golf or visit the Greenwood Trust and learn traditional crafts such as making a coracle or a wicker basket. Exploring the wider area : Shrewsbury is 16 miles away (historic town centre with many independent shops and original timber framed buildings) The Wrekin hill is 5 miles Much Wenlock 6 miles (wonderful Priory and authentic ancient town centre) Church Stretton and the Long Mynd 26 miles (interesting shops and the starting point for walks in the South Shropshire hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Ludlow 26 miles (beautiful ancient buildings, castle and known for being a 'foodie' mecca. See our airbnb guidebook for our recommendations. We think our cottage is perfect for a long weekend, a short midweek visit or a great base for a longer stay. We hope that you come to visit again to take full advantage of everything Shropshire has to offer.
  • Absolutely beautiful cottage that did not disappoint. Every amenity that you require and a proper home away from home. Thanks again for your help and support during our displacement during the floods. Would definitely recommend!!

    Stewart2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We booked our stay last minute and from the first email sent, communication was friendly, clear and concise. Information about checking in was comprehensive and directions easy to follow. On arrival we found a gorgeous and stylish cottage with plenty of comfy home touches and coordinating decor, the wood burning stove made for homely cosey evenings in especially from the floods and rain we encountered but this didnt hinder our plans! The cottage has everything you want and need, it is so spacious and it was a super bonus that our dogs could join us too. Our son loved the giant bean bag and the local lino print and art works in the frames were beautiful. The cottage is in the perfect location for exploring the area, Enginuity and The Museum of Iron are just on your doorstep within a 5 minute walk. There you will also find the Darby houses and Furnace Kitchen, each worth visiting with the Museum Passport - well worth the money. Other attractions in the area we visited were the Jackfield Tile Museum and the Blists Hill Victorian Village, the village sells a broad range of goods from the shops and replica stalls complete with actors in character and again, dog friendly. All of the attractions were engaging with great staff. Overall, Carpenter's Cottages was a fantastic base, lots of walks from the door with or without dogs, plenty of attractions, lovely local shops, cafes and spectacular sights such as the Iron Bridge super close by. Great hosts as well with a touching greeting card on arrival complete with delicious chocolates, treats and drinks. The en suite was a welcome touch and the shower is wonderful, the wi-fi was steady for us and the board game collection was a nice touch for entertaining our son. We can not wait to return in the summer time to explore even more that this lovely place has to offer and will without a doubt book this same cottage again.

I'm really fussy when I stay away from home and I always look for 3 things.. A comfy bed ✔ A Long mirror ✔ and a powerful shower ✔ and this cottage had all 3! We walked down with our dogs into Ironbridge Christmas Eve to be stumble upon a live brass band and carols on the bridge! Perfect! I would 100% reccomend this cottage. The hosts were lovely and left us some mince pies, Chocs, Mulled Wine and a bottle of Fizz for when we arrived. Water bowl and poo bags for the dogs were supplied as well which was fab for us as we forgot both ! Thanks for a lovely stay. Lisa , Rob, Frank & Flash xx

The Old Coach House is a detached annex of our Georgian property and overlooks the much loved Memorial Gardens in the centre of Broseley. Recently renovated to a high, modern standard with a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, The Old Coach House is an excellent base to explore long country walks among ancient woodland, discover what Ironbridge Gorge has to offer with its 7 museums and attractions, or step things up a gear cycling and canoeing along the river Severn.
The accommodation comprises of a large double bedroom, open plan living area with compact sofa bed, kitchen, dining and lounge area and a separate shower room. An excellent base to explore. Situated overlooking the world famous Ironbridge Gorge, Broseley is an early industrial town and home to one of the seven fascinating Ironbridge Gorge museums. Take a stroll through 'The Jitties' of Broseley Wood and find the picturesque town of Ironbridge unfold before you. After your adventures you can leave the hustle and bustle of the tourist trail behind you to taste real Shropshire life in the many traditional pubs, cafes and restaurants on your doorstep in Broseley. The property is situated set back off the main high street and overlooks the beautiful towns memorial gardens.
Broseley has strong links with the early industrial revolution. By the beginning of the 17th Century it was a thriving industrial settlement having close links with Coalbrookdale, on the other side of the River Severn. In the 18th and 19th centuries it developed into a major centre for coal mining, iron manufacture, earthenware manufacture and a variety of associated activities. The famous Iron Bridge was built in 1779 to link Broseley with Coalbrookdale and led to the foundation of the town of Ironbridge which is now part of a World Heritage Site. This early industrial activity has resulted in a settlement of remarkable character. The architecture is a mixture of three centuries of building styles in a hilly and wooded setting mixed together in a delightfully haphazard manner. Dates for the diary Ironbridge Walking Festival http://www.ironbridgewalking.co.uk/ The team behind the hugely popular annual Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival have launched their long-walks programme for the 2019 festival. The event, running from 4 - 12 May, is offering more than 50 FREE walks over nine days, making it probably the biggest in the West Midlands and one of the best in the country. The festival offers a number of ‘themed’ walks ranging from two to 21 miles covering a whole host of topics from the wonderful landscape and geology of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site to the wildlife that inhabits The Gorge’s ancient woodlands Broseley Festival https://www.broseleyfestival1.co.uk/ Broseley festival is a free 2-day music event held here in Broseley. The High Street is closed off from traffic with the mainstage situated at the very top of the high street and a smaller more family orientated stage situated in the Memorial Gardens directly in front of the property plus the opportunity to visit the funfair. Usually held on the 3rd week end in June..please be mindful that we overlook The Memorial Stage, so it's a little noisier that weekend!
  • Lovely little spot, very cosy and beautifully decorated. Really great base for exploring a gorgeous bit of countryside!

