Walk to Beach from Spacious 1920 Home

OliviaRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
We had a girls weekend in Maine, where 10 of us stayed at Krystal's home in Old Orchard Beach. It was the perfect location, close to Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Kennebunkport, and the beach itself in OOB. The home was minutes walking to the town and beach which was perfect! The 3 floors were spacious and every room in the home had its own charm making it the perfect gateway! We even changed some of our plans to stay in more and enjoy the beautiful home! There were plenty of beds and bathrooms for us 10, and have two separate fully stocked kitchens was also a huge bonus! We particularly loved the large dining table space and ate all our meals in there together. While the home made our trip, thee hospitality and responsiveness of Krystal helped make the travels that much easier and seamless. They were very communicative of arrival plans and departures and went above and beyond by stocking the fridge with beverages, sharing helpful recommendations and tips, and a lovely note!

This was our second year staying at Don’s and it was great as always! Beautiful space, clean, updated, and well stocked kitchen/linens. Location to the beach can’t be beat and all the beach things you’d need are available for use. Don and Sue are both wonderful and we look forward to future stays.

Spacious and bright Old Orchard beach house!

SusanRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Gretchen's home felt like a beach oasis - bright, clean, it smelled fresh, welcoming, and a perfect getaway. We stayed to see an ill family member, but the home was a sanctuary during a very tough trip. The beach and pier was a nice walk and the view of the ocean was calming. Gretchen provides a turnkey beach escape with towels, sunscreen, and chairs. She even treats you to a fully stocked coffee bar (heaven!) and in our case, all the fixings for s'mores. She was extremely responsive to our questions. We would love to stay again. Thank you so much, Gretchen!!

Alex was a great host! Very responsive and helpful! My family and I were traveling about 3 hours away, Alex went out of her way to let us know we were able to come up an hour earlier to settle. It made such a difference. So cozy and comfortable! It was very neat and orderly. Close to so many fun things to do and a good location!

Very nice place to stay! Modern, clean and loved that it’s pet friendly! A little pricy during off season for this area because most places are closed. Our favorite room was the movie theater room fun place to hang out in the evenings.

Rustic Retreat studio, steps to the Beach. Unit #3

KayleenRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Deborah was very helpful and quick to respond. She had great suggestions on where and what to visit. The travel magazines she had on her TV stand were extremely helpful. The bed was very soft, which I love, so I slept really well. We loved the touch of having beach chairs available. The only downsides I can think of, are that the shower is very small, and it’s hard to back out of the parking space.

A great place to stay on your Portland/OOB vacay! It was perfect for the 5 of us on our annual girls trip. The house was in a great location- close enough to walk around Old Orchard Beach and nice and central for exploring neighboring towns. We appreciated the abundance of towels available, private parking, spotless cleanliness and thoughtful touches like sound machines, family-friendly amenities and a good amount of toilet paper for the weekend. Jen was so quick and easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend!

Old Orchard Beach downtown, free parking and WiFi

SierraRating, 5 stars9 months ago
Got lucky finding this place last minute for Labor Day weekend! The apartment was even better than the photos, super clean, comfy and had all the basic amenities needed. Location was prime and such a fast walk to town the the beach! The trolley pick up is right in front of the apartment too. Cute view of the amusement park and ocean! Mary was flexible on us parking early before check in and also got us in early. We didn’t mind at all but as noted, the train does go by here and a lot of people are always outside this area but with the AC/fan it blocked most noise.

We enjoyed our stay! The place was very clean. The hosts were responsive and helpful. The train does go right behind the place at an intersection. The horn is very loud, which was hard for our toddler. Just something to consider if you’re traveling with infants/toddlers. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Stunning Ocean Views~Steps to Beach~Prime Location

EmilyRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
We stayed the first week of May and, even though it rained the whole time, we still had a fantastic experience at Grandy’s place in Old Orchard Beach! The home was beautifully decorated, spotless, and incredibly well-stocked—even thoughtful touches like white noise fans, which we usually gave to buy ourselves were in every room. The kitchen had everything: spices, decaf tea, coffee, multiple lobster pots, air fryer, toaster, teapot, and every cooking tool imaginable. Just a few houses from the beach, with ocean views plenty visible—it was the perfect location. We loved the fireplaces on both floors, and the luxurious soaking tub felt like a private spa. Extras like a second fridge, washer/dryer, tons of towels, first aid supplies (even Neosporin!), beach chairs, games, tons of hangers, iron, extra pillows, and blankets made the stay effortless. The host even looked up the mattress type when we asked! Truly one of our best Airbnb stays—we’re already looking forward to returning.

My stay was very nice and relaxing at Katie’s Airbnb! She was very easy to communicate with. I had a little difficulty with checkout and returning the keys but Katie messaged me back quickly to resolve the issue. Her home was very cozy and right next to the beach. I went with three other girlfriends as a little get an away. The pull out coach/ bed was pretty small so maybe keep that in mind. Lovely stay! Thank you!

Your guide to Old Orchard Beach

All About Old Orchard Beach

Located in scenic southern Maine, Old Orchard Beach boasts sought-after sunsets, 18th-century lighthouses, and an old-timey carnival vibe that’s made it a popular vacation spot since the late-1800s. With seven miles of grass-fringed shoreline at your disposal, this is the place to put your sandcastle-building skills to the test, take a dip in the gentle surf, or spend an afternoon getting dizzy at Palace Playground, a thrilling amusement park with traditional New England charm.

Not far from the roller-coaster roars and smell of fried dough you’ll discover pockets of pristine nature that invite a different kind of exploration. The nearby Saco River, with its salt marshes and birder-friendly hiking trails, is ideal for a quiet day of kayaking or canoeing, especially in autumn when the birch and maple trees show off their brilliant fall colors. But by dusk, everyone finds their way back to the Old Orchard Beach Boardwalk or the old wooden pier, which juts 500 feet into the Atlantic, for lobster rolls, live music, and the perfect summer sunset.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Old Orchard Beach

The balmy summer months bring local families and annual visitors from neighboring states to Old Orchard Beach to enjoy the laid-back beach lifestyle and rolling waves. If you prefer having the shoreline to yourself, consider visiting in September through May. This is a great time to enjoy the serene beauty of the area. As in other parts of New England, the autumn months bring colorful foliage, with peak conditions in mid-to-late October. Winter is ideal for snowbirds looking to bundle up with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the refreshing sea air. While many of the town’s attractions are closed during winter, the cold weather brings magnificent snow-covered terrain. Maine is home to more than 60 lighthouses, spread out along the entire coast. With some dating as far back as 1791, there's no shortage of history to be explored. Portland Headlight and Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse are within a short driving distance of Old Orchard Beach, offering a captivating look back at the state’s storied past.

Casco Bay Islands

Hop on one of the ferries in Portland, Maine, just 20 minutes away from Old Orchard Beach, and take to the waves for the day.
