  • Dang Dang Chalet was just perfect & although it sounds clichéd, exceeded our expectations. It was a warm, cosy & comfortable space & we hardly took any heed of Storm Jorge blowing outside. The kitchen had all we needed, the terrace would be fantastic in fine weather & the chalet is quite private. The surrounding area is spectacular & the chalet was lovely to return to after a day of adventuring. Live music in O'Neills pub on Sunday evening is only a 20 minute stroll away! Really couldn't fault the place & hope to return some day :)

  • Most wonderful stay in the Chalet for the second time. It's a cozy and magical place from where to look out over the bay and start hikes into the mountains.

  • Lovely cosy cabin in the countryside of Allihies under the coppermines. Nice for walks to the village and to the sea.. Was perfect for my needs. Quiet and cosy. I am a solitary traveller so it was also a safe space.. Thanks Sam and Nicki

  • What an amazing retreat for such an incredible value. Both Sam and Niki were marvelously hospitable and generous. I felt so fortunate to have this opportunity to write, paint and grow for give incredible days.

  • We arrived in very windy and rainy conditions at the end of the day and we couldn't believe how comfortable and warm it was inside the cabin. Everything was thought to the detail and we had a fantastic time. From the decoration to the very interesting books on the bookshelf (I now want to read the book about the Raj from start to finish). Only downside is we should've stayed longer! Loved to hear the rain and wind outside while inside was extremely cozy. The view is breathtaking and we where lucky to catch an almost full moon that we could watch from the bedroom window. We where also lucky to catch a sunny day and beautiful sunset from the cabin. All in all we hope to return for a few more days in the future. :)

Delightful cosy cabin set at the base of Pine trees in the rear garden of our bed and breakfast property. 4 mins drive (15 mins walk) from Dzorgen Beara Buddhist and Meditation Centre and a 5 minute walk / clamber to the cliffs. Castletownbere Fishing town with pubs and restaurants is 8 mins drive one way and Allihies village with beach and pub grub 14 mins the other way. Fantastic area for walking and cycling. The cabin is self catering and a selection of evening meals are available.
Mountain bikes are free to use during your stay when available. Please request when booking
The Boatmakers Cabin is on The Wild Atlantic way so everything around is special for different reasons. For a great tea or coffee or a fantastic lunch/brunch choice you must visit The Tea Room Cafe in Castletownbere which is owned and run by your hostess Lorna. For stronger beverages, we recommend McCarthy's Bar on the square at Castletownbere or O'Neil's Bar in Allihies where Irish trad musicians play on a Sunday evening.
  • A delightful, tastefully decorated cabin serves as a great base to explore the local walks and drives. A lovely couple as hosts. Highly recommended.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. David met us in person, his cabin is very comfortable and full of thoughtful touches. We required accommodation for the Bere Island Parkrun and the location was perfect. The whole area is beautiful and we'd love to go back to explore it properly.

  • We absolutely LOVED this little house! Was super homey and cosey and even better than the pictures! It was warm even though we were there in the middle of winter, the bed was really nice, and just enough room for 2 people. Would love to come back and stay again. Thank you!

  • First of all David and his wife are absolutely fabulous hosts. The place itself is nice, very clean and cozy. The cabin has large windows so you get a lot of light during the day which is really cool. The cabin is located in a very quiet and peaceful area and is in a excellent location to explore the Beara peninsula.

A welcoming, bright and warm house situated in the unique village of Allihies, on the stunning Wild Atlantic Way (WAW). A perfect base to enjoy outdoor activities, sample the local friendliness and visit some of the wonders and secrets of the WAW.
The house is a holiday retreat. It comprises a single bright, luxurious modern kitchen /dining area with full glass surround and glass double doors leading out to the garden from where there are wonderful ocean and mountainous views. A separate tv room, store room and downstairs toilet. The house can sleep 6 people comfortably, 4 adults and 2 children. There are 3 bedrooms, a master double bedroom with ensuite, a double and 3rd bedroom with kids bunk beds. In the kids room there is an extra single fold out bed. There is also a fold out sofa bed in the tv room. All bedrooms and tv room are carpeted and cosy. Off the kitchen there is a utility with washing machine and dryer. The kitchen has a gas hob with electric ovens (2), dishwasher and IPod MP3 speakers.
Allihies is at the western tip of the Beara Peninsula. It enjoys spectacular Atlantic views and sunsets. Despite it's remoteness it has a strong mining heritage and history which adds to the uniqueness of this little known gem. The landscape is rugged and beautiful and attracts many artists and photographers. Music is a regular feature in the pubs of the village where the main draw is good company and good conversation. The village also has a petrol station, grocery store, post office, modern mine museum with cafe and art gallery. Situated on the Beara way this is a walkers paradise. There are many walks for the novice and experienced walkers and much to appeal to all.
  • We had a perfect stay at Maeve's summer house. As it had been a very cold February week, Maeve kindly put the heating on ahead of our arrival - and left us some hot water bottles which were very much appreciated. The house was spotless with a well equipped kitchen and is set up well for children - the kids enjoyed a game of twister before we hit the road. Location was perfect for our stay especially as the weather was unpredictable - set in the village of Allihies with beautiful views. We were a minutes walk from local pubs and shop.

