Local accommodation "Casa da Avó" is a typical Beira house that has been completely remodeled. It is located in a small mountain village, Cava, municipality of Oleiros, surrounded by green fields where you can enjoy the harmony of the rural landscape, in the presence of a local community dedicated to agriculture. Stroll through the immense green-painted fields on terraces, with their characteristic schist walls, enjoy and listen to the sound of the stream with its natural waterfalls and mills.

Three schist houses being restored at the village of Cunqueiros, in the municipality of Proença-a-Nova, form the Casas da Encosta project. Here it’s possible to relive the life history and culture of the region’s people in the comfort of a typical Portuguese village. According to the owner, Nuno Caldeira, the houses are being restored following the local construction tradition where schist, clay and wood are featured. One of them, Casa da Lagariça, has already opened.
