House vacation rentals in Puntarenas

Overall great stay and comfortable for our group. However some cautionary items to be aware of. The driveway to reach to the top of the property is quite steep, and in the rain the car skidded and wouldn’t get to the top of the hill. Need to have a vehicle if you’re going in and out with luggage. Good bit of wildlife you will encounter in the rooms and bathroom. There is only a hot water heater in the main bathroom.

This was the absolute perfect home base to explore this part of Costa Rica. The house was stunning, exactly like photos and descriptions. Pool area was an unbeatable oasis and we did get lots of monkey visits! Comfortable beds, amazing bathrooms with great water temp and pressure, stocked kitchen and awesome patio space for meals and hangouts. Corner store literally at the end of our driveway was so convenient. Laura the concierge was amazing, so responsive, helpful friendly! I couldn’t be happier with the experience and will be recommending Matthew’s place to anyone I know visiting the area. I would absolutely stay here again and hope I’m able to return soon!

Great location, a short walk from the beach. Spacious bedrooms and living area. Maud is a very considerate and accommodating host.

Casa Baru is a beautiful home and a perfect location for accessing the beach and many great restaurants. When we walked in the door my kids said, “This looks like a celebrity’s house!”. The outdoor space is beautiful and serene and indoors is spacious and comfortable. Juan was super responsive to any questions we had and he had great local recommendations for restaurants. I highly recommend this beautiful home and Juan as a host!

Absolutely perfect for our girls’ trip! Villa Koa was everything we hoped for and more. The house is spacious, beautifully laid out, and the beds were super comfy. The backyard and views were absolutely stunning—perfect for relaxing and catching up. Just a heads-up: the villa is nestled in the mountains/jungle, so bugs are part of the experience—but nothing unexpected for the setting and totally manageable. You’ll definitely need a 4x4 with high clearance (we had a Suzuki Jimny and it handled the road great). The house is not walkable to town or restaurants, so having a car is a must. Special shoutout to Sophie, the concierge—she was amazing! She gave us fantastic local recommendations and helped plan some great outings. We had a brief issue with the hot water, but concierge responded immediately and maintenance got it sorted right away. Already planning our return next year—can’t wait!

Pictures do not do justice to the view from this property ! Host was amazing , recommend renting ATVs , host arranged for them to be delivered for us, we loved riding them into town , to the beaches and visited Montezuma and the tide pools. We look forward to renting this property again on our next visit to the area !

An exceptional experience! A stunning villa with outstanding architectural design – every detail has been carefully thought out. The combination of total peace, ocean views, and lush jungle surroundings creates a private paradise. The villa is fully equipped, spacious, and beautifully designed – from the kitchen to the outdoor lounge areas, everything is perfect. The service was incredible – warm, responsive, and professional. The housekeeper was absolutely amazing – thorough, kind, and attentive. Highly recommended! We will definitely be back.

Our stay here was amazing! Chris and Hollie were extremely responsive throughout our entire stay and provided great recommendations for local restaurants, activities, etc. We highly recommend a 4x4 if available for the drive and enjoyed the scenic views along the trip up the mountain. The house is perfectly designed with modern features and everything you need to ensure you feel right at home. The back porch was incredible for morning coffee and enjoying the views of the beach and jungle, while listening and seeing the wildlife surrounding us. We were extremely comfortable during our stay and enjoyed opening up the doors at night to let the cool ocean breeze pass through. What makes this place extra special is Chris and Hollie. We enjoyed getting to know more about them, the property, their vision for future projects, and you can see their genuine joy for hosting guests. They were readily available when asking questions and made sure we were comfortable. Thank you for a great trip!

It's a place to enjoy

Lovely place. As someone who used to live in Atenas I can’t imagine a better place to stay and experience it. Beautiful views, great pool and porch, big bedroom, hot water, and everything is spotless. Edward is a good guy and leaves you a paper with everything you need - contacts for taxis, restaurant recommendations, etc. He knows the area well anything you need just text him. I can’t wait to come back. Thanks Edward!