  • Beautiful house in a great location

    Natalie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, very good beds, nice view from the house. The house was very cold on arrival and took several hours to heat up which is understandable as it has not been occupied.

  • We spent two weeks in the charming village of Allihies from the 6th to the 20th of July. The House: The house is exceptionally clean, spacious and is very well equipped. The seating/dining area which is to the rear of the house off the kitchen is very comfortable and a great place to relax after a day at the beach or hiking The fact that this area is away from the sitting room allows for plenty of personal space and for everyone to find their own room. The sitting room has plenty of couches and a large TV which has plenty of channels too watch. and there is also a good collection of DVDs to look at if one wishes. The kitchen is very well serviced and everything that you would require is at hand. It is a lovely spacious area and there is a very functional utility room also. All the bedrooms (3) are spacious and well decorated with some nice touches and two of these rooms take great advantage of the splendid views behind the house. There is also a large back garden for kids to play in. Allihies: The house sits in a row of four at the top of the village and in my opinion it is the perfect location. It is approx 100m to the nearest bar/restaurant, which is great but also far enough away that noise outside the baron a busy evening isn't an issue. All three pubs in the village are very welcoming and have plenty of entertainment on various nights. The local shop is only a few yards further down the road as is 'The Coppermine Cafe', which is great spot for breakfast or lunch. Ballydonegan Beach is only about a ten minute walk from the house. It is a wonderful beach and has plenty to offer, including a charming little coffee hut. There is ample parking and the beach does not get overly busy even on very warm days. Allihies is a charming, friendly and lively village that is nestled between the sea and mountains, the scenery is breathtaking. I would say it is more scenic than Ventry and the surrounding areas in Kerry and no way nearly as commercial. The road from Allihies to Eyeries that brings you over the mountain provides some incredible views. The locals are very friendly and the welcome was always warm. It was great to sit outside one of the three pubs in the evening and have a drink or to listen to traditional music inside. We had an amazing holiday on the Beara Peninsula and we will definitely be back.

  • We had such a relaxing stay in Allihies. This was helped by the beautiful weather and of course, Maeve’s fabulous home. Everything as described. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Maeve!

    Trish2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Driving up to this quaint spot, was beautiful. Then you can park right in front of the house, and walk into a large home with a fantastic kitchen and the most comfortable beds! The views of the water was incredible, as well. Great home!

    Julia2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot in the village centre, very comfortable accommodations! Highly recommend!

    Heather2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Maeve's space is beautiful and spacious. We had six of us staying, two couples and two singles. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own privacy. The view from the upstairs patio is spectacular and it's lovely to sit in the garden in the sun. The house is in a perfect place for exploring the beauty of the local area. About five minutes walk to the beach and about 15 minutes drive to get to the cable car and across to Dursey Island. Stunning. Thank you Maeve!

  • We spent 4 days in the comfortable and well equipped cottage at Maree. Well located for visiting the Beara Peninsula. Very close to the ocean and other tourist places to hike ..... Maree is an available host easily reachable. I recommend ! For its housing at a very good value for money, you will pay the electricity and heating in addition.

  • It is a really nice place to explore the beara peninsula ... we felt very well. The house had everything we needed .. even toys for the kids. And to play with the dog Bella and feed the chickens and ducks was a Highlight for our Kids ;) the nearby village eyeries offers everything we needed: a playground, a Cafe some grocery, Pubs and a lovely coast for walks. Maree and her Family were really helpful. We can absolutely recommend Inches cottages

    Julia2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place, with a welcoming host. Lots of useful advice on things to do and where to go. Cindy's Gems was the best value family meal out - we went twice!

