Mountain Hikers Luxury Retreat in Roquefixade

AlastairRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Roquefixade is a very picturesque village and the accomodation is excellent, with a spectacular outlook. There are lovely walks in the area. We especially enjoyed the chateau circuit and another loop walk to Les Demoiselles. Tom was a very friendly and helpful host.
A white sheep stands on a green hillside, surrounded by scattered rocks and boulders. Its distinctive bell hangs around its neck, and a rugged mountainous landscape is visible in the background under a clear blue sky.

We thank Xavier for his lovely little cottage... Thanks to his kindness and his answers and responsiveness I was able to propose the 💒 way I wanted in this lovely place. It was impeccable with everything you need for a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. Lots of nature activities all around and a dream location for hiking lovers!

Gîte-Deluxe-Countryside view-Ensuite

AndrewRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We really enjoyed our stay with Erick and Isabelle - they are wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome, including organising a tasting of local Corbières wines, and a separate vinegar tasting. The house is beautiful, and very well equipped - for dinner, we could take our pick between bbqing outside on the terrace or cooking in the kitchen. For swimming, we were spoilt for choice, able to swim in the pool as well as in the river below the house. The countryside around the house is great for walks (and the nearby village is easily walkable), but it is quite remote, so a car is needed to get around, and to visit almost any of the nearby sights beyond the village. It was an amazing holiday, and having this great place to stay was a really important part of it!
A wooden table is set outdoors with a bowl of fresh fruit salad and bread topped with spread. A mug rests beside the bowl. Lush green hills and mountains are visible in the background under a clear blue sky, creating a serene dining atmosphere.

Chez Léontine, an exceptional place to discover

AdriánRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Nicole and her husband were perfect hosts. The house was cozy and our kids loved the chickens and cows. We took the car and went to Lake Belcaire, to Fontestorbes, to Mirepoix, a charming medieval village. On the last day we did the path of the green maze that looked like it was taken from the Lord of the Rings.
A rustic stone facade features various wooden shutters and doors, capturing the character of the building. A window with small panes is visible, while a prominent entrance is framed by a wooden double door. Textured stonework adds to the quaint appeal of the structure.

Very small studio but very well located and also well-equipped. On the other hand, it's mandatory to bring the sheets and duvet :)

Spacious easy access ground floor flat in Axat

GeoffreyRating, 5 stars8 months ago
An excellent apartment on the ground floor of an old house in Axat. The kitchen was very well equipped. The apartment is spacious with an outside patio (but beware the mozzies). Axat is located between 2 breath-taking gorges on the Aude river. However, it turned out to be a good centre for seeing the fortified chateaus (all around), the mountains and high valleys to the south, and attractive villages all around. One warning: everything is closed on Sunday evening so you need to stock up. Failing that, try the Proxi store in Caudies.
A spacious kitchen and dining area feature grey cabinetry paired with patterned tile accents. A large table with wooden chairs is positioned centrally, while a cozy armchair is situated nearby. Natural light enters through a glass door, enhancing the inviting ambiance of the room.

"La Petite Bicoque" at the bottom of the garden

MikeRating, 5 stars1 month ago
A great place to stay. The gite is perfect for 2 couples with a double, en suite, bedroom on each floor and plenty of space. It's attractively decorated and extremely well equipped for self-catering. The private garden was much appreciated and there was plenty of parking just across the road. La Petite Bicoque is brilliantly located, only a few minutes walk to Quillan's bars and restaurants. Orly was a very responsive host and Judith gave us a very friendly welcome. Thank you both!
