We border the Pine River in Richland County, center of the beautiful Driftless region of southwest Wisconsin. Perfect for a quiet, nature-based retreat, we are less than four hours drive from Chicago, Milwaukee, and the Twin Cities. This Earthen house is made of sand, straw and clay. Nestled in a valley it is a peaceful and unique getaway. The cabin has four comfortable single beds and electricity, a wood stove for winter. Outside a fire pit and grill. A hand washing sink inside; and port-o-let toilet outside. You may be able to drive in (weather/road condition depending). This is my third time at the tiny home cabins but my first time at the opal lodge and it was, as always, extremely beautiful and peaceful! We will be planning in making this a reoccurring trip as we absolutely can’t get enough of it. They have a map for all the trails and a beautiful pond to relax by. They have everything you need for a successful fire! Absolutely love this place!

Country Sportsmans Paradise! Near Devils Lake!

Apple Maps couldn’t find the address that was provided and took us to the wrong location. After googling the address we did arrive and notice that at the property there is an “S” in front of the numbers and that was not provided to us. It was also stated that there was AC but it was a portable ac unit that we would have had to set up if we wanted to use it and only knew about that after messaging the host. The service was pretty spotty and couldn’t get any tv signal. Thankfully there were a few DVDs provided for us to watch. However, the host was extremely responsive and kind, the home was beautiful and clean and comfy we left a day early only due to the rain that wouldn’t stop. We would stay again if we are out in the area but would be more prepared and bring games and movies!

What an amazing stay at Twin Pines! As Wyoming natives now living in the Chicagoland area, we’ve seen a lot—but nothing could’ve prepared us for Shelia’s next-level hospitality. The farmhouse was cozy, full of charm, and stocked with every comfort (and craving!) you could possibly imagine. If it could be eaten, sipped, or savored, Shelia had it covered! THANK YOU!! We spent our days exploring parks, fishing like pros (or trying to), and cruising scenic drives while asking ourselves, Are we really still in Wisconsin? Thank you, Shelia, for making us feel so welcome and for thinking of everything before we even knew we needed it. We'll be talking about this stay for a long time, and yes, we’re already planning our return! 🫶🏻🥰

There were four of us and we were all so happy with our stay! We never even turned on the TV (though it was nice size) …we spent evenings on the patio relishing the nature and all the birdsong... made lots of great memories talking about our days and resting our weary bones from all the walking! Super comfortable and welcoming … lots of personal touches and had everything we needed to cook and eat in comfortably. we had two folks in each unit, but could easily have had 4–5 in each. Place is close to Spring Green for attractions Taliesin and HOTR) and got to enjoy the scenic short ride there. we felt right at home..,great amenities, large bathroom, bed was amazingly comfortable. Everything was super clean and we can’t say enough about how kind and responsive the hosts are. Thank you, Bill and Darcy for letting us enjoy this slice of heaven! We will definitely be back!