    Clare2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little house with lots of toys for smaller children. Maree is a fantastic host and in the late July at the Family Festival in Eyeries unfortunately changeable weather you can not blame the accommodation.

    Marc2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Maree & John are friendly hosts, we were able to chat with them several times during the stay. We had fresh eggs from their chickens as a welcome gift. The accommodation is very clean and tastefully decorated. There is everything you need to cook. A self-service laundry room is shared with all 3 units and is available outside (free washing machine, dryer for a fee). The bitch Bella is very kind to the kids and just thinks of playing! The wifi is a bit capricious, but still works. We highly recommend their cottages appear even in the Ireland 2019 Backpacker's Guide!

  • Declan's place is very conveniently located to explore the Beara peninsula. We had the entire main floor to ourselves to relax and unwind since the weather didn't permit mu h exploring on the day we were there. Declan was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed, would definitely love to stay again for a bit longer and explore the surroundings more!

  • Fantastic setting in West Cork & although we didn't meet Declan in person, as we arrived late and left early, we had everything we needed and more. He was very helpful with directions as we arrived very late and we will stay here again. A convenient 5 minute drive to the Buddhist centre.

    Jamie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy House and Declan is a super friendly person. I could bring 4 dogs inside and that's absolutely far of Irish standards. The house is a 5 star accomontation in a beautiful spot.

  • Declan’s place was excellent! Largest space we’ve had to ourselves in an Air B&B. He was very accommodating. The location is remote but within 5 minutes to town. 100% Highly recommend staying with him!

This semi-detached old farmhouse has an elevated position situated between the small village of Allihies and Ballydonegan beach which is 8 minute's walk away. It has lovely panoramic views of the hills and the sea. It has been beautifully renovated fairly recently and is warm, dry and very comfortable, with lots of light, and it has a very homely atmosphere.
The house, which sleeps four, is airy, light and spacious, and has an attractive cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove; a very well-equipped modern kitchen; and a stunning sun-room/dining room, with glorious views extending to the beach and the sea. Downstairs there is a twin-bedded room, a bath/shower room and a utility room. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with a king-sized bed, and there is a toilet/shower room. Another small bedroom upstairs is kept locked for the owner’s private storage space. The house has a nice spacious garden with lawns, plenty of parking space, a couple of stone outbuildings, and a large field.
The wonderful sandy beach of Ballydonegan is just 400 yards down the hill, and the village is 20 minutes away on foot (5 minutes by car). Allihies is a brightly-coloured, vibrant little village with a very good shop and three fantastic pubs (there are at least two traditional music sessions each week). There is the very interesting Copper Mine museum and a wonderful Cafe, and it is a very friendly place. The nearby Buddhist Centre offers daily meditation session and lovely food in a beautiful setting. The Beara Peninsula is really one of the loveliest, and least-visited parts of Ireland, with stunning mountains, rugged rock-formations, lovely beaches and coastline, extremely varied scenery, and very friendly people. There are so many beautiful unspoilt and un-crowded places to explore, and it is a wonderful area if you like walking, swimming or fishing. You can choose to indulge in utter peace and quiet, or enter easily into the vibrant local scene.

Quiet and close to nature but convenient to local services in Eyeries and beyond.
  • Conor and his wife are wonderful hosts who can give a lot of tips for the stay in the area of Eyeries. Her room is cosy and we found facilities to make a coffee or tea. Coming back to Eyeries means to come back to Conor and his family.

  • Thank you, I was very satisfied with the accommodation. The value for money is excellent. The location is quiet, roads are good, GPS is easy to find. The room is clean, welcoming, with everything in it for a few nights. I recommend to those who are not looking for luxury, just a clean, nice place to sleep. I recommend.

  • We stayed at Conor’s place on the first night of our travels along the Wild Atlantic Way. Easy to find, Conor’s place was perched on a hill overlooking the beautiful Caha mountains. The local village of Eyeries was a short walk away or there’s a bigger town about 10 mins away. The room itself is a cosy space with a private bathroom and is privately situated at the side of the farmhouse. Conor was a great host offering local information and inviting us in for a cuppa. Overall great value for money, great location and would highly recommend.

