The Maynard Log Cabin was erected by a homesteader after the civil war. We have moved and restored it and made it available for rent. It is off the grid, but it has a complete functioning kitchen, wood stove and sitting room downstairs. There are two antique beds with new mattresses upstairs. There is no electricity but the cabin is furnished with kerosene lanterns. The bathroom facilities consist of wash basins and outhouse. The cabin is surrounded by 40 acres of woods and meadows.
“This place is better in person. The stars are epic, the wind chimes on the porch soothe you, even the rain on the tin roof was lovely. There are cows and roosters next door that wake you, but it all added to the fantastic vibe, and I adore this place so much I already booked it again. The check-in was great. I was traveling from the cities after work, and John arranged Samantha to check us in late. The house was warm and the lanterns were lit. It was perfect and thoughtful! My son fell asleep peacefully, even with the gentle thunder. The beds were ok, and keeping the windows cracked open lets in the breeze and the sounds outside. It’s quite lovely. The mosquitos didn’t bother us at all! I did see a bat house and plenty of dragon flies, so perhaps they are doing their jobs. Other wildlife we saw: quail, pheasant, turkeys, some other bird with a red head (it’s in the book in the cabin). We played in the creek, and my son finally forgot about his video games and we were able to spend some quality time together, reconnecting and making memories. The fall foliage was just peeking through the green. We stopped at every recommendation in the book to buy things from the Amish. We didn’t see people at a couple so we hurried off, but we did pick up a lot of homemade jams and jellies, canned pickles, fresh eggs, carrots, cucumbers, and a watermelon. Everyone in town is friendly too. I adore this place. Definitely bring your cooler of ice, possibly your own bed linens if you like them freshly laundered like I do, and you will be set. Thanks for such a great stay in such a lovely place.”
This 2 bedroom cottage has been completely remodeled in 2017 to create a serene & peaceful place to getaway. Just a few feet from the waters edge as the door & living spaces face the lake. Make memories here, whether it's yard games, bonfires, coffee on our comfy outdoor seating, swimming, or fishing, this is the place to take it all in. Bring your boat to enjoy the lake and tie up to our dock or feel free to use our 2 kayaks. If golfing is your thing we are directly across from the clubhouse!
“This AirBNB is lovely! It has the benefits of being on the water, having a fantastic host (who happens to be an expert on the area), and everything you need to go out or stay in. We explored Sauk Centre (Palmer House and both thrift stores are great), traveled to Brooten for the Redhead Creamery (yeah- this is a MUST), then on to New London for Model Citizen and Goats Ridge brewing, through Osakis to Alexandria (DJ's Tap House is great, so is Carlos Creek Winery and the adjacent brewery. Stacie and her husband were so helpful and accommodating every step of the way.”
Cozy is what you feel in our private apartment close to parks and downtown. This main level apartment is quiet and close to everything in Alexandria. We invite couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (w/ kids), and even families with furry friends (pets). The space is open concept - so there is lots of ability to spread out. Also, the large living room window and bedroom windows are a great source of natural light. All windows look out on old growth trees creating a sanctuary.
“We had a great stay at Debra’s place! The space was perfect for what we needed, and the pictures & description were spot on. The entire place was super clean and so cute! It was fully stocked with all the essentials plus some extras like snacks and drinks, which was great. We also loved that there was really fast WiFi. Debra was very accommodating and quick to respond. We would recommend her place to anyone staying in Alexandria!”