  • We loved our weekend stay in this cosy air bnb. It's very clean and stylish with thoughtful touches like bread and milk on arrival. Broseley town has everything you need for a couple of days and there are plenty of walks and sights nearby.

    Sharon2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A really cosy little place offering good value. The sofa bed is a bit small for 2 children but there is a futon mattress which worked well for us. The bedroom is really comfortable and relaxing. Terry was really friendly and helpful and the bread, milk and beer on arrival was a nice touch. Also all the information regarding things to do and places to eat was very helpful. We really enjoyed exploring the surrounding area which has loads to do especially with kids. We got a years passport worth £70 with our Tesco club points which enabled us to get into all the local museums for free which was a bonus.

    Katherine2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy and stylish place to stay! Broseley is a charming little village and an ideal base from which to explore the Ironbridge region and has a couple of good restaurants too! The couch house is compact but has everything you need and is very comfortable. Terry and Nina were extremely welcoming hosts. We’d definitely stay here again!

    Katy2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • First class location in Broseley which still boasts independent retailers, cafes and bars. At the head of the valley it’s a total work out for cyclists - the hills into Ironbridge are amazing and once you’ve worked out the short cuts not TOO bad coming back up! Terry was an excellent host and gave me some great local walking tips- the accommodation was first class, clean, well appointed and comfortable - and as a massive bonus for me, as I like cooking, it’s the first Airbnb I’ve stayed at with a proper sharp kitchen prep knife - nice one Terry! I shall, if invited, be staying again. Thank you so much

A beautiful large Victorian 4/5 bedroom house nestled in the heart of Coalbrookdale with stunning views across the valley. The house can accommodate up to ten guests.
Coalbrookdale, a short walk from the famous Ironbridge, is jammed packed with charm and interest. In pretty much every direction from the house are paths leading you on different walks, up through the woods, down into Ironbridge or around the museums of the gorge in Coalbrookdale. The closest pub, a mere 100 meters from the house, the Coalbrookdale Inn, is fantastic, serving a wide variety of beers and ales and often having live music. • Great place in a good location. Anna and James were very quick to respond to any communications. We arrived to a really clean house, with a bottle of wine and some eggs, bread etc. A nice touch. Very convenient for the Co-Op and an easy walk into Ironbridge. I can recommend the Coracle micropub at the far end of town, a very friendly bunch. And a pretty good chippy too. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this house and will probably return when we come back to Ironbridge.

  • Couldn't recommend the flat enough. Cute & cosy, couple of extra touches make it feel like home for a few days. Ironbridge is a great spot for a walk (Laura has a set of cards left in the front room we used) Very clean & tidy when we arrived & easy to access. Plenty of car parking options & food/restaurants/pubs.

  • We loved our stay at this flat in Ironbridge. It is central to see all the museums, restaurants and shops. It also had a fantastic view of the square by the Ironbridge.Laura was a very good host and communicated well with us. Check in and out was easy.

  • Wonderful location right in the heart of Ironbridge. Very comfortable flat. Just be aware that most restaurants close Mondays and Tuesdays. Sorry to have missed the Severn Bistro and Greys Tea Rooms. Oh well next time.....

  • Very comfortable flat, spotlessly clean and a great location - centrally placed, so short, easy walking to the various pubs and restaurants Ironbridge has to offer. Laura was a great host and the information pack she provided covered everything we could think of asking!

  • Laura was kind enough to let us have the flat from 11 am. We appreciated this as we arrived in pouring rain. ( the sun did shine after that and for the whole weekend). Immaculately clean with all the mod- cons you need. Warm and cosy in November. Lots of nice touches- quality toiletries, milk in the fridge, home-baked cake and more. The location is fantastic- views of the Ironbridge. Walking distance to many sights and museums. Plenty of parking in the square because we went in low season. We can recommend fish and chips from across the road. Sunday lunch at the Woodbridge, Coalport was very good with river views, wood fires, excellent service. We’d definitely go again! Thank you to Laura.

  • We have just returned home after a fantastic 2 weeks holiday. This is the first time I have used AirBnB for a holiday stay - with family, I normally need places to stay when working. We have stayed in plenty of places in the past but this one certainly ticked all the boxes for us - quiet, brilliantly equipped, comfortable, which made our stay perfect. Lorraine and her husband could not have made us more welcome. The local area is such a pleasure to be in - lots to see and do. Whether you need somewhere to stay while working, a break or a holiday - highly recommended.

  • It’s a great, clean, well- appointed place. Remote, and take care on the driveway if you’re on a bike! But lovely people and very handy for some beautiful country and rich heritage. Broseley has most things you might need in terms of provisions and is walkable. I was there for a specific reason but wouldn’t hesitate to recommend for a holiday.

Beautiful double room, shared bathroom within a period Georgian home. The house is very quiet and immaculately clean. I have also added tea and coffee facilities to make your time here as comfortable as possible. I have WiFi, free public parking and a comfortable eating/dining/living space as well as an open plan kitchen. I am a live in landlord however I work in retail, and aim to allow you privacy at all times. I do have a full time lodger who is also very clean, private and respectful.
The neighbourhood has lots of handy spots such as a co-op, takeaway places, cash points, barbers/hairdressers and much more. It is also just walking distance from The Place - the local theatre and library. I can highly recommend the following places to eat/drink/visit during your stay: - The Fighting Cocks Pub - 2 minute walk - Oakengates - Bangla Pride Curry House (take your own booze - opposite the pub) - The Ugly Duckling, long lane, perfect for a romantic meal - locally sourced produce
  • Superb space very close to Telford and very well fitted with extremely comfortable bedroom and a beautifully converted lounge/kitchen area you can use for meals - everything has been thought of!! Also very easy check-in.

  • Had a lovely stay! Such a lovely home (not least with the Christmas decorations!) and the room was gorgeous with nice thought-out details to make it extra comfortable. Lexie was so nice as to arrange for her mother to check me in as I arrived too early for herself to be there - so recieved a warm welcome with a tour of the house :) Only met Lexie briefly as we had differing schedules, but she was very nice and friendly! I were in central Telford for most of my stay, and it was very easy to go back and forth by bus, train or taxi, so the location being a bit outside of the city centre was no issue at all. Would definitely recommend :D

Brooke's has an open plan kitchen/lounge area, a separate bedroom with an en suite This apartment offers everything one could wish for, including exceptionally modern kitchen facilities and a comfortable living area. Best of all being in the centre you have easy access to Much Wenlock’s excellent inns, restaurants and quirky independent shops.
Great for couples seeking a romantic weekend
You & Julie know that south Shropshire is the perfect place to unwind with wonderful restaurants and places of interest, fabulous walking and cycling, and a landscape that inspired A.E.Housman and Mary Webb. Wenlock studios are the perfect base from which to explore whatever the time of year, and we wanted to create somewhere where we ourselves would like to stay.
  • This apartment was absolutely stunning. It was clean, in a great location and some cake had even been left for us. If you’re staying in Wenlock, I really recommend Doug’s place!

  • Really lovely apartment right in the centre of Much Wenlock. The apartment was very clean and is stylishly decorated and fitted out with some lovely touches. Has everything you need and obviously a great deal of thought has gone into converting the apartments into modern stylish units. Quick response to request to book, concise instructions for self check in. Parking easy in car park or on street just behind apartment. Well situated in the village/town with pubs, shops, restaurants etc right on the doorstep. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and thoroughly recommend. Thank you for the welcome cakes!

It’s a light and airy space with plenty of natural light. It’s has a large living area on the top floor and the bedrooms are a good size.
Please feel free to make yourselves at home. Fresh towels will be left on your bed. There is also a small tea room on the same floor as the bedrooms, which has tea, coffee and sugar. The two single beds can be put together to make a superking bed, if you require this please ask as it’s no problem. There is a designated parking space (no 9)
There is a large Morrison’s a few minutes walk away and there is also a local pub the Grazing Cow, less than 10 minutes walk. There are several take-a-ways a stone throw away, pizza, chicken, Greggs ect. The M54 is a few minutes drive and the Princess Royal Hospital is approximately a 10 minutes drive. Telford town centre and the international centre are a 5 minute drive away.
  • Great space. On-suite to double bedroom Nice and clean. Julie even left us coffee/tea etc Great communication. Would definitely use again. If you dont like stairs....there are a few to climb so if walking or breathing difficulties ...may not be best for you. Plenty of local shops right outside the door.......great location.