My cottage is semi detached and has two bedrooms, a kitchen/living room and a small shower room with power shower. The beach is a five minute walk away . Its a quiet getaway place perfect to recharge the batteries . Open fire and comfy beds. Private parking . Walking on the Beara Way is spectacular with marked ways . Dzogchen Beara Retreat is a must visit and has guided meditation most days. It is a Tibetan Buddist Centre with cafe and amazing views . Irelands only cable car to Dursey Island..
Allihies is a small village on tip of the Beara Peninsula . It has a sandy beach , marked walks and cycle ways .. Peaceful and safe , a perfect getaway place to recharge the batteries .
  • Sheilas place is perfectly situated for a stay in Allihies. On arrival We noticed that Sheila had left out fire brick plus lighters and wood for us to lit up the open fire. This was great and really made the kitchen/sitting room cosy on the rainy windy days. Sheila was great to deal with and she came by with fresh eggs which were delicious. It’s approx 15-20mins walk to the village and local pubs. There is a loop walk which is beautiful and takes approx. 50mins with spectacular views and is on a quiet/peaceful road. We would recommend a stay here and we will hopefully return some day.

    Linda2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Allihies is remote but worth the visit as breathtaking scenery everywhere.. The cottages are a short walk to the beach where despite its quietness it has a mobile barista with fab healthy wraps and organic fare trade coffee. There are four cottages with beautiful panoramic views from each window and feels safe as people coming and going. An open fire with a fire log and some fuel to get you going. Great bright kitchen overlooking the show jumping ponies in the owners farm nearby. The double room is cosy and warm at the back of the house with a very high quality comfortable bed, the L shaped couch also very comfy. Most importantly my doggie could come and no list of rules because as we know dog owners are very respectful. I self catered, a high quality supermarket 13km away in Castletownbere and fresh fish to buy from the Harbour there. Sheila easy to chat with and easy going. Might be my annual haven

  • My stay here was absolutely perfect. The cottage and surroundings are just beautiful! Sheila and Andy are very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed for my stay. I can't wait to visit again!

  • Nice and cosy place, good location.

    Lina2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila's cottage is a lovely, tidy place with wonderful views. Check-in was super easy and Sheila is very helpful.

    Karma2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila and Andy were such wonderful hosts. They were really attentive, made sure the fire was lighting, that I had enough of everything and in general were just really helpful & lovely. The cottage itself is bigger than it looks but is really cosy with the stove. My three young kids and I had plenty of space, and it was so lovely to see Sierra the horse across the window! The stairs is steep but we managed fine with a little help for the youngest. It was so helpful to have all the facilities catered for - there were lots of towels, lovely coffee machine, kitchen condiments, loads of toilet roll! I’ve stayed in other places before where these basics weren’t provided and it’s a real pain. So I felt it was a real bonus! I’d absolutely return to the cottage and look forward to it!

    Helen2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • If you are in the area and need a place to stay book Sheila’s. Meticulously cleaned and designed with a lot of thoughtful touches. We booked last minute and she had a fire waiting for us. Couldn’t recommended it enough.

    Andrew2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila was a wonderful host. She greeted us with a smile and a warm fire! The accommodations were comfortable. The stairs to the bedrooms were unique. The views were beautiful. They brought us more coffee and wood for the fire during our cold damp visit! 10 minute drive to the small town of Castletown-Bere with the wonderful Breen’s Lobster Bar. Unfortunately it was not lobster season! I had fresh Hake with a delicious beading. Also, watched a movie called Ondine which was filmed in Castletownbere.

    Ramona2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend 100% this place, everything was perfect, Sheila gave us a few places to visit around that definitely its worth it to visit

  • This cottage gave us such a beautiful view of the sea from the back door. I stayed here with a group of friends for a weekend retreat and it was just what we needed! The cottage was so cozy and warm, and we were given so many suggestions about where the best sites were nearby. We had a good mixture of staying in and enjoying the view, as well as driving along the coast and watching dolphins! I highly recommend this place!

    Kylie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning!! From booking with sinead, to the end, I cannot fault the hospitality. The house, the surrounding area and the sheer loveliness of pat and his family. We absolutely Loved it here. Got to spend time in a stunning location with fantastic neighbours (pat even helped me look for my naughty dog who decided to go wandering at stupid o clock!!) thus family are one of the nicest families I have ever met and thus made the stay so much more enjoyable! 20 out of 20 for everything. We will 100% be back.! This place is a gem! And so is pat!

    Aileen2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

While being in quite a remote place it’s only 15 mins from Castletown-bearhaven and perfectly situated for lots of sightseeing around the stunning peninsula. The house itself was clean and warm, with a well-equipped, spacious kitchen. We also slept like logs!

