Set in a peaceful garden with a pond, this cob house would suit travelers interested in natural Earth building.Built originally to house a stone mill, the cob house still mills fresh flour when unoccupied. Perfect for a couple and a roll out mattress can be provided for a child or third person.This abode is for the adventurous with it's composting toilet and small solar geyser. There is a pizza oven you can use with fresh flour when the miller is home. 'Artists cottage' is on the same property.

Franshoek Farm - The Stables Cottage

The Stables, is a charming self-catering cottage situated on Franshoek Farm, in the Witterberg Mountains, near Ficksburg, in the Free State. The cottage is located on the sandstone bluff, over-looking the polo field with a magnificent view of the Valley. As farm stay guests, you enjoy a fully equipped self-catering kitchen which enjoins a central living space with a fireplace and concertina doors which open to the magnificent view. There is a braai and central firepit with wood provided.

Quiet area, close to town. The cottage offers a warm, family atmosphere with handy accessories. In the summer guests can enjoy the outdoors via the back garden, that provides absolute privacy. In the winter months the fireplace in the living room offers cosy, warm days and evenings. The bathroom is fitted with a heater for those cold winter mornings. Other spaces are heated by means of mobile heaters.
