This project was born from an old primary school that was restored to bring more life to the village. We are in the centre of Portugal, in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by pure nature. Ideal for long stays, come and enjoy this space surrounded by forest.

At the vegetable garden, enjoy a strawberry, feel the aromas, on the balcony with wide views, rest your eyes and relax. This is the ideal space to spend a few days with friends or gather the family in a rural and welcoming environment. An invigorating dip in the pool or watching the birds fuss in the backyard. Recovering a stone house, keeping the ancestral and typical details was a challenge, but one that we gladly accepted, guided by the desire to preserve history and memory. Be welcome.

Casas da Avó - Casas de Pedra

Casa localizada numa pequena aldeia do concelho de Proença-a-Nova, distrito de Castelo Branco. Dois quartos com cama de casal e um quarto com cama individual, 2 Wc, sala, cozinha, jardim com churrasqueira. Duas bicicletas e road book onde estão assinalados os locais de interesse da região. A Casa da Avó tem para lhe oferecer uma enorme variedade de novas sensações. A sua localização numa pequena aldeia do Portugal rural permitir-lhe-á desfrutar de todos os prazeres aliados à vida no campo.

A Casa Iris, situa-se no coraçao da linda Aldeia de Xisto dos Cunqueiros. O maior aglomerado de Xisto de Proença-a-Nova. Pertence à Beira Baixa de Portugal, distrito de Castelo Branco. Uma Aldeia única, onde se destaca a união dos habitantes e as famosas reuniões nas adegas ao fim-de-semana. A nossa Casa é o espaço perfeito para praticar Slow Living. Situated in the hills, on the outskirts of a little village, you'll find Casa Hortênsia which is preferable for plant-based guests. With a beautiful view over the mountains, it is the ideal location to enjoy the many river beaches, hiking, cycling and other activities which can be arranged. Your host is a vegan pastry and professional chef and loves to spoil you if you wish to have meals prepared.

House of Schist in the center of Portugal

Three schist houses being restored at the village of Cunqueiros, in the municipality of Proença-a-Nova, form the Casas da Encosta project. Here it’s possible to relive the life history and culture of the region’s people in the comfort of a typical Portuguese village. According to the owner, Nuno Caldeira, the houses are being restored following the local construction tradition where schist, clay and wood are featured. One of them, Casa da Lagariça, has already opened.