    Chris2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mgt is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I arrived late which didn't seem to bother her. Her home is close to everything in the village - restaurant, shop and local entertainment. The room was very clean and has a tea/coffee facility although she invited me to her kitchen for a light breakfast. The peninsula where she lives has spectacular scenery and is well worth a visit. All round my visit was a very positive experience.

  • Had a very comfortable and relaxed atay with Margaret. Margaret responded to any texts very quickly, which is reassuring for a solo traveller. My room was exceptionally comfortable and clean.

  • Lovely stay right off the walking trails I came to do. Margaret friendly and helpful, just like you look for in a host. Had an issue finding it as Airbnb had the wrong address and Google Maps was inventing street to get to the fake address. Margaret said she fixed that for future guests.

    Rande2019-08-06T00:00:00Z

  • Our stay was lovely! We loved the fireplace and beautiful view. Our hosts were so welcoming and inviting. I felt comfortable asking for whatever I needed. The instructions to find the cottage were confusing, but when we stopped to ask directions, we were delighted to receive a warm welcome to our arrival. Four nights was the perfect amount of time.

  • We had a lovely quiet, cosy stay in The Turf Cottage! V happy to recommend!

    Patsy2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfection. It's the only word we have to describe this lovely cottage. The cottage itself is lovingly restored by the owners and has every modernity you could ask for while remaining authentic and charming. It is blissfully peaceful and quiet (if you don't count the sound of mooing cows and the wind from the Atlantic). The surrounding area of the Ring of Beara is filled with exquisite beauty. It doesn't matter where you go; you will run into something beautiful. Even in winter, there are plenty of attractions, pubs, restaurants, and shops in the neighboring towns to draw upon. The traditional session at O'neals on Sunday nights in Alihies is not to be missed. Take the drive off the beaten path and discover this beautiful place. You will be warmly welcomed by the most incredible Airnbnb hosts and you will fall in love with The Turf Cottage.

    Bridget2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Turf cottage is absolutely amazing, warm, cozy, and we felt like we were at home. Fiona's parents are lovely as the cute Rosie (their dog), they suggested us a nice place to have a very delicious meal (we went there twice). Everything was perfect and clean, bed was really comfortable and the wood stove provided a nice atmosphere. The area is very quiet since it's the countryside and having a walk there is amazing. We really recommend theTurf cottage and we can't wait to be back.

The perfect location for extended hikes along the coast and up and down the beautiful rugged hills of Beara. Just great to get away from it all. The cottage is very spacious, cozy and clean and Maree is just a wonderful host. We stayed for two weeks with our baby daughter and felt right at home. We were very sad to leave!

  • Beautifully situated charming simple b&b in a remarkable garden. Very comfortable and cosy common room with a fab soapstone wood stove. Cooked breakfast freshly made to order. Shared bathrooms are sparking clean. Rita is very engaging and informative .And there's a great little library.

    Mary2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a proper time out at Rita’s place where you can wind down, relax and enjoy short hikes, long walks and drives through the country. Rita recommends her favourite places, knows her way around and is extremely helpful with all. The house is amazing and so is breakfast - you get to choose from a few different variations and it’s delicious. The place is spotless and we loved the fact that there are no shoes allowed. We’ll definitely be back!

    Lucie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place - beautiful bedrooms and a common room with a lovely view of the mountains. Location is a short walk from a very quiet cove a nature preserve along the coast. Great breakfasts provided and Rita was happy to help with arranging hikes/biking around the area. I personally didn’t partake but there’s a meditation center nearby that a lot of other guests were talking about that also sounded great. Only downside is that it’s a little out of the way using public transport, but feasible to do and well worth it! Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway!

    Maddy2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely space for women in a beautiful part of the countryside. Pleasant host and a wonderful breakfast.

  • Delicious breakfasts, a cozy room, excellent tips about what to do in the area tailored to each guest's needs and fitness level, excellent conversation, a beautiful clean environment...Bellatrix is a wonderful place to stay, and Rita and Lainey are excellent hosts!

  • You simply cannot fault this BnB at all. Set in the most beautiful surroundings, the bnb itself is warm and inviting, scents of essential oils in every room, tranquil, spotlessly clean, with whatever facilities you need. The hosts Rita and Lainey are warm, attentive and full of local knowledge, and provide a lovely home cooked breakfast with homemade breads and jams. I'd highly recommend a stay, the longer the better!

  • Outstanding views, great breakfast. I don’t have a lot too say other than I didn’t want to leave. I planned far too short a stay here and I recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet peaceful place to stay.

