This is a renovated Kyomachi house near Gojo-zaka. A 100-year-old Kyomachi house has been transformed into a guest house where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the good old days. It is a luxurious natural material renovation that uses diatomaceous earth with deodorizing and humidity regulating effects, and unpolluted materials such as hinoki cypress and cedar, with attention to detail in the finish. The whole ceiling is covered with cypress, and the pillars, frames, and baseboards are also made of cypress, creating a space filled with the comfort of real natural materials and the scent of cypress. It is located in the Kiyomizu-dera Temple area, about 6 minutes on foot from Exit 4 of Kiyomizu-Gojō Station on the Keihan Line, near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, one of Kyoto's most famous tourist destinations. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo
