This impressive building was a former music school, which has been renovated and turned into stunning private duplex apartments. This ensemble is more than a century old and has some very typical Belgian features with terraces, gardens, red bricks and metal beams. This beautiful home is very quiet and has a lot of lights flowing in. It comes with a large open kitchen fully equipped, bed linen and towels are provided as well. Digital TV and Wifi are available. Bedroom with king size box-spring. The bookshelves offer a nice choice of travel guides in English and Philosophy readings in Dutch! From there, you can walk to the main square where the weekly (Saturday before 13h00) fresh market is located with a wonderful choice of vegetables, fruits, flowers and other local products. The main train station is also accessible, Brussels and Antwerp are only 20 mn away with direct lines. A place for bikes is available, a local supermarket is also nearby as well as relaxing cafes and restaurants. Finally, the National Airport of Zaventem can be reached in 15 mn by taxi when there is no traffic.

This is a beautifully renovated studio on the first floor. The space is nicely decorated. The studio consists of an open kitchen, double bunk bed, salon, terrace and separate bathroom with rain shower. Ideal for 2 to 4 people. The seat can be transformed into a sofa bed. Separate entrance with numerical code. The terrace offers a nice view of the garden of the owners who live next door to the house. Downstairs is inhabited. €5/room/night tourist tax Mechelen not included.

I stayed at Griet's for a week while visiting Mechelen for a conference. The attic room is peaceful, comfortable, and like a little cottage atop of her house - private yet still connected through shared hallways, bathroom, and a gorgeous backyard. Griet was communicative and flexible with check in, supplied me with eggs from her chickens, and a powerful fan when the weather got very hot for a few days. She took time to talk with me about Mechelen and Belgium, and social issues in the world. Much of the time I was in and out of my room without much interaction, but openness to conversation and exchange really brightened my days. This was hands down one of my favorite experiences facilitated through AirBnB.

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy room very much. The decor was cozy and done with an eye for detail, which immediately gave a warm and homely feeling. Everything you need was present which made the stay very comfortable. Communication with the host went smoothly and quickly, which we really appreciated. The price-quality ratio was also quite good. In short: recommended for those looking for a cozy and complete stay!

Very pleasant room with nice bed. Coffee and tea in the room and a spacious bathroom next door on the same floor. It is also nice that the windows can be darkened. Although on the ring road around the old town and yet slept quietly. Location is great, in 10 minutes you are walking in the heart of the city center. Parking is possible nearby or in a garage. Mechelen is a very pleasant city to stay in. Communication with Jolien is fast and enjoyable, entrance was with lockbox. Rated high for value.

Renata is super friendly and proactively helps think of solutions (my bike). The apartment is super tidy and she emphasized several times that I could do as at home. This is highly recommended if you are looking for a room in the center of Mechelen.