  • Lovely place and a clean&cosy accommodation. Therese was a great host, having a chat and answering my questions (and providing some ideas what to do and where to go). Check-in was very flexible as well. And the Irish breakfast was very delicious (uh and that fresh fruit salad was grande :D). All in all: I would definitely stay with her again.

    Sebastian2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! Stayed here for 2 nights. Also Eyeries is a great cozy place. I would sleep here again!

    Nadine2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is located in the center of the colorful city Eyeries. The view from the winter garden is magnificent. Everything is clean and the breakfast rich, on request on fully irish. I stayed here on my hike 1 night, everything was fine, the contact with Therese very warm and helpful. I would book again and recommend it!

    Claudia2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect stay and Therese was very helpful and kind. Our room had an amazing view of Eyeries and the bay...complete with sheep and lambs across the street. We stayed two nights and were sad to leave. Clean comfy rooms and hearty good breakfast...it doesn't get any better than that!

    Dawn2017-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing, Theresa is an amazing host. We only stayed for the one night but we're blown away with the hospitality and views from our room! Thank you so much for everything. The fry in the morning saved my life 😉

  • What a nice place to stay! And how friendly! Therese gave me a lift to the local ATM. Everything was very nice!! Thank you!

  • We had an excellent stay at the BnB run by Therese. Its is really well situated at the tip of the gorgeous town of Eyeries, two minute walk and you are in the town centre. You can get the entire view of Coulaghbay from the room or the lounge area. The facilities in the room are excellent and the breakfast is simply superb. It scores perfect on the Irish BnB experience.

  • This is a wonderful place! You have got the whole house and almost the whole island for youself! The fireplace is great after a long walk and there is a lot to read about the history of the island

  • Staying at Rosarie’s cottage on Dursey is a must-do! Great hospitality, spectacular views and tranquil setting allow for the most relaxing experience. Would 100% recommend and we will definitely be back! Thank you Rosarie!

    Laura2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Rosarie was so kind and even left us wine and fresh scones (and waited for us at cable car to give us a ride when we were late!) We really enjoyed exploring and hiking Dursey and reading her historical book about the island (amazing stories about the lighthouse off point). Cows, sheep and views of the sea right from the cottage which has everything you could need and very comfy beds. The two singles in second bedroom were ideal for our kids. Thank you! Hope to return someday.

    Mel2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rosarie’s cottage on Dursey Island is everything she says it is - comfortable and warm, with a breathtaking view of the sound and the Atlantic. Rosarie went out of her way to make us feel at home - she picked us up at the (amazing!) cable car, made sure there was plenty of wood for the fireplace, asked us to feel free to use condiments, spices, etc, and even left us a bottle of wine and some fresh homemade scones! The island is just breathtaking. We spent days trekking all over the bluffs and fields, constantly amazed by the combination of natural beauty and zero crowds, even on a July weekend. There were a few hours on Saturday afternoon that we didn’t see a single person while hiking. You could really imagine how it might have felt decades (or even further) back in history. It was a lovely start to our honeymoon - and our marriage. We will definitely try to make it back.

We have recently opened a beautiful new B&B on the rugged Beara Peninsula in West Cork. We have 3 en-suite rooms available, some are family rooms and can accommodate up to 4 people. We overlook the stunning Coulagh Bay near Eyeries on Beara Way.
You will be staying in very comfortable bedrooms with stunning sea/mountain views overlooking Coulagh Bay and Kerry mountains in the distance.
Cappa B&B is close to our self catering farmhouse which is available to rent throughout the year. Colourful Eyeries village is 1.2 miles away, Allihies is 9 miles and Castletownbere is 5 miles away. The Dursey cablecar is about 12 miles from Cappa House and on a very scenic route.
  • We had an amazing night in Cappa House B&B. The place is nicely located, giving a beautiful view to the sea. Fran was very welcoming, and made us feel at ease. The dinner and the breakfast were exceptional, made from local products and perfectly prepared. Overall we had wonderful time at Fran's place. We highly recommend it to whoever is traveling around Cork or to the ring of Kerry.