Our family stayed for ten nights as a home base to explore the Pacific side of Costa Rica. The pool was fantastic! I especially enjoyed the bottom pool that doubles as hot tub (when my kids weren't in the upper half splashing the cold water into it). The pool is very large with lots of space for splashing, and there is so much wildlife and bird-watching off of the amazing porch and decks. We were mesmerized by the scarlet macaws that flew by and sometimes roosted nearby. Being in the mountains, you are literally in the clouds. It was other-worldly when they rolled in most afternoons. So cool! Indoors: we utilized the kitchen quite frequently, making dinner every night. Kitchen was well stocked with supplies for cooking. The living area was very comfortable and great for watching TV together in the evening. Bathrooms and bedrooms were well-appointed with what we needed, and the washer/dryer was great to have, as we are light packers and did get muddy some days. Overall a wonderful stay!

The villa is gorgeous! We really loved it, the design is very unique with stunning view! The location is very comfortable, few minutes ride from the tide pools, and the other beaches of Mal Pais. Away from the mess of Santa Teresa, but yet close enough to visit for restaurents, beaches, and morning bakery. Judita was very nice and responsive, helped us with everything we needed. The house is really immersed in nature, as you live on a tree together with the wild life. Very unique place!

It is a great place close to all the entertainment in Jaco, yet in a private, secure, and quiet (at night) location! Very clean, cozy, and well-constructed home! The pool was clean, but we didn’t utilize it due to being busy with all the local attractions. I will say that there's some construction going on next door, but it doesn’t start until around 8 AM (I think), so if you are someone who wants/needs to sleep in, you may have issues. For us early risers, no problem at all! Great overall stay!

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever experienced. It is very private and peaceful with breathtaking views and the gentle sound of waves from the beach below. The house is quite spacious, attractive, and clean and we really appreciated the pool in the evenings after spending the days at the beach. Also loved the rooftop deck on clear nights for stargazing. The gardens around the house are magnificent. Santos, who planted everything at the house, gave us a tour of the various flowers, palms, and fruit trees including mangos and carambola, two favorites of my kids. He also guided us down the private path to the waterfall which was wonderful. Mireille is an amazing host and checked in with us regularly. Casa Marimango was everything I was hoping for and Montezuma was the perfect location. We hiked to nearby Playa Grande from the town and there were literally five other people at this amazing beach. Will definitely return to Montezuma and stay here again!

Awesome beach house. House was clean and very spacious. It is Inside a safe community with security and there is a local restaurant about a 10 minute walk away which you can order local food from which was delicious. Host was very helpful with any concerns and had great recommendations.

Our family really enjoyed this home - especially seeing the monkeys, having great swings for our daughter to play on, and an amazing rooftop view!! When the pool pump was not working properly, Rafal was there very quickly to fix the timer and was very personable. When in this area, we would definitely stay here again.

This is such a beautiful, comfortable, and clean home with wonderful views. We spent 6 nights exploring Atenas, and this home is convenient to town and several other attractions. The hostess has a book for guests with great suggestions for what to do and see while in Atenas.

This Airbnb is absolutely magical. The views are stunning and Victoria is such a gracious host. She and her husband went out of their way to make me feel at home and make sure I was getting full use of the amenities. Everything was so comfortable and thoughtful. And their property has some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen! Couldn’t recommend more!

This place was amazing! Really enjoyed the upstairs bedroom and plunge pool. Very local and close to everything in Jaco so we could walk everywhere. Could not figure out how to get the little stove top to work but that was very minor. Everything else was great.

From the first time meeting Mira & Michaela (the owners) we could feel how much they truly care about their guests and their surroundings. A beautiful touch was having the lovely staff deliver breakfast to us that is made by the owners. Each morning we got to sample something different and all of it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented; this was. a real treat for us and so helpful especially for a shorter stay. We loved waking us to the sounds of the jungle. The grounds were being shaped and groomed while we were there and visually this place is very special. Thank you both for your wonderful hospitality and genuine care.

One of the nicest homes we have stayed in in Costa Rica! The view was great, 😊 and the landlady with her sweet dogs was always on site and very sweet! A good car is necessary for the journey.
