You decide to walk or bike from your house to watch the sunrise light up Otter Cliffs and Monument Cove. You have the place mainly to yourself, and the seagulls. You walk a little further to see what action might be happening at Thunderhole. From there you see that Sand Beach isn't much further, and you realize that you chose a home base as close to the Park as it gets. A rare location, indeed.

Start your day on the screened porch and unwind by the fire pit, grill, or outdoor bar. The private second-floor primary suite features an en-suite bath, seating area, and office nook. A queen bedroom and full bath with walk-in shower are on the first floor. Near hiking trails, carriage roads, restaurants, and Mount Desert Island’s rugged coastline.

Located in the sweet little village of Otter Creek, you can walk to Otter Cove and the Park Loop Road, or cross street to climb Cadillac Mountain. 4.5 miles from downtown Bar Harbor, 3 miles from Seal Harbor Beach. The Wild Gardens of Acadia and nature center are two miles away, Seal Harbor beach is three miles. The house has wifi, and the cell tower provides a clear AT+T signal here and for Acadia National Park, but other carriers are weak or no signal. Verizon users will not have service.

Craney House is a comfortable place with character—good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids). We affectionately call it our "tree house" because of the jungle that used to obscure the house. We love Otter Creek for its quieter access to what Acadia has to offer—close to the Park Loop Rd, carriage and hiking trails, but it's also only about 5 miles away from Bar Harbor and 10 miles to Seal Harbor.