So much to see and do on the beautiful Beara Peninsula-but you will need a car ( or super duper bike) and some walking boots! The view from the dining room is just amazing. We must just remember to pre order the stunning sunset for next time. Thanks Fran for a great stay. Nuala &James

The lightkeepers cottage is semi detached holiday home situated meters from the cliffs of the Dursey Sound, a 5 minute walk away from Ireland's only cable car to Dursey Island. A 5 minute drive to Garnish Beach, 20 minutes from Castletownbere or 20 minutes from Allihies village. Downstairs-sunroom, living room/kitchen and a wc. Upstairs-double room, family room and shower room. Due to cliffside location we do not recommend this house for children. Well adjusted dogs are welcome.
Open plan, character filled house with stone walls, slate floors and open fireplaces. Our sunroom with panoramic views of the sea is the perfect spot for reflection and relaxation whilst the open plan kitchen / living area lends itself to entertaining. Down the side of the cliffs is our boat house and sea steps ideal for fishing.
The Dursey Sound is a peaceful area with magnificent vistas at every turn. Castletownbere is a mere 20 minute drive boasting excellent cafes, restaurants, shops and the countries largest fishing port.
  • You want to stay here just for the view already, as a bonus, the house and the hospitality are wonderful!

  • Julie was fantastic. The place was gorgeous, comfy and a few extras made the stay so special. Julie helped us out with finding places to visit with the dog, going out of her way! The views from the property are as fantastic as you can imagine and the cable car to Dursey Island only a short walk away. Only negative was the area (not the property itself!) not being very dog friendly in terms of walks and hikes. We'd love to come back, just maybe without the dog next time!

    Kati2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is a amazing host with the most amazing views. We had a fantastic time great views and great walks on your doorstop. Julie recommendations for walks & beaches etc were perfect. With very cute, friendly dogs, pony & donkey. At the end of the garden there is a boat house right on the sea...... House is large with everything you would need for your stay. Very comfortable beds that we found hard to get out of. We came back fully charged & rested with great memories. Already planning our next visit.

    Martina2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing surprise! This place is incredible. Amazing views, amazing host, amazing house! I could have stayed two months!!

  • Great location and Julie was on hand whenever we needed anything. what a spot. Sitting on the patio watching dolphins, seals and sea birds diving for fish. Amazing skies, great walks and fishing from the boat house as well :) House is great, everything you need for a relaxing stay away from the rest of the world. So quiet and relaxed the world could end and you'd be none the wiser. Type of place everyone should visit at some point in their lives. We even had great weather. If i could give 6 stars i would :)

    Allan2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The well designed spacious interieur, the surroundings like three beautiful terrasses, the spectacular view over the Dursey Sound and last but not least the overwelming hospitality of Julie deserve five stars!

    Hans-Jürgen2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The time at Lightkeeper's Cottage was vacation and pure relaxation. Julie is a very helpful and nice hostess. As a welcome gift eggs, milk, jam, butter, bread, sausage and ham were ready for us. She always helped with questions and had a lot of tips for the region as well as for our further journey. When we sat outside in the evenings, she just passed by for a short chat without being intrusive. The house itself is a special place and lovingly restored and expanded. Everything is there, what you need and also offers a phenomenal view of the sea. Overall we had four stations during our 16 days in Ireland. The highlight was definitely the time with Julie!

    Timo2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The view is wonderful. The house is wonderful. Julie is wonderful. :-) We had a great time at the house and can fully recommend it to other travelers. The location is a little out of the way (you drive more than an hour to leave the Beara Peninsula) but this is easily compensated by the breathtaking view from the house and especially from the boat house further down the property. Julie was truly a wonderful host and whenever we had any wishes, they were promtly fulfilled. My wife is a little afraid of dogs and Julie also took special care that her dogs were out of her way whenever my wife was outside. Oh, and did I mention the wonderful winter garden / sunroom, the donkey, and the pony? If you are looking for a relaxing vacation on the west coast of Ireland, you should seriously consider coming here! The only "downside": No wifi and even no cell phone connection (which we of course knew in advance). But for other people this may probably be a benefit. ;-)

