Chalet Salamandre

Enjoy the peace, the view and the comfort of this stylish chalet. Very suitable as a romantic getaway or relaxing in nature with your family. We are at 650 meters altitude, in a hot summer it is always a little cooler than in the valley and with a breeze, very pleasant. At night, the lake cools down and it's a good night's sleep. We don't need air conditioning. Dogs are welcome, €15 per stay. For the winter months there is a wood stove. The firewood is not included in the rental.

Fauna is omnipresent and easy to observe and many hiking and mountain biking trails start directly from the house. We really enjoyed our stay with Erick and Isabelle - they are wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome, including organising a tasting of local Corbières wines, and a separate vinegar tasting. The house is beautiful, and very well equipped - for dinner, we could take our pick between bbqing outside on the terrace or cooking in the kitchen. For swimming, we were spoilt for choice, able to swim in the pool as well as in the river below the house. The countryside around the house is great for walks (and the nearby village is easily walkable), but it is quite remote, so a car is needed to get around, and to visit almost any of the nearby sights beyond the village. It was an amazing holiday, and having this great place to stay was a really important part of it!

Brigitte and Lionel are very thoughtful hosts because of whom we had a great time. Already looking forward to coming back for a refreshing break in the countryside at the edge of the Cathar trail.. Super sejour chez Rolande. She met us at the entrance and walked us through the Airbnb and showed us trails and the bridge. She was very helpful in trying to get my husband his fishing permit! GORGEOUS river and nature walks outside the door. Super host and Airbnb had everything we needed to make our meals. We would love to return some day!

Nicole and her husband were perfect hosts. The house was cozy and our kids loved the chickens and cows. We took the car and went to Lake Belcaire, to Fontestorbes, to Mirepoix, a charming medieval village. On the last day we did the path of the green maze that looked like it was taken from the Lord of the Rings.