Our house is a unique house overlooking Coulagh Bay, with stunning views to the sea. The garden is a lovely relaxing place as well as a great hide and seek venue, not on the road, but an easy 10 minute walk to the village, with a well stocked small supermarket, petrol, postoffice, bistro, tea room in season, 2 pubs. It is a cosy traditional house which is well equipped to accommodate families and young children. The beds are all very comfortable, some with views to the sea. Everyone loves it.
Shore cottage has been built around a stone built farmhouse from the 19C. The walls are two feet thick and the open joisted ceilings on the ground floor, and slanted ceiling on the first floor, create a very evocative space. The new parts of the building have been built to fill with light and give scope to the stunning scenery outside. With two double bedrooms upstairs and potentially two downstairs, shore cottage is very flexible. It is a comfortable space to share for families that like to holiday together or extended families. There are four downstairs living spaces, the dining room, the office, the cosy living room and the old studio. The old studio is a flexible space as it can be used as a second living room, a children’s playroom, a space for daily yoga exercise. It can also be used as a bedroom for large parties as it has both a double futon bed and a single foldable jaybed.
Shore Cottage is a ten minute walk from the Village of Eyeries. A beautiful Irish village with a lively community. The Eyeries family festival is a great annual event that happens in July. The village offers, shops, post office, pubs and cafés. The surrounding area is populated by traditional small mixed farms. In Spring time you will be treated to the sight of darling lambs and calves in the fields all around. Being so close to one of the main shipping fleets in the West Of Ireland, there is deliciously fresh fish to be enjoyed.
  • A beautiful arty home amidst some dramatic scenery. A real find!

  • We had a great stay in this house. It is very nice, with lots of games for kids and board games (interesting on rainy days). The sea is beautiful and there are many walks to do in the area. Thank you very much for this stay! We hope to come back someday.

  • A beautiful cottage in an idyllic location Shore Cottage has everything you could possibly need for the perfect holiday. The cottage is so beautiful and spacious and easily accommodated 2 families with 5 children. Cooking was a pleasure in the kitchen which had everything you could need to whip up some evening meals. There are beautiful walks nearby and Eyeries was walking distance where the great shop had everything that one could need. We were all sad to leave and plan to return again someday. Thanks for sharing your lovely home.

  • A lovely comfortable house in a superb location. It was extremely well equipped and suited our party of 7 adults perfectly. Wonderful to walk through the atmospheric garden straight onto the coast path. We were sad the weather wasn't good enough to swim much but we enjoyed walking to the village and used its amenities - pub, Bistrot, cafe, post office and supermarket. Communication with the owners was excellent and Anita was 'on the ground' to help with any queries. Perfect Airbnb experience!

  • If you're looking for an authentic stay on the Wild Atlantic coastline, look no further than Shore Cottage. Nestled on the sea coast in the village of Eyeries, it has everything you need for a self-catering holiday. Plus, the village is in walking distance for supplies, a play park, cafes/ pubs/ restaurants (highly recommend The Bistro) and the sea coast has nicely marked trails for walking or getting down to the ocean for a fresh dip in the sea. Bonnie and Rupert's place is a real family space with high chairs, toys and games, lots of places to curl up with a book and look out into the sea. We've visited twice and look forward to our next trip already.

  • We loved our stay here, gorgeous scenery and cozy accommodations. Sinead and her family were fantastic hosts, providing a warm welcome and suggestions on local places to visit. The cottage is part of a sheep farm and we had a great time playing with the dogs, and feeding and spending time with the animals. This is one very special place, one that we'll be going back to in the future.

  • When you stay at Marys you can expect fantastic scenery, peace, tranquility, and an area rich in its lore and local locations, as well as its people. The first person you will meet is Hannah, Marys mother in law. If you need anything Hannah will be your go to person. We will certainly return in the future. A most enjoyable month. • Wow what can I say..... that view and sunset. I've been fortunate to travel a lot in recent years, but I can honestly say the sunset from Riverfield House makes it to my Top 2 – just spectacular! The cottage is really fabulous, with some cute quirks and has all the amenities one could ask for. I spent 3 days here with my husband, the cottage is cosy for a couple but also spacious enough for a group. We had a lovely relaxing time in the peaceful cottage. Also, lots of outdoor space for children to play, BBQ area and hiking trails nearby. On arrival, the wonderful Hannah greeted us with a fresh batch of scones from her kitchen, some of which were infused with wild blackberries she picked from her field – amazing! The cottage location is great, mid way between the villages of Eyeries & Ardgroom, overlooking the unspoilt Colough Bay. Eyeries is painted in a rainbow of beautiful colours, with fuschia and montbretia plants strewn wildly on the roadsides. Nearby, Castletownbere is a working port town, Allihilles with its beautiful sandy beach and the Doireann gardens are well worth a visit. I recommend McCarthys bar, an old Irish bar and grocery shop, in Castletownbere. Helens bar in Kilmaclogue is great for fresh mussels and a Guinness. Birds singing, cows munching grass 10m from the house, stunning views, lovely people and a warm & cosy cottage - Hard to ask for any more. I'll be back for sure.
